You know what bothered Hel? When she said she was going to do something…and then ended up not getting to it for quite a while. Like spending time with Xiu. Jack damn it. She said she was going to do that forever ago…but then all these things went down…still! That was no excuse, and Hel was ready to rectify the situation. She marched into the demon dorm common room with a purpose, but stopped a bit off to the side of the entry way, adjusting her messenger bag as she pulled out her phone. Text to Xiu Hello Xiu! Are you busy? If not, may I have some of your time? I am in the common room. The reaper sent the text and waited.

Xiu had been in the midst of wrapping up some freshly baked spookies when she received Hel's text. All it took was one quick read through to have the baku smiling brightly and typing back a quick text.Text to Hel I'm not busy! I'll be down in a few minutes! Sending off the message, she decided to take a detour from her original plans, unwrapping the spookies and transferring some of them onto a piece of orange cellophane. This was quickly wrapped up and topped off with a black bow. With her impromptu gift in hand, Xiu bid her minis goodbye with a quick, "I'm going out for a bit--be good!" before she head out the door.
For some reason, it really did feel like it had been a long, long time since she had last seen Hel. Or at least, they hadn't hung out in a while. Excited to see her friend again, the baku made her way to the common room, and--ah, there she was! Beaming, Xiu hurried forward, tail wagging behind her. "Hel, hello!" A pause, and then she held out the spookies. "For you! You caught me just as I finished these."

Hel grinned as she got that reply back from Xiu, and continued to wait in the common room, shifting her weight from foot to foot. The reaper’s grin only widened happily as the baku came towards her, and she dug into her bag to pulled out a wrapped package. “Xiu!” She called back cheerfully. “ It is wonderful to see you, friend!” Hel paused, taking in the sight of the spookies. “ Ah! How sweet of you!” She shifted the package to one hand, so that she could take the spookies with one, and then hand her the package with the other. “ This is for you as well!” Inside the package, Xiu would find this:

W-what?
Xiu staring blankly at the package, and her gaze moved between the gift, to Hel, and then back. This...this was for her? Shyly, she stretched out her hands and hesitantly took the offered package. "H-Hel, what is this? You didn't have to..." She ran her fingers over the wrapping paper, and after looking to the valkyrie for confirmation, carefully unwrapped the object.
"Thank you!" That was the first thing she blurted out upon seeing the incredibly pretty bag, her already widened eyes lighting up. Lifting the bag up, she traced the pattern with her finger, and then grinned up at her friend. "It's lovely! You...you really shouldn't have!"
Looking flustered, she reached out to hug the other ghoul, unable to hide the wagging of her tail. When she pulled back, her expression had changed to one of sheepishness. "Had I known that you brought something, I would have gotten you something better than those spookies." They had been a rather impromptu gift, and in her opinion, kind of embarrassing compared to what she had just been given.

Hel couldn’t help but laugh at Xiu’s reaction. “Everyone has said that, but as I have told everyone, I know, but I wanted to!” As the baku unwrapped the gift, Hel carefully placed the spookies into her bag for safe keeping, and grinning once she saw the gift. “You are most welcome!”
She returned the hug gladly, squeezing the ghoul tightly for a good long moment before releasing her, and waved a hand dismissively at her. “Ah, do not worry about it, dear Xiu! I am very thankful to have received spookies from you! They are very much talked about.” Hel reached up to rub the back of her neck. “And I apologize as well…I believe I have owed you a visit for quite some time, and I have failed to deliver until now!” Hel frowned. “How have you been?”

Smiling, the ghoul slung the bag over her shoulder and peered down at it. It was clear that she was already very fond of it, if the bright eyes and flushed face was any indication. "I guess now I don't have to keep everything in my obi!" As if to prove her point, she removed everything from her obi--a bag of pumpkin seeds, her eyephone, hairclips, hair ties, and candies--and carefully slid each of them into the bag.
...Wow, that felt nice. Now there was nothing poking at her waist when she walked!
The baku flushed at her friends comment about her spookies, but she was quick to hold up her hands at the apology. "No, no, please! Don't worry about it!" After all, Xiu hadn't contacted the valkyrie either! "I've been fine! Trying to recover from everything that's happened lately, but...how about you?"

