This had to be illegal. Against some kind of intergalactic Geneva Convention. Someone, somewhere had to have spoken out on behalf of all subjected to this degree of madness. There was just no way this was alright with whoever was in charge of this whole senshi thing.
It had snowed a foot. At least. And still Acubens had to patrol. In her little fuku. That offered no protection from the elements at all. Even the peacoat she'd fastened around her waist did nothing to help her. Not really, anyway, since the cold was so penetrating that it bite right through it, not to mention her exposed legs burried in snow.
Acubens sort of felt like this should be a senshi-wide holiday. And for that matter, the chaos too. That way no one had to worry. Okay guys, you know what? It's way too cold to be doing any of this so, let's just call a truce until things thaw out a little bit. Was that so much to ask? Really?
Still, as Acubens shivered in her coat, teeth clacking together and beaded braids clicking as she shook, she knew there was at least one worse off than she. The tummy-displaying, boot-wearing, put-up-with-Acubens'-nonsense Polaris. Acubens hadn't thought about her for a while. She sort of... pushed the fiasco of the order gathering from her mind. She didn't really want every one to know that she was a steaming hot bowl of crazy, yet she'd more or less broadcast it to everyone present. God she was an idiot. She rubbed her hands over her face, lamenting for the millionth time her actions as a younger senshi.
And in keeping with the trend of late, Acubens resolved to try and make amends. From the strange twilight space between, Acubens pulled the cell phone. She'd scanned Polaris, now it was just a matter of finding her in the phones database. Oh, why was this so complicated? Acuben' numb fingers fumbled with the technology, dropping it once or twice before she finally got it to ring. Hopefully Polaris was powered and would get her call. She was getting lonley and what better way to try and fend off the cold than with someone else, right?

Polaris' first winter in Destiny City hadn't been so bad. Having moved from a generally colder climate the snow and cold nights didn't really phase her as much as some of the other senshi. Her sturdy boots with their good traction had been a life saver, and despite a ridiculously small fuku... her long boots and gloves did give her some coverage from the cold.
The longer she stayed in Destiny City however.. becoming more accustom to the weather and varying seasons the more unaccustomed she was becoming to the extreme weather. Even if she had been used to it though.. the snow that'd fallen in the past few days had surpassed anything she'd seen in a long time. Let alone anything she'd gone out into.
Polaris had actually stopped and debated whether or not to go out that night. With most people tucked away at home it hardly seemed worth going out. And what negaverse solider was crazy enough to go out and waste their time causing trouble in this mess? She had almost talked herself out of it as she sipped on a cup of hot chocolate, but at the last moment she caved. It sucked to be cold.. and especially to waste your time, but not as much as regret after the fact if something big did happen and she wasn't there to stop it.
She hadn't gotten very far from her apartment when her phone began to buzz, pausing on a rooftop to summon the phone into her hands curiously. The number was a fairly new one, but she recognized the name when she saw it. "Acuben?"
The phone connected and at the same time the GPS lit up, showing that the distance between the two wasn't very great. "Nice to see someone else was crazy enough to face the storm" Her tone was good natured, almost a laugh, before it shifted suddenly, worried. "Ohh! You're not in trouble right?"
That'd be terrible if she was over here joking when someone else was calling her because of an emergancy.

It was good to hear another voice. Moreover one that Acubens knew. Still, as soon as Acubens heard Polaris speaking, she was suddenly reminded of the last time they'd been together. The time they'd met when Acubens rambled, at length, about her boots. She blushed, redness only hidden by the wind burn on her face. Oh dear... this would... probably not turn out well. Is it too late to hang up? Telemarketer? Except that these phone had caller ID, so Polaris knew it was Acubens. Okay... calm... what had she said? Um... trouble? Acubens looked down at her feet, burried in the snow which seeped into her boots. The snow itself rose to mid calf, freezing her legs.
"Not trouble persay... I mean, I'm not in immediate danger of freezing to death." She laughed a little at her own lame joke. The laugh dwindled off into nothing as she pulled on a braid. Oh dear. This was still a bad idea.
"Um, no, I just wanted to know if that offer for a joint patrol was still open. It's lonley out here tonight, and maybe it'd be easier to fight the cold with someone else, you know?" Hopeful, though she sounded, Acubens braced herself for rejection. Nope, can't hang out with you, you're way too creepy. It wouldn't be the first time she'd heard that.

