Technically this was really, the only sane option he had. Julie was…Julie. Julie… just. No. He’d gone that route before but lo, it yielded only sadness, cookies, and possible missions that to him had nothing to do with being an actual moon hunter. He wanted to get something that was more geared towards his division but with no one aside from the resident yandere. And marcus just wasn’t that into yandere, sorry. He liked living thank you. Aria out of all the hunters aside from Clarice, seemed to be the most mentally stable. Cass never had any issues with her and she might have had that Red thing but frankly?
Marcus would take what he could get.
He’d been told she was last in the Library and lucky for him, she was still there when he arrived. Knocking his knuckles against a book case he inclined his head at her. “Miss Aria, do you have some time to help me with something? I promise it has nothing to do with Cass. It’s more- Moon hunter related.”

The knock against the bookcase drew Aria's eyes up from the book she was looking at, her hand absently reaching for an index card to mark her place in the book. "You are... Marcus, right? With Cass?" Aria ventured, gesturing with her hand towards the empty seat opposite of her. When it came down to it, she honestly did not know the trainees from the other division that well. She felt that it wasn't her place. When it came to knowing her Mists, however...
She knew a bit about Marcus. At least, she knew he was a Moon Trainee and was with her Cassandra. That was the extent of it. "What do you need?" She inquired, curious.

Awkward moment in Deus: When a division lead only knew you because you were dating someone from their division. "Er, yeah. Cass and I. Yes well. That's not why I'm here." He had a slight pink to his cheeks at the inquiry. "I realize this may seem a bit odd to ask but I'd like some help as a moon trainee." He frowned. "Julie is...." his voice trailed off. He was sure she was a capable hunter, (or something) but Aria might be Julie's friend, (or something).
How could you say you thought your division assistant was crazy? He didn't plan to, not anytime soon. "I feel uncomfortable requesting training from her. There are some moon hunters on the island that have been helping me with spars but aside from that not much else. I thought as the mist lead, you'd be a good person to ask for help."

Aria nodded understandably when Marcus clarified that it wasn't concerning Cass. Good. This meant that whatever it was, it probably didn't have anything to deal directly with her which meant less wor-
Or not.
"Julie is more capable than you'd expect," Aria pointed out. "If not for her, things would be rather... trying, I'd imagine. You should count yourself lucky to be under her, as a moon. She is very protective, and is one of the best defenders we have at Deus Ex."
"Nevertheless," Aria continued with a shrug, "What exactly do you need my assistance with? Defending? Healing? Building? Support? Or is it less of a specific thing you'd like to learn about, or a general anything and everything that has to deal with the moon division?"

He shook his head. "It's not that I question her skills just- other things." Like crazy requests. Sorry Aria, Julie flat out scared him in many ways. "But- In general everything that has to deal with the moon division. I've done some clean up work in the towns but nothing technical."
As in he'd managed to not break more than he fixed and what he fixed anyone with half a brain might be able to do. "Just a general overall scope though of the division is kind of what I was hoping for." He frowned. "I'm sorry that it's not very specific, but I've not had much focused training." Or any really.

Aria shrugged the discussion concerning Julie off. While her opinion differed, she wasn't going to push her point. However, Marcus' request was... vague. She considered his request. "You do understand that if I train you, I will be treating you like a mist rather than a moon trainee, correct?" She asked, "I can see what I can do for you, however it may not be what you're looking for."

Marcus nodded. He'd come asking for moon help but really, any help with trainee he'd take at this point. "That's more then fine. The fact you'd be willing at all is more then I hoped really." He smiled, ignoring Dis suggesting that he just transfer to Mist in order to be around Cass 24/7. "Just tell me where to start and I'll go at it."

"You say that now, but once we get going..." Aria flashed Marcus a grin. It wasn't the sort of grin that as meant to be reassuring. "Here's what we'll go with for now... First. Are you licensed for any runic weapons?"

He didn't like that grin. That was the type of grin you gave someone before terrible things happened. And here, he had been thinking maybe, just maybe, Aria was not cruel or somewhat insane. If only. You grinned at him Aria, he wasn't making any more assumptions.
"I've taken the necessary requirements for the barrier daggers, hand torches, and trapping guns. Other then those, not allowed until I've passed the training is my understanding."

She did warn you, Marcus. It wasn't too late to thank her for her time and retreat. Aria pulled a blank sheet of paper free from the stack she had nearby and was scribbling something down on it with a pen. "So you've done pretty well, however you're missing one essential thing." She stopped and looked up at Marcus. "Tell me, in your own words, what you think it means to be part of the Moon division."

Alas, Marcus was determined and in many ways optimistically foolish. He liked to think the best of people but at Deus it was proving to be something of a challenge, (he admit though, he'd given up on seeing anything 'positive' about Caelius). Aria's question did make him pause and think. It wasn't something he got ever asked really, nor, did he ever really put thought into. Unsure he gave his best attempt at an answer. "To look out for others? I'd say defend and protect others but, in a way all of Deus ex does that? In terms of humanity I mean." He frowned, unsure if there was even a good answer. "I don't put much thought into it really."

Aria visibly winced. "Marcus, that's... part true. Think in terms of divisions. What does the Moon division do that makes it different from Sun or Life or Death? If all hunters defended humanity, then why are we in different divisions?"

s**t Aria, he didn't know. Once more Marcus was mentally hitting a road block. "....Aside from our coats? Uhhh-" He felt dumb, looking off to the side. "We can supposedly heal, but life can do that just as well I'm told, we build but that's not a great skill in any fighting situation I've been in yet, and we... die about as fast as sun hunters?" ******** he was not sure at all. Brain was crapping out on him and Dis was mentally hitting his metaphorical head against a wall.
"We just.. defend people. Other hunters in missions. Honestly the most I've heard of the moon division is we're just.. fodder." He sighed. "We're fodder that you stick out so others don't die as quickly."

"Tch. Sorry, Mists are the fodder. Not Moon." Aria corrected, rolling her eyes. "Mists are expected to fill in for any role at any given time, no matter what. We are the disposible substitutes," she added bitterly, "It falls to us to be able to adapt. And if we fail to? Mission gets blamed on us."
"You on the other hand," she continued on without a pause, "are part of the Moon division. The Moon division is all about support similar to the Mist division. It is your responsibility to make sure that hunters make it back in one piece. And to make sure that they stay in one piece. While the Life Labs also heal, it is thanks to the Moon division that many are still standing. Many hunters owe their lives to the Moon division. Life labs may have the precision to heal, but it is through the Moon division that many heal and find themselves under. How many injured stay in the Life Labs, given the chance?" She shook her head. "Not many, if you know what's good for you. The sooner you're on your feet, the better. Moon hunters assist in this. But that is after the mission. On the mission itself, Moon hunters have the same function. They keep the group together, heal and defend as needed."
Aria looked at him thoughtfully. "Many Moon hunters on mission create barriers to defend the camp. Others specialize in on-the-site healing. You honestly don't strike me as working in either field. Tell me... how much thought have you given to bodyguarding?"

Ouch. That.. wow that had to suck when you were the leader of a division and- wow. He probably had sounded shitty now didn't he? Listening to her explain it was a hell of a lot more insightful then the general 'You defend s**t' he often got. "That... make sense. And no, I can't think of anyone who wants to be in the labs." Excepts those running experiments.
Pulling the earing off he set in front of him, spinning it around. "Dis is... well he's more of the mind of 'kill s**t before it kills you' form of 'defense'" He used finger quotes for that. Another spin of the weapon and he just pulled it back into his hands. "But, no, I hadn't really. Mostly tried my hand at just construction work."
