On a normal day on Deus Ex, much of the morning and early afternoon was taken up by duties. It could be anything from training to research to reconstruction. It was uncommon for a trainee to find themselves without anything to do, as there was always a project of some sort that could use the assistance of a few extra hands. While most of the projects were dealing with reconstruction, there were the few that were of a different sort. Namely having to deal with classes. Earlier that morning the trainees received a debriefing from a certain Death division leader. Later that day they would receive a follow-up from an unlikely source. Text from Aria Non-mandatory follow up on Runic Weapons. 3pm training fields. Come only if interested. At least she remembered to include her name this time. And it was at an actual tolerable hour this time, unlike that emergency mission at 2am. Come to think of it, Aria never gave a debriefing statement concerning that event... In any event, at 2:45pm on the training field Aria was there already. She was busying herself with arranging several runic weapons on a table and checking over them, running last minute checks with them while waiting for people to show up. The most she did was throw a quick glance to anyone that showed up before turning back to her work. OOC - This is a non-mandatory RP! You don't have to be here if you don't want to~ - Feel free to have your hunter gossip/stand around/etc. - If you wish to address Aria, please quote me. - This is a follow-up to the introduction to runic weapons with Caelius. It is assumed that everyone went to that earlier. - This RP is now CLOSED to new participants. There will be another Runic Weapon demonstration in the future that you can attend. - ...of course, you can always sneak in...

A follow-up on runic weapons, pretty much immediately? That sounded like a really good idea to attend. Jordan arrived ten minutes early. If nothing else, he could spend the extra time doing exercises.
Aria was there already, arranging runic weapons on a table and checking them over; Jordan drifted a little closer and watched curiously, though he didn't interrupt.

Madison had been pretty much miserable ever since chaos had broken out at the Christmas Gala. It had been nothing but crap ever since then, presents biting and glowing... whatever the ******** that had been, and Caelius yelling especially nastily and just... no. She was done. She wanted to be done. The demotion was especially galling, and thinking about the unfairness of it all made her throat tighten with the urge to cry in frustration.
But she wasn't going to cry. She was going to kick some freaking a** instead.
Thus, Madison ignored Kouki's frustrated objections and headed off to the training grounds. Part of her was curious to see the actual Aria, but mostly she wanted to prove to everyone that she could do this. Do it, and own it.
Still, when she got there she couldn't help but feel oddly shy. Madison couldn't quite bring herself to address the Mist Hunter directly; instead, she nodded back meekly when Aria glanced at her. It was still hard to think that this was, technically, her first time training with the Mist division leader... well, at least Jordan was here too. She offered him a wry smile, slightly dampened by everything that had happened. With a side order of oh god, he saw me acting like a total idiot. Nevermind that everyone had been acting like a total idiot...

There was no such thing as non-mandatory for Candace, especially from Aria, and especially on something they were going to be expected to know how to use. And so Candace wasted no time hurrying to the field, stopping near the table Aria was behind and setting up. Whoa...there were so many! "Hello, ma'am." Candace greeted Aria cheerfully before looking down at the table. Chains? A torch? What did a torch have to do with being a weapon? Zombies? She was curious now. She turned away from the table shortly after to give Jordan and Madison a wave. "Hey~."

Dakota didn't think he would be coming to this class but...
he wanted to become just a little more useful in battle. While Chama's barrier was a great gift, at the same time, it left him pretty much lacking in the offensive. And a dead defense hunter was no good at defense ever.
So he plopped down with the other hunters and rested his hand on his chin.
i don't really, but this will help on missions, and I need all the help I can get.
Chama shrilled. Dakota rolled his eyes before ignoring her.

Marcus had reacted to the text with..mixed feeling to say the least. He'd been demoted, yet told to lead once more, prove himself. Gods above were not kind to him as of late. Aria was still a bit...more sane than Caelius or Dr. H. At least it seemed that way. Still, Marcus wanted to prove he was worthy of being promoted and he wasn't going to pass up on the chance to learn about the new weapons.
Arriving at the field, he gave a nod to Aria. "Good Afternoon Miss." Jordan got a wave as did Madison and Candace. Dakota got a smile. "Takeing your work seriously?"