Polaris was not exactly a champion of humor. She was too serious for it.. too sheltered in her life to have developed any great talent in wittiness or comedy. Her own jokes were often quite lame, and so she seemed to geuninely giggle in a mixture of relief and amusement at the joke that sounded.
The words had barely stopped flowing from Acuben, when Polaris was quickly responding with a chipper excitement. "Ohhhh! I'd love to. Be there in just a second."
Her phone was snapped abruptly shut, perhaps to surprise of Acubens. But if the other senshi paid attention to her phone at all the soft blip of Polaris' presence would quickly be seen moving closer and closer.
It took more than a second.. probably just a little under a minute before the senshi of magnetism finally appeared, helped both by Acuben's power signal and the phone's GPS system to quickly locate her.
Jogging to brace the distance, she lifted an arm in a wide wave of greeting. "Hey there! I'm here to distract you from the cold."
((Is Acuben regular or super for this rp? heart Also were you wanting Polaris to go Princess at some point, or shall we save that for some other time?))

((For this RP, she's regular, since she won't power up until she finished her plot with Lesath and Keren. As for Princess, I'd say Micah needs to know who her leaders are. Right now she's seriously jealous that the DMC has a definite Princess, and so far all Acubens has heard are rumors. It'd be good for her.)) It was true, Polaris' sudden endding of thier transmission had made Acubens jump just a touch. Not enought o be offended, she could glen both from her help at the order gathering and thier conversation that she was too kind to do so out of irritation. However, just how much kinder was beyond Acubens' understandting. Still, she watched at the blinking dot on her phone ranged nearer to her. When she arrived Acubens looked up with surprise. That had been fast. Faster than she had anticipated, actually. She knew that Polaris was eternal already, remembering the wings on her lower back from the party. But even with that, she hadn't really expected her to arrive so quickly, even with the short distance between them. She smiled, however, once she'd gotten over the shock of her speed. Maybe they were just closer than she had previously thought they were. "Oh, my hero," Acubens grinned, teeth chattering in the cold. She did feel a little silly comlpaining, however. Her belly wasn't exposed like Polaris' was. In Acubens' mind, if anyone had right to complain about the cold, it was that senshi. Even with that in mind, however, she could not stop arm arms from rising and corssing over her chest to try and ward off some of the cold. "Walking and talking should do the most good in keeping warm," she noted gently, mind in a flurry to think of something to say that didn't pertain to Polaris' boots. She didn't want a repeat of thier first meeting, where it seemed to be all that Acubens was capable of talking about. She blushed at the memory, wishing again for hair to hide the rose blooming in her cheeks. "Have you been well since we met?"

Company was a quick way to make Polaris forget about the cold too, at least initially. When you were busy talking it kept you from thinking or dwelling. It was easy to be bored, and cold, and even jaded when you were lonely. It seemed pairing up did more then just pass information along or help keep you safe. Perhaps that's why Polaris had become so certain in her thoughts about trying to put together a team once again. She really did miss the Bastards.
Subconciously mimicing Acuben, Polaris' gloved hands lifted to rub against the exposed skin of her upper arms as her eyes looked around them momentarily. She was almost tempted to summon forth her dress for the sheerly selfish reason of covering her up a little better, but in the end knew better than to do it. "Was there a certain area you'd like to patrol or just anywhere?"
As she waited for a response, she shrugged a little, answering thoughtfully. "I've been good. Busy but good. On the senshi side, things have been pretty quiet since all that stuff went down in the surrounding. Outside though.. been dealing with the holidays and starting college. And of course all the things going on with my boyfriend."
"A lot of things have changed for him lately, as if being turned into a cat for a while wasn't bad enough." Oh the 'fun' and exciting things that always seemed to befall the champions of justice.

