Thank the gods that her injuries were steadily healing! Coupled with the fact that she had been doing some gentle training everyday, Eva was pretty much back into her usual routine of waking up at the crack of dawn to train. While she wasn't 100% healed, she was in a much better mood (and in less pain) than she had been before.
With Chara already summoned and in hand, the girl head down to the training fields, ready to beat on some dummies. Though it'd be nice to have an actual partner to spar with, She thought to herself, sighing, Training with the dummies is all and good, but... But they didn't move or think as a real person--or monster--would. That being said, there was no one she could think of who she could call out for a spar--
You promised Reine one last time, didn't you? When the two of you were out shopping?
Ah, that was right! But...would her friend be up at this hour? Pulling out her phone, Eva stared down at it with a frown before she finally flipped it open. Might as well ask, right?
Text to Reine Hey, Reine! <3 Hope I didn't wake you up--if I did, ignore this and go back to sleep! I'm actually out at the training grounds, and I was wondering if I could hit you up for that spar we mentioned before? <33 Only if you're up for it!

Reine did, in fact, go back to sleep for all of two hours. It was likely she hadn't actually seen the contents of the message- just that 'sender' was neither Caelius, the Doctor, Clarice, Aria or Julie, which meant it was clearly not that urgent.
Honestly, it was likely she wouldn't have been able to get out of bed anyway- morning missions were pretty tough for an insomniac. When Reine finally did manage to wake up, and read the message, she rushed down to the training fields, still clad in her pajamas- an oversized shirt and shorts.
"Evieeeeee, oh god, I'm so sorry!!!"

...w-what.
Eva stared blankly at the reply before she promptly burst out laughing, shaking her head as she flipped the phone closed. Looked like she had been right--Reine must have still been sleeping. Grinning, she tucked her phone back into her pocket. No matter--she would just do what she originally intended and whack at some dummies!
Fortunately, Eva tended to spend a couple of hours training outside, stopping every half and hour or so for a fifteen minute break. Had she left, she likely wouldn't have run into Reine, who came rushing down to the fields...in her sleeping wear? Grinning from ear to ear, Eva leaned on her staff, waiting until Reine was close enough to hear her before she spoke. First though, she held up a hand, as if to stop any further apologizing.
"It's fine, Reine! Didn't I say that you should just ignore the text if I woke you up?" It had been ridiculously early, after all--most people probably wouldn't have shown up. "Though, ah, you didn't have to rush out in your pajamas, you know! You could have just texted me back!"

Reine shuffled her feet, embarrased. She had ignored the text.. until she woke up properly, and then she'd taken one look at the timestamp and run out.
"I... uh, got excited?" Reine flashed her friend a grin, and also a thumbs-up. At least she wasn't wearing her bunny slippers, that would have been really embarrassing. On the other hand, the boots she usually wore looked extremely out of place with the rest of her attire, and Reine groaned, becoming painfully aware of the fact that she looked completely ridiculous right now.
Face reddening, she tried her best to at least comb out some tangles with her fingers. Dakota's words were haunting her, even though she hadn't paid much heed to them before, and standing in front of Eva, who was, as always, dressed prettily, Reine felt more inadequate than she ever had in her whole life.
"Evieee," she said, though she was looking down at her feet still, "Could you.. teach me to be more.. like a girl?"

...What?
Eva stared blankly at Reine, the question completely catching her off guard. Where had that come from? Cocking her head to the side, Eva desummoned Chara, putting her now-free hands on her hips. She grinned, and as she spoke, her tone with light (albeit with a hint of puzzlement). "What's all this about, Reine? You're already a girl--I'm not sure how someone could be more of one."
Though really, she wasn't entirely sure what had prompted her friend to suddenly ask her that. And considering how she hadn't been smiling (or even looking at her) while she asked...hm. Maybe it was something serious.
"I mean, er, I'm not the most feminine girl here." Eva's grin grew a little sheepish as she ran a hand through her short hair, "But if it's dresses and stuff that you're interested in...I don't know, I could always lend you some or something?"

"It's... um... yeah, I..." Reine shot Eva a look of appreciation. Yeah, she was a girl! Except apparently people were having problems telling, and she was just about sick of it.
Somehow, she doubted dresses would make much of a difference, considering what she usually wore anyway- it was that.. that thing Dakota had mentioned, lack of feminine charm.
"It's just, Reine murmured, her face flushing redder, "There's this guy..."

Oh. Oh, was that what this was about? A knowing smile spread over Eva's lips (even though she herself had never dated) as she reached out and clasped a hand over Reine's shoulder. "I understand." That was all the girl said as she nodded sagely, pulling back and crossing her arms over her chest. Now it all made sense--the reason why Reine was asking for advice and had that blush over her face was because of a guy.
Eva considered asking who it was, but she figured that would be a little too intrusive, even if she was curious. So, she settled instead for, "Tell me a little about this guy. I mean...what's he like?" Did he like girly girls?
...Though that being said, if he expected Reine to change herself for him, then Eva would definitely be having a "talk" with him in the near future.

