It had been a long day, and Jerry was exhausted by the time he got back to his room, flopping on his bed to catch his breath for all of two minutes. Ah, yes. The most important thing. Jordan would be coming over soon, he hoped, and the place needed a good tidy. But more importantly, the bottle of bourbon Dr. H had so kindly given him was pulled out of it's hiding spot in his closet (Where Candace wouldn't find it) and placed reverently on his desk, along with a pair of plastic cups from the stash he had 'borrowed' from the Christmas Gala. The bottle was already half empty. He sat at his desk, staring at the amber liquid. Still plenty left, if he milked it. Just a shot or two a day it would last... well. Long enough. hopefully. Until he could figure out how to get more. Plenty to share with his friend who was in severe need of some relaxing.

He poured himself a shot while he thought about it.

Jordan was tired and sore and not at all sure this was a good idea. He wasn't really that fond of alcohol; the feeling of being not fully in control of himself always made him uneasy. Nevertheless, here he was. The gesture was at least partially Jerry's form of apology, and maybe hanging out for a while would ease some of the tension between them. He didn't have to have a lot, anyway.

He'd taken the time to shower and change first. Doing clean-up work all day was tiring and grimy work. The shower had woken him up somewhat and made him feel better, at least. He knocked lightly on the door.

He prodded lightly at the sense of Ferros; the dragon had been quiet since the shower, and now Jordan got back only the low rhythmic hissing and faint mumble of incoherent thought that meant that Ferros had gone to sleep. Just as well, he supposed.

"Ah! Hi! Hi! Come in!" Jerry called, finishing off his drink quickly before moving about to make sure all socks and underpants and forgotten-Candace-bras were tucked neatly out of view.

It wasn't that often that anyone locked their door here, but Jordan was still getting used to that after two years spent living in a college residence hall. He let himself in and closed the door again behind him, feeling faintly awkward. "Uh," he said. "Sorry I yelled, earlier." He'd had time to think about what had happened and be all the more embarrassed about losing his temper.

Jerry's room was somewhat untidy; somehow, that wasn't a surprise.

"I er... wanted to apologize too, really," Jerry's face flushed as he motioned to the options for sitting- bed or desk chair, although he was standing in front of the desk just then, fumbling to pour them both a fresh drink. "I... was mostly taken off guard. The past week's been... pretty trying I think. We're all due a little quiet time, huh?" Offering the glass out to him like a meek peace offering, he was still flushing, "I'm sorry for er... being a bit of a prat."

Jordan hesitated for a moment, then sat down on the bed, accepting the glass. "The past few weeks have been pretty trying," he said ruefully, and tried a smile. "Thanks." He sipped cautiously; the woody-sweet taste surprised him, as did the heavy burn at the back of his throat as he swallowed. He coughed and said "Wow," hoping that it wasn't blatantly obvious that he really didn't know liquor at all.

"Good isn't it?" Jerry beamed, raising his glass in a small toast, "L'chaim!" before taking a much larger sip himself, "Dr H was kind enough to give it to me for Chrismas, ahahaha. It's... definitely taken the edge off of most things since then," He sighed out the light burn. "It's very smooth, he knows his stuff! A lot better than what we used to keep. I er... probably should have had a drink or two before clean up this afternoon, I wouldn't have been wound so tight, ahahaha... have another! Seriously, it's ok!" He urged him. "Savor it, this stuff is great."
PostPosted: Thu Jan 19, 2012 9:16 pm

Jordan sipped again, relaxing slowly and paying attention to the flavor. If it was good stuff, he should try to enjoy it. It might be an acquired taste, but it wasn't bad, and it was golden and smooth. Most of the alcohol he'd had had been cheap stuff, and though he was nowhere near an expert, he could tell that this was miles above the crap that he'd been handed at parties. "It is good," he agreed.

He raised an eyebrow at Jerry. "That might've been hazardous," he pointed out.

"Wouldn't be the first time," He giggled a bit conspiratorially before shaking his head and draining his second glass. "Candace doesn't like when I drink. But... well, sometimes a good snifter is what it takes to make the world more manageable, you know? I'm not talking about... getting DRUNK," He wove a hand dismissively, "Just... you know. To relax a little."

He glanced back up at Jordan on the bed, "You certainly looked like you needed it this afternoon. If I had enough I would have shared with more but... rations, and all that." He fidgeted with his cup before pouring another few finger's.

The statement earned Jerry a look of concern. "I suppose, if it's not impairing your judgment significantly," Jordan said. He shook his head and blinked at the faint feeling of dislocation; was it affecting him already? "I don't drink regularly," he admitted, and took another mouthful of the bourbon before continuing. "Would've had to get someone to get it for me before this August, anyway. Guess I could if I wanted now, but then there's the problem of where from." He shrugged one shoulder.

"Rations?" He looked at the bottle, taking in how much was gone - and hadn't Jerry said that had been a Christmas present? "How much do you drink?" he asked.

"It helps me get to sleep sometimes," He said dismissively, wobbling to his feet to scoop up his guitar, sitting on the other end of the bed to make sure it was in tune after setting his drink down on the bed side table. "I've been getting um. Bad dreams a lot lately, I'm sure I'm not the only one," He added in quickly. "I've been sending Candace to her own room a lot, if only to er..." His eyes glanced to the light switch, which had been removed of all tape, at least. "Make sure she gets her rest. It helps me sleep. My Gram used to give me a little since I was like... ten." He left it at that.

"Anyway, in our line of work, I figure the Good Doctor knew what he was prescribing. It does do the trick sometimes." He laughed nervously, and quickly fished for a change of subject, "I should take rec-room duty more. Harrison wants to challenge me to a ping pong match still."
PostPosted: Fri Jan 20, 2012 6:49 am

"Mm. I guess. Bad dreams ... " Jordan had been successfully deflected for the time being, apparently. He studied the color of the liquid in his glass before sipping again, frowning thoughtfully. "I get a few," he said. "I don't ... really remember them well. That's all right, though." He sighed. "Andy never stopped using a nightlight. Told Mom it was because he didn't want to trip if he got up in the night, but it was his bed the shadow was under."

He looked up and smiled a little, a glint of faintly evil amusement creeping in. "Ping-pong? Activities that require rapid hand-eye coordination? You're going to lose, unless he's terrible too."

Jerry snorted at the night-light comment. He couldn't remember if Jordan knew about his... quirk. He didn't need to explain it, too many people already knew. And it was embarrassing. "Are you saying I don't have good coordination?" His guitar was suddenly strummed as though rising to the challenge.
PostPosted: Fri Jan 20, 2012 11:21 am

"Are you going to do anything about it?" Jordan grinned, his impending melancholy mood averted. He scooted back until his back was against the wall. The bourbon was definitely strong stuff; he could feel it already - damn he hadn't eaten first, what had he been thinking? Tired, not thinking, not smart.

Annnd it looked like Jerry was going to sing something. Perhaps not the smartest challenge in the world. "What are you playing?" Jordan asked.

Jerry wet his whistle before begining a rythmic, Strum-strum-strum-strum, "You might know this one. But if not then I don't think I can help you," He giggled before glancing over to Jordan with a smirk, and sang, "What would you think if I sang out of tune, Would you stand up and walk out on me?" Strum-strum-strum, "Lend me your ears and I'll sing you a song, And I'll try not to sing out of key." His expression looked eager as though willing Jordan to sing along.
