So she'd followed someone out and about from that room, her stomach rumbling despite the scene she'd witnessed. Ofelia's brother had always commented on her ability to disregard everything terrifying after she saw it, to the point that she often got hungry during horror movies or ate during something gross on television. Part of her had become so insensitive to gore, fear, and whatever else that she obeyed much of her body in the same way that a baby would - her wants and needs came before much else.

Her wants and needs somehow ended up with her getting a jacket and a weapon, one that cursed her loudly in her head even as she walked along the path barefoot. She'd been told she was in something called the 'Sun Division' and she needed to get to her room, though not much else was told and Ofelia found herself staring blankly at a very long hallway with nothing on her feet and a full stomach. Half and half wasn't bad and the woman looked at the paper in her hands and at the doors, paling.

"Ah....Ah dunno if Ah'm gonna be able to find this room. These, that's a lotta numbers." Room 162. She was at room 101. An adventure, perhaps?

Please tell me you know how to read. Please, please. The voice in her head was still new, still creepy, and Ofelia squawked at the sudden imput. She jumped as well, against a wall, and she posed with her hands pressed against its surface as though she were backing away from something. Seriously? You're seriously going to do this? Why? Rue sounded annoyed, which was what Ofelia was slowly learning to assume was her default tone.

Nah...jus'....no, Ah can read. Shut yer mouth. Ofelia spoke but didn't move. She looked awkward standing in the middle of the dorms, pressed to a wall like she was.

After the initiation of the new trainees, Gale had spent his time in the labs, doing a bit of research. He sat in solitude in his own little world, idly browsing through a book with another stack in front of him, a pair of reading glasses perched on the edge of his nose.

It was difficult to find any information on the man known as Stacey Ulrich, other than the fact that he was a Death Hunter and currently taking over the division in the absence of one Caelius Innis.

A Caelius Innis who still had yet to be seen. Gale had not heard hide nor tail of him since the events at the Haunted House - and he wasn't sure he wanted to know what sort of temper the Death Hunter would find when he came back.

<< If he comes back, that is. >>

Which he probably will.

<< You don't know that for sure. >>

It's Caelius. He's like a cockroach. They never die.

Now he was making his way back to his dorm, his nose pressed into a clipboard as he limped tediously along. His recovery was slow-going, but since Gale refused to lie still for more than an hour if he wasn't sleeping, he was trying to keep himself occupied, since it meant not focusing on the pain.

When he managed to get up the stairs (with a great amount of effort) in the dorm building, he very literally walked right into the figure standing in the middle of the hallway.

"Ouch."

Rubbing his nose, Gale peered up at the girl, forgetting he was still wearing his glasses.

"Ah," he said, after a moment. "You're...one of the lambs. You looking for someone?"

Ofelia nearly shrieked again as something bumped into her and she peered over her shoulder to see just what it was. Why did everything and everyone want to seem to bump into her lately, or startle her? This place had the walls too close together for her comfort and Ofelia was getting a little more than nervous having to deal with it all the time. Everything was stark white and bare, not at all like the rotting and rundown house she'd grown up in, so the lack of weird sounds and then the sudden introduction of weird sounds was going to give her a heart attack before it was all over. Ofelia didn't want to die of a heart attack.

I'd like you to die of a heart attack. By all mean, get started on it. And there was Rue's voice again and Ofelia huffed, breathing in and out and trying not to panic. Her eyes finally came into focus on who or what had made an impact into her and she was surprised (pleasantly so) to see it was the boy from when she first woke up here, stumbling out of that pod. A happy sigh of relief escaped from her throat and Ofelia dropped her jacket onto the ground before she wrapped the smaller boy in a hug.

"Thank gawd, a familiar face. Ah was startin' ta get stir crazy here wit' all this white an' the lack of sounds." Personal space meant nothing to Ofelia when she was in a state of unhappy panic, nor did it mean she probably should have been holding Gale so close to her that she was practically smothering him to her chest. "Yer Gale, right? Ah'm Ofelia."
PostPosted: Thu Jan 26, 2012 7:26 pm

He'd clearly startled her, since she looked as though he had given her a heart attack - and it was then that Gale really recognized who exactly she was.

She was the one who had hugged him.

...which she was now doing again. Gale's clipboard dropped to the ground with a small clatter, and he made a small, indistinct sounding noise that might have been a help or a what or even an excuse me.

"Kindly let me go," came the muffled answer, his face tinged slightly red as Gale put two hands against the girl's body and pushed himself forcefully away from her. Straightening his slightly askew coat, he leaned down and picked up his clipboard again, pulling the reading glasses from his nose and tucking them into the pocket in the front of his jacket.

