3 AM.
Nary a light in the small town was lit anymore, save for a few straggling street lamps that were so old, they barely cast but a measly glow upon the blackened streets. The only sound besides the occasional hoot of an owl was a stretching clinking sort of sound from under the shadow of a large oak at the town's gate, where stood Sibelius, clenching and unclenching his gauntlet-covered hand.
Sheer boredom.
He sighed, dragging a hand across his forehead and brushing a lock of his dark hair from his face, looking out at the end of the path with his steely, wolfish eyes. The man hated waiting. He truly, truly hated waiting. Disregard he was there early anyways, but when he was there, and they were not, it didn't matter. They were late.
Mixed emotions ran through his veins at the prospect that night would bring them all. Thrill of the upcoming battles to be had as they broke into a Witch Eater's stronghold, excitement for being able to fight alongside his comrades, and annoyance that he had to be there in the first place, and not keeping a careful eye on the girl he had taken as his trainee. It sickened him to think of what she might be doing without his critical eye on her, with that Majin boy....foolish girl. Damn it! It made him absolutely seethe. He had to smash something, break something else, and maim somebody.
His thoughts were interrupted as he heard familiar footsteps drawing closer. "Cruor?" he spoke silently into the darkness, standing up. "Or is it Ashkii? Please say it's both of you, I'm not patient enough to wait tonight. I want to break some faces."

Cruor knew that he was needed by Sibelius for a mission, a mission that would no doubt work out all of the aggression he had just acquired. They had received some new recruits recently and they all seemed to be disgustingly starry-eyed when in the presence of a Black Heart... Any Black Heart. However many of his fellow Black Hearts had abandoned him to the mass of recruits and were, most likely, laughing at him behind closed doors now. After a great deal of questions were answered and a final, nasty snarl at a particularly annoying male about being needed elsewhere he trudged grumpily in the direction of where he was to be meeting Sibelius.
It wasn't really that he disliked dealing with recruits, more than it wasn't his job and he didn't like being treated like some great and amazing knight that rescued princesses. His job was brutal, full of blood and majins sobbing and pleading for their lives. He hadn't want to jade the new recruits with his stories but it disgusted him that any of them would join without knowing the truth behind what the reapers really were. Oh well, it wasn't really just job to care he supposed.
At the sound of Sibelius' voice he quickened his pace a little, giving a shake of his head when he could see the other man. He lifted a hand, calling a little magic to summon a flame to his upturned palm, illuminating his face so the other man could see better. He extinguished the flickering flame after a few moments, coming to a halt before the other man, shaking his head and rolling his eyes.
"Cruor. Ashkii is coming with us? He is the opposite of punctual..." he grumbled before shaking his head and looking back to Sibelius. "I apologize for being late. Got ditched with new recruits. A very... Naive bunch of new recruits."
Cruor glanced up and down the hall, hoping to hear the sound of armored boots on stone; Ashkii was typically not very subtle. He was feeling restless and agitated after all the attention and he wanted to, well, go out and kill something. It would most likely due wonders to his disposition... Despite the fact that Askii was coming. He could ignore the other Mononoke just this once... Hopefully.
"I wish he'd get here already. If he isn't here soon I'll just have to take my aggression out on him."

A mission was a mission on top of all the other missions. Ashkii may be a black heart, and a talented one at that, but he had better things and time do with as he pleased.
Even now, he was leaving his pretty little witch in their payed for hotel room after a playful romp to go on a said mission. With two of the most grumpiest people in the whole association. s**t, Even he would flake out if he hadn't been asked by his pretty little cousin Graveyard to watch over her little Dragon Pet. He wasn't sure what his cousin saw in the stick up his a** Mythical beast anyways, Ashkii was a MUCH better man after all.
Gambling and womanizer aside.
He heard Sib's call out for them before grinning, the man was always early. Then he heard Cruor's comment before gritting his teeth. Hah! He wasn't late....just fashionably on time. "Funny Cruor, I've been following you for the past five minutes and you haven't even noticed." Ash grinned as he came in view from the shadows, his light armor gleamed from the glow of Cruor's magical flame before he rested the bow-scythe over his shoulder and yawned. No he hadn't really been following Cruor....at all.
"I heard about your misfortune with the new recruits, sucks for you." Ash smiled again before turning to look at Sibelius. "I'm here, Cruor's here, Your here....Ready to take out a nest of the abominations?" Obviously Ashkii didn't feel the need to establish what needed to be done after all. He knew well enough that they had scouted out a whole herd of the wolves, and like the hunter in little red riding hood, he had no fondness for wolves who preyed on the weaker. "By the way Cruor, Have you stopped talking to my cousin yet? I get really tired of her asking me and coming to visit the Black hearts to see you." and not himself. He smiled/glared at the dragon and stayed a safe distance away. While he liked to piss the dragon off (cause let's face it, it wasn't hard) He didn't like getting hurt by him.

