Now that Fuu was on his own, he was free to process the information he had obtained more openly. It was a pretty simple situation and it had no clean outcome that he could imagine. Iei was obviously unhappy about this and Yareha was already something of a troublemaker. And, of course, he was apparently involved with the king's granddaughter. This afternoon was not going to be pretty.. though Fuu couldn't help but feel a bit amused, however twisted. He would keep that to himself, though.
His search for Yareha was only just started and his first stop was where he knew the lion had his den. Based on the scent, he quickly figured if Yareha was not at home he had been recently. He was grateful it was not going to be a difficult search.
"Yareha Afaer," he called out as he came upon the den, decidedly not speaking in a questioning tone but still stopping a respectful distance away. This was too urgent to give any opportunity to the lion to make trouble for him, it was hardly a secret he didn't care for Fuu.

The white lion was sleeping soundly, curled up with Laelia when he heard his name called. He twitched and opened his eyes blearily. By the Great Lion...it was still early afternoon! The hunt wasn't due to leave until after sunset, so why on earth was somebody calling his name now? Still, he didn't want them waking Laelia. Yeha got up carefully and padded to the den's entrance to see who in the world was going to be the recipient of his wrath- Oh. Fuu was still not high on Yareha's list of people in the pride, but if he didn't show the purple foreigner "proper respect" he'd be in even worse trouble than before. Still, it galled him. "Lord Fuu?" he asked, allowing some of his sleep-related annoyance to show as he yawned. Might as well make it clear that he was a night hunter. This was unspeakably early for him to be awake. It was the closest he could come to what he really wanted to say to the lion, damn him. And he could always point out that anyone would react that way if they were woken up out of a sound sleep.

Laelia was quite comfortable in her spot beside Yareha. She had been taking more patrol time at night so they could spend their days together, though they hadn't properly discussed it even now. She heard someone speak but she brushed it off until she felt Yareha removed himself to investigate. Still, she wasn't exactly eager to get up and check it out, they weren't here for her. Sighing, she turned so she faced the opening of the den, her eyes opening slightly as she tried to evaluate the situation sleepily. Fuu was not expecting warm welcome, especially when Yareha was spending his time hunting at night and would be resting now. He looked the yawning lion up and down, deciding this was still an improvement and he was in for a far worse awakening soon enough.. he could give him a bit of a break.
Which mostly meant keeping this formal instead of risking any fresh personal offenses, of course.
"Yareha, you are needed at the border," he said.

The border? Was this some sort of cleanup duty or something? Ever since his public - very public - reprimand, Yareha had gotten stuck with some of the worst, most tedious tasks possible to assign a Hunter. He eyed Fuu carefully, but the other lion wasn't giving anything away.
The white lion sighed and looked back into the den. Laelia had moved, so he assumed she was awake enough to talk to.
"Looks like they want me on the border," he told her. "Don't bet on seeing me before dawn."
With that taken care of, Yareha left the den and looked over at Fuu.
"Which way, and what exactly am I need for," he asked, then remembered to add "Lord Fuu?"

Fuu had no idea what to make of Yareha sighing and turning back into his den. There was the possibility he would try to get out of it, which seemed even more serious an offense knowing what was waiting for him by the borders-- and then he spoke, and Fuu was stunned to realize he wasn't alone.
Laelia heard the mention of the border and with another sleepy sigh, she pushed herself up to her feet just in time for Yareha to guess he wouldn't be back before dawn. She took a minute to stretch before coming to the mouth of the den herself to see what was going on.
"Perhaps I could help," she offered. She was a guard, hanging out around the borders was one of the things she did.
Considering how ridiculous this situation already seemed, he was almost surprised it was Laelia who emerged. It had to count for something, he did seem dedicated to her- but would this relationship last through what was waiting?
Speculation about what was about to happen made him hesitate a second too long before shaking his head.
"No, no additional guards are necessary," he said, looking to Yareha, "I will fill you in on the way."

