The sound of the water shifting the docks was almost a welcoming noise as the blonde walked up. It'd been some time since he'd wandered out here to the sea and boy was it a welcoming sight. Though it mildly surprised him that he was still found of it as it brought back some uncomfortable memories. Ones he wouldn't dwell on as his sneakers met wood. The sound his shoes made as he walked down the planks were rhythmic. Breathing in deeply, Ziya took in the smells of sea water and that wet wood scent. Sighing softly, he reopened his grey hues and stared straight out into the sea. His chores could wait; it wasn't like the market would run out of milk and bread right?
The teen enjoyed his time alone, now he was a teen he was able to wander the streets alone. He could enjoy the night sky after a great storm at any hour he wished. Ashton trusted him and was well aware that he could take care of himself. Shepard would always say he could take better care of himself then Ashton ever could. Which would start some rather long strings of curses and grumblings from the raven haired guardian of his.
It had been several months since Shepard had moved into their house; not that he minded anyways. The tall soft spoken man was a good counter part for his grumpy and sometimes antisocial guardian. Shepard had become more like a second parent to him, which would start even more funny jokes at his guardians expense.
Stopping at the lip of the long dock, Ziya set his hand sin his pockets and just stared out. Perhaps he could see if any of the boaters had spare parts he could have, the more supplies the better. One would never know when you would need a strange scrap of metal to put something back together?

Finally. Solitude.
It wasn't that he didn't like Tesla, it was just that being a giant ray of sunshine had its downside, namely that he was always blinded by her over-exuberance. Drawing in a short breath, he rearranged the paper-boy hat on his head and stuck his gloved hands into his pockets, rather miserable. He was learning to disdain going out into the human world - and that's what it was, a world full of humans and human looking things. When he was born, he had thought maybe there would be more like him, but...so far, he was on his own. It was kind of cool to be unique, but it was an alienating feeling when his caretaker wouldn't let him go out unless he was covered. The only exception was his eyes, but they were purchasing glasses just in case - the black sclera and deep blue irises were mostly hidden by the brim of his hat, but not entirely invisible.
And so, with boots that made him feel leggy and awkward, a jacket barely concealing the irritated shift of his wings, he walked as nonchalantly as he could in the strange human things, having been let to wander while Tesla made some purchases in fish and twine. He had promised he'd stay by the dock he'd seen on the way in, having no desire to mingle with more people that looked like cookie cutter variants of each other. Grumpy, hungry and more than a little uncomfortable in all his clothes, the dragon boy stopped his advance when he noticed he wasn't alone on the docks: a young man was there, a being of golden hue that was not quite the standard cut-out he was already used to seeing. Well. Maybe this one would be more agreeable to be around than the other masses in the marketplace.
With hands still dug in his pockets, he ambled forward a little more and paused by the teenager, also staring out over the ocean. He was quiet, mostly because he was damnably miserable, but understood the reasons why. Flicking his odd-colored eyes to the side, he tilted his head and observed the blonde again, determining just what it was the other was doing - or if he was like him, and trying to not just be another face in the crowd.

The soft echo of smaller foot falls sounded behind him, the vibrations of the others foot steps rattling his sneakers. Without even looking there was a familiar twinge to the others presence; which was one he hadn't sensed in a while. The lack of contact with others of his kind made this stand out more to him. All of his friends seemed to have disappeared on him in the last couple months. He was beginning to wounder if it was something he'd done. Had he angered or annoyed all of them some how? His guardian had reassured him numerous of times that it was most likely they had either moved or had gotten busy. Either way, couldn't have any of them given him some sort of warning? It achingly reminded him of Aren, which made his heart twinge a little.
Shaking those thoughts from his head, he could feel the others eyes on him, which made the corners of his mouth twitch into a half smile. He closed his eyes for a moment and felt the docks shift from the waves of the water. If it were warmer he would have his shoes and socks off, pants rolled up with his feet int he water. However the sharp edges of winter were still lingering; that activity would have to wait.
"Nice day out isn't it?" He said softly, without looking at the child yet. He could tell it was another dust, a child from a strange bottle. Probably at that awkward stage of now having parts that moved and being able to explore. However that awkward stage still liked to linger even when older.