A cold smirk spread across his lips as Sibelius imagined snarky little newblings attempting to latch onto Cruor's underbelly. "Mm, yes," he sighed. "It brings back fond memories of nearly strangling several human beings into the compliance of simply shutting up. Ah, I miss those days...But not really." he added as a small jest to Cruor.
His ears pricked as he heard the always-less-than-quiet Ashkii approach, raising an eyebrow at the two. He hadn't yet worked with both of them together, but he knew enough about them to understand this mission could be filled with quite a lot of friction. Both were worthy blackhearts, both talented, but by the gods, did they permeate the aura of a bitter old couple too poor to divorce.
"Ashkii," he acknowledged him, taking several steps to meet the two as they approached. "You reek of a cheap hotel, again." One thing that Sibelius was talented in (besides his horrific and slightly uncontrollable strength) was his sense of smell, which is partially what got him to where he was. If a person was a Majin, he could smell it. If they were recently with a Majin, he could smell it. If they had just been with a questionable girl who was barely over the age limit.............
He grinned.
"Your cousin? Isn't she an A.L?" the grin faded. A lot of the Ars Lilium sympathized with Majin, the fools.

"I had hoped that they were finally behind me..." Cruor shook his head before before suddenly rolling his eyes, growling a little, quietly, in annoyance. "Actually, Akshii, your footsteps came from the opposite direction mine did. Your lies are painfully transparent."
When they had first met Cruor hadn't really detected any animosity from the other man. Of course, Akshii's social life disgusted him to a degree, as it did many, but he hadn't truly ever had a problem with him. However he had started to become incredibly... Confrontational recently... And it had only taken him a few minutes to come to the conclusion that it was Graveyard that had upset him... Mainly because the man was so obvious about it.
"Out whoring again, it would seem." he muttered, his tone bland, more tired than annoyed, ignoring his statement about the recruits. "Don't you ever take your position seriously? Wait, don't answer that."
Cruor could already tell that this mission was going to be a painful one, especially considering the way that Ashkii was already baiting him; just what he needed that day. He looked the man over with obvious disdain, noting his messy hair, the smell, the air of superiority. If he didn't have such a great deal of patience he most likely would have hit the other man by now. Not that that thought wasn't tempting but they had a job to do.
"No, she hasn't. Perhaps you should speak to her about that, not me." Cruor retorted, arching a brow at the other man before glancing back to Sibelius. "Graveyard is an Ars Lillium, yes. Is there anything we should know before we head out? I'd like to get the smell of Ashkii's cheap thrills out of my nostrils."

"Yeah Yeah." Ashkii waved his hand, putting anything Cruor said behind him before grinning at Sibelius, "Cheap? I clearly remembering it cost me a pretty amount of my pay to have a room for oh about...4 hours or so before I got you summons." He grinned again at both of the men before puffing his chest out. "You guys need to get laid, obviously. Both of you seem grumpier then usual." He nodded as if that was the most obvious conclusion, like that solved all the problems in the world before he shrugged at Sib.
"Yeah, Graveyard is a Ars Lilium." He turned to blink at Cruor before his eyes hooded over. In truth, he liked the Dragon well enough, he just didn't like how close he was with Graveyard. Though they called each other cousins, Ashkii and Graveyard we're no more related then water and earth. There blood held no bond to each other and called each other cousins purely from being the same tribe. No Ashkii was very deeply and very confusingly...in love? Loving? Or whatever of Graveyard. Almost in a idolizing way.
He sighed before propping the bow up again. "Though Graveyard is not our mission here is she? Cruor has a excellent question. Should we know anything before we move in? And is it going to be the same plan as usual? I cover your guys asses from the back while you rush forward into the fray?" Though Ashkii hated to phrase it like that, he was the long range fighter of the black heart trio present. Cruor had a scythe that changed forms, while Sibelius had to giant a** chained balls (haha). Ashkii had his Bow and arrows made of concentrated lightning. If you really thought of it, they made a excellent team. Shame Graveyard wasn't here, otherwise she'd be the healer and status effect witch of the group. Then they'd be perfectly balanced. Just thinking of Gravy going to the pit of witch eaters they were going to know had the Black heart gritting his teeth.
"We should head out soon before they make their move." He sighed again. s**t man, he just wanted to kill them and be done with it.

