Personality:
Athene is at first look, a very serious and unemotional troll. Her emotional responses are limited, she says little to nothing, and always seems to be scrutinizing what you do, if not just staring off into the distance. While it seems a little rude and uncaring, it's really her trying to gauge if you're someone she can entrust herself to. Under that serious facade and armor she's put up, Athene is an intelligent and caring troll. However, it's a rarity that this is found because her armor is so hard to tear down, put up simply due to fear that someone, anyone, will hurt her even if she slightly lets down her guard. It's not that Athene wants to be alone, in fact she's quite terrified at the thought, but she's afraid that she'll be hurt in the process and that fear overwhelms her desire to be with someone, making her quite hard to get to know.
Without her armor, Athene is, as stated before, is rather caring towards other trolls, going as far as to fuss about what they're wearing and promptly create them a new garment to fix whatever was wrong in her eyes. She's similar to a mama hen of sorts, caring deeply for her charges and making sure they're okay. You hurt her charges and she goes after you in a blind fury, her temper rising to uncontrollable levels. Along with caring, she has a sarcastic and humorous side to her, often coming out unexpectedly due to her lack of speaking. Suited to be the listener to a chatty troll, Athene is usually very quiet and enjoys taking in everything before responding. This leads her to look like she doesn't care but she does, really! It's just that she doesn't enjoy speaking and likes to daydream a little. Athene is a romantic at heart and her biggest dream, besides her business growing to be widely known, is to fill her quadrants. She wants to fall deeply into one and she often fantasizes daily about what it'll be like, especially about what it'd be like to be in a truly black quadrant with someone.
Beyond her (nonexistent) friends, Athene loves to work on her business, which is creating outfits for other trolls. She's gotten herself a fairly stable job and has a decent amount of money because of this, bringing in enough for her to rent a building for her to live in with her lusus. While it took her a long time to get this far, Athene's pretty proud of how she's gotten to this place and enjoys her projects very much, no matter how small. While she is a little greedy with her money, as financial instability is a big fear of hers, she's not above giving a little to her close friends. But because she has so few she trusts, this has not been a big problem.
Also with sewing, she enjoys tinkering with her many dyes, but because she uses blood to make many of them, not many know that she creates her own dyes. Often to get the blood, she'll go out and kill a troll, collecting their blood and keeping it in her small lab in her home as she toys with creating everything. While she feels guilt about doing this, the dyes rich color and selling factor in her business make her continue the act. Often she'll get Fluff-dad to collect the herbs she needs for it when he's out, getting everything else she needed herself, be it shady markets or staying out on the streets for awhile. Athene keeps her dyes a big secret though, not telling any other troll about it. She's horrified on what they would think if they knew she used blood in them.
Athene's stance on the hemospectrum is simple. She appears to care on the outside but quite truly, she could care less. Working with trolls of every blood color has made her care less and while she will respect the highbloods she comes across, out of reason for not wanting to get culled, she's not afraid to go after them if they hurt one of her charges, albeit carefully with a plan in mind. She is very careful to make sure this isn't known though, because Athene does value living.
Strengths:
- Intelligent
Athene is not in any sense stupid. She knows what she's talking about and knows what she's doing, be it just calculating money or working on her dyes. She has the knowledge and she puts it regularly to use, not a bit of it wasted.
Athene also pursues knowledge for simply the fun of it, often putting her free time to use by reading more books, when not off doing other things. Usually, however, she seems to keep this known as simply a way to keep herself self sufficient and to not have to rely on anyone but herself for her business. Her favorite books by far are about sewing and creation of dyes, as of course she wants to pursue this knowledge, but secretly her favorite books are trashy romance novels and murder mystery series. She'd never admit this to anyone ever, cross her heart and hope to die, but she wants just a thrilling romance as ones in the novels.
- Hardworking
Running a business does take a lot of work and Athene is just the girl for it. She puts 100% effort into all her work and stops for pretty much nothing, unless it is in dire need of attention. Because she's so hard working, she fills most of her orders quickly, allowing her a lot of free time. However, because she's so hard working she can tend to overwork herself quickly if not very careful. Athene loves her job, she finds the repetitiveness of the sewing soothing and pleasant and she enjoys the fashion aspect of it, especially when doing fancy bead work. However, a lot of her hard work is simply because she thinks that faster she gets it done, done correctly however because mistakes just make more work and less profit, the more successive she will bring herself. After all, if a business is quick, efficient, and with good quality who wouldn't want to go to them?
- Serious
Athene isn't much for being exuberant. She's very protective and guarded about her emotions, allowing precise reactions to be shown and just the right amount of words to be spoken. Being so protected and guarding of her emotions, this gives her a better focus on tasks she's doing and the ability to block out the world from her ears and eyes. It has also helped her keep a more professional persona with her business, because less chatter the fewer customers feel like they are being personally judged and well, it keeps them coming back in her eyes.
It also helps her gauge who will hurt her or not, acting as a shield between her feelings and other trolls that could possibly be more outwardly malicious to her, something Athene values greatly and to help her try and value other trolls who could possibly become close friends. The only downside to this, however, is it's a hard protection to crack and tends to restrict her filling her quadrants.
