To better explain individual fighting power and armor rating of every Zoid, the've all been broken down into five categories, one for power, and one for armor.
In order of weakest to strongest, you have:
Level I
Level II
Level III
Level IV
Level V
Simple enough. However, remember that while a Level II Zoid won't always beat a Level I Zoid in a one on one fight, a Level I is normally not going to win against a Level V.
It should also be noted that armor ratings have nothing to do with power levels. Some Level IV Zoids have rather weak armor. Armor does not affect speed. Armor ratings, from weakest to strongest are:
Ultra-light
Light
Medium
Heavy
Superheavy
It should also be noted that these classifications do not include transports, as transports are all massive and powerful. The Gustav, being unarmed, is unrated on level.
With the exception of the Pteras, all Aerial Zoids have negligable armor, and are not rated.

...they're so controlling.
