 Abisen walked down a hillside on a slightly warn path. His glow sticks clanked together as he walked. He'd taken a small walk to admire the daytime. He'd taken to spending more time awake at night when Twilight was up but it sure felt good to have the sun warming his coat now. He'd just have to make sure to be there when Twilight woke up. He liked being there to be the first thing she saw to start her day. Just thinking about his sparkling night sky brought a smile to his face.

 She normally would've been found in her room or an equally quiet place at this time. But no, her housemates thought that she was getting lonely and forced her outside, to put the situation politely. Checkmate was frustrated that they didn't understand that she preferred to be in solitude than with other people. But there was no way they would let her back in, not until they forgot that she was outside anyway.
So Checkmate wandered around a random hillside aimlessly. She didn't really care what she was doing, just as long as it wasted time. Some sort of clanking noise drew her attention to a pink male noodle that was also wandering about. She had never seen so many glowsticks on a noodle so Checkmate watched him with curiosity.

Music filled his head once more and his gait changed like it often did to a mixture of dance and walking. He'd been like this since he was a kit. It was normal to have music there to dance since both his parents were how they were. Luckily it was one of his odd things that Twilight didn't mind. As he thought, he looked around, spotting a darkly colored fox a bit away. Stopping abruptly, he had that deer in the headlights look he often got when faced with meeting new persons. His ears canted to the side some and he found himself hunkering down to the ground before looking around. Spotting a bush near by, he scooted along his belly, slinking into the bush to hide and peer out at the other noodle.

Checkmate was already thinking of the possible ways that the noodle could react once he saw her, but fleeing was low on the list in terms of probability. Her eyes widened as he slunk away, and she hesitated before going after him. Wouldn't approaching him scare him even more? Still, she didn't want anyone to be scared of her, especially since she had done nothing wrong. Checkmate slowly walked towards him, crouching a bit so she could meet eye to eye. "What's wrong? It's not me is it?"

The inner shade of the bush lit up with the many colors of his glow sticks as he was surprisingly met eye to eye by the strange female. His ears flicked lightly as she smoke and he shook his head before shrugging. "No.. not really..." Twilight would have been a nice buffer to have at the moment. He could have pressed himself against her side and at least felt her comfort. His nose gave a wiggle as he sniffed at the unfamiliar girl to get an idea of where she came from and the like.

"Then won't you come out?" Checkmate tried to sound as gentle as possible but her puzzlement could be heard when she spoke. She could only assume that this noodle was incredibly shy but she didn't exactly know how to coax someone like that out of a bush. She sat down in front of him anyway, since she didn't really have anything else to do but hold a one-sided conversation.
"Your glow sticks are pretty." She nodded at the colorful lights. "Where did you get them all?"

He shook his head some. He wasn't ready to come out into the open just yet. At the mention of his glow sticks, he looked down at the glittering, glowing things and then back up. "My parents gave them to me..." Slowly, his nose peeked out from the bush. "My father found them for me and my mother got them with the glitter so that even when it's not dark they catch your eye..." Such an odd think.. He was so painfully shy yet his parents had gifted him something that would always call attention to him. It was either a bad joke.. or their attempt to make him more sociably outside of the family.

Well at least she got him to talk. Checkmate was reassured by this and kept on talking. "You have some nice parents then. I thought you got them at a rave party... I've never been to one of those though. I just heard about it." She shrugged, causing her hair to shift. She was rambling, which she didn't like very much, but at least it was better than sitting in awkward silence. "My name is Checkmate. What's yours?"

"Me... a p-party?? with lots of others?? No.. sadly I've always been painfully shy..." His face slowly came into view from the bush, though his body still remained hidden within. "I'm Abisen.." He stated offering a small friendly smile. His mate and family wouldn't want him to stay hunkered down being rude.. they'd rather him try to make friends if he could.

"I can see that you're painfully shy..." Checkmate remarked accidentally on purpose. She was mentally scoffing at her housemates, who kicked her outside for being a loner, when they should appreciate that she wasn't as timid as this noodle. But no, being the weird souls they are, they would still force her to make friends no matter the objections.
"But it's not as bad as you think, if you can hold up a conversation this long." She said, then peered into the bushes where Abisen was hiding. "Won't staying there like that give you cramps?"

Abisen let out a weak chuckle. "It use to be a whole lot worse.. My mate and children have helped me more than I realize." Shaking his head he moved back enough when she peered back in after him. "I suppose it might.... Though it's not so much cramps as that annoying tingle in the legs... Oh and the occasional stick that pokes you."

Checkmate's mouth formed a small 'o' when she heard that Abisen had a mate and children. He looked a bit younger than that, though admittedly she didn't get a good look before he went diving into the bushes.
"There might be bugs in there that could bite you too." She said. Maybe he'll want to come out if she mentioned all the nasty things that a bush has to offer but that wouldn't be exactly nice... Instead she decided to keep the conversation going in the other direction. "So what's your mate and children like?"

Abisen looked around and slowly decided to remove himself from the bush. As he unfolded himself from his hiding spot, he found himself face to face with her on a more equal level. "Twilight? She's the sparkling night sky that lights the glow within my heart." He smiled fondly as he spoke. "And our children are every bit as wonderful as their mother.. Though I rarely see one of my two daughters.. our two sons on the other hand I get to see often."

Checkmate had the faintest of smiles as Abisen made his way out of the bush. And she noticed that he seemed to brighten up a bit when he talked about his family. She could tell that they were obviously very dear to him, enough so that he could overcome his shyness anyways.
"Four kits? That's quite a large family." Checkmate remarked. "It's not so much of a hassle though, now that they've all grown up...?"

Abisen chuckled a bit, scratching the back of his head idly. "Yeah.. well all four at once was a real eye opener.. Especially since not long after I became a big brother.. three more siblings on top of the two I already had.. You could say we've expanded exponentially.." He shook his head lightly. "Not really.. Though I do worry about them some times. I know that Rasui has his stories to keep him occupied in work and San.. She's a local artist though most of her work is for Rasui's stories.. Sothis is very much like his mother so it's easy not to worry about him much. It's Khepri that I worry about.. She's not been around much so.. as a father.. I worry.."
