Walking down the narrow staircase to the cove, Hazel finally had a moment to herself. Her bum was still sore from before, so the trip down wasn't very pleasant. Not to mention the brick upon brick of walls leading her down a not so scenic path. This could be another test, Hazel thought. She was in no rush to die again any time soon.
When she finally reached the bottom of the staircase, all there was was a tiny a** room, not even big enough to fit a handful of people. It was quiet. It was empty. How was she supposed to find a weapon in an empty room? Maybe there was a secret passage she was supposed to find?
"Let's see..." Hazel came up to the right side of the room and began to feel the glowing squiggled walls for a hidden button.
< You REAAALLY got a knack for this don'tcha, kid? >
"Huh?" Hazel immediately turned around. Nothing there. She could hear a small humming sound in the direction towards the other wall.
< Am I over here? > The voice said playfully.
Hazel jerked her head back one more time. Her eyes darted around the small room. Still nothing but a strange humming.
< OOOOoooooOOOOoooh, come towards the light if you want to find me? >
"Who's there?!" Hazel stopped to question the male voice. She took a few steps towards the lone torch on the side of the wall. "Show yourself!" she shouted. The closer she came towards the torch, the louder the humming became.
< Alright, well, enough of that, yeh? Maybe I'll stop messing with you? You'll find me soon enough, I'm sure? > The voice laughed.
Eventually, Hazel came across a stone that was doing ll the humming she was hearing before. Maybe that was it?
< Oh, did you FINALLY find me? You don't suppose you could pick me up? >
She furrowed her brows at the glowing stone, and began to pull it out of the wall. She could feel her fingers getting warmer the more she touched that particular stone. The moment she released it from the wall, the stone took on it's true form. Hazel brought it up to the torch to examine it closer. It was a large syringe sort of shape. White with blue markings going down it. It really did look like some sort of alien technology.
"Are you made by aliens?" Hazel squinted her eyes at the weapon.
< ... Yes, I'm TOOOOOTALLY made by aliens. >
"..." Hazel stared at him quietly for a moment.
< ... Okay, did you HONESTLY think I was--- You- You know what? Never mind. The name's Sabin. >
"You're kind of a p***k," she said.
< REALLY? I don't see you being stuck down here, for WHO KNOWS how long, just WAITING for the right someone to-- >
"My name's Hazel," Hazel interrupted Sabin's rant.
< ... Hazel. You're quite the special one, aren't you? >
"It's why you called out to me, right?" Hazel asked.
It took a few moments before Sabin finally responded.
< Yes. > Sabin laughed, < I found you special.>
It's been a rough day making friends for Hazel. But that was probably the nicest thing she's heard all day.
"I find you special too," Hazel gave Sabin a smile, assuming it was a good thing.