The teen was...smiling. Nolan didn't quite know why, but it was a sweet expression, something wistful and not unwelcome. The dragon's tense shoulders relaxed just a little, slightly more at ease around the vibrant blonde. There was something strangely acrid about the air about him, a sharp static that he could almost taste on his tongue. It was definitely not at all like being around Tesla or Elias, and as such, he was interested.
The words were quiet and unassuming, drawing Nolan's attention once more. He was not so rude as to not respond when spoken to by his elders - not yet, anyway. The child was slow to answer, however, considering his words before using them, "If the sun is out, I'm happy." Turning his discolored eyes over the horizon, he lifted his chin as a light breeze sprayed against his face. Nothing made him happier than curling up in a patch of sun, irregardless of the weather around him - snow, rain or wind, he was easy to please.
His coat shifted slightly as his hidden tail curled against it, continuing to relax in the teen's presence. Nolan was curious enough to speak on his own without prompting for the moment, lifting a gloved hand out of his pocket to scratch at a horn beneath his hat. "What're you...doing here?"

The smile on his face widened w hen the child responded, feeling as though some ice had broken between them. There was some saying along those lines ... wasn't there? Hmmmm..
" The sun is always nice, although a nice cool rain fall isn't so bad either from time to time" Ziya said softly, remaining calm as he stood there. The static around his being always changed with his moods and the weather apparently. Right now he was harmless and was in complete control of his element.
The teen paused at the child's question, finally moving to look down at him. His eyes flickered over him, which reenforcing his thoughts of the other being a dust. "Honestly.... I'm avoiding doing my chores..." he chuckled a little, rubbing his neck with his single gloved hand.
"What about you? What brings you to the docks?" Ziya asked this time. It was nice to know he wasn't so scary that kids didn't want to talk to him. Loads of people would blush and look at him but not talk to him. Or they'd just stare and quickly look away when he looked at the person or persons. It was strange and Ashton would always just laugh when he asked if something was wrong with him.

The gentle comment about rain earned another sidelong glance, realizing that though he knew what rain - snow, wind, all that - actually was, he didn't have a physical memory of it. The chores part he understood, mostly because his awakening came with seeing his Tesla doing the 'chore' of cleaning up the mess he'd wrought in bottle form. The idea of avoiding them was both amusing and confusing to the Dust; he certainly wouldn't have wanted to live in the clutter of what had happened to his house if he could help it.
Nolan uttered a soft sound, and at the question posted to him, he seemed to tire of his 'blending in.' "Avoiding being stared at," he responded in a child-like manner, petulant and not at all happy about it. Defying the rules set by Tesla, he gripped the brim of the hat and took it off, scowling into the crown of it. His dark hair was slightly messy, but the breeze on the docks seemed to smooth it back into place for him, the parted strands wafting delicately over his nubby horns. As if to challenge the idea that he was strange to look at, he turned his inverted eyes back to the teen, lips pressed into a pout. "Do I look weird to you?"
The question was simple and childish but it was also grave to the young boy. Just a youth, he had little concept of the scale of the world and how many humans there were verses his own kind, and had no concept at all of racism or fear. It wasn't that Nolan didn't trust Tesla's care and concern for him, he just...didn't understand.

With his gazing staring back out towards the sea, he relaxed and let t he feeling of the other dusts presence roll over him. It was curious to know if the other felt the same sensation he did when near another of his own. The child hadn't asked any questions yet so perhaps he couldn't? Could it be that the newer generation of dusts didn't have this ability or was it something they grew into?
Turning his gaze back towards the child, he arched an eyebrow at the others words. Avoid being stared at? What could he mean by that? However his question was quickly answered when the child took his hat off. Ziya noticed the horns right away; any doubts of the child being a Dust were quickly erased. Horns, he could now see the need for the hat, as well as he noticed the childs eyes weren't exactly normal either. Before he could reply he was given another question in a veyr child like manner. Ah, so it was a worry his guardian had because the child would very likely stand out in a crowd.
"I don't strange is a very good word to use.... I would say you're more interesting" Ziya smiled and turned completely to face him. The tall teen took his hands from his pockets and smiled a little. "Though there is nothing wrong with being different from others.... though we're very different from regular people I guess" he smiled a little and brought his hands together. He generated some lightening between his hands, the flickers of hot yellow dancing from his fingers. The surge of power made some of the near by lights flicker but then it calmed when he stopped.

