It was the weekend, mid afternoon. The weather was nice enough for a winter day, the sun poking through clouds, but it was still cold enough that most citizens of the city were hanging out indoors unless they had a reason to wander. Aurora Namid was on her way to the grocery store to shop for the next week, in her head going over the recipes she knew she would want to make, and the sort of ingredients she would pick up just in case.

For the most part the familiar sounds of the city were drowned out by the melodic jingle of her jewelry and clicking of her heels. One sound however did catch her attention, and she paused a moment when she heard it, listening to see if it was her imagination.

High pitched screams in the distance.

They sounded young.. or at the very least feminine. And it was possible it could just be children playing but.. what if it wasn't that? Worry tightened her throat for a moment, glancing around her.

The streets weren't particularly busy, but it was never very safe to transform during the daytime hours. The young woman dipped into an alleyway and when she emerged from the other side she looked different, her clothing having shrank unimaginably, and her simple heels replaced by high fur lined boots. Eternal Sailor Polaris.

With the feeling of chaos to guide her and her heightened speed, hunting down the source didn't take long, even amid trying to sneak in the shadows.

In the end her suspicions were confirmed, two young girls yelling from a top the monkey bars. Only they weren't playing, they were wailing as a large youma snapped and snarled and tried to reach through the bars and grab at their kicking feet.

"Hey monster!" She shouted in hopes of getting it's attention, stepping out finally into the light.

Kyndall was walking home from the bank and was hoping to spot Dogby among the fallen snow drifts. The days were shorter in the winter and Kyndall had taken to spending most of her time outside ever since she found out the corgi was missing, hoping to spot the pup. Tony loved her so and so did Kyn. She, more than anything, wanted to be able to bring the little dog back to her daddy safe and sound.

Screams shook her out of her thoughts. Whatever else the pup would have to wait. Civilians in possible peril took precedence. She admitted they sounded young and kids could shriek in play that sounded like bloody murder but she had to go check. Her maternal instincts flared to like like gasoline to a match.

She couldn't very well disappear into a phone booth like Superman and transforming in daylight had its dangers. Should the wrong person see she could be in danger. Her and everyone she cares about. She ducked down into a quiet dark corner and powered up, bounding on the roof and zeroing in on the chaos signal. Youma, it felt like. Strong youma, or multiple youma.

She took off in the proper direction, running from rooftop to rooftop in an effort to stay inconspicuous for an afternoon and to avoid trafficked areas. She needed to get there quickly and with as little notice as possible from below. She approached the scene and landed lightly on the ground, her stomach in her throat every time she did that. She wasn't used to being powered yet and it had been a while.

She recognized the senshi already on the scene. She'd seen her at the Winter Gala. Not that the senshi would have known that but at least there was someone already on the scene. The large beast turned and snarled at Polaris as she got its attention and just as Shalott arrived on the scene. She hadn't even thrown a punch yet and already the page felt she was in over her head. She was thankful she hadn't decided to try and take this one on while she was alone.

"You have back up." she said, announcing her presence to the senshi. "Whatever I can do to help."

There was plenty of metal in a playground. In fact, if she were in a battle with some huge youma a playground would be a wonderful place for it. Plenty of ammo at her disposal. Unfortunately that also meant the possibility for collateral damage was high. Her teeth clenched momentarily as the thought of the girls getting knocked to the ground because of the monkey bars shaking and bending to her magnetic powers. She'd have to be careful. Super careful.

The eternal senshi dashed a few steps closer, still trying to gain the youma's attention when the call sounded, her eyes glancing back over her shoulder. A knight! Relief touched her, all the more optimistic in her chance of success now. It didn't matter that she didn't know the other knight yet, Polaris had faith in all her allies. Anyone who would come to the aid of children couldn't possibly be bad, right?

A plan though.. ummm..? Why didn't her mind work as quickly as her feet did? "Umm. If you think you can get close enough to get the girls off the bars and out of the park I'll try my best to lead the youma away and keep it's attention."

It was the best she could offer right off the bat. In the meantime, a large and fairly full trash can scratched and moaned against the ground before suddenly becoming airborne, flying into the youma with a crash and clang. "Super magnetic field!"

The Squire was ready. She nodded at her instructions and moved off to help the senshi protect the girls. That was her main focus in any situation. Save the civilians, keep them safe, stay alive. It was all but her main mantra in life now.

