Aric & Ziya Amies ; Near the Docks
It was a mild, chilly day of the season, a day Elias had finally consented to Aric's insistent pleas to go out to town with him. After all, he needed to go to the marketplace anyway, their stock was running low and since he had to cook for two now, he had to purchase more goods for the growing dust. The guardian was very protective of the boy and prepared him before they went out, putting a hooded cloak on him and covering the tattoo's that swirled as if living in his arms and trying to cover the child's unusual pointed ears with his long bright locks. "Don't sway away from me, Aric." he said worriedly, though he knew better than to say that. Aric was obviously a mischievous boy who couldn't sit still, and if he had left him at home---well-- he wasn't sure if he'd stay inside safely in his house. So this trip was a better option.
Aric didn't know why Elias was bring so fussy about their trip to the main city. After all, he could take care of the both of them! He had his own powers after all. But the young child nodded with a sigh at his guardian, promising that he'd be good and hold on to the man's hand the whole time they were there.
Yet merely 10 minutes into town, the boy was lost in the crowds, so amazed and exuberant with the masses of people-- he had never seen so many humans in one spot! And all the tall buildings---the smells, the colourful sights-- Aric lots himself in all that commotion and let himself be too excited. Separated from his guardian after being caught up in a sudden group of people, he wandered around, bright eyes eager and wanting to see more of everything! He was lead to the docks, possibly also lured by the concentration of sand that the sea had, his first instinct to go and feel what was so familiar to him. In a small hood, curious gaze and bright smile he wandered around the docks, dodging inquisitive looks from the people who spotted him alone.

You'd think that with the chilly air one would stay away from the cold unforgiving sea and stay more where there was warmth. Ziya however didn't think that way, he saw it as more of a reason to enjoy the silence of a normally busy port. He wasn't sure why he was so drawn to here lately; perhaps it was the soothing sounds it gave off. The cry of gulls and the lapping of the water against the boats melded together well.
Sighing a bit, the teen took a bite from his apple and wandered around, his bare hand slipped into his coat pocket. The light lunch would suffice for now, then he'd have to meet Ashton and Shepard for a full lunch later. They wanted to talk about something but he sort of had a feeling what it was going to be about. Ashton and Shepard had been fighting and arguing a lot more lately and been trying to hide it. he was pretty sure it was Ashton trying to push himself back into working and Shepard thinking he wasn't ready yet. He had been tuning it out and working on his boat motor Heather had given him to practice putting together.
Munching his apple, he heard more footsteps and spotted someone in a cloak. Hmmm......

Immediately the child ran around animatedly, the cool breeze of air pushing back the hood on his head to reveal the long golden ornamented tresses underneath. He breathed in the familiar smell of the sea, and even though he and Elias had lived along the beach, it was a scent and feeling he would never get sick of. Often times he would go outside and sleep on the sandy shores just to listen to the crashing of the waves and to feel the soft grains on his bare skin. Yet this was something Elias had disapproved of-- in any case, Elias disapproved of many things the young boy did, especially now that he had wandered off by himself.
But that didn't matter to Aric, smiling brightly at the few people who were sitting around the docks, going about their day. People generally fascinated the young dust. There was something about them that was different, and even how they went along their daily routine was interesting to the child. He brushed his bangs away from his face, his pointed ears covered by the locks as he neared the edge of the docks, sitting down right on the edge and swinging his bare feet, wanting his toes to reach the ocean below, smiling and oblivious to everything else.

There was a slight twinge of a feeling seeing the child dart around the docks. It was that feeling he got when other dusts were around. Pausing in his munching, he let his grey hues follow the cloaked person till they came to a stop. Taking another bite from his apple, he walked over towards were the person had gone. It surprised him to see the person he draped their legs over the side of the dock, knowing it wasn't quite warm enough to dip your feet into the cold ocean.
The echos of his steps reverberated across the wooden boards as he walked towards the person, knowing they'd feel his approach before he even got close enough to speak. "Careful, you wouldn't want to freeze your poor toes off" Ziya called in a good natured sort of way.
Walking a little closer, he kept a respectable distance just in case the person didn't exactly welcome his company.

He swung his legs at the edge of the docks, barefoot and free, he was tempted to touch the flowing water beneath. The chill didn't really bother the young dust, his skin perpetually warm yet the light breezes to his skin did make him frown, wishing for summer to come quickly.
Despite him immersed in his own little world, he did hear the weight of feet that pressed on the boards, his slender ears perking up at the sound and turning his head even before the other spoke.
"I'll be alright! I feel very warm anyway!" He wasn't really intending to jump into the water--though he was very much tempted to feel the ocean floor's sand on his feet. The boy lifted his bright blue eyes at the newcomer, tilting his head to the side with a curious smile. "Hello!" And then he paused, the smile on his face fading just a little, and replaced with a more dazed smile. "Do---do I know you?" he asked with uncertainty even though the question was strange in itself. He knew he had never met this man yet---at the same time, his presence was strangely soothing.