The dragon agreed with the teen on one thing, at least: he didn't think he looked strange. No, if anything, he thought the indistinct and uniform appearances of humankind was strange. Then again, it could have just been that he was stubbornly setting himself above most others that was coloring his judgment. "We?" Nolan echoed the word in gentle bafflement, cocking his head to the side to really look at the blonde. In his narrow scope of attention, he realized he hadn't given the other much in the way of consideration -- that maybe he wouldn't be comfortable seeing his 'differences' in the way Aric had been.
He was understandably surprised at the small peel of lightning that drew taut around the blonde's fingers and hands. The child's mouth fell into a perfect little 'o' of intrigue, clearly impressed in the sudden lift of his brows and the wideness of his off-colored eyes. "So you're..." he murmured, extended a gloved hand to reach in vain for the remaining sparks that disappeared into the air, "...you're like me?" Nolan's words were careful and measured, certainly not wanting to be insulting and even less wanting to come off as not knowing any better. It was still a strange, wide idea that there were any 'like' him. Though Aric had done much in the way of assuaging his uncertainty, he still didn't feel like them; Aric and this teen with their natural, awe-inspiring powers and he...well. He just looked weird.
Inching closer to the other, the child carefully removed one of his gloves one finger at a time, allowing his clawed digits their freedom. Tentatively - more because of the power he could still taste on the air and less about the consideration of personal space - he lightly danced his clawed fingertips over the exposed part of the blonde's fingers from his gloves. He didn't feel a jolt of the electricity, but he could feel it just beneath the skin, a heady thrum of power that was unmistakable, even to a child like he. "...I'm Nolan," he finally ventured to say, tilting his head back and looking up at the teenager with his standard forlorn expression. It was just the way his face was crafted, looking as though his best friend had died.
"You're really...cool." And then he tried to smile, though the expression was still unfamiliar on his face; only half of his lips moved, giving him a crooked, lop-sided smile that while strange, was entirely in earnest.

Biting back a soft chuckle, the teen watched the horned child with a smile that well reached his eyes. The silvery grey hues watched the child very carefully as he let the energy dance around his fingers. The crackles of energy licked and flickered around his long slender fingers as they jumped fluidly from digit to digit. It wasn't often he displayed his powers to others as he general liked to keep them under lock and key. The sheer amount of destruction they could bring always made him a little leery. He was well aware that there was a natural static hum around him, that under some circumstances he could give a slight static shock.
"To some extent yes, we're the same thing but made up of different things I assume" Ziya said softly as the child walked over to him. Keeping his hands steady for the child to examine, he couldn't keep the smile from his face. The electric teen was very easy going with his sense of personal space, allowing the child to get into his space. It also gave him time to feel out the other as well, not sure what sort this child was. He couldn't pick up any sort of element which led him to believe he was possibly aligned with an animal of some kind. As he had gotten older, Ziya had noticed his ability to sense others like himself had gotten a little sharper. There had always been a feeling of some kind when he ran into another like himself but now he was able to pick up other little details.
"I'm Ziya, its nice to meet you Nolan" He said gently, a kind smile still on his face. Finding himself unable to hold it back, the teen chuckled when the child said he was really cool. That was very unexpected but very nice to hear! "Thanks, not something I hear often" He grinned and stretched his fingers a little.
"If you don't mind me asking, what sort of animal are you aligned with? You can tell I'm aligned with lightening...." Ziya asked with a small smile. This kid seemed like a very reserved type, so he wasn't sure if he was going to get an answer or not.

