Today was one of those rare days that she was not at her sisters side. They had been traveling some time now and while they got along great there were times when they simply needed their space to think and breath. And it seemed that today was one such day. When she had woken in the morning Penthesilea had not been around. A quick search of the area told Yakut that her sister had wandered off, it was nothing to worry about as Pen could take care of herself. So with some time to herself Yakut began to walk about, looking for herbs to collect. Just because they were traveling didn't mean she could let her duties slip. They may not have needed any healing lately, but one could never know when an accident could happen or if they were to stumble upon an injured Soquili then her services would be needed.

Setting off into the trees Yakut walked with her head low to the ground. Some herbs that she used only grew near other plants and as such were easily hidden to the eyes. It took a great deal of patience and searching to find them. At this moment she wasn't looking for anything in particular, whatever herbs she came across, if she needed, then she would pick them. Stopping beside a tree Yakut close inspected the mushrooms that were growing there. No, those ones weren't what she used, though they did have a secondary use. But she was not looking to poison anyone today and so she moved on.

User Image Abiron felt stiff, as if he hadn't moved in centuries. He was tired, as though he hadn't slept in eons. His joints ached, his head pounded, and every little noise made his skull threaten to burst. He had never been sick before, as he usually kept up on his daily regimen of natural herbs, but he had run out of his stock and soon found himself feeling... off.

He blinked his eyes against the blinding sun, groaning down deep in his chest and wishing he could take off the antlers and beads that clinked and jingled so innocently in his ear. Why didn't he gather his herbs when he had the chance? Now he was too weak, too ill, too dizzy to tell a helpful mushroom from a hurtful one. He stumbled through the trees, wincing as his antlers became entangled in low-hanging tree branches, every step feeling like a thousand hours of work and pain.

The ribs on his back were larger than he remembered, perhaps because he had lost weight. Now his own were making an appearance, valleys in his side that matched his jutting hipbones and hollow face. Every inch of him felt dirty, mangy, nothing like how he usually felt. His coat was dull. His eyes were listless. He assumed if he could see his reflection, he wouldn't recognize himself.

Finally, Abiron couldn't take it any more. Weak from dehydration and exhaustion, he felt his knees begin to shake moments before he collapsed to the dirt, coughing feebly and shivering violently as he tried to rest his head on the ground without getting the antlers stuck. He shut his eyes, begging for sleep and a momentary reprieve from his illness, waiting in vain for the blackness of slumber to envelop him.

The herbs in this particular area were plenty, but Yakut was yet to find the exact ones she was looking for. Even so she took a few moments to carefully pluck some leaves from a few plants before placing them up under her mane. It was a trick that had been taught to her by her mentor. When one lacked any type of container to carry something in those items could often be placed within the mane temporarily until a more suitable way of transporting them became available. A small gust of wind blew threatening to steal away the leaves before she could get them fully secured. But she held on and once it was gone finished her work. Lifting her head Yakut glanced skyward. It was oddly quiet in the forest today, almost too quiet. A few birds sang in the distance and a single squirrel could be heard chittering away to itself, yet the life within the forest seemed off today. Small critters often could indicate trouble or danger ahead of time, yet Yakut did not think it was a predator in the area. No it was something else.

A thud in the distance drew her attention. "Life suffers. Help is needed to protect it." She said before glancing toward the branches above her. That blasted crow was gone. Some help he was! That damn bird was nothing but trouble since he had started following her around a few weeks ago. He was always there except when she needed him. Giving her head a small shake Yakut set off in the direction she had heard the sound. It didn't take long before she came across the downed stallion. Her eyes roamed over his body taking in his terribly thin frame and protruding bones. He had been sick for some time it would seem. Though she knew he would need her help she couldn't help but stand there for a moment taking in his bone accessories and beads. Could he be one of her rank? A shaman? It was possible, but plenty of Soquili she had seen wore bones yet did not practice the ways.

Stepping forward Yakut gently nosed at the stallions shoulder to see if he would rouse at all. "Ground bound one, you are ill. Yakut can help you return to your hooves." His coat was dull and covered with dirty. "Speak now, tell me of your illness." While she could treat him without that knowledge more than likely this would work better if he could talk to her, at least if he was talking she knew he would have a fighting chance to make it.
