One thing that he wanted to do, no, needed to do was field out Eva. Gale had a crush on her and he’d set them up more or less. It was only right Marcus try to help his friend by finding out what Eva liked. If Gale had a chance at least. The guy had age against him but- Hope can spring eternal if you could have a basis for it. And with Gale, he needed hope. The guy was a bottle of negativity when it came to relationships and just-

Eva was never one to turn down an invitation to spar--God knew that she needed the practice. Therefore, unsurprisingly, she had responded to Marcus' offer with an enthusiastic "yes" before...well, before pretty much rushing out of her room and down to the training grounds.
Maybe it was thanks to all of Caelius' constant "get down here within 15 minutes" meetings, but Eva had zipped out of her room and down to the designated place within 3 minutes. By the way that she stumbled to a stop in front of Marcus, bent over and panting, it was pretty obvious that she had sprinted over. For a few seconds, she said nothing, too busy catching her breath. Then, straightening up, she shot Marcus a bright grin.
"Morning! Hope I didn't keep you waiting."

.... She had... sprinted... she- "Eva you don't have to like, rush to meet me I mean I have a cell you can text okay?" He chuckled. "Really, I can wait a while. Do you need time to catch your breath?" Marcus took the time to stretch out, Dis asking if he had a plan of if he was just going to 'wing it' and risk everything per-usual.
He was.
But that wasn't the point. The point was that this was going to be some high class bro fielding. Was that even a term? Who the ******** cared, Marcus would have his answers. "But, thank for coming out. It's nice to get some spars in you know?" Play it cool.
This is going to be good.

...Oh yeah, she could have just texted him back, couldn't she? ...OH WELL, too late for that now! At the offer of giving her some extra time to catch her breath, Eva was quick to hold up her hands and shake her head in protest. "Oh--no, no, I'm fine! I" She wanted to jump right into it! Lifting her arms over her head, she did a few stretches before turning back to face him. "Okay, let's do this!"
She stepped back a few paces and held out her hand, the clip from her hair disappearing and materializing as a slender, bladed staff in her hand. Closing her fingers around it, she gave it a twirl. "Ready when you are!" Eva called brightly, grinning.
For all she knew, this was just an innocent little spar, with no other ulterior motives at all.

Sighing he hoped Dis would come around. "Sorry finicky weapon." The blade glowed the deep blue Marcus was familiar with as he swung it in his hand. "Do you mind casual conversation while we spar? Some of us like it, others less so. I'm a bit of a chatter box at times I'm afraid.." Slashing out at her, he aimed for her hand.

Jerking backwards, Eva narrowly managed to get away from Marcus' attack with just a scratch. Shaking out her hand, she grinned up at the intermediate trainee. "Yeah, sure! I tend to be a motor-mouth too, so it would be nice to have a chat while sparring." Kept things interesting, right? Using this as her chance, Eva twirled her staff around, aiming for the back of Marcus' legs with the blunt end of her weapon.
She stepped back immediately after, trying to put some distance between herself and her sparring partner. "So! Any particular topic you have in mind?" She was making this easy for you, Marcus.

Okay, ignoring Dis. Marcus was going to help Gale. As best he could anyway. Wincing as she hit, he grinned. Okay round one. "Well, how about an easy one, what division is your favorite, in terms of those in it, minus out leaders. They're uh...kinda...special." He slashed out at her, "But yeah, favorite division to hang out with. Mine is moon, but I'm bias."

Oh, ho, an interesting question! "Favourite division, huh? ...It's a good thing that you noted that the leaders aren't included." Eva's smile turned a bit wry at that, and then she looked thoughtful, ignoring Chara's protests and twirling her like a baton. "To be honest, I'm probably kind of biased too, so I'd say Death." She took a pause to lunge forward and swing her weapon at Marcus, and then backed up again.
"I mean, I'm a Death trainee, and I'd like to think that I'm close to some of the others in my division, so." Grinning, she gave a little shrug of her shoulders.