Wilson was more than willing to attend the optional follow-up Aria was offering. He re-read the text, his eyes lingering on the time listed. His mouth twisted into a smile. Although he barely knew the mist division leader, she certainly seemed better than Caelius in a number of aspects. Most notably he appreciated the fact that he didn’t have to rush to the meeting destination, although he also vaguely recalled the last text message he had received from Aria. It had been so damn early that time.
He ambled over to the training fields with plenty of time to spare. Wilson flipped open his phone to check the time and it was just around a quarter to three. He curiously stared at the woman as she leaned over a table filled with peculiar weapons. Why was there a blow to—oh wait, there was Dakota! His eyes lit up as he jogged over to the lad and plopped down next to him. “Hey.”

He'd gotten the text a few hours after their disastrous and horrifying meeting with Caelius, and Gale was still in quite a Mood. He wasn't really throwing a tempter tantrum - more like a silent sort of disgruntled sulking - but when he got an unlikely message from none other than Aria on his phone, he decided to just give up the pouting and damn well get his promotion back.
He wasn't really certain that this "follow up" would help in any way, but either way Gale left his room at half past two and made his way down to the training fields anyway.
The Mist Hunter leader was already there when he arrived, along with Jordan, Madison, Candace, Dakota, Wilson, and Marcus. Gale gave them all a small nod in greeting, standing off to himself, but sort of within the range of where Jordan and Marcus were, considering that he knew him the best out of everyone.
And because he still wasn't really sure how he felt about Aria.

Though it wasn't mandatory, Deryk decided to come and check it out anyway. The runic weapons seemed pretty interesting and all. Making his way over towards the training field, he just noticed there weren't too many other trainees around for this.
Finding a place to stand, he grinned and waved to the handful of others around before glancing at the table of weapons. Well.. that was an interesting assortment to say in the least.

"Alright, it looks like everyone who wanted to show up is here," Aria announced, turning from the table and leaning against it. She crossed her arms as she faced the hunters that showed up, taking note of their division. "As Caelius... demonstrated for all of you earlier," she began, gesturing towards the table, "These are runic weapons. They function similarly to our weapons, except for the fact that they cannot create a Fear shield. This 'shield' is what enables us hunters to go toe-to-toe with the things we hunt and emerge in one piece."
She stood up and away from the table. "There are several different kinds of runic weapons. However, I will only be going over the weapons you trainees will have access to. There are many different kinds of runic weapons, and the Life labs have been doing research into making more. If this topic interests you, I suggest speaking to Dr. H or Caelius when you advance further into your training. As for right now, if you attempted this sort of thing you're liable to blow your own hand off."
Aria looked at the trainees carefully, as if sizing them up. "In order to demonstrate these weapons for you, however... I will need a volunteer."

On the whole, volunteering for demonstrations got one stabbed, hit, or electrocuted.
Jordan stepped up. "I'll do it."

Dakota grinned as Wilson and Marcus joined the group. While he didn't know the other hunters all that well, except for a chance meeting with Candace, he was glad to see Boss and Wilson there.
He snorted before sobering. "I guess so Boss. I don't really like losing, and we came close to it." He sighed before shrugging.
"Sup Wilson." Dakota turned to him before turning his attention to Aria. When she asked for a volunteer, he almost rose before Jordan beat him to the punch and smiled. though he wanted to jump the ball on learning, sometimes it was better to see someone else get hurt before realizing what you got yourself into.

It was very unlikely for 'not interested' and 'training fields' to go in the same train of thought, and so, especially after having mostly missed the briefing by Caelius earlier, Reine was pretty happy to receive the message she did. Hopefully it'd catch her up on things, even if she just really didn't feel like she could move very much.
Pausing a moment, she stretched again before continuing on her way. Some other trainees had already gathered there- she recognised all of them, for once. The demonstration seemed like it had already started, with Jordan stepping up towards Aria. Shooting Dakota a dirty look, Reine stalked past him and waved at Marcus and Madison, though she didn't approach any of them, instead choosing to lean against a tree.

As Jordan stepped up, Aria flashed him a smile. "Excellent, just what I expected from the Sun division. Come here, please." She moved past the table, calling over her shoulder. "Please select a runic weapon: dagger, gun, torch, chains, or bandage. When you pick it up, it will zap you just like a static shock. Please don't drop it, especially if you select the gun. After making your choice, please join me over here."

"Yes, ma'am." Jordan returned the smile, relaxing just fractionally. He studied each runic weapon carefully, then picked the chain up; the shock burned through him, and he gritted his teeth and kept hold of the chain.
Ow, Ferros grumbled.
I hope it's not going to do that every time I pick one up. Jordan moved over to join Aria, as instructed.
