Well, his conversation with Eva had certainly been interesting. Wilson supposed he was now safe to return to Dr. H’s office and report to him what the young woman had offered him, but somehow the information didn’t seem to be enough. What few answers he had managed to gather seemed lacking. Maybe he could somehow find another person to talk to? Hands laced behind his head, a pondering Wilson strolled out (backwards, even) of the cafeteria as he recounted the past hour or so. Dakota had dragged him out of his dorm for the purpose of taking him to Dr. H for flirting lessons. He still didn’t understand that, but now the encounter left the trainee with the task of talking to women about their first love.
It must have been fate—or perhaps not—when he passed the Mist division leader in the hallway. Her high-ranking position didn’t occur to him at first, all he thought in the first second was “woman” as he stared at her retreating back. “Wait!” Wilson called out, walking after the older woman. His eyes widened when he finally realized who exactly he had called out to. “Uhhh. I mean Aria.” He paused. “Miss Aria. Ma’am—errrr.” Great conversation starter, Wilson.

A week earlier the effects of JOY were at their peak. For the first time in a long while it was easy to forget that one was on an island dedicated to protecting the world from unnamed horrors that crept through the night. It was as if they were home again, safe and warm after spending the day romping and playing in the snow.
There was no trace of that mirth on Aria's face as she strode down the hallway, coming to a quick stop at the unfamiliar's trainee's request. Aria turned, her mouth set in a line as she glanced at his coat's symbol. "Yes?" She answered sharply, shifting her weight to one heel. "What is it, Death trainee?"

Wilson’s smile became strained upon seeing Aria’s face. It now occurred to him that asking the Mist leader was a very, very bad idea. There were now two options flashing in his mind: ask what he intended or hastily flee? He gave himself a second to make his decision lest he look like a silent, smiling idiot. “Wilson. My name’s Wilson.” He awkwardly shifted in place before jumping to the point. “Dr. H gave me a mission and—“ Wilson paused to allow the information to sink in. Perhaps if she knew the origin of his predicament she would understand and sympathize. Oh, he could only hope. “—and I would like ask about your first love.”
If he were to die now it would be apt, considering he was a death trainee.

The division leader stared at Wilson, saying nothing. The name of the Life Division leader didn't surprise her, and the so-called "mission" he was on surprised her even less. At least he was polite about it.
Aria shifted the object in her grasp until she was holding it with both hands. It was a book of some sort, the title obscured to Wilson as she raised it up and used it to lightly bonk the trainee on the head. "Nice try," she said, shifting the book under her arm. "But you are currently asking me, a division leader to tell you about my personal life. I do not know you, and you do not know me. Why do you think I should tell you about myself?"

He closed one eye, lowering his head and stiffening his shoulders as Aria gently tapped Wilson with the book. The trainee allowed himself to smile sheepishly at the older woman before pursing his lips. Why? That was a very good question. After all, why would should he ask her when he could get the job done with some other trainee or hunter wandering around? “Um…” He scratched his head. It was time to BS. “That is because…”
Up to that point, Wilson had directed his gaze to the floor, but now he lifted his eyes to stare at Aria. “Since we don’t know each other, I think it would be useful to know more about you so I can formulate a better impression of you.” A pause. “And if you want to know more about me I’d more than gladly tell you.” He forced himself not to shift awkwardly in place. Wilson hoped it would work.

A moment of silence passed between them. The division leader continued to stare at the trainee after he spoke, her face neutral. "Trainee, listen here," She said softly. "You are a member of the death division. As far as I'm concerned, you are nothing to me. I don't know who you are, nor do I particularly care. Most of your time will probably be spent at a desk or in the Death labs doing research, or you're going to be out fumbling around on the field in the name of said research. Do you want to know what happened to the last time a death hunter became involved in Mist business?"
She lifted a finger to her neck and drew a quick line across it. "Dead. His name was Benjamin Summers. You might want to look it up, and consider the circumstances leading up to it." Aria leaned forward, glaring. "You want to know more about me? Prove to me that you're worth my time. Go run the Mist training course. If you pass, then maybe I'll consider telling you about myself. If you fail, then you can seek an answer like that elsewhere. Got it? Good."
Without waiting for an answer, Aria turned and began to walk away.

Quote: Mist Hunter The Miss Taken Tower General Information As the general, jack-of-all trades division, the Mist Hunter training course is a combination of the other divisions' training challenges and also one of the more complicated. The goal of this course is to rescue the princess in the tower. Below her, you'll find yourself confronted with a number of shadowling attackers, and beyond them, a room of only slightly deadly traps. But even should you reach her location, you still need to pick the lock on the manacles holding her in place. Unskilled fiddling with the locks will prove unhealthy for both the princess and yourself. And once that's done, you need to make your way back down through the traps and shadowlings, defending the princess the whole way.
The Miss Taken Tower is one of the most challenging and frustrating courses available.
If you fail: your princess dies, and you are quite possibly KO'd. Senior hunters are observing and will make with a timely rescue as needed.
If you win: the princess will adore you for the rest of her exceedingly brief existence. Peen points for 100% health for you and the Princess, shadowlings fought, going for consecutive rescues.
Part 1 Mechanics - roll your regular attack - roll your regular attack again - if you miss an attack, you lose 50% of your full HP - if you have an available recovery bonus, you may try to use that to avoid HP loss