Ziya smiled at the child when he seemed very confident that the water wouldn't bother him. Perhaps he would be fine, if his feeling was correct; and usually it was, that this dust child had an ability that protected him from the cold. It made him think of the bottle his guardian had found a couple weeks ago. It seemed to be fire based, though it seemed to loath water.
"Hi there" Ziya replied, the smile still on his face. However when the child's mood changed to one of uncertainty, the teen fell silent. Keeping his ground, he gave the other boy space as he asked his next question. Tossing his apple into the garbage barrel near by, he wiped his gloved hand on the thigh of his pants. It was an interesting question the child asked, it wasn't one he was asked often.
"I don't believe so... though I think we've got some things in common that most don't" He said gently, his whole stance one that wasn't imposing or scary. Ziya liked to think he wasn't frightening or intimidating, Ashton once said he was like a giant puppy. "I'm Ziya" He introduced himself with a half smile.

The boy was terribly trustful, mostly curious of this man with almost the same feeling of familiarity he had with the first boy he had ever met. "What do you mean we have something in common?" he let out a short laugh, flashing his brilliant smile at the older male. "Hello Ziya!" he replied eagerly, tilting his head to the side to examine him. The other didn't seem to be threatening at all like how Elias had always told him strangers were. Surely it was alright to introduce himself since his companion did it first? "My name is Aric!" he replied easily, moving himself to face Ziya more properly, patting the wooden panel to his side, inviting the dust to sit with him if he pleased.
"Can you swim, Ziya?" he asked idly, turning his head once again to watch the waters beneath. "The water here seems nice too but I like swimming back where I live, it's much more prettier." He went on with talking, letting a finger touch one of the seashell bracelets on his wrist.

Stepping a little closer, rubbed his hands together to warm them up a little as he approached. Making a slow approach was always wise in his book, he didn't want to over whelm or intimidate. "In common as in we're both dusts.... Whenever I sense another dust I kinda bee line towards them....I like meeting more of our kind" Ziya explained. His feelings were never off, ever time he trusted it it led him to another dust. He assumed it was kind of like how Aren felt when around others, just not as developed as Aren was much older and wiser. He often thought of Aren and how he would approach others like them and want to meet them all; so he was trying to do the same thing. In the back of his mind though, he faintly hope din doing this he would get to see Aren again.
Taking the offer as a good sign, Ziya plunked himself down; opting ti sit cross legged on the rough planks. "Its nice to meet you Aric" The lightening dust smiled, leaning forward and resting his elbows on his knees with fingers threaded together to rest his chin on. When asked about if he could swim, he blinked his grey hues rapidly before looking at the water bellow him. "Somewhat.... My Guardian isn't big on swimming but his friend is.... so he taught me the basics so I could get by however my abilities don't always mix well with water" He murmured, looking back at the child.
"Ah, you live near the ocean? Thats kinda nice.... I live a little further in town..." Ziya replied and relaxed a little. "What are your abilities Aric? you seem kinda warm and beachy to me" he chuckled a little.

"Our..kind?" Those words put him at more attention, his full focus on the older male instead of watching the quiet waves and wondering what deep treasures lurked on the bottom. "Dusts? What do you mean Ziya? We are dusts? You are like me and Nolan? Is that right? We're special?" He continued on with his enthusiastic questions, a toothy grin plastered on his face. Immediately as the other sat close, Aric had let his hands touch on the older blonde's arm, crossing his feet as if waiting for Ziya to tell him a story. A tale to confirm that in fact, this calling he had felt wasn't just him, it was something others shared.
Somewhat calming down with the dusts reply to him, his bright blue eyes glanced at the water and then back to the bright male. "Your--abilities, I see! That's too bad though..." he half pouted, hoping that his new companion could accompany him into the water. "Can you show me what you do?"
Aric gave him a proud smile, nodding his head. "I live with Elias in a little--shack on the beach," and then the boy paused when he was asked, letting out a childish chuckle at that, huffing his chest in pride. "The sand is my friend." He started, looking around the vicinity. Granted there wasn't much of it in here and he was barely starting to understand his powers--- but that didn't really stop him from wanting to show off.

