Hel couldn’t exactly express how relieved she was to be back the way she should be. That whole gender swapping fiasco had been a day not worth remembering…with equally less than desirable events happening in it. But luckily, it had only lasted a day, and when Hel went to sleep, she woke up to being in her right form once more. Thank Jack. The valkyrie resisted the strong urge to grab her chest for the umpteenth time that day. She was kind of in public now…strolling through the Reaper dorm’s common room. A good day…or so she hoped it would be. The day was still young.

Thanatos had, unfortunately, missed the whole gender-bending episode, having arrived in school almost immediately the morning after. It took almost the whole morning to get all the boxes into his room and then unpack the more important things... His towel and clothing, for example, as the first thing he ended up doing was to take a nice, warm shower to freshen up from a whole morning of lifting and shifting and hoisting.
"How's the heat lamp?" He grinned, tossing the wet towel into a bin at the side of the bathroom door before walking over to the side of his bed, tapping his sleepy-looking familiar on the nose to get her attention, "Looks like you're settling in just fine. Come on, let's go for a little walk~ See why the folks back home were so insistent about me joining this school."
Anyone else might had trouble with it, but lifting an anaconda-sized snake and allowing her to rest on the shoulders was easy when you've been doing it your whole life, even if it did take him a second to regain his balance.
"Where we headed to, darling?" The snake yawned, putting her head on his shoulder, tongue flickering in and out.
"The common room," He answered, heading out the door and down the corridor in quick, brisk steps despite the weight on his shoulders and his arms, which Biskoto had coiled around to support herself, "I have a feeling that it would be an excellent place to start."

Hel paused in the middle of the common room and her brows furrowed. Huh.
What did she want to do today?
She didn’t know. The reaper let out a sigh as she placed a hand on her hip and rubbed her chin with the other, staring up at the ceiling as if it might tell her the answer. She had already done her daily training regimen this morning…and well…she was at a loss now. Sure, she could go pester Mot, but honestly, the ghoul was still kind of butt hurt miffed that he had scolded her the other day when Riyo was to blame as well…so that probably wasn’t the best option at the moment. Hel sighed again, reaching up to the rub the back of her neck as she mulled it over.
Was it too much to hope that something would just appear? Oh…wait…Hel perked up as she heard the sound of approaching footsteps, and turned her head in the direction of the sound curiously.

The footsteps grew louder as he neared, and a distinctly feminine voice could be heard way before anyone could be seen, "-ssssaid sssssomething about the sssssschool getting into a lot of trouble with the Bogeyssss assss of late." She sounded worried.
"Really? HA, that's my kind of school," He mused, rounding the corning and walking straight into the common room, stopping at the door to look around, his attention immediately drawn to the only other person in the room - a ghoul with wings... Fairly unusual, assuming that she's a reaper and not from another dorm, although it could only mean that she's a-
"Valkyrie?" He grinned, although it was bordering on being a smirk, making a beeline for her, offering her a hand when he was close enough, "Never thought that I would meet one myself. At least, not so soon." Making all the connections before the other families get here... They wouldn't be able to talk to anyone by the time he's through.
"Ohh, hello darling!" The happy snake resting on his shoulder piped in, moving down his arm to rest near his hand, tongue flicking out towards the stranger.

Hel tilted her head curiously as she heard two voices echoing down the hall, and looked just as curious as something HUGE suddenly appeared in the doorway.
Oh, the reaper wasn’t that small either.
They were then making a beeline to her…and not only that, but this new reaper seemed pretty outgoing and cheerful as well…just like herself! Hel looked surprised for only a moment before her face exploded into a wide grin. Oh, someone who knew what she was too! That was rather refreshing. “Indeed!” She cheered, and when the reaper offered her his hand, she reached out to take it firmly within her own and gave it a hearty shake. Now, Hel looked a bit surprised once more as his familiar greeted her. Now…Hel had seen snakes…but never…one that big before.
“Ah, hello!” The ghoul greeted in return. “It is a pleasure to meet you both! I am called Hel.” Snakes got scents through their tongues, right? Hel was sure she heard that somewhere. “Are you new to the Academy?” She’d never seen him before…and she certainly wouldn’t forget him with a familiar like that.

