x x x x x█║ WHO: Aric, Elias Nolan & Tesla
x x x x x█║ WHEN: Early afternoon.
x x x x x█║ WHERE: Amies; Tesla's house.
x x x x x█║ WEATHER: Cold with sun piercing the clouds.

She had to keep looking into the kitchen to make sure he was really there, and each time, she was rewarded with the flick of reptilian eyes, the black sclera and blue iris stare settling on her in the same inquisitive manner. Tesla would utter a strange, giddy little giggle, hide her lips behind the gentle press of fingers and zip off again to continue cleaning the front room. Ever since she had walked in on her bottle having become a full fledged child, she'd been in a strange sort of daze, not quite in her right mind; air-headed, even, though she easily attested that to having fainted. With a whimsical glance, she would continue to sweep up the broken glass and the remnants of the porcelain vase, not even remotely angry or upset about the events that had lead her to that point in time. It was still cool in the house with the hole in the window, but she hardly felt it, her skin flushed with a strange sort of joy. She didn't consider herself a mother, but she had a child to take care of now. A child. And not just any child: a freakishly strong dragon's blood child!

Another fit of giggling escaped her, biting her lower lip with excitement. She had to clean up before she could tote the poor thing around but she was so eager for Elias to meet her bottle - now her boy - and all he had become. Tesla was aware that the child would occasionally glance over to her, watch her and then resume closing his eyes and soaking up the sun that cut through the window, and it thrilled her each time. If there was ever any proof that the bottle had been sentient, he was sitting in her kitchen now. She knew she'd have to stop calling him an 'it' and referring to him as 'her bottle,' but it was so abrupt that her mind still hadn't caught up with it entirely. Tesla had enough sense to give him a name and test his faculties, but now she was giggling as she danced across the floor, cleaning with ease and speed as though she enjoyed it. She wanted nothing more than to sit opposite of her new ward and talk to him until he was sick of her, but she had to prepare for Elias if he ended up showing up to help her move everything. She'd have all the time she wanted to dote over him later.

Flicking her green eyes to him again, she was pleasantly surprised to catch his own strange gaze returning the attention. Tesla couldn't help but laugh again, caught up in the jubilation of the outcome of her fear and worries. For his part, the child simply shook his head and continued his inner sun-bathing, letting his caretaker laugh to herself like a lunatic.

He stared.

And stared.

The young man kept blinking and slapping his cheeks every five seconds, urging himself to wake up from this bizarre and scary dream. But the child in front of him just laughed, bright blue eyes flickering as he stared back into Elias' dull greys, regarding this as some sort of game with the older man. They were practically doing this all morning, aside from the initial startled cry of the hunter when he had found out that morning that there was a young boy in his bed. In his bed.

Of course there was a lot of yelling at first, Elias unable to keep his composure even as the young boy stretched out at him sleepy eyed and peeking a bright blue eye out at him and smiling as if he knew him. "It's me!" The boy answered---it took some time for Elias to realize that there were broken shards of glass on his floor, the sand nowhere to be found until he realized that the sand was following at the tanned boy's feet, swirling around him like a lovable pet. The man had felt rather faint that morning, awkwardly trying to give the child some breakfast when he had exclaimed that he was hungry, the man unsure of what---these---things ate. Yet The golden boy didn't seem to mind the food that Elias had prepared, watching the blue-eyed boy's actions as if everything was fascinating to him. He did have the presence of mind to ask him who he was--after he had apologized for his outburst in the bedroom. Yet the boy didn't know, merely answering with a shrug and an unsure smile.

Simply put Elias had a child now that he did not know what to do with. And as the boy started to curiously peek at his belongings, all his books and even his weapons, Elias had to pull him away and distract the over-energetic child immediately.

"Elias!" the boy exclaimed rather confidently, "I want to use that!" he said pointing at the bow and arrow as he was being dragged away.

"No, ----you--- you're not trained to use it!" he realized he'd been calling the child 'you' this whole time. "You don't really.. have a name, do you?" he asked, even though he did know the answer to that question.