As the trashcan went flying she blinked in surprise. She hadn't seen senshi powers active or she really couldn't remember if she had. Maybe at City Hall but that was months ago. Shalott shook her head and sighed. This wasn't the time and she needed to get her head in the game. As the youma responded to being attacked by the Senshi it did, indeed, focus on her. This was good for Shalott, not so good for Polaris.

She moved toward where the girls were, sneaking little by little as the rather large youma tried to get rid of the offending trashcan and then glowered at his rival. She'd go back for Polaris when the girls were well away, that much was certain. The two girls looked terrified and as the mother reached up to help them the monster seemed to notice she was helping its prey escape and wanted none of that. The knight froze.

"Crap."

She trusted Polaris to help get them through this. After all, she knew she could count on members of order. She winced as the hulking thing snarled and looked like it was ready to do some collateral damage of its own. Shalott, in a very large act of bravery (or stupidity) put her arms up again.

"Jump girls! Get behind me!" They did.

It had worked at first. The sting and sound of the trash can turning the monster's attention and fury towards Polaris. She dug a foot nervously into the ground to steady her as the beast roared and showed off it's deadly sharp teeth. Why did they always have to be so scary? And big?

The monster lurched towards her, and she took a step backwards, hands outstretched as if they'd actually do some good or damage. They wouldn't really, Polaris had never been much of a hand to hand brawler. But before she could even try something happened.

The youma's ears bolted upwards at the sound of the knight's voice, pivoting quickly back towards the knight and it's bite sized dinner. A clawed hand lifted and prepared to swipe at the brave knight.

They were all too close. The monters, the children, and the knight. If she used her powers she'd almost certainly hit them all. And the kids were so small, they wouldn't understand and could get really hurt. And she couldn't repel more than two people from each other.

A sound of frusteration and confusion escaped the senshi in her uncertainty, but she had no time to try and decide. "Magnetic attraction!"

The towering beast swung his arm at Shalott, but not before he was suddenly ripped up into the air, and hurtling backwards at Polaris. The crash of him hitting the senshi sent the two of them flying backwards in a serenade of screams and snarls.

The youma and senshi were stuck together. Thankfully for the moment the youma's back was stuck to her, but she was also crushed to the ground beneath it's weight. It would only be a matter of time before it twisted and turned to face her, once it was done freaking out over the fact that it was trapped. Maybe it would be stupid enough to spend the entire time freaking out and ignore her.

With little else she could do Polaris tried to punch and kick at the thick skin of the youma's back. "Get... them.. out of here!!"

The last time she'd done this particular attack had been near disasterous. But then.. General Sassolite was a HELL of a lot scarier then any youma.

Oh, boy! This couldn't be good. As the youma took notice of her arrival so did the senshi. She'd seen her once, around Christmas. That heartened the knight. She was debating what to do, how to react, the Squire entirely shocked into stillness. That wouldn't help the situation but before she could linger too long in indecision Polaris made the choice for her.

The attack was incredible. She watched as the senshi and the youma were thrown together like children playing with magnets. It was really quite impressive. However, now that meant the senshi was trapped with a very dangerous and already snarling beast. Despite her directive Shalott could not leave her here alone. It wasn't in her mothering nature to abandon a child, and that's how she viewed Polaris, to any sort of danger.

But there were smaller children to consider, as well. Shalott bent at the knees and looked the two frightened little girls in the eyes. She smiled reassuringly, taking precious seconds, and smoothed their hair, checking for injuries. They were frightened and a little banged up from the commotion and panic but otherwise alright.

"There now." she whispered softly, soothingly, trying to draw their focus from the monster behind them. "You're alright. Run home. Run home and don't look back here until you are safe and sound."

The little girls did not need to be told twice. They grabbed each other's hands and took off. "Be Careful!" echoed behind them in the knight's voice. Then Shalott turned, having taken time and hoping Polaris was alright for it. She did something else very stupid, throwing a rock at the youma to gain its attention. She wasn't sure how the power worked but it appeared like they were stuck. If she could keep its focus maybe the senshi wouldn't be very hurt in the scuffle. Maybe. But this meant being the decoy.

It was frightening. Which was saying quite a bit considering the things that Polaris had seen during her time as a senshi. There had been a lot of really scary things.. the sort of thing that lingered long into nightmares. But there was something momentarily frighting about being trapped beneath the large youma, and the helpless feeling as it ground her into the dirt with it's crazied and confused struggling.