"L-LAID!?" Sibelius spat, bristling like a disgruntled beast. "My sex life is perfectly intact, thank you." It was really such a lie. Though flirty, and though he did love women, Sibelius hadn't had a woman in years, mostly due to his position at Poena Privus taking all of his time, he'd like to say. The truth was that, behind his thorny exterior, there existed a simple man who just wanted one lady to idolize him for all eternity, without any communal diseases. And now, well.... The one he had started to want was not even yet a woman, and didn't even have half an inkling, too preoccupied with her Majin boytoy. Ugh. What a revolting image.... It made him want to tear asunder the nest they were attacking even more.
"Aherm. A plan, yes." he kept his scrutinizing gaze on Ashkii and Cruor a moment longer, before swiping a stick from the tree he lurked under, and squatted to his knees, drawing a diagram in the dirt on the ground.
"There, that's the main building. They call it an orphanage, but to them it's more like a farm of cows to milk. We'll go through there, and this larger building behind it...that's the nest. SO." he began to draw complex arrows going hither and thither. "First we enter here, and then separate, and regroup to confuse them, and then Cruor will enter room number three from the east, while Ashkii will ascend from above, and I will come through the basement from the west and...."
This was ridiculous, he had no real plan. With an air of angst, he scratched out the diagram in the dirt and threw the stick into a bush. <******** it, we'll just break in through the front door and smash them all. Just not the kids."

Cruor scoffed in response to the comment about needing to get laid, shaking his head at the other Black Heart. Unlike Ashkii he wasn't an incredibly sexual person but, despite what he thought, he hadn't exactly been inactive in the sex department. After Sibelius outburst his eyes slid back to the archer, one brow lifting in question; he didn't want this guy to know anything about his sex life. Period.
"It's cute that you think your sexual prowess gives you some form of edge socially." he muttered, looking completely unimpressed. "I'm sure your partners are brilliant at faking considering you think so well of yourself."
His gaze darted between Sibelius and Ashkii for a few moments before he shifted to lean his hip against the wall, folding his arms across his chest. He was growing more and more agitated as time passed, something he could blame on his pent up and now renewed frustration from the day. Honestly he just wanted to skip the plan and dive right in to killing everything in the damn nest.
"You're right, Graveyard, isn't the focus here." Cruor sighed, his gaze sliding down to the dirt, mentally musing to himself. I doubt I'd even be able to hold a civil conversation with her in this state, anyways.
Cruor listened to the plan, eyes hooding a little as he sighed and gave a slow nod, mentally preparing himself for a solo attack with incoming backup. However when Sibelius decided to literally and figuratively scratch the plan, he seemed to brighten a little, posture straightening. A slow, dangerous smirk curved his lips at the change in the 'plan', tongue darting out to wet his lips in anticipation; that was more like what he was used to. It had served them well in the fight at the ball, hadn't it?
"Just how I like it." Cruor breathed, giving a quick nod. "Alright then, let's head out, if you're ready."

"Yes, defenitly grumpier then usual." Ashkii grinned before sighing. Poor Cruor, maybe he needed to be hooked up with someone. Instantly feeling bad for taunting the dragon, he held out his hand before smiling, "Okay okay, your killing my ego here. Let's call a truce and then after we kill everything, if you still feel upset, you can duke it out with me over the comments of your sexual prowess as you put it." He didn't even extend the over to Sibelius though, because he'd probably die at the hands of the Black heart anyways.
"Actually, I retract my statement because of your outburst, Cruor needs to kill things and you need to get laid Sibelius. Obviously." He rose an eyebrow as they went to the plan making part of their little meeting before snorting.
At first he thought Sibelius was actually going to pull something out, but then, of course like always, the man destroyed it and said what they all thought in the first place.
"Bad-a-boom." Ashkii smiled before tucking the bow away and stretching. Like he thought before, they rushed the front and he made sure none of the witch eaters flew away. The great thing about being a Archer in the black hearts, Those witch eaters had wings that allowed them to fly away. And he was just the person to shoot them down. Literally.
Rolling his neck he grinned with them. "Let's do this shall we?" he waited for Sibelius to take the lead before falling in step with Cruor.