Ah yes! Score one for Gale. Now- "Ack- got me right there-" He muttered, his side protesting as his FEAR shield was chipped away. "Ok, next question, who are your favorite people in your division? Odd as it may be, Dakota and Petra are the two I like the most in moon. Dakota kind of reminds me of my younger brother in some ways, and Petra is more then sensible. Oh by the way-" He dove for her arm-

Eva looked thoughtful, resting the blunt side of her weapon on the shoulder as she hummed. "Favourite people in my division? I guess--oh! You know Gumdrop?" The girl grinned at the mention of Dakota, and there was a flash of recognition at Petra's name. Reine's sister and Robert's fiancee, right?
"Mm, but anyways! I don't know, I kind of like everyone I meet, though I guess Puppy--Otto--and Gale come to mind first. Then there's Wilson, Deryk, and..." Uh...
"...And I can't really remember who else is in the division off the top of my head." Oops. BUT UHH, Eva's memory failures aside? Since Marcus said that she could ask a question of her own, the girl grinned, moving closer and giving him a friendly (and hard) elbow in the ribs. "I've seen you around with that girl--Cass?--a lot. What's going on there, huh?" Her tone was teasing, indicating that she knew exactly what was going on there.

Point two for Gale! It was looking good for the other death trainee, but, these were pretty vague questions. He needed to go deeper. Uh- "Oh!" He chuckled at the jab. "Um well-" Crap, that was out of the blue. "She and I- We- that is um-" He could feel his face turning red. "We're...a couple. Cass is... she's good for me. Reminds me not to be so uptight about things all the time. I mean it's nice to come back from a shitty mission and just have someone there, waiting you know?" Ah, boy friend bliss~
"Well, um speaking of relationships, you have anybody? You seem like the type to have quite a few admirers." He smiled, going for a stab her arms. "Got anybody in mind?" He winced at the hit, damn he needed to be careful about that.

The grin on Eva's face only grew at just how flustered Marcus seemed at the mention of Cass. Ah, yes, so she had been right! But then again, she had already known that anyways. Propping her free hand up on her hip, she opened her mouth to speak when she suddenly felt the blade slam into her arms, hard. Had it not been for her FEAR shield...
...Well, no one wanted to think about those kinds of things.
Eva reeled backwards in surprise, digging Chara's blade into the ground to steady herself. Slowly, the look of shock on her face faded, replaced instead by her characteristic smile. "Nice one! Definitely can't underestimate you, can I?" Straightening, she pulled her blade free and twirled it to face Marcus, swinging it down in an attempt to retaliate.
"And haha, no! I'm single, though I doubt that I'm the type to have any admirers." Her smile became a little dry, "Wasn't all that popular back home since I was the local crazy."

He laughed at her compliment. "It comes and goes, often it's a bit of luck really, Dis more or less helps but more often than not he just antagonizes me." It was the truth but still, Marcus was sometimes glad for him. Kept him from getting killed didn't it? Eva got him and he staggered back for a second. There was also more good news for Gale. She was single. "Single huh? And you had an admirer what then? And trust me, no one is crazy here, except maybe Julie and the other higher ups. A little unhinged and all that."
Blade went up at her, a gut opening move had they not have any protection.

"Seriously, seriously glad that we're on the same side." Eva winced, rubbing at the spot that had been struck. If there was one thing that she knew for certain, it was that if she was a monster, Marcus would definitely be one of the last people she'd want to go up against.
She cocked her head at the question, lifting her brows. "If I had an admirer? Haha, I don't know--I'd like to meet them and get to know them a little, I guess! Though I'm not entirely sure if I'm the dating kind." Sure, it would be nice to have a boyfriend and all that...but Eva wasn't even all that sure what to do when it came with guys. Sure, she could get along with them fine as friends, but what did being more than that entail?
"And Marcus. Marcus. The higher-ups here aren't a little crazy--they're downright insane."

Rolling his shoulders back, Marcus nodded. "Well, same side in part, with how our superiors act time to time you wonder if it's not actually some kind of twisted game they're playing. Goes into that crazy aspect I suppose." Chuckling Dis asked if he was going to just drop the Gale bomb now. Or if he was going to just poke at their division lead's egos where were unlikely to change anytime soon. "Well-" He swung the blade back for a quick stab. "You do. Sadly, they have no idea if you'd even be interested so I suppose cat's out of the bag, I'm trying to help them out."
Brilliant. No really.
"So, next question, what are some of your favorite things, like what flower or color?"
Why don't you just tell her, not like it's going to be obvious.
