The door swung open slowly with the knock, but no one seemed to notice she was there. Usually there was some sort of noise when you went to Roch's room, music, animals fighting, or even the skeevee playing, but all there was to be heard was Roch's quiet voice.

"Yeah... jackdammit, Geezer, I'm already a year two--that means I'm halfway--" He was silent for a second, then spoke again. "I get it. But--just a tour, right? YES I wanna be a good grim reaper--but--" He sounded frustrated. "I got friends here." Another pause. "Well, yeah, but--well some of them ain't replaceable! A handful of them--you're a serious d**k, did you know that? I'll think about it," he growled. "JUST think about it. I ain't gonna switch that easily, you know. Yeah. Tell Monica I love her too," he finished, hanging up.

It was only then that he noticed Lark was there, and inwardly cursed himself for not locking the door.

"Pizza delivery places," he said easily. "The one I got has this delivery boil that hates me and Charlie... then again, we DID try to mug him once," he added with a bland little smile. There was no way he was going to discuss switching schools with her, not when he had enough troubles on that front already. "Surprised you're here, though," he said. "What's up?"

"Mmm, yeah, it did," Roch admitted. "It reminded me of something, so I reacted a bit... poorly." He held out his fist and summoned his guitar, feeling twitchy over the thought. "I'da figured I'd be over it after kicking the guy's a**," he muttered. "But I guess I ain't."

He started tuning the guitar, frowning slightly as he contemplated what he was thinking of doing. If she was like Hel--well, it was probably a good thing he was wearing his cup, right?

"I suppose," Roch drawled. "Jackdammit, Lark, I don't care what your pal thinks. I seriously don't. Were he to disappear because of hunters right now, the only thing that'd bother me about it is how it affected you. I'm a callous son of a b***h--literally, and nothing you say or do is going to change that fact. So I will NOT blame you if you stop being my pal. Hell, I might even commend you on it."

He looked her straight in the eyes, seriously. "I had enough trouble with 'close friends' back at the haunted house. I've got enough problems on my plate to not want to deal with overprotective 'big brothers.'" Such as the fact his granddad wanted him to switch schools, he thought dryly.

His expression changed, turning positively wicked as he grinned at her. "I told him you were cute, and if you brought up the idea of dating I wouldn't turn you down, of course," he said shamelessly.

He stared at her, then burst into laughter. "Oh jack, you--" he said, grinning at her, still sniggering. "I just TOLD you what I said. You're cute, and I'd date you if you asked. We could have a hell of a lot of fun! But, then again, Xiu swears I don't know what dating is, so who knows," he added, frowning thoughtfully. "All that talk of 'romance' bored the living jack out of me."

Annnd he'd been distracted. Again.

"Nope, not really. What's the point in standing around like idiots and staring into each others eyes when you could be doing stuff that's a lot more fun?" he asked her. "Theme parks, parties, concerts, joy rides, even," he said, shaking his head.

"Skateboarding, jumpstyle, jamming--jack, there's TONS of stuff that I think would make for a funner date than that romance stuff. Sure a kiss is nice once in a while, but eh," he said, shrugging. "Wouldn't it get BORING just focusing on that sort of stuff? And the whole jealousy thing, and it's awkward as hell being around single pals, or for the single pals forced to watch it." He was on a rant.

One that, unwittingly, proved how much a NOT womanizer he was.