"Laid...." Sibelius muttered, his brows furrowing in withdrawn angst. "God damn Majin!"
Two thuds sounded as two gargantuan, spiked metal flails dropped from each hand, skidding behind him as he ran forward, toward the building he motioned to before. He stopped just short of the building, both flails sailing forward and smashing the large, double-doored entrance to splinters. "Knock knock." he growled, trudging inside begrudgingly. He gave a glance back to Cruor and Ashkii, motioning with a c**k of his head for them to join him.
A simple sniff of the air told him what he needed to know. "Kids are upstairs. Couple of them are Majin, but they aren't why we're here. Witch Eaters are...." he shut his eyes, drawing in the scent of the air around them slowly. "....Below. Far below, burrowing like filthy rats. Cruor, if you would burn us a path down, that would be rather swell."
Sibelius was, although gruff and thorny, a person who genuinely cared about the state of his comrades. To fight together in battle forged a special kind of companionship that others could not truly understand, and it filled him with a specific duty of watching their backs. It was why he was able to continue his life as a Blackheart, one who served directly under the master....even if you didn't necessarily like your comrades, they became like your brothers and sisters, your family. It was this very fact that made him capable of doing the damage he would do shortly without any remorse.

Cruor lifted a brow at Ashkii's comment, grudgingly accepting what might have been the closest thing to an apology he'd ever get. He gave a small nod of his head before moving to follow Sibelius to their target, hands flexing at his sides. His lips twisted up in a smirk as the other man knocked the door in with his ball and chain, following him inside without hesitation; judging from the lack of screeching nobody had been on that floor at all. He gave a quick nod at the other man's deduction before seeming to brighten when he was told to burn them a path down; he loved using his pyromancy.
"I will have to be careful to prevent the entire structure from collapsing at first." He murmured, striding forward towards the center of the area, the area furthest from any form of supports, and crouched, placing his hands on the floor. "I'll drop down first, make sure the area is secure."
Closing his eyes Cruor called upon his pyromancy, creating a circle of flame just big enough to sear through the area he was crouched in. Beneath the magical flame the floor gave way easily, dropping him down onto the next floor where he landed in a crouch, quickly glancing around the room; empty, but he could smell that they had been down here. He lifted his hand and lit a flame to doublecheck, slowly raising from his crouch and circling the room, securing it.
"Clear!" Cruor called up, still checking the others before running his hand over a panel and lightly knocking; hollow. "I've found the tunnel they use to get down further."
This time he didn't worry about subtlety, not when there could be Witch Eaters just beyond this panel waiting to devour their hearts. The flame in his palm expanded, morphing into a sizeable ball of fire before he flung it none-to-gently at the wooden panel. As it breached the wood he pushed the magic forward, filling a large portion of the beginning of the tunnel with fire. He heard a shriek and smirked, glancing back at the other two and lifting his brows.
"Got one already." he mused, extinguishing the flames in the tunnel with a flick of his hand, moving to head into the tunnel as he drew his scythe. "May the best man win."

Ashkii held back behind the two front man as he began to fill his quicker with his magical arrows. Zeus's lightning shimmered in his hands, before laying in the quiver just waiting to be plucked out. The breaking of doors and the burnign of the ground was something he was use to with the two men. His bright yellow eyes though stayed focused on around them.
"I'll say, hate to follow you right into the hornets nest Cruor." He only hoped that where the dragon dropped down was literally not the Majin's nest, otherwise they'd be ********. In the a**...hard. Not a thrilling idea.
When he heard the all clear, he dropped down as well, landing on his feet before strumming his arrows in in his bow and letting some go. He caught one crawling in the ceiling while Cruor burned the s**t out of another.
Ash nodded to Cruor before letting arrows fly past the dragon. "We plan too." He grinned as he continued shooting, clearing a path for the Dragon and rushing forward. A witch eater, pretty little blonde rushed him from the door, hissing at him as he turned his bow and shot a arrow right through her nonexsistent heart.
And yeah, He didn't feel like Cupid what so ever.