"You'll find it's rather like that a lot of the time," said Gale dryly. "Lacking sound, I mean. And yes, my name is Gale. A pleasure, Ofelia. How are you doing so far?"

"Please, call me Ofie. Yer younger 'n me an' all so hearin' ya call me Ofelia sounds stuffy. Ah mean, it's not like Ah a boss o'yers either, yer higher in this club than me, right?" If there was one thing Ofelia always had an odd grasp on, it was hierarchy. That didn't mean she was always going to follow said steps of hierarchy but at the very least she could be aware. Whether or not she chose to do anything about it remained to be seen. "Ah grew up in a rickety ol' farm house in the middle'a nowhere, so places that are quiet kinda make me uneasy. Ah guess ya could say when the voices stopped it made me entirely too nervous ta think straight. It'll take time ta settle."

Please, as if you will ever adjust to anything. You're too stupid and inbred to completely grasp anything that is going on around you. Ofelia didn't seem to hear Rue (or else she was tuning her out mighty fine). Don't ignore me, hick. Ofelia kept right on ignoring.

"If yer not too busy, can Ah ask ya a favor? Ah'm tryin' ta find mah room number here but Ah've never been good at readin' maps."

Or books, or signs, or hands. Or in general.

Shuffit. Rue snickered in Ofelia's ear as the girl looked over at Gale, his tiny frame still making her want to hug him. The older teen hadn't been put off when she was shoved away so it was so tempting to just pick him up again. If he wasn't lucky he was going to get a parting hug from her once this was all over, though Ofelia really didn't want to leave and be by herself just yet. "Ah dun mean ta take up yer time if ya are busy."
PostPosted: Sun Jan 29, 2012 8:38 am

"Right..." said Gale absently, as though he did not have any real intention of calling anyone by a nickname. "And yes, if you put it that way, I am 'higher in this club than you,' though that's a slightly strange way of describing it. I'm an Intermediate Trainee; I was promoted several months ago, and I've been around for quite a while, so I'm your senior, so to speak."

Not that this new trainee seemed to even care, considering that she had picked him up and hugged him like a ragdoll. Not many people could do that to Gale and still have everything intact, though right now he was trying quite hard not to react as badly as he normally would have. As it was, he still leveled a veiled, irritated gaze in Ofelia's direction, trying to figure out if she were the type of person to do it again.

<< She will be. >>

I'm sure you're right.

<< She's looking at you like you're some cute thing she can cart around in her purse. Oh, this will be a delightful thing to watch. >>

Shut up, Ginny.

"Everything settles eventually," said Gale, with a distracted glance down at his clipboard. He made a small mark, then tucked his pen into his pocket, realizing he had no choice but to help Ofelia to her room. Considering he'd made the offer in the first place - not just to her, but to all of the new trainees - to be as helpful as possible, he could not back down now. Besides, it would look terrible if he did.

"I'm not busy," he said. "What room are you in? I can show you."

"In that case Ah'll try ta be a bit more respectful towards yer position then, at least till we're standin' on similar ground." Ofelia smiled and winked at Gale, gathering her coat back up into her arms from where it'd hit the ground. It took her a moment to decide what to do with it, she moved as though to put it on, finally settling in the end for wrapping it around her waist and tying it together. Easiest way of carrying anything in her not really varied opinion, other than shoving the object into her mouth.

Pig.

"Room is....uh...162? Man why is it so far away an' such?" Did they just randomly draw lots for rooms or was it planned that way? Certain rooms for certain pod people? Actually, if they had that many rooms, did that mean there were that many people currently there? Or. . . . ? Well, whatever. "Ah'm really thankful fer yer help as well."
PostPosted: Wed Feb 01, 2012 7:26 pm

"That, er...isn't..." Gale said, a little helplessly. He could not quite put his finger on it, but this girl had a way of making him feel rather tired. It was though she was moving a mile a minute - even if she wasn't.

<< Just one of those robust personalities, I'm sure. >> remarked Jinhai, still sounding amused - a fact that made Gale scowl inadvertently. He gave a small sigh of mild exasperation and his eyes flickered towards the coat on the ground, catching sight of the insignia on the back.

"Sun Division, are you?" he said, as he and Ofelia began making their way down the long dormitory hallway, Gale shifting so that one of his hands was slipped into his pocket, the other still loosely holding the clipboard. "And it's large because each floor represents a level. The second floor is reserved for all trainees, whether beginner or intermediate."