Yeah, that's what she said. ;D
Her hand was given a firm shake in return, "I'm Thanatos, and this is Biskoto." He gestured at the snake with his free hand, the grin on his face never faltering; starting out in the school with someone friendly was surely an advantage.
After all, the friendly ones tend to know more people.
"Pleasure's all mine," He paused briefly, holding onto her hand to allow his familiar to gently bump the top of her head against the ghoul's hand before letting go.
"Hel issss a pretty name," Biskoto tilted her head this way and that, although she could only distinguish out the fact that Hel was definitely warm-blooded, "You musssst be asss pretty assss your name... Issssn't sssshe, Than?" She looked up at the reaper with a smile - although that might just be the way she normally looks.
"Very much so," He chuckled before nodding at Hel, "Great observation! I arrived just this morning, actually, although I've heard so much about this place that I feel like I've been here a while." Always Amityville this, Amityville that when he was at home... You would think they would be distraught if the school hadn't accepted his application.
"Not that I wouldn't like to hear more, of course," He added with a thoughtful look.

Thanatos and Biskoto…got it!
Hel was still grinning widely. Yay, new friends! The ghoul blinked curiously as Than held onto her hand, and watched as his familiar bumped her head against her hand. Oooh! Biskoto felt…different…and cool! Hel never really interacted much with snakes before. As her hand was released, it ended up hovering near his snake. “May I?” She questioned curiously. She wanted to pet the snake!
As she was complimented, well, Hel couldn’t help but feel and look flattered. How nice it was to be called pretty and not cute. She grinned up at the two, and gave a tilt of her head. “…Ah…have you now?” She echoed. “…Well…what did you want to know, friend?”

"May she?" The reaper grinned, looked down at his familiar, already knowing what she would say.
"Why, of course, darling!" She nodded her head, rising it till she could feel Hel's hand on the top of her head; there, she stayed for a while till she decided that she wanted to give this ghoul a hug, leading her to put her head on top of the Valkyrie's hand before coiling around her arm, sliding up to her shoulder while most of her body was still resting on Thanatos; the first thing Hel would probably notice was the weight, even if she wasn't putting her full weight on her.
"Amityville had always been rather infamous for its orthodox methods, but recently..." He paused briefly, "There had been concerns about its general safety." He wanted to know how much of what the newspapers and news report are true.

Hel seemed rather enthralled with the texture and temperature of his snake, especially as Biskoto pressed her head against her hand. She was watching the familiar with delight, and didn’t seem alarmed as she started to move up her arm. Hel blinked, definitely starting to notice the weight as the snake came further and further up her arm. Wow, and Thanatos seemed to handle her with ease, but that was to be expected, if she was his familiar! Still, the valkyrie was mightily impressed, but she’d be able to handle it too, she convinced herself. Hel braced herself, and tilted her head towards Biskoto, smiling with glee until Thanatos resumed questioning her.
“…Ah…” So he was interested about that, huh? The ghoul hummed thoughtfully, her dual toned gaze sliding back to Biskoto thoughtfully. Speaking of safety…they apparently needed to be careful of…ah…some students…being Hunters in disguise and all that…but…would a hunter be able to pull off posing with a familiar like this? Hel wasn’t so sure it was possible…
“…Heh…” She grinned up at the reaper. “…I suppose you are not that concerned…especially if you came here, after all…” It was a light jest. “…There are concerns yes…but the same could be said for anywhere, really. Was there in specific you wanted to know about? It is challenging to try and answer such vague questions.”