The dragon drew in a sharp breath, off-colored eyes widening with childish awe at the display that flit from finger to finger at a closer proximity. His claws ached and stretched to touch the delicious golden threads but he dared not to, not yet, instead worrying the inside of his lip between sharp teeth as though to keep himself grounded. Whether it was a natural reaction to the electricity or just a part of his persona, even he didn't know. There was a vague sense of disappointment in his expression as the sparks dimmed, but Ziya had effectively garnered and held the child's somber attention.
"Ziya," he repeated the name, finding it 'felt' like the electricity he'd just seen and thus was suitable. "I like your name." The teen's easy smiles and laughter set some of the tension out of the younger boy's body, curiosity beginning to dominate his weariness. While Tesla had told him to be cautious, he didn't see the need for it in the company of his own kind.
Animal? At first, Nolan's expression was oddly blank at the question, his mind a little slow to piece the puzzle together. After drawing a line of lightening to Ziya, however, he realized the askance with a lift of his brows. "Oh, I..." Aligned. What he was aligned with? The boy struggled a little, trying to come to terms with the word; it wasn't that he didn't understand it, but he didn't feel aligned. It was more like he was a beast trapped in the unfamiliar and feeble body of a human, but he was not yet articulate enough to share those thoughts. Instead, without glancing around to check for safety, he removed his gloves and set them aside, clumsily unfastening his jacket. It took a few minutes of awkward use of buttons and the equally unfamiliar removal of the undershirt, but once he was in his breeches, he was free to stretch his tiny wings and sway his tail behind himself. The only part of him that was still 'hidden' were his clawed feet and double-jointed legs.
"I'm a dragon," he said very matter-of-fact to Ziya. "I don't think you or Aric are dragons, but you're from the glass womb, right?" His tail swayed low, tapping against the dock thoughtfully. Maybe that's where their similarity was? Cocking his head to the side, he extended a clawed hand to delicately draw across Ziya's sleeve. "Why did you take on this form?" As a child - and a newborn at that - his understanding of what they were and their role was limited to nothing really at all.

To see the child and all of his dragon traits was very impressive; something even he had never seen before. Now Zya had seen many different sorts of dusts, a girl with fairy wings, a boy with purpleish skin and a adult with feathers. But Nolan was quite different in a way he thought was very cool and unique. "You're wings are really something Nolan, very cool" Ziya said with a big grin on his face. he had wanted to say cute but he figured that wouldn't be appreciated as much. Ziya remembered how awkward it was to be fawned over and called cute all the time.
"I can see that" He chuckled, grey eyes bright as he looked at the child. It was always so amazing, who knew what other types of dusts were out there. "Ah, no I'm not a dragon.. though it would be neat" he grinned. Pausing when he said 'glass womb' the lightening teen took a few moments before figuring out what he meant. "A glass bottle? Uh, yes I did...a long time ago I did yes..." He added shortly after. it was strange to think of it that way but also it made sense. Ashton's friend Heather had explained to him where human babies came from once upon a time so he found sense in the analogy. However he really struggled for an answer when he was asked why he chose this form. "Well.... I really didn't choose... its just what I was given.... I can't imagine myself any other sort of way really.. I mean lightening is just a violent flash of light and energy.... I am that... just contained within this body.... I can control it on most occasions but then when I can't I have found means of coping..." The lightening dust shrugged a little. "We all seem to carry traits of our abilities.... like I have a friend which has pixie wings.... and another who can make people ill from extended exposure...."

The compliment to his wings garnered a brief backwards glance, arching the leather appendages before curving them comfortably against his back. They were cool, like an addition, but to him...they were normal. It was everyone else who looked odd and flightless. "Thanks," he murmured, slightly abashed. Nolan still was grasping the whole 'manners' thing.
But the words that followed seemed to startle the dragon, dark eyes widening a touch as he listened. The cogs and wheels turning in the child's mind were almost visible in the way his eyes crinkled at the edges to muster an understanding, the way his brows knitted and lofted in consideration. "I...I see." His words were slow, hesitant and a little uncomfortable. "So we're just...we're just taken as our basic -- our --" Nolan's vocabulary wasn't quite as extensive as he would have liked, having a hard time grasping for the proper words. "What we are is put in that womb -- the bottle, and -- we're born like this?" For a moment, his perplexed expression looked like one of disappointment. "To look more like them?" His understanding of where they came from and what they were was still limited; as far as he was concerned, some crafty human had shoved his essence in a bottle and that was how he came to be. That the Dusts were meant for something greater - that they were even called Dusts - was entirely beyond his childish way of thinking.
But what Ziya said... That was an enormous let down! If he was a dragon and he still looked largely in part like he knew he should...did that make him even more different? Or was it simply just a luck of the draw, a control of the abilities that Ziya had listed off? Frowning, Nolan stared at his clothing for a long stretch of silence before carefully starting to piece it back on. "I hope if I get to be as big as you," he commented slowly, "that I'll be as...okay with everything as you are, too."

