Cosine stood before the doors of the library and smiled. It was one of her favourite places in the Pantheon, aside from her home of course. It brought back ghosts of memories, at least she thought they were memories, they could just as easily be figments of her imagination. Halls of books, her place among them, making records. Now, after her rebirth, all the time she had spent wandering among others, enjoying the world outside. She could not imagine ever wanting to be stuck in the depths day in day out. Still, she enjoyed visiting, the silence and peace. It was a very, very good place to think and plan. As she moved forward, through the doors she traced her fingers over the beautiful wood. Such craftsmanship, definitely fit for the gods. “Hello?” she called out as she entered the first large hall. Her voice echoed off the vaulted ceiling and around the shelves. “Endiovar?” She hoped that if he was within the building he would hear her. It would take weeks to search one person out amongst the aisles.

There was indeed someone in the library - someone easy to find, but not exactly the person Cosine had been looking for.
But yet, there he was, partly obscured by a very imposing pile of books - Music's youngest, tongue sticking out a bit and brows furrowed in concentration as he was writing, peeking up from his work to refer to a rather worn and nearly faded book before returning to his work.
Rather than composing, it looked like Lament was transcribing. Cosine could have probably barged in with a parade announcing her presence, and yet the boy would probably have noticed none of it.

Cosine's entrance went unnoticed by a great many different people; the entire Library was fair-to-buzzing with activity. Akakios set up at a large station and desk near the front...various other places similarly set up in various other places...but even though Cosine had just stepped in and many projects were clearly in progress (noisily so, for some of them), it didn't take long for Endiovar to come forward to greet the visiting Goddess.
"Hello, you were seeking me?" The pale-skinned God of Silence smiled at Cosine and graciously dipped his head. 'What is it I can do for you, my Lady.' Ever the gallant, Endiovar couldn't help himself despite their like stations in the mana-game. His jade-green eyes caught Cosine and then slid over to where Kios busily worked. "Akakios, come and say hello to our visitor."

Cosine was certainly surprised to see the library so busy. When she had entered before it had been empty and rather full of dust. This was good, very good. Her green eyes took in the different activities and moved to the god that came to greet her. "Yes." She returned his smile and her eyes lit up at the mention of Akakios. Smiling she glanced in the direction Endiovar had looked and smiled more at the sight of her honourary nephew. "I am Cosine, goddess of number. I heard that you were working to restore the library and wanted to offer some help. I had some plans with Gianfar to work on a catalogue, though I hear he has gone missing?"

At first, the boy remained focused on his task. It was when he was finally addressed directly that he finally looked up, and realized he wasn't quite alone anymore.
Far from it.
"Aunt Cosine !" He was quick to forget about his work then, rose from his seat and ran the distance to hug her - standing a few inches taller than last time. "You're different !" Like Endiovar was. One day Silence had been just as he'd known him, and the next he wasn't. That has been the first time someone he knew had changed, and he'd been a little confused at first, but explainations had set everything right.

The hustle and bustle of mortal and immortal alike working diligently to fix and clean the library was a very pleasant sort of noise, and as one of Endiovar's own encouragement...well, he didn't find it bothersome at all really. Once in a while he had to escape if there were too many voices or sounds, but for Knowledge he would have suffered much, much more.
"Your aid would be most appreciated, Lady Cosine. We definitely need the remaining tomes and scrolls catalouged." His expression clouded briefly as she reminded Endiovar that ond of his mates was missing with no word as to where he was nor how long he would be away. 'Indeed. I am afraid Gianfar has fallen deeply into research and dissappeared on us. I'm sure he will be back eventually...that is why Revei and I started this project.'
If she looked through the library, she would notice that much was missing...but also that they had been able to save quite a bit - more than Endi had hoped when he'd first taken stock of the damage done by Gehenna's Weeks. "We have been working very hard and are nearing the completion of this project...but it will take ages for Gianfar to refill the library with what has been lost. Sadly, we have only been able to do so much." Rebuilding, rewriting. Magic and elbow grease. Immortal mana and mortal sweat. All this combined to the effort and Cosine's help would be just the finishing touch needed!

Her face lit up as her 'nephew' came charging over to greet her. She hugged him back, he had grown as Echo had said. "Kios, it's good to see you. I have changed, and you have grown a bit since I saw you last. You've been busy here?"
As Endiovar spoke Cosine took a moment to look around at the work that had been done. She could see the empty spaces left by those that could not be rescued. it was sad to think of the extent of the damage that had been done in such a relatively short time. "I am sorry it has taken me so long to offer my help." She had visited the library a few times but had not realised that the few people she came across were restoring it. "Do you have a catalogue of the work you have done so far? So I know where to start. I could attribute a numerical system. Much like mortal libraries. We had talked of a computer database. Well, my host had suggested it actually. Though the parts might be difficult to come by after decay."

"Yes, we've been busy !" All pride, really, at his own handiwork in what now stood around them. He'd spent to many time transcribing, and shelving what he could actually reach. Hours upon hours upon hours, so many that he'd lost count.
Maybe Cosine would know ? Hmmm.
Then, wide eyes did blink. "...What's a computer ?"
Good job, Cosine. She'd just kickstarted Akakios, and it was likely neither deities would find an end to the questions anytime soon.