Certain area. Of course there was. Ever since Acubens had found that Youma sucking the life out of her brother she'd been patroling her own neighborhood. Once a week she also branched out to Keren's home as well, making sure she was safe and sound. Most importantly, however, she watched out for her brother and parents. Acubens, however, kept all of that information to herself; some lingering distrust for the other senshi that she'd been trying hard to battle since she first felt the pull of the Dark Mirror Court. Instead, she simply nodded with a bright smile, sweeping her arm out tolead the way. "A small four block area in a near by suburb. I usually start out here, though. The park seems to be where most attacks occur, so... it seemed like a good idea."
She lead the way towards her neighborhood, glad for Polaris' natural chatting. It made Acubens relax visibly, allowing her to absently twirl a braid around her finger as she normally did when she let her mind wander.
"It seems like everyone is busy latley. I've been trying to find my place like all of the other new senshi, and I'm trying to start a team... plus trying to protect my family and keepmy girlfriend from finding out about my secret identity..." Acubens sighed. "Do you think, if we were given the choice, any of the senshi would chose this kind of life? It's so... stressful. Not to mantion we have... no idea what we're doing. Not really. Everyone seems to have thier own agenda. Some teams gather information, some fight for blood, others..." Acubens shrugged. "And I mean... knowing what we know now. I don't think I would."
It was an honest answer. One she believed. If she wasn't a senshi, then she wouldn't have fallen in love with Lesath. She wouldn't be torn between this court and the Dark Mirror Court. She and Alexij wouldn't have been sent to the hospital. Her parents wouldn't be worried about her all the time. She wouldn't be drained all day... "Would you?"

The eternal senshi had no qualms with the suggested direction, giving one swift nod of agreement before she fell in line following after Acuben. "I think I've been in that area a couple times. I tend to hop around a lot though. Just in case there are any areas in the city not being covered by regular patrols."
Girlfriend? If her skin wasn't so dark, the slightest hints of a blush might have been evident on Polaris' face as the word sounded. It wasn't that she had anything against women that loved women or men and men. How could love be a bad thing after all? But even as she branched her wings out in the world outside of her sheltered childhood and boarding school upbringing it was still a little strange and different. But then.. she had kissed Millie that one time.. in a moment of distress, and that hadn't been so weird at all.
Shaking away the idea, she tried to focus on the other things Acuben's was saying. Busy, new senshi, teams.
"I've been doing this for kind of a long time, but I am reminded again and again how overwhelming this can be. Especially for newer senshi. And senshi in the dark."
"In the past we sometimes had these large scale meetings. And while they didn't answer everything, not by a long shot, it was still comforting to have them. To get and share some information. To have someone to look towards."
"I hadn't been at this for very long when I got to see the moon princess for the first time." She paused a moment, scratching her head lightly before amending her statement. "Well I mean.. more like a vision of her. But still... that voice and that kindness. When things get very dark I can always think back to that. And I don't know that many of the newer senshi have that same luxury."
Acuben's words had softened Polaris' smile until it'd almost been completely replaced with a look of concern. It wasn't so hard to see that being a senshi weighed on the younger girl, even if she was oblivious to just how heavily it weigh. "I think that you should join a team, or as you said, start one. Things do seem a little easier when you have others to lean on and share the burden with." It might help her a little. Hopefully.
Silent for a moment, Polaris seemed to take the heaviest of questions in consideration before she finally answered, her pace slowed, a finger resting thoughtfully on her own bottom lip. "It is hard to say what we would choose or not choose in the past. I'm sure I've changed since the day I've become a senshi. There is no way I couldn't have having seen and been through what I have. But I can say that even if there were suddenly some way where I could just.. stop being a senshi and give it up all high and dry. I wouldn't do it."
"I'm sure there are plenty of others that would and I can't say I blame them. The road has been hard and long.. sometimes it seems incredibly overwhelming. But in the end there isn't a way I could just set aside my feelings and desire to help people even if it would be easier for me. Some would argue that it's not our responsibility and it's not fair to have it thrust on us. But in my eyes, at least for me personally, the moment I knew that people were in trouble and there was something I could do to fix it.. well I had to do it."
"Everyone hopes for a better world. But we senshi and knights have the power to actually create one. I may only be one person against it all, but when you're trying to make a change the first place to start with with yourself."