There was a small pause.

"How are you...er, taking your new conscience?"

"Errr....con-- oh, ya mean Rue." Ofelia placed a hand on the side of her head, her fingers lacing themselves into her hair. She hadn't really thought about having the voice in her head as being anything different other than the fact it was something really different.

Who else could he mean? Certainly not any living brain cells of yours, hick. Rue was probably livid that Ofelia hadn't said anything about her up until this point but whatever, she'd get over it. The teen had better things on her mind, like trying to get to her dorm in one piece and not make her guide angry or something - even though she still wanted a hug.

"An' Ah guess Ah'm sun? Ah f'gur that's what the giant sun on mah jacket means but no one's really taken the time ta explain anythin'. If this club has Spartan methods fer learnin' stuff Ah can dig it, jus' wished Ah got a heads up or sommin'." The best part of any adventure was not knowing though, right? At least the club was getting that much correct even if it mostly just flung things at her whenever it wanted. Kept her on her toes at the very least, but a bit unorganized in her opinion. "As fer Rue...Ah guess she's fine? Ah grew up listenin' ta the voices in the barn an' the shed an' other places at school, so havin' a new one isn't bad at all. Jus' gotta understan' that she's got an idea of mah mind an' is always wit' me." The constant chatter would be okay - it would be when Rue went silent that would bother Ofelia.

The difference between me and a voice in your head is vast. Do not even attempt to compare the two. IGNORED.

"How was it when ya got yers the first time? Didja haveta punch sommin' like Ah did ta get yer partner?"
PostPosted: Fri Feb 03, 2012 7:15 am

Gale nodded. "Rue, is it? My weapon - " And here he held up his left hand, showing the slightly glowing, silver banded ring on his index finger, over the glove. " - is named Jinhai, and he's - "

<< Utterly amazing, helpful, generous, and intelligent. >>

" - annoying, strange, and not entirely helpful at times."

<< They do sound alike. >>

Lowering his hand, Gale stuck it back into the pocket of his coat and examined the back of Ofelia's, which was tied haphazardly around her waist, the sleeves dangling down in front. It was skewed, but the insignia embroidered on the back was quite clearly a sun.

"Sun Division," he said, by way of explanation. "You guys are mostly the brawn of missions, where the Death Division - mine - is usually the brain. You're mostly offensive, and you're often in charge of taking the lead when it comes to distracting and obtaining the target. At least, that's what I've come to see."

They were about halfway there now, and Gale reached up his hand, pushing aside the fringe of hair that had fallen into his eyes. He cast a curious glance up at Ofelia, tilting his head at her accent - which was rather thick, though quite opposite from his own - and then gave a small nod in understanding.

"Er," he answered. "No, I didn't...punch anything. Jinhai found me quite easily. Might I ask what sort of...er, weapon this Rue is?"

Oh, Sun was the punch-all-things group? Very nice. "Bein' in a group known for punchin' stuff will work jus' fine for me."

Being in a group where you don't have to do anything but punch sounds just perfect for you, I must agree. Good thing you weren't place somewhere that might have involved thinking or you'd always be doomed to failure.

"So there are many different sub-groups in the club? Death an' Sun an'....others Ah guess? Jus' how many are there?" Was it important for her to know, really? Probably not since she'd just need to work on making friends within her group before trying to spread into the other sets of the club. She didn't think it was going to be a popularity contest though for power, seeing as someone killed another person just for giggles. she was going to dwell on how to make more friends when Rue interrupted her thoughts.

He wants to know about me! HICK, ANSWER HIM NOW Rue sounded oddly excited, like this was the first time she was showing interest in the conversation. Before she'd been adding snide remarks here and there but now it had her full attention. Anything that had to do with her was obviously worth her time and she intended to let Ofelia know it.

"Er...Rue's a set'a knuckle dusters. Ya know what those are?" She looked down at the bracelet on her arm again and then back over to Gale, not really giving him time to answer before she plowed on with her conversation. "Most people jus' call 'em brass knuckles, an' before Ah had to break her tile ta get ta her Ah'd never seen a pair b'fore either. They're all kinds'a illegal back where Ah'm from." There was that whole thing about brass knuckles being really deadly and all.

