Tarma wandered away from the herd she had temporarily sheltered with, not paying attention to where she went. She was used to being on her own.. they had talked her into staying with them for protection at night. She had finally consented because well.. she was still just a foal after all.

She thought about the events that happened the other night.. with the strange stallion that had cornered her and had wanted to.. talk? She was still unsure. Members of the herd had been unwilling to give her any information about this "Six" he had spoken of. She snorted in contempt at the thought of them. Fools. The whole lot of them. Too frightened of their own shadows to even speak aloud of certain things. Except that unicorn... he was the only brave one in the lot.

Thoughts jumbling together, she continued onwards, with the sun warming her back as she walked.

His mission had been somewhat successful. He'd found a few foals for the Six, and had himself a snack. Bargest ran his tongue over his teeth. There was just one unfinished business that delayed him from returning. He'd felt a spark of something from that one foal the idiot unicorn had saved.

Now he swung back around by the herd to see if he could spot her. The fact she had no parents, and her spunk amused the dark, striped male. Weaving lightly through the trees he caught a faint scent and stopped. Was it? Bargest looked around hopefully for another chance at the foal.

Tarma sighed to herself as she continued to wander through the grassy field. Where was she going anyways? She needed some direction in her life, but the Azrien she had met so far sparked no interest.

She heard birds cry out suddenly and watched them fly quickly away from one area. Frowning, she turned towards the forest edge they had burst from and wondered what had frightened them. Curiously, she began to move in that direction, hoping to find something interesting.

Bargest was delighted as he spotted the foal coming toward him. No one else seemed to notice the birds he'd scared. Annoying things. One snap was all it took. He timed it just right to step into sight several well distanced trees away from the foal. Bargest didn't say anything at first, just watched her. He gave her an ironic grin and a small dip of his head.

"Well met again little one."

As she grew closer to the trees, she noticed the lack of sound. So.. not only the birds were scared away, but critters in general. She paused, ears flattened to her skull, and wondered what could be lurking in the forest to scare everything so much.

Just as she was deciding to turn around and go back, she caught a familiar scent, though she was having a little difficulty placing it. Stretching her neck out and taking a few tentative steps closer, she thought she did recognize it as the strange stallion from the other night. She pricked her ears forward but still did not hear any sounds coming from the forest.

Suddenly, he appeared in front of her and spoke, not in a menacing or threatening way, which set her curiosity off again. Just who was this weirdo and what did he want? Again, her instinct to run warred with her curiousity, which won.

Stepping forward, she glared at him and said boldly, "Just who are you anyways?"

Bargest couldn't help but rumble in his form of a laugh. She would be an excellent addition if he could convince her. "My name is Bargest. But I'm sure you've more questions than just that don't you?" He looked around. All he needed now was another meddling idiot.

"What say you if we take a small walk? Just to where no one will bother us." He grinned down at her.

She eyed him warily. He was definitely creepier in the daylight, now that she could actually see him. He had large paws instead of hooves, long horns, and razor sharp teeth. She stared at those long, pointy teeth, wondering if he was trying to lure her away just to eat her... bu then again, he had a chance the other night.. and he could have easily overtaken her now if he chose. Not like there were any witnesses or anything. Something about him kept her interested... and she wanted to know what he meant about the Six and parents keeping things from her..(not that she had any).

She narrowed her eyes and pinned her ears to her skull as she pondered, then slowly nodded. "Ok. A walk. And you'll answer my questions?" she said as she looked up at him. "And you're not going to eat me or anything, right?"

Bargest felt her eyes upon him. He reveled in being the bigger and badder one. While she might be wary, if not scared, she didn't show it much or try to run away. The stallion felt his hunch about her was strengthened. She could make a very evil azrein if she chose.

"Yes," he answered simply. If she had questions then there was a seed there he could work on. "Well now. That depends." His eyes glinted. "I'm looking for strong foals to would do better away from these fools. It would be counter productive to eat one I should recruit now wouldn't it? Thus it depends upon if your a strong foal or not." He gave her an appraising look over then nodded.

"You don't run, and you're willing to talk to me. That says you may indeed be worthy." He turned his head away from the foal and headed further away from that annoying herd. He listened for the sounds of her following him. This would be the real test. Did she trust him enough to leave what little safety she'd know, and burn to have her questions answered?

She snorted and stamped a hoof. "I am strong!" she said forcefully. "Nothing like those soft, foolish adults who huddle together afraid of their shadows!" She didn't know why she felt the need to prove herself to him.. she still didn't know anything about him, or his intentions.. but she didn't want to be categorized with those idiots.

She wondered what he implied when he said she might be worthy. Worthy of what? Curiosity was eating her alive. Creepy as he was, he really didn't seem like he was going to attack or eat her anytime soon, and she was almost positive she could outrun him if she had to. She was light and speedy after all.

She hesitated for only a moment as he turned and walked away, then followed to see what he had to say.

Bargest hid his chuckle. As with all young things she leaped before she looked. That was perfectly fine with him. If she could land on her feet and keep going she was exactly the kind of filly he wanted to bring back.

He was very pleased when she followed him. Good. There was less chance those confounding idiots would bother them now. Bargest moved deeper into the woods. His paws hardly making a sound, and his stripped coat merged well with the dappled light and shadows.

Finally he stopped by a barest pool of water. It was barely big enough for him to put both front feet into and only a couple inches deep. He turned to see if the filly was still behind him.

She glanced around at the forest scenery as she followed him through the trees. She marveled at how quietly he walked, even as her own little hooves crunched through the dead leaves and broken branches on the ground.

She watched as he stopped by a pool of water and looked back at her. She tilted her head questiongly at him and drew up next to him so she was also standing in front of the little pool.

Bargest inclined his head toward the pool. "Drink if you are thirsty, and I will answer your questions now." He settled himself down a couple paces away since the clearing wasn't very big.

She stepped forward and bent to take a quick drink from the pool, noticing that he lay down and settled himself as she did so. She raised her head and eyed him, curiosity eating her alive, then addressed him from where she stood. She wasn't ready to settle in quite just yet.

"So tell me.. what is this Six that you keep talking about?"
PostPosted: Thu Mar 15, 2012 6:45 pm

He regarded her for a moment. "The Six are not a what, but a who. They feel azrein, such as you and me, should be able to live our lives free. Not bound and slaved to some human. Those weak or deluded azrein call humans their friends, but it's not so. They like to be pampered in turn for hauling the humans or their burdens. Forgetting their proud azrein roots. We are trying to make them remember."

Her ears pricked forward as she listened intently. "So.. are all humans like that?" she asked curiously. She had lived with Kaz for a little while, but had never fully trusted her, as humans were in general, not to be trusted. Her adopted sister Irri had tried to convince her otherwise, but she still doubted. True, the human had provided her with food and shelter if she needed it.. and had never shown bad intentions.. but still Tarma just couldn't bring herself to open her heart to her.