"Nope! I don't..." the bright-eyed boy pouted, but then flashed his dazzling smile once again. "Give me one!"

And the hunter was once again stunned for an answer, stammering as he looked upon the young child, watching the bright tattoo on his left arm--not on his right, shifting like a plain of golden sand. With those pointy ears and strange bright eyes, the other was waiting for an answer eagerly, smiling up at his father in anticipation.

He took a book of legends and browsed the pages with the child, the pair settling on the makeshift couch and settling on a name together.

"Aric, let's go visit a friend now." he said finally, taking the boy's hand as they walked on the sandy shore, Aric leaving a trail of dancing sand in his wake.

It didn't take long for her to spot the dark-haired man approaching her house through the broken window -- though she uttered a short squeak of joy when she saw a dark-skinned blonde child at his side. Is that his? she wondered, but didn't stop to think about it, instead abandoning the broom against the hearth and throwing open her door long before they arrived. "Elias!" she cried out gleefully, running out to greet them despite only wearing a pair of breeches, boots and a soft leather jerkin. She all but pranced over the pale green grass of winter, her cheeks rosy from her excitement and the sudden chill of the air against her skin, her red hair fanning out like a banner behind her.

Tesla was still a young woman, and did the most natural thing she could when faced with a handsome young child: she immediately ran to him and scooped him up in a tight hug, spinning the blonde around and laughing with delight. "You must be the desert wanderer!" she exclaimed, looking over the child's features: not at all like her boy, all soft facial structure, bright and bold colors with intricate designs and jewelry. "Oh Aevah, what a beautiful boy you are!" And again she hugged him, kissing his cheek warmly. "I'm Tesla, I'm your neighbor! What's your name?" Finally settling him back on his own two feet so he could give her an answer without her swinging him around breathlessly, she gave him an affectionate smile, patiently awaiting his introduction.

The boy was impatient, skipping instead of walking that Elias had to pick up his laid-back pace to catch up to the little boy. "Wait---" he chided Aric gently, the sunny blonde's hand still wrapped in his, glancing back with playful sky blue eyes as he refused to slow down, making Elias sigh and give in to his exuberance.

As the Tesla's house came into view he had immediately seeing her run towards the two, Elias' eyes widening in turn. She had picked the boy up from his grasp, Aric letting out a surprised and confused sound as he was picked up easily. Yet the mood of the woman was contagious to him, the blonde showing his pearly whites as he held on to her as they spun, childish laughter echoing as the sand around them lifted and spun with them.

"Ah!" his blue eyes rested on the red-head, mouth open with delight, "Tesla! Hello! I am Aric! I am very pleased to meet you!" he said politely--like Elias had told him to, yet reached up boldly to hold her hand in affection as she spoke. The sand around them spun clumsily, as if the young boy wanted to impress the woman in front of him, pointing at his feats to her so that she could see what he could do.

The man was rather concerned with this. Aric certainly seemed so very harmless and-- pleasant to have around yet the powers unsettled him. "The bottle. Yours?" Elias spoke under his breath and with a curious stare at the two, not wanting to interrupt the child's play but also wanting to know badly if the turn of events had happened to Tesla's as well.

Tesla laughed with Aric, happily curving her fingers around his to hold his hand in turn, instantly charmed. "So polite -- Aric, is it? A fine name!" Squeezing the hand affectionately, she turned her vibrant eyes to Elias, smiling sweetly at him in turn. "Good morning, Elias. Thank you for coming." She wasn't about to forget the Hunter, but again the child pulled her attention, drawing her gaze to the sand at his feet. Resting on her haunches so she was the same height as the child, she extended her free hand to lightly play her fingers over the swirl of sand, letting her eyes grow wide and her lips part with wonder. "Is that you doing that? That's incredible! You're incredible!" And she giggled helplessly with joy at the child, unable to contain her mirth.

Elias' voice prompted her attention to flick upwards to his face, then back to the house with a nod. "The same happened," she confirmed, spotting her new ward easily, pale against the dark wood of the house. "There, he's -- " Standing, still holding Aric's hand, she motioned for the boy to come join them. "Come on then, Nolan! Come meet our neighbors!"

