Preferred name(s)- sweet (or Seph) Age/Birthday- 37/Feb 15 Path- eclectic witch (with an interest in Wicca and Asatru) How long have you been studying- 13+ years Other info- though it seems that we have slowly drifted apart over the years, my first calling was to the Goddess Isis (though definitely under that particular name, rather than as Aset). While I realize that is more her Greek form, I have always had a intense interest in Egyptian mythology, and at one point had seriously considered studying Kemetic Orthodoxy, however it never quite seemed the right path, so I never pursued it. Still interested in information and related discussions though, so very glad to see the guild!!

Preferred name(s)- Caustic or Liz is fine with me. Age/Birthday- 19/ October 12th. Path- Well I've been seeking for the last few years so I don't really have a set-in-stone path at the moment. How long have you been studying- 4 years. Other info- Well as a little kid I lived on documentaries about Ancient Egypt and so I was quite determined that my body would be mummified when I died (honestly - how many little kids to you get that plan their funarels?) I was such a weird kid...

Preferred name(s)- San Age/Birthday- 25 Path- Heathen; religious witch How long have you been studying- Oh - um - hmm. 11 years? Ish. Other info- I've always had an interest in Egypt, particularly mummies, because you know how children are. I have a slight inclination towards Egyptian religion in the same way I do Greek religion, and I'd like to learn more about how it works and is structured, so that if there comes a time when I need or feel compelled to make an offering, I can do that properly.

Preferred name- Satsenu Age/Birthday- I am 23. My birthday is Feb. 26, 1989 Path- I am a Kemetic Orthodox shemsu. I am also a practicing shaman with a native american focus. I dabble in other things as I deem necessary, but I deeply enjoy my work as a crystal/energy healer and working with my ancestor oracle cards. How long have you been studying- I first joined the KO beginner's course in 2009 and after graduating that, I became a shemsu a few months later. Before that, I had been dedicated to Bast (who turned out to be my Mother) for roughly two years prior to finding the House of Netjer. Shamanism has been part of my life since a young child. You could say I was born into it! Other info- Feel free to ask me questions. I'm open as long as you are respectful and polite. If you aren't, I won't answer you... simple as that. I hope to get to know you all better!
(PS: If you have a question that I can't answer or don't know the answer to, I will try my hardest to put you in contact with someone who may be able to help.)

Satsenu Path- I am also a practicing shaman with a native american focus. Which culture do you work within? smile Out of interest, what's the culture-specific term for that sort of practise? I am always unsure how to refer to it because of the use of "shaman" being offensive in some ways.

Shamanism has been practiced all over the world since cave dwelling times. The funny thing is, people literally continents apart were practicing similarly even though they never had contact! My mother is primarily Native American, so when I say I practice shamanism with a NA flair, I'm basically just meaning that I use similar means of contacting spirits and have a relationship with some of the spirits/gods (whichever you prefer) that were sought after for help on occasion. With me, it is usually Coyote. I've been pushed to study shamanism more in depth by my Kemetic Father, Wepwawet, so it is interesting!

"Shaman" is a term for a particular practitioner of a certain Siberian people - I think it's the Saami - is what I'm saying. Anthropologically the term has been used to group together similar practices from all over the world, but different cultures usually have their own word for it. It would be disrespectful to actual shamans to call non-shamans "shaman", and disrespectful to these non-shamans who have a culturally specific word for themselves to impose a word from another culture on them. That's why I always ask when I find someone from a different culture who is practising, so I can be more aware of the respectful term to use. And I was wondering which Native American culture you were working within ^_^
