Hobbies: Training – Theo may look like he's fifty but he has the health and body of a younger man. After his years in the military keeping healthy habits and staying on a disciplined training routine is second nature to him. Along with strength and aerobic training four times a week, Theo eats healthy and keeps an active life style. He does all his work outs at home, not liking gyms because of all the people that are usually there.
Learning new things – Beyond just keeping his body in good physical shape Theo keeps his mind spry as well. He picks up a new hobby every few months or so once he gets a handle on the previous one. The challenges of a new hobby keep him sharp and on his toes, and it takes up his free time which is invaluable. He's tried hobbies as unconventional as knitting or pottery, but he's also tried stereotypical manly things like hunting and carpentry. The one hobby he picked up that stuck with him over the years is breeding dogs, more specifically Basset Hounds.
Basset Hounds – Theo's Basset Hounds are his pride and joy. He started keeping them when he picked up dog breeding as a hobby. After the first litter of puppies were born he realized that it was a very expensive hobby to do it correctly, so the breeding was dropped. But the love for the dogs he had been raising remained. Ever since then he decided to keep Basset Hounds as pets, keeping several at a time. Luckily he has the room to keep them since he lives in a rural area of Destiny City with a decent amount of land and a cozy house.
Virtues: Assiduous – When Teddy starts work on something he goes at it with everything he has. He does a job right and if possible always finishes his work. He's not one to slack off or do things half assed and he thinks anyone who does is just plain lazy. Even when he gets in over his head and has no idea what he's doing he still gives it his all and does the best he possibly can.
Integrity – Theo's an extremely honest man, refusing to lie, cheat, or steal. He doesn't undercut other people, or step on people to get ahead. Of course no one's perfect and that includes Teddy. There have been times he's been sorely tempted to take the easy way, or accept an extremely large bribe while on the job. He's generally able to resist the temptation, and is extremely hard on himself afterward for his moment of weakness.
Stable – Not only does Teddy have a strong body, but he has an extremely sound mind. He didn't come back from the military with PTSD or anything else extreme. Not to say he didn't see horrible things, but he was able to process the horrible and survive it. He also has a very stable, even personality. He doesn't have erratic wild mood swings, or unexplainable emotions. Some people would call it predictable, but Theo calls it being normal.
Flaws: Surly – Teddy's not a happy ray of sunshine. Most of the time he's unpleasant and not all that much fun to be around. Really he's a pain in the a** and if he wasn't such a hard worker and good at what he does no one would put up with him. He doesn't go out of his way to be a grouch, it's just in his nature, unfortunately it tends to deter him from making friends but he doesn't seem to mind.
Tactless – Teddy doesn't think about other people's feelings. He says what he thinks without stopping to consider whether or not that would upset someone. This habit has lead to some awkward moments and also some violent ones when he's said the wrong thing at the wrong time. No one wants to hear that their kid is ugly after all.
Disenchanted – Theo is a pessimist. His glass isn't even half full, it's basically empty. He's been around the block once or twice and he knows that the world sucks, and that there's nothing anyone can do about it. He focuses heavily on reality, not bothering with hopes and dreams, or any of that fairy tale ending crap. He's not one to make wishes, or cross his fingers and hope things go well. The only way to get anything in the world is to work hard for it, and that's what Teddy does.