She was making sounds she'd rather not be making as she tried to be brave and tough. Soft whines as she tried to keep air in her lungs despite all the weight on her chest. Her kicks and digging fingers were almost useless against it's tough skin, but she tried nonetheless. The children were safe right? The knight must have gotten them away by now. Polaris was oblivious to the scene taking place over by the monkey bars. That Shalott had sent the kids on their way and was now concerned with her.

It had been about 45 seconds since Polaris and the youma had found themselves glued together. And as the knight heaved the rock it did gain the youma's attention with an angry roar. And moments later it pulled itself off the squished senshi as her eternal power faded before lurching towards the knight.

Groaning, Polaris winced, dragging in a few large breaths as she tried to turn herself over, eyes attempting to focus on the monster and what it was going after now. She didn't have much more energy.. enough for one last attack maybe. So she was going to have to make it count.

Good, she had its attention now...

Oh CRAP! She had its attention now!

As the youma lunged for her Shalott panicked. She had only meant to keep Polaris safe and that was what she'd done, mostly. Now that it was heading in her direction, snarling for the indignities it suffered, or whatever it was thinking, she didn't have a new plan. Her violet eyes widened like a deer in the headlights.

"Oh, dear God."

The beast stopped and swiped at her with its claws. Shalott ducked to the side, diving to the ground but not soon enough to miss the sweep of the beast's claws. The damage wasn't as bad as it could have been, she was lucky, but the fabric of her uniform was ripped and there were rivulets taken from her skin, blood seeping out. The knight could not suppress a cry of pain, crash landing on the ground.

She rolled, seeing the youma standing over her. She lashed out with her leg, catching the thing in the jaw and trying to move out the way as best as she was able. It howled, distracted enough to let her put some distance between them. Shalott put a hand to her side to try and staunch the bleeding. She didn't know what her power could do but she knew it had something to do with the garland that hung about her neck.

If it came to worse she could try it and maybe put everyone to sleep or something in the process. She didn't know. For now, though, the youma was good and distracted.

She was still struggling to gain her breath and senses after being squished and grinded into the ground. Her yes were searching for a piece of metal, something big enough that it would hopefully take out the youma, but small enough that she was sure it would work because she wasn't sure if she could do another attack after this one.

The knight's cry of pain ripped through her uncertainty and suddenly she had a moment of clarity, an idea popping into her head. One that she would be kicking herself for not realizing earlier after the fact, once everything was said and done and the youma was gone.

A pulse of energy flared as Polaris pushed herself up wearily and where there had once been an eternal senshi a princess now stood. Her fingers immediately reached up to her forehead, the jeweled tiara that was resting there appearing suddenly in her hand.

It took just a moment's concentration, and she hoped that the aura would be enough to distract the monster, or that the squire was doing alright keeping the monster at bay. But as soon as the tiara began to spin and radiate with energy she swung with a flick of her wrist, watching the youma shatter into dust the moment it touched him.

Why hadn't she thought about it right off the bat? She could have saved the kids no problem if she'd just been thinking clearly. She was just so new at this 'princess' thing and she certainly didn't have a handle on all the new powers. The time to mope and admonish herself was later though, and Polaris ran (as fast as she could on the unfamiliar heels) to where the knight was, clearly spotting the tell tale signs of blood.

"Are you alright?" She called out, concern obvious on her voice. And then came the slew of apologies, without a moment for breath between them. "I'm so so sorry I didn't think of this earlier. You wouldn't be hurt if I had just powered up. I'm just so new to this and I'm so so so sorry."

Shalott was a short distance from the youma and closing. There wasn't time to think about her injury during her plans on how to avoid further harm. As the monster moved closer to her she fought off the urge to panic in lieu of something much more practical...she hoped.

The new aura, though, was enough to distract them both.

The youma turned in time to be turned to dust and all Shalott could do was stare in wonder at the princess in front of her. She'd never felt an aura like it, had never seen anyone so beautiful. She let out a quiet sigh, mesmerized, while she tried to take all of it in.

"I'm fine."

Or at least she thought she would be. The rake of claws down her side hurt like hell, it was bad, but she figured it could have been worse. She'd just have new scars to talk about, should someone ever have a chance to see them. It probably wasn't the most ideal thing but she was alive and that was worth it.

"It's...I'll wrap them up when I get home. You probably saved my life."

And, truth to tell, she was still dazed by meeting a princess.
