 Survey Mission 3AArticle Headline: "Haunted" house leaves three dead. * D class difficulty level (you can run this mission solo or with a group/team) *Article contents: Three teenagers were last seen exploring a "haunted" house close to an abandoned asylum. All of them are reported as missing, there has been no trace of their bodies or remains of their bodies nearby. MECHANICS * MECHANICS: RP assembling a team, as necessary, before heading towards the Lighthouse portal to request a portal to Survey Mission 3A. Once there, roll a 100-sided dice and match the roleplay to the results below, as well as any reactions. Each player must roll at least three times with rped reactions. Once they have "collected enough information", they can return back and submit a report in this thread. 1- 20: The "house", which is really a shack, is patrolled by police. You are stalled as you look around, having to hide a bit as you don't really want to get spotted/caught. 21 - 40: You notice the windows have been shattered, all of the windows even. There seems to be a strange black ichor around the windows. 41 - 60: The inside of the shack is nothing ordinary, it is just really, a single room. You can't help but notice however, that outside the windows, you can see the looming outline of the old white asylum building, though it has been closed down, it seems ominous. 61 - 80: There are grave markers scattered outside the shack, closer towards the asylum. Each grave marker has no name on it. 81- 100: Something catches your eyes for a second - you look towards the abandoned asylum further in the distance, and for a second you swear you can see someone, or something, standing there... * 2 mission reward points for completing this successfully

Bix needed to get out of his duldrums and he immediately went looking for mission postings. Getting off of the island was extra incentive. He pulled out his phone and looked through the contacts. As much as he loved his bros, he hadn't done anything one-on-one with his sis in a while. Cass's phone lit up with a simple message. demon_pachabel Wanna get outta here for a bit? Lighthouse Portal. When she arrived she would find the albino hunter waiting against a wall. He was clearly trying to look cool but all he was doing was a cheesy pose while he watched a cute Mist hunter working on the machinery.

Cass had been doing some reading on the creatures of the night when her phone sprung to life next to her. She watched it for a moment, before she picked it up, not wanting to look too..anxious to get out and about, as it was. It was a message from Bix.
She actually found that unusual because normally she was the one shipping out the calls for him to get over here and hang with her. Still, it was a pleasant surprise, she figured as she sent a message back.iloveyouDIE Be there in a bit, gotta toss the laundry for clean socks.
But they'd been easy enough to find, and they made having to put shoes on much nicer than having dirty and very..questionable socks on that made you just feel gross all over. It was a psychological thing, man.
Still, when she'd arrived at the Lighthouse, she looked at Bix, then at the Mist Hunter who was on duty, then at Bix again.
"You're kind of doing that Mr Bean thing again, bro." she laughed, patting him on the shoulder. "Need to play it all..suave like. I'll turn you into a serious faced lady killer yet.... unless you're still...with Julie?"
It was her fault, but that dramatic soulmate smooch was just.... it would never get out of her brain.

"This is suave." Bix said, deadpan serious. But he did hop up guiltily when she caught him. He headed towards the portal and nodded to the other hunters that they were ready to go. He wasn't sure where exactly, it hadn't been specific.
"I'm not sure I was with Julie per say." Bix turned pink and fiddled with his braid. "She doesn't even call me the right name." He chuckled. He'd been very under the influence when everything happened and some of it was vivid and a lot of it was fuzzy.
"Going to a house near some asylum. Teenagers disappeared. Feeling investigative?" The portal lit up and he stepped through.

"True. You're too handsome for her anyways." Cass grinned, punching his shoulder playfully. Yeah, everything that had happened around Christmas had been...questionable, really. Very, super, questionable. She had lots of memories of everything going to hell around then, though not all around. It had been interesting overall.
Still, she nearly paused on the other side of the portal as Bix stepped through it.
"...House near some asylum....." her voice was deadpan, and everything in her was saying '********' as she had to will herself through the portal to the other side to join the older trainee.
However, once on the other side, she seemed extra twitchy, looking at the area with a certain new agitation that she didn't normally possess.
"Okay, is this place haunted? Have you brought me somewhere haunted, Bix?"