- Caring
Athene truly cares about other trolls she gets close to and will become a Mama hen of sorts, making sure everything is going alright. If you have a ripped shirt, in need of some money, or just plain injured, Athene will try to come to the rescue the best she can, be it trying to be a doctor on the fly or fixing up whatever other problem. Occasionally, for this is rare for her, Athene will find herself watching another troll from a distance and after lots of observation, care from afar. Little care packages may appear on their doorstep or money found in the mail. It's the most Athene can do if in that situation, for her fears keep her from approaching.
Flaws:
- Guarded
Under all that armor is a big fear that someone will find out who she truly is and that they'll reject her, leaving her to be alone or even worse, culled. Through this she has created her serious persona, which is her "guard" to help her gauge if someone will hurt her or not and acts as a shield between her feelings and trolls, some that can be more outwardly malicious than others. Even though Athene's scared to be alone, she has a bigger fear of being emotionally hurt and this causes her to forget about the fear of being alone. The biggest problem with this is Athene is that this tends to prevent her from getting into any quadrant whatsoever.
- Clingy
Athene is terrified of being alone. She'll brush it off and push it off from her mind when it shows and will distract herself with something and move on, but truly she does not enjoy being alone. Often this leads to her being radically clingy with other trolls, overlooking all and any faults just to keep being with someone, anyone. Occasionally this leads to her getting a little bit stalkerish with trolls, because instead of letting trolls she admires live their lives from far away, only seeing them occasionally, she watches them constantly and carefully and pretends that they're her friend. While it's the only thing she does to them, she can get possessive and jealous over a troll she hasn't even met! It's sad, but Athene simply wants to comfort herself that she's not alone.
- Bad temper
Even with a serious outlook, Athene has a wicked temper. Manage to get her irritated, a great feat in itself and you have a earful waiting for you and a possible beat down too. With such a serious restraint on her feelings and expressions, it's typical that she'll relieve her stress with the yelling that occurs with this temper. Her temper is usually triggered by, unusually, too many questions being asked of her. Otherwise, going after someone she cares about or badmouthing something or someone she's proud of can also instantly get her yelling at you. Gossip and such irritates her greatly, along with spy like people, and often she finds herself yelling at them too.
- Trust problems
Because she's so afraid to be hurt, Athene has big issues with trusting trolls. It takes Athene a very long time to trust someone and that trust is very delicate for awhile, as she even then will be a little suspicious of you. If you make a promise with her she'll doubt you'll keep your promise and will try to make sure you'll carry it out, or if try and be kind she'll be wary of your intentions. Kindness is something she treats as if it's a wild animal and showing that kindness often is something that will make her instantly suspicious of you, going as so far as to question your intentions towards her. If she ends up trusting you though, that is a dear part of her going out to you. Breaking her trust after she's trusted you for a long time would hurt her deeply and make her trust problems worse.
Weapon:
Athene wields a garrote, a weapon she's extremely fond of. It takes care of business easily and leaves no mess behind, along with being easy to hide and carry around. While normally she only uses blunt wire in it for strangulation, she'll switch it out for razor wire or other sharp and thin wire if she intends to draw blood.

Appearance:
Athene has her black hair cut short and it styled out of her face, away from her eyes so she can see while sewing. Among her hair is little baubles her lusus has brought, shiny things that he brings home and places in her hair and out of care for her lusus Athene wears them. To make them a little more useful, they're colored similarly to her dyes (which unfortunately has gotten into her hair a little) and she can use them to check the color while making them, otherwise she only takes them out while sleeping or bathing. A fashionable troll, she wears a poncho trimmed with fur, followed by a short skirt and high boots with a fur trim. Her gloves are wrist length and have two pompoms attached close to the wrist. Or rather, she prefers to think she's fashionable. Athene gets rather cold easily and keeps her poncho on for warmth but just as easily as she gets cold she gets hot and so she keeps her short skirt on to cool her down.
Her eyes are wide and thickly lashed, with a green tint. Often with a smile, one of her teeth pops up from her lip, an unusually cute characteristic to her otherwise serious personality. Only one of her horns is growing, it curves the side of her head and up, topped with a star. Her other horn was cut off in a battle between her and another troll long ago, it's a story she doesn't tell anyone.

Home:
Athene has taken residence in the inner part of New Hemisect, running a tailoring and clothing shop out of the bottom and living in the top floors of the building above. One floor is entirely dedicated to her lusus, whom is rather big and known to fly off for days, gathering food and shiny baubles for whatever reason.
The rent isn't awful and Athene soon enough hopes to buy the building off whom she's renting it from when she gets enough money, but as of now that is a long off dream as she learns to hone her sewing skills better and create a bigger business.
Lusus:
Athene's lusus is a big owl, simply known to her as Fluff-Dad. Often he hangs around in the roomier upstairs of Athene's hive, due to the fact there are more open spaces up there. Fluff-Dad is a good dad and has helped guide Athene to her skills now by making her take sewing classes and teachings from older female trolls, whom she's learned greatly from.
However, while Fluff-Dad has been a great guide, he has also been known to fly off for days, often coming back with little food and mostly shiny baubles. He's getting a little scatter brained as he gets older, but for now Athene simply accepts what he gives and says nothing, sometimes putting his little gifts in her hair.