The red-head was uncertain. With his clawed hand against the door frame, he had peered around the wooden piece and watched his caretaker spin the child, though he hadn't any opinion just then. Nolan had initially been eager when he heard new voices - male voices - but as he looked on, he noted that neither of them looked like him. In fact, save for some pointy ears on the child, they both looked much like his Tesla. There was a small bit of disappointment in him, and with it, a small seed of uncertainty: were there any like him, or had he been born into a world he didn't quite fit into...?

And then she was calling him, making his brows furrow over his dark eyes. Glancing back in the house, he decided the outside had more sunlight and thus he followed her word, exiting with only his tailored pants. He didn't quite feel the chill despite all his pale skin exposed, walking towards the two in a measured fashion as though he were gliding; there was no bounce in his step, each curve of his joints and press of his clawed toes made for balance and precision. His spiked tail curved behind him and, to be indicate he meant no threat, he lowered the spikes harmlessly against his scaled body, though his wings spread slightly to assert his territory. Nolan looked to Elias first, finding him strange in appearance, but not unappealing - unlike his woman, who was all bright and vibrant colors, he was darker, his eyes like a storm. Deciding he was okay for the time being, he then looked to Aric, and it was to the latter he stared more intensely.

He was aware of the boy's magic, he could taste it on the air, flicking his long tongue out briefly over his lips. Despite that, there was something oddly...familiar about him. Like a gleaned memory, something distant or repressed, he couldn't quite figure out what it was about the blonde that struck him as more comfortable than the two older humans. Maybe it was because they were obviously not like them...even if Aric wasn't exactly like him, either.

"Say hello," he heard the red-headed woman encourage him softly.

Turning his dark eyes between the three, he again settled his attention primarily on the blonde. "Hello," he murmured softly, his voice vaguely rough around the edges. "She calls me...Nolan."
PostPosted: Mon Jan 23, 2012 8:37 pm

"Not a problem--- is everything alright on your side?" he asked quitely, in awe of the boys talents yet had concern in his eyes. He didn't want anyone else to see these feats no matter how small they were since it could definitely cause much problems to him and especially to Aric. The man pushed those thoughts to the side at first, the excitement of the two rubbing off on him though his feelings were more of worry than anything.

"In your--house---?" When his eyes met Tesla's bright greens and followed her gaze back at her house, also immediately spotting the young boy from a distance and noting that he was definitely so very different from the golden boy that had appeared in his bedroom only hours ago. Aric looked at the two humans thoughtfully, the sand that was once floating falling to the ground lazily, not being able to hold it up for too long. The young blonde had a pout on his face at this little failure but as he lifted his eyes to Tesla and Elias, his expression turned curious as he turned his head to where their attention was.

Aric tilted his head to the side at the approaching stranger-- a smile crossing his features as he realized it was a boy almost the same height as him! He was excited, first he had met his father and now this kind pretty lady with soft lips and now he was to have another friend! The other child moved in closer, Aric's bright blue eyes widening in wonder very much like his guardian's--yet while his guardian's was more of fear and disbelief, his was more of awe and amazement at the appearance of the other, letting go of the lady's hand as the bright orange on his dark skin started to shift in his anxiousness. And he realized it was more than the thrill of meeting a new friend---it was something in his chest that told him this boy felt familiar.

"Hello!" he answered as soon as the boy greeted all of them, wide eyes resting on the darker blues on black. The boy was so different! He couldn't help but inch closer to him, giving him a big smile in reply to his 'introduction'. "My name is Aric! It's nice to meet you----" he said the words with precision yet stopped right in front of Nolan, only a step away from him--perhaps too close for comfort but the blonde didn't really have that sense of space anyway. "Nolan," he said the name carefully, bringing his hands slowly to cup the boy's cheeks, looking at his sharper features yet--feeling more than what could be seen.

"You feel so very familiar." he gave Nolan a bright smile, confirming so. He could see a hazy memory from his mind yet the feeling was strong and clear, as if he had known the boy for a long time.

