So they don't get blown off at with critiques of course!!! Nicole posts her art in the PP sometimes but people like ramy don't do it at all!! Or Joulee!!! They don't realize how much their art isn't all that good how many FLAWS they have they really don't care. Hence why they don't post in the picture post to be flamed.

This is why people should just get a deviantart account, so they get actual criticism from actual artists instead of the usual "OH s**t YOU CAN DRAW THAT RULES" that happens in the Art Arena. And as if that wasn't bad enough all the non-anime art gets pushed aside like it isn't important. Fie! Damn them all twice under a full moon, for art is art and there is no superior style.

Good critiques are rare and scarce wether it be here, on Elfwood, DA or Shezy.

DeviantWatch'd. Anything that is not anime and tries to oppose the style gets my respect, even my admiration in some cases. Not in this one, though; just respect. Which is a lot to say. Lately I have been trying to make my drawings more cartoon and less anime. After this, I will try to make my drawings more realistic, thus beggining the cycle again. And then I'll start taking photographs of sad puppies in the snow.

I laugh my head off whenever I see a non-Japanese person who originally develops an anime art style suddenly try to change it because they keep attracting people who go "OMG AMINE STYLE MARY ME". Honestly, Space Coyote's trying, Josh Lesnick's trying, so many artists I know of are trying. It's like anime art is being put on the same plane as the black plague. Why not take pride in the fact that your art is better than the standard crap or traced Inu-Yasha box art?
I mean, Serial, dude, your art's great even if it does have a slight anime influence. It's noticable, but I can see it isn't your only influence. It's fine, so why change? You got a good thing going. Don't worry about not being the next TVSKyle or Andrew Dickman. Be happy for what you have, rather than what you don't have.
Honestly, anime's just an art style. It has no mythic properties. Whether people like it or not everybody's treating it like some kind of magic force that needs to be protected or destroyed. It's just art. Just like Fauvism or Futurism is just art. They caused a lot of controversy in the art communities, but they passed, just like this will pass. Granted I may be pushing it by comparing it to those particular, famous styles but you see my point right?
I'm done ranting.

God damn picky ******** Art arena.. I used to submit the odd drawing here and there, but instead of pointing out what needs work or whatever, they basicly told me it sucked because it wasn't colored or it sucked because it was in pencil or whatever.
It a pain in the a** to submit art there now anyways. It hardly works to begin with. Bah

Well, there is a REASON I called myself serial_experiments... I *GOTTA* have more cowbell! I MEAN... I gotta find new ways to do the old stuff. I am trying something a bit more realistic: Life drawing. It seems I have potential, and from this I may be able to improve overall, even while drawing in anime style. I am not changing it... I am actually acquiring more skills.

My art style has always been a fusion of the crap that I tend to like, starting with straight up cartoons, to an excursion into COUGHfurryCOUGHHACKWHEEZE, and then anime, all kind of mushed up together. Which of course means that I can simultaneously be "too cartoony" AND "too anime", which is TOTALLY FUN!!!! Kind of like trying to pic categories for DA posts (regular pictures end up in "anime", panels from Bizarre Uprising and such go in "cartoons and comic" since they are panel from, well, a comic).
Though lately I think I've been leaning towards cartoony a bit more, but oddly enough, that was kind of influenced by stuff like FLCL and Dead Leaves (and the rest of the stuff done by those artists), both of which are anime.
EDIT: Ha ha, look at me, talking like I'm somebody that anybody should even listen to!