- Trainees: 0 recoveries - Mist/Sun Trainees: 1 recovery - Hunters: 1 recovery - Mist/Sun Hunters: 2 recoveries
Part 2 Mechanics - there are two steps worth of traps in this room, so you'll be rolling twice

01. horrible death 02. - 50% HP 03. - 50% HP 04. live 05. live 06. - 50% HP 07. horrible death 08. - 50% HP 09. horrible death 10. live

Bonus Mechanics
- Trainees: roll 1d4 - Mist/Life Trainees: roll 1d6 - Hunters: roll 1d6 - Mist/Life Hunters: roll 1d8

It made her words a smidge more bearable to listen to, though they still hurt. Perhaps a couple times he dared to attempt staring her in the eye, but Wilson quickly himself back to staring at the place next to her face. “Yes ma’am,” he muttered, though the name struck a chord in him. He had heard the name before. But where? A grave marker flashed in his mind and his eyes widened. The graveyard. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. “Yes ma’am. I will.” He would do what? Look up Benjamin Summers? Do the mist course?
While Aria turned around and walked away, Wilson moved in the opposite direction.
He found himself at the Miss Taken Tower. The corner of his mouth twitched. It was supposed to be a course combining all skills from the Death, Life, Sun, and Moon divisions, but Wilson wasn’t feeling too confident about doing it. Still…You ready for this, Gramps?
[About Jackdamn time you did this course, to be honest.] He laughed aloud as he donned the mask. Very funny.
Wilson didn’t know what it was. His nervousness giving him heightened awareness or somehow he had readied himself well enough, but he managed to tear down a number of shadowlings. What the hell was this?!

Okay, so the second wave hadn’t gone as great as the first one, but at least the little shadow things weren’t drowning Wilson! This was a good sign. This was a very good sign. He smiled behind his mask as he covered a couple of shadowlings in bright green gas. Once the creatures disappeared, the death trainee breathed a sigh of relief and moved to de-summon his weapon. Wilson took of his mask and breathed in fresh air. The man placed the goggles around his neck and ran toward the next stage.

Wilson paused as he stared at the various tiles within the room. It was undeniable—this was Deathsweeper. The corner of his mouth twitched. As a death trainee, he was supposed to be good at this, right? After a moment of hesitation he tentatively stepped on a tile. It slid own beneath his weight and Wilson panicked. That was not good. That was not good. Without thinking, Wilson jumped to the next tile just as a barrage of arrows came flying from one of the walls. His face paled when he heard them whizzing past his ears and gawked at the arrows, now embedded into the opposite. Silently, he placed a hand over his heart and thanked whoever that he had moved in time.

There was another tile. As Wilson stood on his current tile, he looked around at the other tiles and pondered which one to step on. This time, he placed one cautious foot on another tile and placed a bit of pressure on it. When nothing worrying happened Wilson placed all of his weight onto the tile. Nothing happened. No traps or whatever. It was a perfectly ordinary tile. He grinned and hopped onto the step of the first stairs. Sweet! Perhaps there was a reason he was a death trainee after all.

He ran up the stairs and found…Dakota. Not only that, but Dakota was in a princess dress. “Dakota?” Wilson called out, except Dakota only tilted his head at him and smiled. That was odd. Normally, wouldn’t Dakota have—oh wait. “You’re a golem, right?” The Dakota golem didn’t answer and instead kept pleasantly smiling at him. It was kind of creepy. Regardless, Wilson took another moment to chuckle over the sight of Dakota in a dress, golem or not. In fact, the trainee opted to take out his phone and take a picture of it for safe-keeping. The opportunity was just too good for him to pass up. “Okay! I have to unlock these things, right?” Perhaps Wilson had been too confident, because after a few seconds of fumbling the first manacle exploded. He coughed loudly, fanning away wisps of smoke and smiled apologetically at the golem, who looked absolutely miffed. “Sorry.”

Dakota golem huffed loudly and crossed its leg with a flourish, kicking one leg over the other. Wilson laughed uneasily. “I’ll promise to be more careful next time, okay?” Instead, it turned its head away from him. Wilson sighed. He leaned over the other manacle and nervously poked it a couple times before finally getting to business. After a few seconds of fiddling, the cuff came off with a couple clicks and Dakota golem hopped into Wilson’s arms. “Woah! Okay then.” He tugged at Dakota golem, but it frowned and shook its head, opening its arms for…was it…? “Um. Alright.” Wilson scooped the golem into his arms. He wheezed. “Golem or not, Dakota you’re still freaking heavy.”

He slowly made his way down the steps, Dakota golem firmly in his arms. Wilson’s smile strained a bit as he finally made his way down to the bottom step and stared at the series of tiles. He briefly looked at the golem. So Wilson was supposed to walk across the room with the golem in his arms? That...was going to turn out very well. A sigh before he moved to take the first step.