"Everything is fine," she softly reassured Elias, moving closer to him once Aric went to Nolan. Gently taking his arm, she watched the children, both curious and intrigued by their interactions and behavior. "He's been very quiet. He doesn't...seem to understand human things like names and doing things at certain times during the day, but he's a fast learner." Looking to the man then, she smiled warmly at him, giving him a light nudge with her shoulder. "Are you okay? You look a little harried. Have you eaten?"

The smile that Aric wore was so different from the one his Tesla wore - it was a lot more open, like it had no secrets behind it to make it anything less than honest. Nolan didn't outwardly react to the sudden closeness, either because it didn't bother him or he was simply used to it from the way the human woman had treated him upon arrival; either way, he quietly regarded the sandy male with his brows knitted, trying to make sense of the sense of familiarity. He was certain they'd not met in his short time in Amies, as he hadn't left the kitchen until now. Even so, it was hard to deny the sensation, especially when he heard his 'name' said by the other.

He looked baffled - if not a little startled as Aric's hands found his cheeks, dark eyes wide. Any posture of threat or danger he might have had was gone, his wings fluttering before tucking against his back with uncertainty, only able to let his face be child-handled. "...same," he responded quizzically, now even more confused since Aric was voicing his inner thoughts. Surely they couldn't both be wrong. Lifting his clawed hands slowly, the clawed digits wavered before gently encircling Aric's wrists. He didn't pull the other way or tighten his hold, just looking at the sky-blue eyes with his own seeking some sort of answer.

"...do you think they...they're remembering...?" Tesla asked Elias softly so as to not interrupt, surprise on her features. Were they recalling the night previous? Drawing in a lungful of crisp, cold air, she gave a small shiver while she held Elias' arm, lifting her chin towards the open door of her house. "Why don't we go in? Or..." Hesitating, she looked at Aric's feet and Nolan's seeming comfort outside, far less lethargic and resigned in the natural sun than he'd been in the kitchen. "...or if Elias is okay with it, maybe you can go to the beach just there?" The red-head pointed; just beyond the modest cliff by her house, the white beach yawned into the water, easily visible from the house but safely out of the way of where the adults had to move the heavy furniture.

"I don't mind if you want to play there," she told Nolan, "if you promise not to go in the water and stay on the sand where I can see you." Turning her green eyes to Elias in askance, she wasn't going to give Aric the same permission when it wasn't hers to give.
PostPosted: Mon Jan 23, 2012 9:19 pm

"Yeah...fine." the dark-haired man lifted a brow, still uncertain of the child that came from Tesla's blood bottle. He shifted his stance when he felt the gentle weight on his arm, the woman touching his covered shoulder. "Aric-- Aric doesn't understand yet he accepts everything pretty well." With talking to Tesla he tried to comprehend little by little what they knew, and through her dealings with Nolan he had hoped to know more how to actually care for a child, having no experience whatsoever. "I---I have not. I gave him food but I didn't really have much of an appetite this morning." he admitted, still feeling that tense knot in his stomach as he stared at the two, eyes widening when the blonde stepped closer to the red-headed boy and touched his face. "Aric! Be more careful!" he urged the boy immediately yet did not move towards the two just yet, again remembering the events that were still so fresh in his mind. And now that the blood bottle grew, he couldn't imagine how much more damage it could do if he were to upset it. Yet he kept a disapproving gaze on Nolan, stubbornly staring at the winged boy.

Aric thought that this boy didn't really speak much. Even less so than his father, yet that didn't even deter him the least as he continued to rub the boy's pale cheeks playfully, perhaps trying to find the answer that way yet finding amusement in the action anyway. "Maybe I dreamt of you--maybe we met each other in a dream!" he said excitedly when Nolan had told him he felt the same, chuckling at that thought. The tanned boy let out a curious sound with the claws touching his skin, turning to Elias in a half-pout, not wanting to let go of his new friend at all. Besides, he didn't seem dangerous at all! And Nolan felt so familiar and comfortable, he couldn't be like those dangerous people Elias spoke of earlier today!