It was good to hear that Acubens wasn't the only one patrolling this area. It made her feel safer where her family was concerned. There was more than just one solider looking out for them. Well, maybe not them personally, but the thought was there. Her family was that much safer since there was someone more powerful than she looking out for it. "Thank you." The appreciation probably didn't make much sense to Polaris, but it did to Acubens. And she felt it was needed. It was the mention of the moon princess that made Acubens stop in her tracks. moon princess... the confusion was plain on her face as she watched Polaris for a moment. Who was... what did... More than a royal senshi it seemed... like they had... Acubens could have cried had she not been so cold. A solid lead. Somewhere in the back of her mind, Ganymede scolded her for being so trite. and yet, she could not help herself. Once authority was established, there was no doubt Acubens would rage against it... but she would also respect it when she needed to. And the very idea of it all... Acubens had forgotten to breathe for a moment, remembering to do so only when her vision began to fade. She caught herself on the edge of a gate, huffing from her lack of air. The rest of Polaris' words were lost to her. All she heard was that she felt that wonderful sensation of another lead to follow. Another piece of the puzzle she had become fell into view, ready to click together. And all she needed was just to see her. Just a glimpse of this... Moon Princess. Moon Princess. The tears that pricked her eyes had nothing to do with her sudden heavy breathing.

She wasn't exactly sure what Acuben's was thanking her for, but it hardly mattered in the end. Whether it was for agreeing with her, for helping, or even just for information.. all of those were things she'd happily do. Because Acuben was her ally and quite possibly a new friend on top of that too.
It was the long bout of silence that drew the eternal's eyes curiously away from her patrolling and back towards her partner. It was possible that she didn't have a whole lot of say in response.. but it was fairly uncommon to have someone not say anything at all. Especially considering the bouts of babbling she'd heard from the raptor senshi in the past.
It was Polaris' turn to look confused now, entirely uncertain of whatever had taken over Acubens. There was emotion behind it obviously though. The look on her face, the glittering fire in her eyes. But... what in the world? Was it a good face or..?
"Di... did I say something wrong?" She inquired sheepishly, a mild look of concern touching her.

Polaris' voice cut through Acubens' momentary fit. She looked up, clutching at her chest to try and isolate the thumping within. It took her a moment to find her voice again. for several long moments, Acubens gaped at the older senshi, trying to regain her composure. Finally the words came. "Everything's... fine..." the words sounded strange in Acubens' ears. "Better than fine. It's the best that it's been in a while." She laughed breathlessly, forcing herself to stand on her own two feet. "You just... since I discovered what I am, I have been searching for something." Acubens took a tentative step forward, trying to keep her balance. "A leader, a source of wisdom. Something to tell me what I'm supposed to be doing. Someone told me that I don't need it. That the Royal senshi aren't any better than the rest of us but... it's the symbolism." "And you... you just so casually offer what might have been the most important lead I've been given so far. The Dark Mirror Court has Ares. The Negaverse as Metallia. And now I know what we have." Acubens nodded several times, mind working over and over what she'd been told. "We have the Moon Princess."

There was continued confusion and concern in her eyes and on her face, but it slowly melted away, chipped at by Acuben's breathless laughter.
It was as she had thought. That new senshi lacked some of the guidance that older ones had once gotten. Perhaps even the drive. Only... she had not imagined to what a great extent it might affect them. She had not expected the emotion from Acubens, that she had felt so much uncertainty, perhaps even pain. But the grateful words and realization. Polaris was happy she could deliver that, even if she hadn't realized at the time that she was going to.
"What I have seen and heard of the Moon Princess is beautiful. Her voice and words are so kind and wise. Words of love, and hope, and redemption. We've searched for her for a long time, but I have faith we'll find her. We've found her daughter after all."
"I hope you get the chance to see her or hear from her yourself." Polaris wasn't exactly sure how to make that happen... In the past she'd seen her only in dreams or had heard her voice call out during great battles. But she very sincerely hoped that Acubens would find a way. Her and all the fledgeling senshi out there fighting for the white moon kingdom.
Whether or not she caught sight of the change that happened beside her, Acubens would very likely have felt the sudden powerful surge of power. The hand that moved to rest on the senshi's shoulder was no longer gloved, and the soft rustle of wings and fabric could be heard in the quiet night.
"There are others. The royal senshi that aren't much different then the rest. Prince Castor. Princess Chronos of the zodiacs. And me... We're here to give as much assistance as we can."
The princess' eyes cast upward at the sky after a moment, musing quietly. "But the Moon Princess is something different. When the time comes I just know that she'll help us save them all."