"Hey!!" he roared with indignation. "Leave some for Sibelius!"
He jumped down the hole, landing with a heavy thud, followed by two heavier thuds that cracked the floor beneath them. Shrill screams and threats were beginning to fill the air as more lesser-witch-eaters filled the room, startled, frightened, angry, fuming that their precious hideout had been invaded.
"That best man winning thing," sibelius growled, letting one flail speed forward, pinning a male witch eater to the wall. "Will definitely go to me!" he closed the gap between them, digging into its chest with his gauntlet'd hand, tearing out the witch hearts it had stolen, as well as its majin seed.
"Remember not to let these hearts or seeds go to waste," he reminded them, absorbing the precious loot into the gauntlet. "We need to return them to Poena Privus."
There she was, a young woman with long, wavy black hair, huddled in a corner, shaking, trembling in fear. Large tears welled up in her eyes as she witnessed the horror of her own comrades falling. Sibelius turned his cold gaze onto her....Only one witch heart did she possess, at least, that he could scent on her. Had it been any other day or place, he might even be inclined to let her go. He wasn't a brute, or cold and cruel in general. There were shades of grey, even with the Majin, even with the Witch Eaters. Her demeanor told him that the heart she possessed must have come to her by accident or fate, or even a gift for all he knew.
But now, at this moment, in this place, it made no difference. She was a walking corpse to him, one he had to place back in the grave. It was quick -- a quick move to her location, and a rush of his clawed fingers into where the heart beat, and it was over. Her tearful eyes became blank, and her lips stopped trembling in fear.
"These," he grumbled, standing to look at his fellows. The room was now empty. "are pawns. I think there is one here, a puppeteer of sorts, a very, very strong one. If you two aren't man enough for the job, I think I can take him on alone, if you're scared." his lips curved into a taunting grin.

Cruor took a moment to smirk back at Sibelius as he drew and transformed his scythe into a Great Sword, beginning to hack at the enemies before him. He made sure to keep a protective barrier of heat around him, making invading his personal space agonizing. He took Sibelius' advice, collecting the Seeds and Hearts of the Witch Eaters he killed and tucking them away safely.
It felt natural to fall into the rhythm of battle next to Sibelius, just like the last time they had fought together. It had been quite some time that he had fought next to someone quite as good as the other man and it was refreshing. All they needed was body language or an exchanged look, no verbal communication was necessary to know when to duck or when to strike, when to take an opening or when to hold position. Honestly it was nice to be able to count on someone again.
"As if I could resist the temptation of destroying a powerful Witch Eater." Cruor countered, snorting. "I won't withdraw until everything in this nest is dead."
He sliced another Witch Eater in half, glancing over at Sibelius and arching a brow, the look challenging. He knew the other man was more than capable of handling this on his own but there was no way that he would let him. No, he had a rather sizeable hatred when it came to Witch Eaters, so the mere threat of danger was not enough to scare him out of going after one. After all, he was a Black Heart, not some timid Witchling.
"Lead the way, Sibelius." he gestured down the tunnel before calling back to the other Black Heart. "Ashkii! You coming or not?"

Damn Majins like to hoard around. When he wasn't shooting his bolts of magic, collecting his hearts. His jar of hearts......he was fending off one very big, very angry Witch Eater at the moment. Being a Long range Black Heart was hard when A lot of the enemies preferred close combat.
Falling back, he had to keep the said witch eater from reaching into him and taking his heart before snarling back at it. "Just cause I can't shoot you, don't mean I can't kill you big boy." He heaved, turning his bow inside out and using it like a sword. Pointy end into the big Witch eater's chest.
"s**t man, I don't care who we take out..." He pushed himself up, dusting the Majin remains off as the seed settled in his bow-scythe.
"I have to agree with Cruor..." He came to stand by the man before looking at Sibelius, "We don't go until everyone of them is dead." He cocked his bow and sighed, "Mannnnnnnnnnnnn. I guess your the forefront Sibelius, try not to die when the thing attacks you first okay?" He scoffed before drawing on his magic.