Elias wasn't sure if the two children did remember what had happened but he did, and it replayed again and again in his mind. Hence his protective claim on the safety of the golden-haired child--and his. "Perhaps. I cannot tell with these.. two. Oh--uh---" when Tesla suggested they go back in he took a glance at Aric who was still basically playing with the other boy's face, a confused look on his face as he saw how comfortable they were with each other at the moment. "Alright--- that sounds fine. Aric. Take care okay. Shout for me if anything bad happens--I will come there immediately." said very evenly at Aric who already looked so ecstatic about heading off alone.

"Yes! I will! Don't worry too much! Nolan and me will be safe for sure!" He called out confidently and cheerfully, his light eyes landing on the darker ones again. "Come! There's so much to explore here!" with that he let go of the other's face and curled his hand into Nolan's clawed one, flashing him a brilliant smile before pulling his hand to the direction of the beach, leaving a very distressed Elias.

The woman smiled lightly in return to Elias' observations. "He seems like a very bright and able boy -- but ah, Elias! Don't neglect your health now, he needs you!" Giving him a stern look, she released his arm and instead took his hand in both of hers. "I've still some waffle batter left over, I'll make you some with the fruit I have stored. You will eat, Elias Theale, so don't even try to protest." And she gave him one of those maternal stares that said arguing would only land him with more food on his plate. She had grown up with five sisters - he would have a hard time talking her down from anything. To the children, she gave an immediate smile and lifted one hand to wave. "We'll be in the house! I'll call for you when we're ready for lunch!" And not giving Elias time to change his mind, she retook his hand and lead him to her home, excited both for the company and to get things back in place.

---

The idea of meeting in a dream was ridiculous. He hadn't even slept yet! But the notion was also vaguely sweet in a way, and thus the dragon held his tongue, instead keeping his eyes fixed on the blonde and not at all giving Elias time of day. "It's fine," he said to the warning, finding the warmth of Aric's hands there beginning to be alluring and comforting. Before he could think more on it or lean into the mounting warmth, he was released and instead had one of his hands taken, the gesture seeming to be unusual to him. Where Aric had smooth skin and no claws, it almost did seem dangerous for him to just seize him so naturally, but their hands fit safely and he was content with it.

Still baffled, he repressed a small smile and followed the desert sand's lead with little resistance. Nolan was still a little perplexed by the familiarity but he decided not to question it, soaking in Aric's friendliness that was every bit as warm as his touch. He was silent until his claws first sank into the sand, leaving small divots in his wake. "...what are you?" he asked abruptly, spreading his wings and using his weight to let his heels dig into the sand, trying to stop his eager neighbor. Nolan's dark eyes looked over the blonde, trying to make sense of what was going on. Tesla had fainted when she first saw him and Elias looked at him like a plague -- why was this boy any different?
PostPosted: Mon Jan 23, 2012 9:57 pm

He couldn't hear the sounds of the pretty lady anymore or the stern tone of his worrying human, the boy sliding his feet on the sand, he soles of his feet pushing into the soft grains as if he were walking on air. Aric felt free, as if he was stuck in once place for so long and itching to get out. And now the world was open to him, the endless sky, the horizon that went on forever and the infinite sand on his feet. He took the boy with him on this little sprint, all to eager as he held on tightly to the scaled hand, not bothered by the least.

He was bothered however when he felt the other exert force against his swift walking, head turning in confusion at the child he had just met. "Wha---?" and then he stopped in his tracks upon hearing the question. "What am I?" he repeated, unsure of the question but more uncertain of the answer, at a loss for words. Even his first morning in this place it was said very clearly to him by Elias that he was different. Elias didn't have pointy ears like him nor did he have the swirls like Aric's body that shifted every minute. Aric had never questioned that yet looking at the red-head in front of him he think he knew the answer.

