I found this very confusing: So far in my Dragon age 2 as male Hawke, I know that you can ROmance Anders, Merrill, Fenris, and Isabella, since they all have those 'heart' options, but I've also seen them for Aveline, but I could have sworn she wasn't someone you can gain interest from. What gives?

I actually went through as the male hawk for aveline, and yeah it ends badly either way... no real happy ending just friendship.

Yeah, she ditches you for Donnic no matter what.
I think Varric has a heart option or two, but he just gracefully turns you down too.
Gotta make it fair for Anders and Fenris I guess.

Shame you couldn't romance Varric. I mean, he charmed me as soon as he said to come meet him in the Hanged Man later.

Then i met Fenris...

I could never see Varric as a romance character, ever. He's more like the guy you want to know has got your back at all times, but having a 'relationship' would be out of the question.

And before you say anything, a female friend of mine agrees.

No way! Out of the three, I would definitely go out with Varric. XD He's funny, charming, exciting, and not nearly as self-absorbed as the other two. He'd also be really handsome if he were a real person I think. Hands-down winner.
Guys like Fenris are bad news irl. Intentionally or no, they're emotionally abusive and exhausting. And Anders is controlling and manipulative- two things I despise in men.
I don't know why Bioware thinks stability is a bad thing. XD

XD Remind me, are you pro or anti Fenris?
No, but Fenris is a good character in the game. Real guys like Fenris, guys that are that broken and untrusting are not so great. Your pour so much effort into them and end up ignored because they simply can't reciprocate that affection and your only reward is being able to consider any time you aren't shouted at or shut out a small victory. It's no one's fault, but it's exhausting. And you can't turn off the game or leave them in the mansion! XD
The best thing to do with a guy that damaged is to help him without getting too attached and not make a move until he's able to care for you.
I guess it's possible to find a guy like Fenris, who cares for you immensely despite his flaws. But more often you end up with guys like Sweeney Todd, who ignores you and take advantage of your feelings.

Why Varric isn't a romance option...
Varric = Perfectly stable, mentally adaptive charmer.
Stable = Boring.
Nontheless...I would totally be up on that if I could. xD

BI they should have given the option for people to be Dwarves, Elves, or Humans like in the first one. ;D If they did that I'm sure Varric would have been a love interest.

D: Stable isn't boring. Stable is the only thing worth all that trouble. XD
Ugh, at this point in my life all I want in a guy is someone who is emotionally stable and respects me. Great sense of humor and charm are just a bonus.
I would drop those other guys in a second for a guy like that. Not just Anders and Fenris either, Alistair and Zevran too.
Alistair is too perfect and it creeps me out a little.

Hmm, okay so now that I've inadvertently pissed off every fangirl ever, I'll go find a good place to hide. XD

I just think all characters should be bi-sexual. Haha so there are no limitations. I would give my right foot to be able to have a gay realtionship with Alistair. He is definitely one of my favorite. I guess I'm just a sucker for that nonchalant, painfully sarcastic and comical attitude.

I understand the want for everyone to bi-sexual so everyone can have a chance with the characters they like but in all honesty that wouldn't be very realistic. As much as yes it's a video game and stuff but at times they do attempt to put some realism into the games. If they were to make every romancable character in every single game they create a bi-sexual ... it wouldn't be all that realistic haha.
