I normally don't talk about what other people are preaching but what do you think of Mark Driscoll and his Mars Hill Church. His name has been popping up a lot on the Christian Left and other Progressive Christian sites. I think he's a bit of an misogynistic, bigoted a** and preys on the insecurities of young men. But that's me. Does he really have any point or is he just trying to appeal to a church going demographic that normally doesn't participate in church.

His way of preaching seems awfully familiar which means he is a stealing bastich that I will mock. Yes, every picture I just googled shows him playing too much pocket pool.. Arrogance, making fun of effeminate men, and sounding too homophobic to be true probably aren't good things for a Christian pastor to be doing but as we saw with cheers for people being put to death, nothing is too severe for the ******** sinners. Can I get a boo rah?

Thanks Dead,

I only watched a few of the youtube videos on him, and from what I seen... I seen his type before, he only does things differently than most the others I seen this from. One of which is he brings in technology into the fray, two he answers questions on the spot in front of everyone.

Other than that, his is like a lot of baptist preachers, I have heard over the years. The only key difference is, Baptist don't take communion, normally

Partial transcript on Driscoll's view of women in leadership.

I think there is a link to the full interview from this blog.

That paints a better picture, about him, than the videos I have watched. After reading that, I kind of see where your coming from. But still, he reminds me of a lot of baptist preachers, I knew. Expecially the older ones....

From what I've read of him on Wikipedia, he holds to Calvanism theology so that's probably why he seems a lot like them since Calvanism is common in the Baptist community from what I understand.

He has a very strong appeal to young men. I personally think its because he preys on their insecurities to be honest but what do you think.

Huh... he seems to think being famous and well known is needed to be a good preacher? That is bull. I know three pastors who are awesome in my own town, that is all that matters.

Though I do know of one here in New Zealand who is nation wide known, who is from my town actually. Brian Tamaki. Man, he is crazy...

It's often the quiet, less well known ones that are really good pastors and touch people's lifes. I know my grandfather had the chance to run a church with 100s of people but he turned it down because he didn't work at a church where he didn't know people personally.

I'm surprised I haven't heard of Mr. Tamaki either.

My pastor gets to know everyone in my church... or tries his best XD

Uh, Brian Tamaki, yeah... meh... I prefer he never becomes internationally famous...
