Khet was a large lion considering his age. He already had a good, hefty weight about him; broad shoulders, powerful limbs and a heavy-set face. The only sign of his youth, of course, was the fact that his mane had not fully grown in yet. In fact, it still had some way to go. Nevertheless, this boy was an impatient chap and he was in no way willing the time to pass just so that he could be 'complete'. He was still training in his future rank of Guardian and he didn't feel ready to become fully-fledged yet.
Even still, today he was on a mock patrol, skimming around the inside of the borders which were guarded by those he looked up to. Those who dedicated their lives to protecting the land and the lions who lived there. One day he would be amongst that number and he could think of nothing better. Khet was not one for grandeur and adventures. He simply wished to be happy and protect the pride who he called family.
This was home, after all.
He paused in the shade of a palm tree for a moment, enjoying the brief respite and, after a moment, reclined back against the sand. It wouldn't hurt to take a little break now, would it?

Tifara had taken a break from crafting, it had been a long morning. Not that see was complaining as there had been lots of orders, which was good for business but her paws were sore. Finally orders seemed to die down and she let out a happy sigh. " Now is the perfect time to had out near the watering hole for a little soak and lie in the sun." Standing up Tifara moved to the corner to pick up a sign that had 'Be Back Later' before heading out of her workshop.
Humming a little tune she nodded her had in greeting to others she passed on her walk. It didn't take long at all to get the watering hole and when she did there she felt a small smile cross her face. " Little paradise." The water was crystal clear and the palm trees were lovely to look at as well as the white sand.

The sound of paws approaching had Khet looking up curiously. The sun was bright in his eyes, forcing him to squint a little to see through the harshness of its rays. Then, a moment later he saw the pale shape of an adult female moving towards him. Well, not him. More likely she was heading towards the water.
Nevertheless, Khet did not know her and, as was polite, he got up from his place in the shade and took a few steps towards her. It was only good manners to make oneself known and not give the other a shock by suddenly announcing himself.
"Good day to you." He called out to her, waiting a moment to see if she would be interested in conversation.

Wearly and unsure she watched as a male approached her off to her left. She couldn't really tell what age he was because his size was huge whereas his face looked youthful. She waited until he was close enough before she spoke back to him. "P-please to meet you." The sound of the tail charms she just made for her adopted father tinkled as she slowly moved her tail back and forth.
She awkward looked at the male before speaking, " I was just um heading to the watering hole for a swim. " Tifa took in the others interesting face markings and cute side braid. "I'm sorta new around here and I-I'm still learning my way 'round."

He smiled warmly. She was nervous. Or...shy, maybe? Either way he didn't want her to feel uncomfortable. So, he seated himself and gave her a nod. "You are a braver feline than me if you'er looking to go swimming." He didn't have a fondness for getting wet, himself, even when he was overheating. "If you like, I can accompany you for a time?"
He tilted his head. "It's nice to meet you, too. My name is Khet. I was born and raised here, so I know of nothing else but the sand. Others have told me that outside of the desert, it is not so hot. Are you getting used to it?"
His tail twitched curiously. He had heard many stories of the outside lands, particularly from his father, Ngoma, who had once been a Firekin.

Tifara tilted her head at the brave comment. No one had ever called her brave before...and it was kinda nice to be labeled as such. "Sure." She blurted out to his question. "Hi Keh-het. Oh I see, well it was at first but as each day passes I am finding myself enjoying the warmth more and more. It got to cold in the rogue lands sometimes." Tifara found herself warming up to the younger male lion as he appeared to be genuinely nice and his smile was kind. You can tell another by how they smiled at you or atleast that was how Tifara saw it. "Shall we...go? There is a scented spring nearby and it is relaxing. You could possibly tell me about your family? Things to do here in the dawnwalker clan?"

"I am glad." Khet smiled. His home made him incredibly happy and it pleased him to hear that others were finding a great comfort from being in the lands. Especially those who had originated from outside of it and had a wider perspective of things than he did.
"Let us go."
He replied. "My family is simple enough. My mother has been here for a long time and on her side of the family I have many relatives." He could not even name them all, there were so many. "The brown in my mane comes from her and its a common colour amongst her side. My father was from a desert, but a different desert from this. It was a place where the lions were as red as blood and fierce as fierce can be. He left there when he was younger and eventually found his home here, with my mother. Love kept him rooted." He was clearly very proud of his family.
"And of things to do, there is much, but it depends on what path you take. Traditionally a child follows the path of his parents. My father is a guardian and so that is what I strive to be. For a rogue, there are many doors open. Is there something that would interest you most? No offence intended, Miss, but you do not seem to be the type who would become a guardian."

His kind and gentlemenly attitude made Tifara begin to see Khet in a new light. She still wasn't 100% in trust with him but he was atleast behaving which she found calming. "I see, it must be nice to have such rich family history." She spoke somewhat wistfully. "Oh-" She didn't like the fierce or blood aspect, it just wasn't in her nature. " You care very much." Tifara knew she spoke the obvious but she felt like it needed to be said.
A giggle escaped before she could stop it and...and it felt great. "No I am so not guardian material. No, I would rather create things, pretty things that would bring smiles to faces and build memories."

"I feel very privileged." He replied, certainly proud of his heritage and of his bloodlines. "But I am glad I was born here and not in my father's land. It sounds a curious place but I am a defender. It was what I was destined to be." He wouldn't want to fight for any other reason than to protect those who couldn't protect themselves.
"An artisan." He nodded in agreement. "I think that would certainly suit you. Unfortunately I don't know any artisans to recommend you to visit. I'm sure that someone would be willing to teach you. We are a friendly people who love to share our knowledge. To keep it alive."
He paused, inhaling deeply at the scent of water. "Besides that, the lions here are very fond of their trinkets. I think sometimes they would view those without something sparkling on them as something of an oddity." He laughed. "I'm sure you'll fit in just fine."

Tifara was interested in what the other was saying, "Hmm I see." Before nodding her head in agreement as she herself believed in destiny and fate playing a role in ones life. " I have witnessed such kindness from those I have met thus far and it has put me much at ease." He had a nice laugh, a mixture of kindness and free-spirited then most, it made her smile. "Yes trinkets are lovely things they can hold many meanings of the past, present, and future. An artisan would suit me best and I have heard some talk about what they do."
Suddenly a sharp crack rendered the air and maybe Tifara jumped with fright. Looking upward she noticed the sky becoming vastly darkened by an approaching storm. "I guess that is our que to head for shelter from this storm. I will have to visit my friend another time I suppose." Tifara turned to look her younger male. "We will meet again later or another time I promise. It was very nice to meet you."

Khet felt as if he had made a friend that day. It pleased him to know that others were coming from the outside lands, to find a home here. A place where they could belong. He was so heart-achingly proud of his homeland and all those who lived within it.
"Getting caught out in a storm would not be a pleasant thing. Take care of yourself, Tifara." He dipped his head and gave her a polite farewell. He began to move off towards shelter, but he would pause to ensure that she had made it in safely before the storm hit. He wouldn't abandon anyone in a storm if they had need of assistance.
It just wasn't his way.