Of course Acubens felt the spike in energy beside her. She suspected even the newest of senshi would have felt that. But her first instinct wasn't a power up. Of course, being on patrol, her first instinct was a power retention for an attack. She assumed they had stumbled into the sights of a Youma. Immediately the name of her attack came to her lips, reflex by now. Acubens scolded herself for being so caught up in her emotions again that she failed to register the chaotic stench in the air.
Velociraptor had left her lips by the time she finally felt for the monster. Dash was on the tip of her tongue by the time she realized that she felt nothing. Power already surged through her taut muscles when Polaris' hand rested on her shoulder. It took all her effort to force the attack away when she finally realized that there was no threat. But then, if there was no danger, why did Polaris suddenly send out the surge of energy?
The question died on her lips the second Acebens turned to see her new companion.
the revealing fuku Polaris had so previously been wearing had given was to a shimmering gown. It was still reminiscent of the previous outfit, and yet entirely it's own. Acubens' mouth fell open as her mind caught up with what she was seeing. Even without having to be told, she knew. Somehow, Acubens knew.
"Princess..."
The ground was suddenly within sight. The wind around her ears lessened and Acubens could hear her own voice as she fell through the space that had quickly become familiar to her. She was that much closer to understanding the mystery of herself.
And such a revelation pushed the emotion passed Acubens without her being able to stop them. Tears appeared in her eyes and she was helpless to stop them. Her body trembled with so many conflicting emotions that she lost her ability to stay upright. She doubled over, sick sound reverberating in her chest. Her hand caught the cold concrete before her face did, and she huddled there, rocking herself, trying to nurse all of her torrential emotions back into something useful.
Princess. Princess.
The word didn't sound real to her anymore. Like sounds in her mind. Castor. Chronos. Polaris. Three royals right here. Right now.
"But... How... How...?" Acubens couldn't even voice what she wanted to say. How did she become royal? A titled randomly handed to her? Or had she earned the right to be royal? What did this mean?

Her reflexes changed a little when she changed. With exception of the times she was caught up in the bombardment of metal calling and singing to her, her reflexes heightened and sharpened. But as close as Acuben's had been, even she might not have been able to dodge the surprised release of attack. It was lucky that the other senshi had the control and mind to stop it before it had begun.
Acuben's was down on the ground before Polaris could attempt to grab her, and in truth, she wasn't even certain she should. What it was that hit or conflicted the Velociraptor senshi was a mystery to the princess and there was no way to know if holding her would only call forth resistance and an attempt to escape.
That didn't keep her from following the other girl to the ground though, knealing amid billowing fabric. A feathered ivory wing stretched out before curving almost protectively behind Acuben, so close that she might have felt the soft tickle of plummage in her rocking.
"It's a little hard to explain. I'm not sure how it is for everyone else. But something happened to me not that long ago. And when I needed it most my star sent me the power to do what I needed to."
"I don't know if it's because of something I did in the past, I know I was a princess back in my previous life too. Or if it's something that anyone who works hard enough and gives enough of themselves can become. But the tides are changing. As quickly as chaos is trying to engulf the earth, the light is growing and becoming more powerful too."
((I feel bad not mentioning Iris too, but since Polaris doesn't know ICly you know. XD ))

When Acubens rocked back against the soft white feathers, she stopped for a moment. It took her a few seconds to understand what it was she'd touched. She laughed as she took one feather between her fingers, only because there was nothing else she could really do. A couple of small, breathless chuckles before she smoothed the plumage back into place. She looked around her in that moment, realizing the circle that had been formed around her. Another rather pathetic laugh.
"That's a pretty vague explanation," Acubens teased gently, forcing her voice to calm and her body to stop shaking. "So like... anything can trigger this... power up?" She wiped her eyes as she spoke, pressing her thumbs into her tear ducks to clean them out and prevent further crying.
It was the talk of past lives that made her halt.
"Previous life? What like... Hindu reincarnation or something?" The frantic surge of emotions was quickly leaving Acubens' body, leaving her shaking in the aftermath of adrenaline. Still, she forced herself to stand on wobbling legs, now that she was feeling.