"I--- am like you!" he said with a smile, swinging his arm with their hands united. "We are like them but. You're different, just like me." And that was his simple, childish answer. The sunny blonde satisfied with himself and just content in knowing that he felt Nolan was so familiar, so alike him. Of course he did know that Nolan looked very different but those wings, scales, eyes--it very much was amazing in his eyes. And on top of that, he really didn't care much about the bigger picture, only focusing on what was happening right now--and they had this whole place to explore. Aric looked into the deep blues expectantly as the sand around them started to spin weakly, gently, his excitement of meeting the boy apparent. "I'm happy I'm not alone." he said in a sincere voice, squeezing the rough hands with his soft ones.

The uncertainty on Aric's face made his heart sink a little. He hadn't meant to upset his new friend, and it was clear by the hesitation and the way he was being looked at that he didn't have an answer anymore than he himself did. Offering no resistance as his arm was swung, he cocked his head to the side and again looked at the other: all bold colors and exotic appearance, but in a passable way, not in a...a monstrous way like him. Even so, Aric held his hand and told him they were the same, and that he was...he was happy...?

Nolan blinked his dark eyes, looking over the golden child like what Aric was had just been revealed to him in full: a treasure, a twinkle of gold and spotted with gems, the likes of which greatly appealed to the reptilian boy. Curving his tail in the shape of a question mark for a few heartbeats, he then offered up his first real smile to Aric, the likes of which highlighted his high cheekbones and sallow cheeks. "Like you," he echoed, even if he didn't completely believe the sentiment - Aric being a gem and he the collector - but he was content with it for the time being. "I am...relieved." And at that, a faint sound escaped him that was suspiciously like a chuckle. "I thought...maybe, I looked too different."

He was overly sensitive to their differences, closing the distance between them to lightly draw his clawed fingers through Aric's hair where horns might have been before gently tracing against the blonde's shoulder where he might have had scales. Where his own appearance was absent in Aric, he found that for the moment, it was okay. If Aric accepted him...who was he to question that? Mindful when he squeezed the other's hand in turn, he looked around the immediate area. "What do we do here?" he queried, curious to feel the water but not enough to go against Tesla's rules just yet.
PostPosted: Tue Jan 24, 2012 10:18 am

When Nolan's lips curved up into a smile, the boy brightened up immensely as if he had just discovered a well-kept secret and having it all to himself. And he loved that feeling.

"Yes!" he confirmed at the repeated word. Looking at the red-headed buy with wide, curious eyes as he actually talked more! Aric's chest soaring as he heard the deeper voice much more, that was good. For Aric it meant that the boy liked him and wanted to be his friend! The blonde followed the boy's weak laugh with a louder more enthusiastic chuckle. "What? No! Those wings are amazing! Can you fly? Or maybe---" his voice trailed away when Nolan inched even closer, the child unmoving from his spot as he felt the light touches of fingertips and claws to his darker skin, eyes focused up on the deep blues. He smiled gently at Nolan, tilting his head to the side, ticklish with the brief touches to his neck and shoulder, bright orange swirls shifting in quiet excitement.

When he held Elias' hand he did notice a sense of comfort in it, he attributed that to the fact that this man was his father or 'guardian' as Elias would say. Elias told him that he had taken care of him when he was a little bottle hence he was to be at his side from now on. So Aric couldn't figure out why this reptilian boy that he had just met (as far as he could remember) felt much more familiar to him than his own guardian. Perhaps it was because they were alike? Maybe it was the magic that he could sense that was around them. The boy only thought of this for a moment before he realized the question directed at him, looking down on the ground before remembering his excitement about their destination.

"Ahh! When I was walking around with Elias I saw a nice spot with many seashells where the water also is!" Of course this boy was rather forgetful of the rules that were imposed on them, having a one-track mind when it came to something he wanted to do. "I am sure we will be safe, don't worry!" he exclaimed determinedly, flashing another brilliant smile.

The dragon shook his head slightly at the excited questions, belated in response but social etiquette was a bit beyond him. Stretching his small but no less lethal wings, Nolan readjusted his clawed hand held so assuredly in Aric's own, answering, "I can't fly yet. But I will!" Though he'd not yet tried to fly and had no idea of how he'd progress in his humanoid form, he was very self-assured in his response. He may have been a child and rather newly born at that, but he was not oblivious to his own limitations. Of all the strange things surrounding his 'birth' and the world he was a part of, he was comfortable in his own unique skin.