'Do not feel badly, Lady Cosine. We have had a great deal of aid throughout. Having the Library renewed...as much as we have been able to is far more a labor of love than a task.' All true, besides - there was absolutely no reason for Cosine to think that her potential contribution of aid would be any less appreciated (or useful) at this stage of the renovations.
Akakios' voice chimed in as soon as the Goddess of Numbers spoke of a computer database. Endiovar knew of computers and databases due to his host having been fairly contemporary; there was even a now-defunct laptop somewhere in his rooms: a relic from the days when Colin was a student...a dancer...and lover to Illario Teska. A wistful expression came over Silence's face briefly, but then he focused back on his current companions - the past belonged in the past, after all.
"Computers are - were - techonological machines that mortals used for work, play and social interactions with others from around the worlds. At least, that's my understanding." Endiovar chuckled softly, his wings fluttering. 'I actually have my host's old laptop computer in my rooms. It no longer works, of course, but it wasn't completely ruined. You can come and inspect it sometime, if you would like, but it is really just a...lap-sized paper wieght now.'

"Oh, that may well be some use." Though perhaps she was getting a little out of her depth. Though numbers spoke to her she would have to find someone who could transfer them to computer and to fix the computer. She would take it to Jessica. "I will help you in any way I can. My aoide are able to write, they can come and help you if you need more bodies."

"Oh." Akakios' head tilted to the side in a way that could hardly be seen as anything but adorable. "That's... strange." Really. Just strange. It was just nearly impossible for him to imagine such a thing, as he had never been anywhere close to a computer. Nergal could not be considered anything but old-fashioned, and his mother was only just a bit better, in spite of her host's influence.
As far as Lament was concerned, Endiovar and Cosine might as well have been talking about some mythical, sparkling unicorn.
"Can I see it ?" And, of course, Akakios did what he did best - being curious. At Cosine's question, he looked up to the pale god at his side. "I dunno... How far along are we ?"
He certainly had not been keeping track !

Akakios' adorable reactions to learning about new things; things that he wouldn't be exposed to for a long time, perhaps never - gave Endiovar a strangely warm feeling. This child that was so dear to his heart might never know of such things. It all depended on how things unfolded - there was no way of knowing if the mortals would try to bring back social technology like computers, the internet.
"Of course you may see it. I would be happy to take you both, if you would like." He had read Cosine's uncertainty about working the broken laptop - but she did seem to know someone (or something, he wasn't certain - nothing was so clear as that for him to read) that might be able to work with it; if they went now to see the laptop, Akakios could get an eyeful and Cosine could take Colin's relic with her.
How far along were they? Nearly done, if his calculations were correct - and yet, they could still use more bodies to write. They had a few hundred tomes that had yet to be rewritten from their crumbling pages; items that were yet being held together only by magic. 'Nearly done, Kios. You really helped a lot with copying the books.' Endiovar smiled and ruffled the child's silky hair before looking back to Cosine, 'If they can write, we have one section that remains uncopied. We would greatly appreciate the help.'

"I will direct them to the library when I return to my rooms." They would enjoy the task she was very sure of that. "I would very much like to see this computer, perhaps take it off your hands if you wouldn't mind." Like Kios its existance intrigued her. She had these numbers, this programme in her head. To see it turned into an actual useful thing would be very interesting indeed.

"That's a good thing." The boy nodded. Through what would he do when they were gone ? He certainly had no idea. Children rarely thought too far ahead - and Lament was no exception.
Akakios frowned a bit when his hair was ruffled, and then busied himself doing his best to resettle his hair to his own liking. This was rather commonplace, really.
For now, there were more exciting and important things - like this strange 'computer' thing Endiovar and Cosine kept talking about. Even if it was useless, he so badly wanted to see it !

"Truly, I don't believe it will work...none of the technology of old seems able to function now, but there is no harm in checking or trying." 'It would seem likely, from what we know of Gehenna's effects, that we will be using a paper-based system for a good long while.' He couldn't help but switch from one way of speech to the other; it happened smoothly and with no pause or jump - as fluid as any normal speech-pattern in another.
Endiovar nodded gratefully to Cosine for her generous offer of aid in finishing up the last bits of the Library's restoration (as it were - without Knowledge or a proper Librarian...or someone to build/rebuild the various magical artifacts that once held places within, it would never really be restored). "Come, I shall take you to see my host's old laptop."
The God of Silence lead the way from the Library and towards the doors with the swan crest; the trip was neither long nor short but it gave the trio a chance to speak in platitudes and meaningless pleasantries about how All That Is was healing, or about how it was good to feel mana once more thrumming through Creation. Once in his rooms, Endiovar bade a bat-winged Aoide to bring a battered-looking laptop to him; it had Star-Trek symbols and stickers upon it - saved only because Endiovar had willed it to be so.
The machine did not turn on when it was opened, nor when the small power button was pressed. There was no electricity to fuel it's long-emptied battery cells...the screen remained dark, but intact. "As you can see, it does not function now, but it is whole." He offered it to Cosine and Akakios for a more detailed inspection of it's outer shell; they could not see the inner workings without cracking it open, but they likely weren't going to be doing that right then!
