Aquitaine stepped through the trees lightly, occasionally glancing over her shoulder as she did so. Usually whenever she wandered away from the small spot her family called home her brother Arcadius would be right behind her. He was always there no matter what. Yes today the blue colt was no where to be seen. It felt strange walking out here without her brother to play body guard. That alone had nearly made her turn around and return home several times. Really she had no huge reason for wandering. Though her brothers loved to explore and run about Aquitaine preferred to stay as close to home as possible, even more so did she rarely leave her parents sight. So today was a fairly monumental day in the fact that she was truly alone.
Many times her brothers had told her about the many fascinating things that lay just beyond the borders of her family lands. And though she was curious to see these things herself Aquitaine was generally content just to simply live those adventures through her brothers stories. Today she would see for herself if all those things they had told her were true or not. Honestly though she doubted her brothers would lie to her. They had been taught better than that.
It took a short bit of time before Aquitaine reached the edge of the trees. For a long time the blue filly stood at the edge of the forest, looking out at the great meadow before her. It oddly reminded her of home. Yet instead of endless water as far as the eye could see it was a sea of grass that stretched for a long way. There was a lot of potential out there. Yet, there was a lot of unknown too. Her father had told her and her brothers about some of the dangers in the world and now that she had reached this point Aquitaine wasn't sure whether she wanted to take that next step or return home satisfied with what she had seen. So she remained standing in the trees, her long slender tail slowly waved behind her as she considered her options carefully.

Kai grazed in the meadow. Here, the grass was sweet and there was a lot of it. She didn't have to worry about being attacked either.
Then, she looked up and saw a filly in the nearby forest. She wondered what she was doing all the way out here by herself, but she thought there must have been a reasonable explanation, so she did not see any need to ask about it now. Instead, she smiled and said, "Good afternoon, little one."

Blue eyes turned to see the pink and blue mare not too far off. Her mane was parted in two braids that vaguely reminded Aquitaine of her mothers long flowing hair. The mares short fluffy tail and larger ears told her that she was a Cerynei. Father had told her about this breed, and many others, they had many deer like features included cloven hooves, larger fluffy ears and short deer like tail. "Oh! Hello." Aquitaine realized that she had been staring at the mare perhaps a bit too long before speaking and her cheeks flushed a bit with embarrassment.
Even though the mare seemed friendly enough Aquitaine remained where she was for the moment, at the edge of the trees. The ocean she knew well, and while the large meadow reminded her of a green ocean, she wasn't sure if she was ready to venture out in it just yet. Especially without her trusted bodyguard and brother here to protect her and lend his support.

Kai laughed at the foal's reaction. She thought it was natural for someone so young to stare. When she was that age, she would stare at everything unfamiliar to her. She wanted to know everything and she thought she could absorb it all like a sponge. She wondered if this one was the same way. I wonder why she didn't come any closer. Is she shy? Afraid? Maybe her parents are there and I can't see them from here? She walked closer to where she was and started eating there. After she finished, she looked up at her and said, "Are you, by any chance, hungry? Feel free to eat wherever you'd like if you are. I'd feel awful if I didn't offer you anything and you were."

Aquitaine watched as the mare too a few steps closer before resuming her grazing. There was nothing dangerous about this mare, so why be so shy? She wasn't normally this shy, granted she only ever really spent time with her family so this whole meeting strangers thing was quite new to her. Just when she had mustered up the courage to step out the mare lifted her head and spoke once more. Well, that made things a bit more inviting. She was after all a bit hungry, mother said she and her brothers were going through a growth spurt so they were almost constantly eating, her brothers a bit more so. With the invitation laid before her Aquitaine smiled. "Thank you. I am a bit hungry."
With a glance around the meadow to make sure nothing else was out there Aquitaine stepped out from the shelter of the trees. As she moved closer to the mare her long slender tail flicked behind her. It was a nervous trait, whenever she wasn't quite sure of herself her tail would move quite a bit. Stopping several feet away from the mare Aquitaine took up a mouthful of grass. Oh it was sweet and delicious! "I'm...Aquitaine. I really like your hair, it's very pretty." Hopefully when she grew up she would have long hair like her mother did.