Offering Aric an upward curve of a single brow, Nolan found himself smiling just a bit again. Him? Worried about what was safe? That wasn't really in his make-up, but he was charmed that Aric was looking out for him. "Do seashells make a place nicer?" he inquired by means of continuing a conversation that wasn't as heavy-handed as their first, closing their distance to stand at the sand-child's side. Nolan was still keenly aware of their differences, but with his mentality comfortably settling in the notion that the blonde was the first and most important part of his hoard, he wasn't as uncomfortable over it. Curving his clawed toes into the sand, he drew a length of line in the bright grains with the sharp tips. "...and why is your sand so much...prettier than this stuff?" he murmured, more to himself than Aric, subconsciously already differentiating the desert ward from the beach.
PostPosted: Tue May 01, 2012 1:00 pm

The boy let out a chuckle at the confident response, rather excited at the notion that his friend could fly one day even though he knew that did not have the necessary appendages for it. "One day! Maybe I can come too!" he said with a hopeful stare, not really sure how that would work yet that didn't faze the child. Perhaps the other could teach him--yet that was a thought for another day. Aric was already quite excited at the notion of having a friend--and such an interesting one at that!

Once again he found himself gazing at Nolan with a content smile on his face, watching his expression with interest as the dragon child's lips curved upwards, somehow making him feel that he had claimed a small victory. "Hm?" Aric glanced at the brilliant seashells that were scattered along the shore. "They make it look nicer, I like them." Turning back to Nolan he noticed the boy closer, having to tilt up his head a little bit to meet the darker blues. He lifted up his free hand to reveal a seashell that hung around his wrist to prove his point. The next question made Aric pause for a second, unsure of how to answer, glancing back at his side to see his own sand entwining with the one that belonged to the land. The dust didn't even notice it much, because to him, everything around him at the moment felt familiar and comfortable, nothing felt strange and foreign. His sand was indeed more golden, sparkling brighter as the sun hit it, the notion making the boy rather proud. "I'm not sure--" he paused, turning back to Nolan with a tilt of the head. "It's just part of me--that's all I know. But everything here feels very comfortable." And with that he squeezed Nolan's hand and gave him a gentle smile.

Not only was Aric comfortable in claiming the dragon as his own, but it seemed the desert youth was already planning a future, one that included flying with him. Nolan felt a great deal of mixed feelings: pride, confidence and a smidgen of confusion. "I'll take you," he responded in a slightly bewildered manner, trailing after Aric with fingers still laced. He personally found the sand odd to walk in but since it was a part of his new friend, he wouldn't say anything about it that was untoward just yet, especially when he was complimenting him and warming his already substantial sense of self-worth. Squeezing the hand again, he was content with his company, and thus became more aware of their surroundings.

His attention turned towards the lapping waves, still out of reach but still acutely aware of it. The frothy pull of water brought more seashells with its subdued crash and took some with its retreat, and curious to the bounty laid out before them, the dragon began to tug their held hands towards the water. "There's a lot there," he commented, referring to the aforementioned shells. Nolan stopped moving, however, when his clawed toes sunk even further into the sand than before. It was wet here, and didn't seem very forgiving towards his weight with sharp points to sink into the mucky hold. He wasn't one to be stopped by such things, however, and with great care, he lifted his feet higher than was normal, giving him a sort of strange waddle as he stretched his toes and arched his claws so it was the bottom of his feet that connected with the wet sand. It seemed to work, and light-of-foot as he was, he was able to walk with a little less resistance.

Sweeping his tail downwards, he curved the tip into a small unicorn shell, lifting it and extending his free hand to pluck his treasure off his scales. "So colorful," he marveled, turning the beige colored shell over in his hand, tracing his thumb over the burnt orange embellishment that ribboned along the alternating length, "but what now?" Nolan certainly had more questions than answers just then, picking up another shell with his tail and squinting at it with scrutiny. What purpose did they serve? Were they baubles? And most importantly, what did Aric want with them?