Wondering if he had said the wrong thing, Ziya paused and considered the child for a moment and chewed his lip a little. "What we are can be taken in many different ways... there is no reason why what I say is the only truth... heck what I even say may not even be true.... or it may not even be able to be explained" Ziya said, wondering how they had become so philosophical. Nolan seemed like a very deeply serious child so he assumed deep conversations came hand in hand. It made him wonder how him and Fintan would get along.
"I don't know if we are meant to look like them.... because there are a few I have met that sure don't, you included... but some of us blend in a little more, like myself" Ziya replied softly, rubbing his neck a little. "I have a friend.... who has purple hair and corpse colored skin.... then there were two twin girls I met once who had feathers on their arms and claws.... they were Harpies I believe..." He listed off, sensing some worry from the child.
A low chuckle escaped him from the dragons last comment and grinned. "I'm sure you will get as big as me... probably taller I bet," he smiled, " It took a while for me to be this okay with everything.... I had lots of problems with my powers... I have accidentally hurt people I care about because of them... I look like a regular human"

It was odd, considering that there were more 'like him,' and while it should have been a comfort, he was realizing he didn't really even know what they were or what purpose they served to be born in such a manner! Frowning, he turned his dark eyes to Ziya, claws carefully drawing his buttons back together on his coat. "Then...what are we?" Tesla certainly hadn't told him anything about what he was, only that he was different; she seemed as perplexed as he was. "If I'm not...a dragon, like I know that I am," the puzzlement was clear on his serious features, "then what are we?"
And he listened, taking in his elder's wisdom so that he might learn from it -- the notion that he might hurt those he cared about (hadn't he already done that to Tesla?), that he might be out of control someday when his powers did manifest. Nolan had no doubt they would -- it was like an itch in the back of his mind, a crawl of something beneath his skin; something was there, he just couldn't access it yet. "I'm sorry to hear that," he said softly, kindly. "But you look really well -- really...um, comfortable. In your skin." It was a compliment, as it was a feeling he was beginning to question in himself. Slipping his hat over his horns, he pulled his gloves out of his pocket and stared at them dully. Was this going to be how his entire life was? Hiding, like he was ashamed, for the comfort of people he didn't know and didn't care about?

Shifting from the balls of his feet to the heel, Ziya rocked back and fourth as he considered the childs words. There were many ways to explain what they were and he knew none of them had the concrete truth, or no one that he spoke to regularly. "To be honest I don't know" The lightening teen stated, pausing in his rocking. "I don't think any of us know.... but I think humans feel alot the same in that respect I believe.... why are we here, where did we come from... that sort of thing" He explained, stuffing his hands into his coat pocket. Unfortunately that was all he could think of telling the younger male as he probably knew just as much as he did. Having been around longer didn't always mean he knew everything.
Falling silent, he hummed softly but that was the only reply he gave in response to the sorry about his abilities. He was learning to cope with his abilities, it took time but if one really tired they could make things work. Grey hues shifted to look back over at the child and Ziya couldn't help but laugh softly. "Thanks...." He grinned a little and shifted his stance a little. "I don't always feel that way...." He murmrued and then looked closer at the child. Frowning a little, he patted the others shoulder gently. "You know, it snot always going to be liek this.... hiding and such..." he said, gripping the others shoulder in a reassuring manner. "One day I think we wont have to hide so much and I look forward to that day for you Nolen..." Stepping back after removing his hand, he placed it back into his pocket.
Taking several steps back, he looked skywards for a moment as he rolled his shoulder a little. "I best be going.... can't put off my chores any longer I think"
