It's based off of Delirium by Lauren Oliver, in which love is a disease but with none of the characters from the actual book. It's a spinoff, of sorts.
Instead of following Lena Haloway's experience, it's about ten characters that have failed procedures and their experiences. Five of them are girls, five of them boys and they all start off paired [couples are first come, first serve] but they don't know anything about the person. Then, it's just about how they lead their lives while pretending to be cured and they have three choices: lie and stay in Portland, run to the Wilds or keep trying the procedures.
You don't have to stay in the pairing, if your plot progresses enough, you can run away with someone else's lover. Or be single.
Personally, it's better if you haven't read the book - it's much more interesting.