"You do?" Reine wailed- this was most likely not the reaction Eva was expecting, because Reine was looking at her with the saddest, most hurt eyes ever. Eva said she understood? But she'd also just said Reine was a girl... so what.. what could that mean altogether, the life trainee was so confused.
"He asked... he asked if I was.. a guy..."
More sniffles.
"I DIDN'T THINK IT MATTERED, EVIE, BUT.. do I.. do I really... look like.. a guy.. I mean it's not like.. I want to be girly or anything but.. is it that.. hard to tell?"

Indeed, Eva's eyes widened in alarm and confusion at the distress wail from her friend. W-what?! Had she said something wrong?! ...And that look she was giving her. "I-I just meant that...you know. I understand that guys are tough! Not that..." Not that whatever Reine had thought that she had implied.
However, the girl's puzzled expression soon became one of irritation--along with a very deep frown--as Reine continued. "He what?! No, Reine--it's not hard to tell at all! You're clearly a girl!" Just look at her! Look at her face, her hair, her outfit, her--
Her...
IT DIDN'T MATTER she was a girl, okay. Leaning her weight on one leg, Eva crossed her arms over her chest. "Trust me--anyone has got to be kind of blind if they think you're a guy. I mean, I've never confused your gender, and neither as Puppy, right?" That had to mean something.

"I don't know," Reine sobbed. "Maybe Otto's thought I was a guy all this while too. Or something." It wasn't like he'd treated her like a girl, though granted, he didn't really treat anyone like anything other than an annoyance....
A defeated sigh. "I just.. you know, I just..." there was a lot of strange hand-waving, as if Reine was trying to express something through the gestures, but then she gave up, letting her arms fall to her sides.
"boobs.."

"No! I'm sure that Puppy knows that you're a girl! That's a fact!" Mentally, Eva made a note to pay Otto a visit to have a little chat with him, just in case. But seriously...seriously, what about Reine wasn't feminine? She had looked lovely in her gala dress, and she had long, pretty hair, and--
...
O-oh.
"Uh...what's the issue?" Eva kept her voice cheerful. "I mean, I don't get the big deal is about boobs. They're just these awkward, uncomfortable tumors on your chest, right?" And besides, it wasn't like Reine was boobless, right? Maybe a little small, but they were there.
Without warning, Eva reached out and gave her friend's chest a little pat. "Don't listen to that guy--he's a jerk."

Okay, Reine was getting the feeling that she was kind of getting carried away now, of course Otto didn't think she was a guy, because she was sure he'd referred to her as a girl before... or something.. okay, yes, deep breaths, calm down. This wasn't as serious an issue as she'd thought, she could get past it without it ruining her life.
just these awkward, uncomfortable tumors on your chest...
She gave Eva the most pitiful look. "I wouldn't know," she sniffled, then gazed sadly downwards. "I've never had to think about it much, either... I don't even know why I care, I just.."
Reine squeaked when Eva patted her chest, jerking away reflexively, but the gesture had made her all the more aware of what she was lacking..

That face. That face. Eva could only stand staring at Reine's sad expression for only a moment before she suddenly reached out, pulling her friend into a hug. "Guys who focus only on boobs are jerks anyways," She informed the other girl, keeping an arm around her even as she drew back, "You have a ton of awesome qualities, and..."
Trailing off, she suddenly looked a little sheepish. Lifting a hand, Eva ran her fingers through her short hair. "To be honest, I'm a little jealous of your pretty hair. I used to have long hair--I mean, until I got a little carried away with the scissors--but it wasn't nearly as nice as yours." Now this was starting to sound like typical girl talk. Honestly though, she just wanted to try taking Reine's focus off of the boobs and onto different things.
Like uh...hair. And clothes? And...okay no, Eva wasn't entirely knowledgeable about this "being a girl" stuff either, but hopefully she could guess her way around.

"They totally are," Reine said somewhat petulantly, sniffling a little. "Yeah, they're such stupid, shallow jerks!" Thanks to Eva she was getting a little of her confidence back. "I beat them up in a fight anyway. One of them..."
No regrets, right? They deserved it, they were the ones in the wrong. She hugged Eva back appreciatively, allowing a smile onto her face. You didn't need boobs to be a good hunter, or even a good person, it was all in your character, not your physical attributes.
"Awww, Evie.." Reine reached out to touch her friend's hair. "You look really good with this haircut, though! I don't.. think short hair suits me, I don't know.. I've never had hair above my shoulder, I mean, other than when I was growing it out as a kid." But if it really bothered her...
"You could try growing your hair out again, maybe! And we can like, do our hair the same way!" She looked extremely pleased with herself at the suggestion, for whatever reason.

"You did? Atta girl!" Eva beamed at Reine proudly and--fortunately--she made no indication that she was about to ask just who it was that her friend had beaten up. If she were to find out, then her bright grin probably would have changed into an open-mouthed stare...followed by an extreme facepalm.
Luckily, since she was in the dark about who the guy was, she didn't have to do that.
She visibly relaxed and it became clear that Reine was feeling a little better now. Looking a little embarrassed for once, she rubbed the back of her neck. "You think? Though...I never told you the story about what happened to my hair, did I?" Laughing, she propped her free hand up on her hip, "I definitely learned my lesson from that experience."
The suggestion had the death trainee beaming even brighter as she reached out and very gently ruffled Reine's hair. "Cute! Not sure if I could pull it off all that well, though!"