"No!" He instantly jumped to the defensive on the other side of the portal. It was night time and the 'house' seemed to be nothing but a shack. "It's.. a haunted SHACK."
The albino hunter paused outside the door but there was nothing. Just crickets.
"It's probably not even anything. There was no evidence at all." Everything they'd faced had usually made quite a mess, right? Bix summoned his weapon with a flash but still, nothing threatening.
"Let's just give it a quick sweep." Maybe also he would never admit to trying to get Cass to work through this 'ghost-rage' of hers. It was like locking someone in a dark room when they were afraid of the dark.
The inside of the shack was pretty broken down. It was one room. Besides the natural creepiness of an abandoned shack, he wasn't getting any 'FEAR tingles'. The looming asylum was actually more worrisome than anything...

"IT COUNTS. IT IS A PLACE. IT IS HAUNTED."
There went her little switch. The first thing Cass did inside was suddenly flip the closest object that was not Bix and wasn't nailed to the floor, watching it go clattering across the floor, before she kicked it and ventured further in, stomping in a rage.
If there were any ghosts in there, she'd probably scare them into hiding.
She turned, looking out the window and pointed at the asylum, then slowly drew her fingers back to her eyes, then out towards it again. She was giving the other building an 'I'm watching you' warning before she went and kicked her flipped object one last time, just to be safe.
All the while, she was muttering curses.

"WHOAAAH!" Bix leapt to the side as things were flipped around him. "Chill! There's nothing!! Listen? Please?" Bix was still hopping in the deserted room when a light darted past the wall.
"s**t! SHHH!" Despite her raging he paused. Another light. Was it ghosts? The hair on the back of his neck tingled. He heard a voice. Another voice. But quickly he realized there was nothing supernatural about the voices. They were outside and the lights were flashlights.
"Did you hear something?" The voice said through the wall. "Something from inside?"
"Din't hear nothing." A second voice. Bix motioned for Cass to crouch and put a finger to his lips.
"Anything. Didn't hear anything." the first voice seemed exasperated. A head came to one of the broken windows and peered in but pulled away, not hearing anything. "Ya know those kids probably just went to the damn asylum.. They should just knock it down. Waste of good property if you ask me..."
The voices, after what could have been an eternity, finally drew away.

Cass ducked into hiding as the lights flashed by, picking up that the voices were by no means supernatural in the least rather quickly. Years of experience had a way of making you notice what was human and what was not, and Cass had just that underneath her belt.
Still, even as the lights seemed to go over the area, and the two patrolmen conversed, Cass crept about, nearly tripping over the same item she'd flipped. It was a miracle she hadn't just hit the floor and made all of the noise in the world. She'd made enough for one of the men to look back towards the shack with a sort of appraising posture to them.
"I think I heard something!"
"Eh, the place is old. Stuff falls apart in there all the time." the other man assured as they moved to continue their rounds. Cass just frowned in epic disapproval out the door after them once she was sure she wouldn't be seen.
"I hate this place." she huffed.

The voices drew away and slowly Bix stood up. He crossed his arms and gave her a disapproving look. "Do you hate it because you hate it? Or do you hate it cause you are over reacting a bit?"
The albino hunter walked around the room, his voice a whisper. "Let's at leasput some effort into this. We just got demoted." He sounded like a mope as he turned things over, pushed things around. The dust hadn't even been moved except by wind. No evidence of monsters, ghosts, zombies... not hair.. not even a sign of the teenagers. "Demotions.. bull.. s**t.."
He stopped to peer out the window. The asylum really was creepy. It was like it was watching them. The building wasn't very far, enough that he could see some of the windows. His gaze swept across it's face until.. wait..
"What was that did you see that?" He looked to Cass and back out the window. "There was a person there. By the asylum. I think?" He looked back and it was gone.

