Calder was rather limited in what he could do now, and with no real movement on his agenda, he found himself visiting Barth and staying longer - only because the demon dorms were a long walk uphill and a long walk back. It usually required many breaks these days.
He'd come over to kill his now ample amount of free time, what with swimming, running, and lost of movement taken from his schedule, and had given Barth a hornicure to pass the time and to perk himself up. It helped the trick a bit, and he carried his case with him in one hand as he made his way all the way back to the demon dorms.
By the time he arrived, he felt faint, and went to the first available common room to sit down, plopping on one of the couches and setting the case beside him.

Flying around did little to ease Jericho's mind, he found. He felt restless, if not somewhat stressed. It was hard to say what the cause was, but he definitely was not quite feeling himself. Perhaps it had to do with the latest news they had learned. Maybe playing some games or cleaning his gems would help him relax. It usually did.
Then again, flying for leisure generally did as well.
Upon entering the monster dorms, he noticed Calder sitting on the couches nearby.
"..Hi Calder," he murmured.

Calder's eyes were lowering when he perked up at the sound of Jericho's voice. Turning, he searched for the owner and smiled upon seeing the dragon. "Hello, Jericho." Then he paused. "Oh, that rhymes!"
He adjusted himself on the couch to turn more towards his direction. "What are you up to? Busy?"

Jericho gave Calder a bit of an odd look for the rhyming comment. Shaking his head to himself, he hesitated before answering his question.
"No.. Not.. particularly. But if you want to train right now, it's not really a good time," he replied. Now that he was standing in place, it seemed he was a little fidgety. Or tense. His wings were shifting here and there, when they were normally kept relatively still when they weren't in use.

A heavy sigh came from the kelpie who then bowed his head. "I can't." He pouted. "Still have stitches. Barth and Mal told me I can't do nuttin. Can't even shift, which is terribly uncomfortable not to do." It was a horrible way to live, being stuck in his humanoid form all the time, not to mention he couldn't swim. Not being underwater at least once a day bothered him to no end.
His eyes went up, noticing the wings twitch. "Are you okay? You can still fly about, right? You didn't get hurt back then, right?"
Now that he was talking to someone, he was very unwilling to see Jericho walk off, but it was very hard to keep Jericho interested enough. The boil usually was short when speaking with Calder, and usually ended their conversations quickly. It made it very hard to shoot the breeze with the dragon.
"You look tense." Then he perked. "I can't help if you're tense." He had his case after all.

"Yeah I'm fine. Just... I dunno. Been feeling weird I guess," he said. There was a little more to it than that, but he didn't really want to go into details. Glancing over his shoulder for a moment, Jericho looked as if he was trying to spot something. But there was nothing there.
"Tense? Uh.. what makes you think I'm tense? I'm not.. .tense.." he replied.
It was completely not true.

Calder smiled. "My kind speaks more with gestures and body language than words, Jericho. A simple ear turn can speak volumes to us and a tap of the hoof can start wars. YOU look tense."
Scooting a bit despite how large the couch was, Calder patted the cushion beside him. "How are you feeling weird? Nothing health-wise, right? You look fit enough." Very fit. With the boil wearing less and less these days, a good look up and down could point out that much.

Scratching his head, Jericho gave a bit of a nervous grin. It seemed like Calder had seen him through there. Though, at the question, he shook his head.
"No. Not a physical thing. Might just be.. stress. All the chaos lately. With the school nearly shutting down, the hunters, and now the horseman evaluation thing," he frowned. The dragon glanced around again, just in case there were people around. There wasn't thankfully. Not this time at least.
Now that he was thinking about those things, he wondered if he should be out training some more. He had to get stronger. The last time the hunters visited the school (that he was aware of), he had let Riley get hurt really badly. Yes, that was likely his fault.

"Yes. I can see that, but the thing is, we all are stressed about it. You're not the only one, so remember that together, we're all rather spread thin over what has happened to this school. We just have to remember that we're all a group, and as such, to stay strong as one. A herd is only strong while together." He said, rather matter-o-factly to the last part, as if a child reciting the most basic rules of living.
"Everyone can tell you that they worry, but it doesn't do you a bit of good getting too worked up over it when you never know what is going to happen. Sure, we do need to prepare, get stronger, work together, but there is a lot of room for something new to come around that corner. So far, I've seen that whatever happens, it's nothing I'd ever imagine. I'm just grateful to be alive and be with everyone else who hasn't.......well, passed on." He frowned at that, touching his stomach a moment and thinking about the injury to Barth or how Christof had literally fallen to bits near the last battle. It was very hard on all of them.
Calder continued to pat the seat next to him. "You're going to make yourself sick if you get worked up too much. Enjoy the time off between what has happened and what may happen. Really isn't living life if you are as tense as a hellhound near water." Calder reached out for the case.
"I know the trick too. How about a hornicure?"

Frowning at Calder, Jericho rolled his eyes as he began to speak. Yes. Yes. He knew everyone was worried about it. He didn't need to be lectured here. It didn't stop him from FEELING that way though.
"Yeah yeah I know," he huffed out while looking around again. Maybe he should just walk to his room. He was getting worked up pretty easily here. Though, Calder's offer caught him off guard.
"A.. hornicure? Look I don't really care if my horns are all prettied up or whatever," he replied. His horns were fine as they were right now.
Right? ..Right?

Calder frowned at him before slowly setting the case to his side. "Fine. I mean, if you are worried about fighting hunters and all those bad things, I'm sure you can get the job done with blunt horns. Sorta sad when I sharpen Barth's horns and he'll have more dangerous, frightening horns than dragon, but that's your choice. I won't stop you. I mean, I do have a lot of practice, I'm very gentle, but if you'd rather go around and let your horns get all stumpy, that isn't MY choice." He played with the clasp to his hornicure case.

Jericho practically went rigid.
Gritting his teeth, he actually reached up to touch his horns at the comments. They were... still sharp. Well. Kind of. He supposed the could be sharper. If they had been sharper, would it have made a difference back then?
Maybe.
Twitching, he shifted in place uncomfortably at the thought.
"My horns are fi... oh Tiamat's s**t alright," he caved in. Perhaps this would help out a bit.

Calder clapped his hands before scooting around and patting the cushion again. "Don't you worry. I have a lot of practice. I know horns are a very serious thing and can be very sensitive, and I'll mind myself to be very careful around them." He opened the case, adjusting a few files, vials, and a rubbing cloth.

"Alright... Don't break them. Please."
A broken horn would be even worse than a dull one. Grimacing at the thought, he made his way over to the couch and plopped down onto it. For a moment, he tensed up as he thought he heard something, but it was nothing.
"And don't.. do anything like paint them," he added, shuddering at the thought.

Calder reached out, taking a cushion nearby and setting it between him and Jericho. "I would never paint a horn. They look beautiful naturally, and you have very impressive horns. I'd never coat them and hide their natural details." He huffed, and let his fingers dance around a few files before picking a medium one and inspecting it. "I think I would have to be a lot stronger to break them. Don't worry. Like I said. I do this all the time for Barth. I know how to mind myself around horns."
His heart was fluttering a beat as he patted the cushion between them. "Just lean back a bit, and I'll start."