Biskoto creeped moved further up her arm, coiling as she went until she reached his shoulder. There, she paused momentarily before moving on, past the back of her neck and appearing on the other side, under her braid, peeking up curiously at the ghoul, "You sssseem pretty musssscular!"
Really, from her experiences, most of the ghouls back home would probably not be standing up straight by now; they also normally didn't have such firm arms.
"Work out often?" He commented idly before laughing, shaking his head and shrugging, "Not very concerned personally, but I don't think the folks back home would appreciate my school putting me in danger." And then it would be back home for him; something he was trying to put off for as long as possible.
"Ah, how about the reports of the whole school vanishing during Christmastival?" He had yet to read anything explaining that in the papers.

Hel shivered lightly as Biskoto skimmed around the back of her neck, and giggled lightly. That was a bit chilly and awesome feeling! She tilted her head to peer at the snake as she came from her other shoulder and grinned. “Every day since I could walk and summon my weapon!” She informed the two before looking back at Thanatos.
“…Heh…If you want to stay then…you better not tell your folks anything…because the ‘in danger’ part is uh…becoming fairly common-place.” A hand came up to gently pet Biskoto on her ridged head. At the question about Christmastival, Hel gave a slight nod. “True!” She informed. “I was inside the school when it happened…it had become encased in class and this…this…wretched music played while we were trapped. No one could go in and no one could get out…and ah, it snowed heavily.”

"So what they say about Valkyries are true then?" He couldn't resist commenting with a light chuckle, "About them being warriors." So much hear-say, so much fragmented information...
"Common-place? Oh dear..." Biskoto looked more worried than her owner as she hissed softly, rubbing gently against Hel's hand, enjoying the attention she was receiving while finding comfort in the gesture. It also helped that she could feel Thanatos' hands patting the part of her body still draped around his shoulders, "I don't think they'll be happy to hear that, Than darling..."
"Oh, but they won't ask me to withdraw," He waved a hand in the air, as if to dismiss the worry, "You know how they are..." Trailing off, he paused momentarily to rub his chin with a thoughtful look, "That does sound really unusual... Did the school authorities ever provide an explanation as to why or how that happened?"

Hel tilted her head towards the reaper, a brow rising. What did they say about valkyries, huh? At his statement, she grinned widely. “Damn straight.” She replied.
The ghoul looked between Biskoto and her master, and she couldn’t say she exactly fault the snake and her sentiments. She supposed a lot of families would want to pull their children from school after uh…all the stuff that happened. Not valkyries though…no…they did not run! “Eh…” Hel lightly brushed a cheek against Biskoto’s head. “Not really. The rumors flew though, you can be sure…revenge from a place called Christmastown…but…more urgent I suppose…the idea that ah…Hunters could have been involved. Have you heard about those?” Here Hel’s eyes narrowed speculatively, as she stared at Thanatos intently, waiting to gauge his reaction.

"Hunterssss?" The familiar was enjoying all the attention, relaxing until that one word caught her attention. Lifting up her head rather suddenly to hear more, she ended up bumping the top of her head against Hel's cheek, prompting a series of soft hisses that sounded like a flustered apology.
"I've heard of them," Thanatos replied with a thoughtful look, chuckling softly at Biskoto's antics. One eyebrow was raised at the face Hel was making at him; it was almost interesting... From the way she asked that question, coupled with her current expression, you would have thought that she believed hunters to be real, "Then again, if you were born and raised in Halloween, you would have heard mention of them at least once, in stories used to scare scarelings into being good and keep them in bed at night."

“Oop!” Hel tilted her head back up a bit as Biskoto accidentally bumped it. She rested her hand on the snake’s head and brushed her thumb gently across her nose.
The valkyrie made a sour face at Thanatos’ reply, though she tried to remind herself that she couldn’t be too upset, because he wouldn’t know. Still…being caught in a net, watching what happened to her fellow classmates, what happened to Mot…what happened to Red…when she thought about that, it made her blood boil at the thought that all they were to other citizens were stories. Hel’s brows furrowed as she stared up at the reaper intensely.
“I do solemnly swear on my honor and existence, friend, that Hunters are not just stories. They are real. Too real. I have encountered them first hand on the last school field trip a few months ago.”