"I hate it because hate is all I can feel for it right now. I'm sorry you can't understand that part of me." she frowned, looking away from him as she headed outside. She checked carefully to see if the patrolmen were still there, then looked back to Bix when he commented on the figure in the distance.
She looked towards the asylum, then began to pace the grounds the shack was on, looking over the tombstones, frowning at the surfaces of them. She crouched the run her fingers over them. They were...
"Blank." she frowned. They looked rather old, why would they be unmarked in such a way? There was somebody there. Unless there was nobody there. Like...in the graves, that was. She seemed to puzzle over it for a minute, before she stood up straight.
"Do we want to go and investigate that person you saw?" she asked, finding the shack...lacked certain amounts of information to it. It felt incomplete to her, like there was a level of a puzzle she wasn't being privvied to.

"I dunno. It is weird though." Bix paced through the headstones, occasionally looking back up at the asylum. He didn't see any sign of anything.
You aren't trying to figure this out hard enough. Mina sounded disappointed.
Bix frowned and tried to think of this more like a job or a test and less like Ghost Hunters. "Let me just think for a second. I saw a humanoid form.. shadowy.. not clear. It didn't do anything. But maybe just showing itself is a trap?" He felt like if they pushed on towards the asylum itself it could be dangerous and they would be looking at even more 'demotion' time for not following orders.
"Investigate the shack and then come back and report. We'll make sure to note the asylum in our reports." Bix walked back into the one-roomed shack. Once again the only thing that drew his eye was the asylum.
"I'm sorry.. by the way." He frowned. "That I can't understand. I don't want you to numb yourself. I just don't want to see you in trouble for losing control. Alright?"

"I'll figure it out..eventually. I can't be this way forever." She scratched her nose. "I just.....imagine you keep running into the same kind of bully your entire life..or at least most of it, Bix. You can't get away from them, and it seems like your life revolves around people wanting to see what happens when you and said bully run into each other.
You don't like it and everybody else benefits from it. Meanwhile you lose more and more control of your life down the tunnel.
How do you cope with that?"
Her thought was cut short as the flashes of light came up again. Cass suddenly ducked back into the shack and into her hiding place from earlier, frowning. "Why did they come back?" she whispered harshly, really hoping the pair wouldn't walk inside to see what they were doing at that point in time.
Go away, go away, go away, go away.

"Did you see the game last night?" The cops voices passed the window and Bix simply sighed. They were really getting annoying. Soon they faded again. He peeked out the window and they were heading out into the headstones but not even looking at them.
Bix stood back up again. "I know all about bullies Cass." He wasn't offended or being strange with his statement, but his bullies had all been living, breathing human bullies. "But I'm sorry for being difficult about it."
Sometimes his desire to do things well got in the way of feelings. Occasionally his own OCD had been the cause of flare ups and fights when he was in college. He was trying to work on that frustration.
His mind went back to the mission and his eyes once more were drawn to the asylum. "I'm telling you. That asylum.. it's like its watching this hut. It's like.. looking in the windows at us..OH THERE IT IS.. s**t where'd it go?" A blink and the figure had appeared again, and gone.
"Same pose.. everything."

Her 'bullies' had been living and breathing too, technically speaking. Still, she dusted herself up and got back up. "I dunno, I guess my point is that nearly eleven years of constant antagonism has....broken certain parts of me that I don't think a lot of people see."
She looked off towards the asylum when Bix pointed it out, missing the shape again, but her brows furrowing together in frustration that she kept not seeing what it was Bix kept noticing. Boo! She headed outside to see if she could get a better look, maybe from outside, but..
...
another glance over the tombstones told her that they were indeed all blank.
"In about ten years they'll build a real house here and it'll turn into the movie Poltergeist." she joked, but..something about it didn't seem funny to her after the statement got out of her mouth.
