Not too many people would be out in the middle of a heavy snow-fall like this one. White blanketed the ground thickly, and the wind softly whisked things about. However, even with wind, and the snow itself, there was nothing to be heard for miles. People were inside their homes, the world lit with soft candlelight from small panes, doors tightly locked against the oncoming storm. Some would say the silence was a blissful thing, but to one, who sat in the midst of it all, the silence was louder than any screaming, buffeting his eardrums, and drilling its way into his head. The sound of Silence was terrifying. Most people would say that there was no sound to snowfall, but he believed that there was. He believed in the silence, and in the dark.
Why? Because he could hear the wails in the dark. He'd always been able to hear a bit of something in the silence. As much as he adored it. it became terrifying after a while, because of the fact that in the silence, it was said by the old people of his city that the dead spoke. It was why Alexi preferred only staying out here for about an hour. This place could be your grave if you weren't careful, but as he sat on the corner of his house, darkness caressing his face, and the snow stinging his pale cheeks. Near him, maybe six feet away, one could see the slight flickering of a candle through the thick haze of white. Somehow, he found this to be the time that he was most at peace. Leaning back once more, those golden eyes opening against the blustering wind.
And in that silence was when he started to hear noises that shouldn't have been there. Sounds of loud bangs, like explosions, screams and words of people. In the distance, many lights began to pierce his gaze, and his heart started to stop. Wait...what? What was that? Something like that shouldn't be out in the snow! So he got to his feet, making his way to the light.....then....it hit him like a ton of bricks....or a semi. One or the other. He was dying....He could feel blood staining his mouth, as he let out the ironic chuckle, ""...Happy.....mother-freaking.....new years..."