Yareha looked from Laelia to Fuu and back again, shrugging at the end. "You heard him," the white lion told his paramour. Inwardly he was cursing. This was probably going to be something particularly nasty and humiliating. Maybe there'd been a scuffle on the border and they wanted him to clean up the bodies. Or maybe some diseased lions? His imagination was particularly morbid today. And oh Great Lion it was daytime. His eyes were far more accustomed to the darkness of night and he was going to be squinting for a while yet.
"Lead on, Lord Fuu," he went on, hoping he wasn't overkilling the Lord crap. Yareha really wasn't at his best when he first woke up and he just wanted this stuff over and done with.

Making a face, Laelia shook her own head in response to Fuu's insistence they needed no additional guards. She was far less nervous about being a bit pushy, they were family and she certainly never caused much trouble. She ignored Yareha, looking directly at Fuu.
"Don't be silly, Uncle," she said, daring to smile as she addressed him with the familiar term he earned when he married her aunt, "You can never have too many guards about the border, especially with something going on."
Fuu frowned when Laelia stopped them from making a speedy getaway without her, especially when she called him uncle. It was weird, Selene had such a big family, his brothers and sisters were all he really had. And it wasn't helping his panic about needing to keep her there.
And then there was the fact Yareha made a point of addressing him by rank.
His mind came to a complete stop as he stood there, trying to figure out how to get Laelia off their tails now. He hadn't had much time to formulate the plan he did have, he certainly hadn't accounted for this situation.. and he could only handle winging it so far before he stumbled. Really, he needed Selene.

Yareha nearly choked as Laelia spoke up. He knew the lioness had some serious bite when she wanted to use it and only the Great Lion could help Fuu if she chose to unleash it now. But oh was that funny! The white lion sent a prayer of thanks upward that the beige lioness was on his side in this.
He decided, wisely for once, that there was nothing to be gained by opening his mouth in this situation. Firstly because he didn't want either of them angry or frustrated with him (Fuu because damnit he was already being punished, Laelia because a lover could do serious damage) and secondly because he was afraid if he opened his mouth he wouldn't be able to stop laughing.

Having successfully silenced both males, Laelia was feeling pretty pleased with herself. Smiling, she stepped out of the den, ready to join the pair of them. Really, though, there was no reason she couldn't tag along. If this was some part of Yareha's punishment, an observer couldn't do much and being out by the borders was ever a worry..
Most importantly, though, she was smart enough to recognize Fuu's resistance and frown meant something was up.
"Shall we?"
It was lucky Fuu did not look over to Yareha or he might have lost control over whatever it was that was keeping him together. He gave his word he would not tell Yareha what was waiting for him and they had agreed to keep exposure minimal.
"No," he said seriously, knowing above all else that was the most important thing here and if he had to, he would use his rank to stop her now, "You are not coming with us, Laelia."
His mind raced.
"I need you to go get Selene," he said, "Tell her I am looking for her."

Now, this was very interesting. Not that Fuu was sending Laelia for Selene, that was hardly surprising. Some days, when Yareha was feeling particularly enraged, he thought the purple lion was incapable of functioning without his royal mate. Other days common sense prevailed and pointed out that Fuu was still an outsider, no matter how many moons he'd been here, and was still learning his way through the whole of the pride. Regardless, he really needed to stop relying on the Heiress.
But the fact that he really didn't seem to want Laelia accompanying them was...noteworthy. Perhaps something was up other than the usual punishments. The white lion hadn't heard any unusual rumors lately, and couldn't think what was going on, but now he was intrigued.
Yareha looked over at Fuu again, his whole posture proclaiming his readiness to be off, whenever the Lord was ready.

Laelia stared when Fuu's tone became even more serious and he gave her a direct order. Family or not and suspicious circumstances or not.. she knew better than to argue with him now. But perhaps she might get more information out of Selene or be allowed to accompany her to the border.
"Alright," she said, looking from Fuu to Yareha and sighing. It became apparent that Fuu was not going to go on his way until she started on her's so she turned and went off toward the royal dens, hoping Selene might be easy to find.
Fuu stared back until Laelia relented and ultimately turned and went on her way. He looked to Yareha once more but had no words for him. He knew to follow, so he turned back the way he had come from and lead the way to where they would find Ieiunium waiting.
Fin!