"Dusts... I have no idea how we got our name.... I was just told once that was what I was.... as normal humans don't come from glass bottles you see so in essence yes we are very special... beside sour powers really" Ziya explained a little, unsure how was the best way to explain it. "I had a friend that I knew a very very long time ago that explained that we were separate from humans, dusts... though I don't know our purpose... or if we have one besides just existing..." He added after, itching his ear a little.
When asked what he was able to do, he smiled and held out a hand to show the child. He allowed peals of lightening to flicker between his fingers, the mini bolts licking along his digits. The air seemed to hum a little from the close contact of the current, the string of fairy lights that were draped from pole to pole for the night time flickered to life a little. "Lightening is my abilities, a little dangerous but I can turn lights on in a pinch" Ziya grinned a little. he didn't want to ruin the light hearted nature of their conversation by explaining how dangerous his abilities were so he just smiled and watched the pointed ear child.
Chuckling at how proud the other seemed of his abilities, he understood what he meant with sand being his friend. It was cute that he thought of it like that, Ziya had always thought of his as a burden. "Thats kinda neat.... our powers combined we can make glass" he teased with a slight grin.

"Dusts... bottles.." Aric stared at the older dust will full attention, disbelieving in his stare yet there was nothing that stopped him from immediately believing this seemingly trustful person as he continued on. After all, the comfortable feeling in the air still lingered and instinctively he knew he could trust the blonde. "We're very special, aren't we!" he said with a childish reply, merely scratching the innocent surface of who they are and how they came to be. Yet Aric was just a child after all.
"Ohhhh!" he exclaimed in amazement, momentarily jealous of the bright lights the other seemed to procure. "It's nice and bright, I like it!" Nodding his head in approval, the shifting golden sands that stuck to his skin slowly floated around in response to the magic he was feeling in the air, for now he had no idea how to control it. "We can make things together?" Suddenly Aric stood in place, walking over to the taller man and taking Ziya's hands in his own small ones, pushing what sand he could into the light sparks before they disappeared, pouting a little as it didn't work.
He paused for a moment as he stared at their linked hands before lifting his head up to Ziya. "Are there many of... us?" he asks in curious wonder.

Ziya tried to flinch back when the child moved to take his hands, unsure on how the electrical current that was currently bouncing around his finger tips would react. When nothing happened, the teen sighed and let his shoulders sag a little. Last thing he wanted was to hurt the poor kid, he'd feel quite horrible if he had. "Perhaps another time Aric..... when the conditions are a little more right hrmm? My powers are always stronger when there is a lightening storm brewing" He offered towards the childs disappointment.
Not taking his hands away from Aric, his lightening dissipated as he considered his question. "I don't know.... I know I haven't met them all.... I've met a few since I've been around for a while now... but I think we can safely assume there are a lot of us.... each with different abilities...." he paused, chewing his lower lip a little. "For what purpose I have no idea.... but I have a feeling there will be more then a dozen of us and we will keep cropping up to do or be whatever is needed...."
Ziya shifted a little as he really thought this over as it was something he thought about often. Sometimes he wondered if this was how Aren used to feel with the mass amount of questions that children seemed to ask him. The desperate need to know why was always strong with children but in their cases it was a much more dire need. He wished he had more answers for them but he was jsut lacking in knowledge and figured for his lack of knowledge he could help out in ways he could and answer what he could.

He was at awe of even a little explanation, nodding his head with a smile up at the older dust. "Oh..." he said, of course a little disappointed with no demonstration but clearly brightening up with the promise of another time.
The man was in contemplation, Aric didn't understand the importance and the weight of the words he was saying about their existence, not yet knowing how important it was. But he knew they were special, he knew they needed to so something big for this world, nodding his head at the other blonde with his slightly nervous words. He squeezed the hands in his gently as if in comfort, "Well. I found you! So that must count for something --- I'm sure it will all ----"
"Aric!!" a voice exclaimed, the desert child jumping in place and immediately pulling his hands away from the older dust in surprise. His expression looked guilty, smiling up at Ziya with a little chuckle.
"Uh--- that's Elias--" he shifted in place, looking around and spotting his exasperated guardian from afar. Well, he was in trouble. "Ziya! I'll see you another time, okay!"Aric smiled despite the abrupt cut to their meeting, bowing apologetically at Ziya before he ran towards his guardian. Who no doubt was thinking who this strange, scary, dangerous older blonde was doing with Aric?
Aric gave a last smile over his shoulder to the dust, smiling broadly. Somehow despite the heavy words --- he knew things would be alright.Enikil OH MY GOSH crappy tag im so sorry ; ; but I did end it on my part since there has been some different happenings >< you can post one more time or I can lock it now, just tel me <3