He wasn't entirely certain that Sun was the group for "punchin' stuff", but it was close enough, and Gale did not bother to try and argue semantics. Instead he pushed his hair off of his shoulders and answered lightly "Five. There are five different divisions. Life, Death, Sun, Moon, and Mist. The...illustrious Doctor H and his assistant Clarice are the heads of Life. Caelius - you haven't met him yet, thank heavens - is the head of Death, and also one of the Council members. The sun and Moon leaders haven't been revealed yet - there's one assistant that's been covering both divisions so far, and her name is Julie. She's..."

Gale paused, trying to figure out how to word it properly.

"Let's just say she's interesting. And finally, the Mist division is run by Aria."

Finished, he let his fingers follow her gaze to where they flickered down at the bracelet on her wrist. Clearly that was her weapon's unsummoned form, and by the sound of it - brass knuckles? Gale thought - it was the perfect weapon to "punch stuff," as Ofelia had so nicely put it earlier. Nodding, he said "I know what they are. I think they're a good match for you, especially since the weapon chooses the wielder and not the other way around. Mine was a bit rocky to use at first, as Jinhai constantly reminds me, but I've gotten used to it."

"Doctor H was the dude who snapped that fake girlie's neck, right? That was...." Ofelia paused, thinking back on the event. "All kinds'a cool! Ah'd never seen someone kill a person b'fore even if she was jus' a fake or sommin'? Either way this place seems interestin', or at least yer Doctor H does. An' Clarice or whatever." Gale had said other names, so that brought on other questions. "Who was that Stacy guy, he work wit' yer Caelius cause he said he was death too? There's lotsa people 'round here."

Ofelia kept talking, to the point she actually didn't hear Aria's name and whatever else came after Julie, but when the topic came back to Rue Ofelia looked at her wrist again. Ugh, was she always going to look at her arm whenever she wanted to think of Rue? Actually did she want to always be reminded? It was a hard choice but anyway she didn't need to dwell. "What is yer Jinai exactly? Ya asked fer Rue's shape, so Ah figure he's got sommin' different? An' as for usin' her, Ah got mah a** kicked lots back home on account'a me not wantin' people ta go inta the haunted shed. Lots an' lots's times, so brawlin' ain't nothin' new ta me."

What Gale meant about using her probably was not what Ofelia thought but it never hurt to just outright assume something. She was going to believe what she wanted to believe anyway so whatever he said was going to go in one ear and out the other.

"Yes, that would be the infamous Doc H," replied Gale dryly, with a glance over at Ofelia, who was looking rapturously interested by the whole ordeal. Surprising, but not quite unheard of. He shook his head a bit, slightly exasperated with the doctor, but then said "Yes, well, Doc H is a bit...well, just be careful around him. As for Stacey..."

A slight frown crossed Gale's face, but he quickly shifted it, shaking his head again. "Stacey's an assistant leader for Death, I think - Caelius is the head of the Death Hunters and the head of the Council, whatever that means. Even I'm not entirely certain how that whole thing works out."

Ofelia was talking more, and clearly was only half paying attention, but Gale let her ramble on, a very small smile on his face. It was always refreshing to see someone who was a bit different than most trainees - Ofelia, to her credit, did not seem the slightest bit intimidated by anything, which was rather impressive, considering where she was.

His gaze flickered sideways, brows lifting a bit in amusement.

"Jinhai?" he said. "He's a rifle. I'm a long range sniper when it comes to fighting, so hand-to-hand combat like you'll be doing is less my thing."

"Ahhh, but Ah bet it makes ya awesome back-up ta be able ta shoot from a distance. People like me can usually fight better if we know we got someone coverin' us from behind. Let's ya know an enemy will never get ta yer back wit'out a fight." Ofelia grinned broadly at Gale, wondering if what she was saying would put him at ease or something. She'd never thought about someone having her back during a fight before, mostly because that meant she'd have to think about them, so someone shooting from a distance seemed useful.

Ofelia liked hunting, but if only for the fact she liked shooting guns and liked eating. The whole 'waking up super early and usually in the cold' appealed to her exactly zero percent. Her brother usually toted her out on a four wheeler or something and dropped her in a tree, letting her decide to hunt whenever she woke up. They hadn't gone on a hunt together in a few years though, or to the range, and Ofelia wondered if she was still any good at shooting. At the very least she probably still needed a scope in order to see with only one eye and shoot with a decent amount of accuracy.

They were nearing her room now, or at least the numbers were starting to look decent, and Ofelia paused to place a hand on Gale's head. She'd refrained from touching him this entire time but man, he was still super cute in her eye and that totally merited her pawing all over him. "Ah'm super thankful fer yer kindness in helpin' me out. Not many people back home would even give me the time'a day, so already this club's makin' mah life better."