Hel blinked as she watched the baku pull out quite the assortment of items from her obi. Wow. She was packing all of that in there? She couldn’t be too surprised though…since she tended to cram a ton of items into her apron pockets.
The reaper’s hands moved to rest on her waist as Xiu spoke, and she gave a sympathetic nod of her head. “…Ah…about the same, really.” She trailed off for a moment and made a face. “…All the recent events…it really bothers me.” Her lips pulled into a twisted frown, and she sighed. “…As of right now, what can we do though?” The ghoul shrugged. “…Just to deal with it and keep on going…but ah…that text you sent me after that one evening at Roch’s…what did you want to talk to me about?”

Ah. The text, right.
Suddenly Xiu seemed a little nervous, wringing her hands in front of her as her gaze was cast downwards. It was a bit of an awkward topic to bring up, that was for certain. How was she even supposed to start? "A-ah, well, you see...on that day, I actually arrived a little earlier than the intended. Since I heard you and Roch talking, I thought that I shouldn't disturb you, but as a result..."
As a result, she ended up hearing some things. Looking uncomfortable, she shifted her weight from one foot to the other, and then back. "I didn't mean to eavesdrop, honest! But I heard the two of you talking about Mot, and..."
And did Hel like Mot, she wondered? The two of them were definitely close, that was obvious, but did she like like him? Xiu recalled the day that she and Mot spied on Hel and Roch, and what the state of the poor cowboil had been like that day. Clearly they both liked each other...but did either of them realize that the feelings were returned?
Of course they did. Xiu had simply not heard the news yet!

The reaper tilted her head as Xiu suddenly seemed to get nervous. “…Uh huh…?” The ghoul encouraged, tilting her head. She heard her out, and once it was made known, the ghoul’s eyes widened a bit. OH. Hel shifted her weight from foot to foot for a moment.
“…Ah…yes…” She glanced around before looking back at Xiu. “…Well…I imagine you…might have known possibly…that for a while…Mot liked Lizzy…Roch and I were discussing that.” Hel rubbed the back of her neck again. “…We were concerned about Mot being hurt…being caught up on someone who is in a relationship. Heh.” Did Hel’s cheeks just turn a bit red. “Everything is worked out now, though.”

Xiu didn't say anything as she listened--she simply nodded at certain points to indicate that she was listening. Yes, she had known that Mot liked Lizzy--at least, she had had a very, very deep hunch about it--and she understood why Hel and Roch must have been concerned, but...
...But did Hel just blush?
She frowned slightly, cocking her head to the side as she looked at her friend with a hint of puzzlement in her eyes. "...Things are...worked out?" She stared, and stared, and stared some more.
Then her eyes widened.

Hel coughed, glancing off to the side.
“…Uh huh…” She started, possibly looking a bit sheepish. “…Mot and I are…uh…dating now.” Gosh, that still seemed really weird to say. That, and Hel still was not fond of being open about her personal matters…but this was Xiu, and she deserved to know.

There was a long silence as the baku gaped openly at her friend...and then like a light switch being flicked on, the ghoul's whole demeanor suddenly changed completely. Her previous-blank face lit up with delight as she clutched her hands together in front of her, her tail waving a mile a minute as she beamed up at the valkyrie.
"You two are...!" Aah, so they actually confessed to one another?! Along with the feelings of happiness for her friends, Xiu felt a wave of relief as well--she had initially been kind of nervous at the idea of talking to Hel about what she had overhead...but it looked like that hadn't been necessary anyways.
"That's great--I'm so happy for you two!"

It was kind of weird, the way Xiu was openly gaping at her. “…Uh…” Hel shifted her weight to another foot again, and rubbed the back of her neck once more. She couldn’t help but be amused as the baku’s tail started to wag (so cute) at a fast pace. The reaper nodded her head to confirm her question, and then grinned a bit as Xiu stopped gaping at her. “Ah…thank you very much, friend!” The ghoul pushed one of her braids over her shoulder.
“That…more or less is everything up to date on my end…how about you, Xiu?”

What wonderful news! When the conversation turned to the baku, however, she momentarily blanked out. Eer, what had she been doing lately? "Oh, um...nothing has been very eventful on my end, aside from..." A vague gesture. There had been all the Christmas business, and then the school assembly, and...well, a lot of things had gone down, but Hel had probably heard of--or been a part of--a couple of those. "I...I did make some new friends though!"
Xiu positively beamed at this--she loved the fact that she had become more social since attending Amityville, and it showed. "I've also been cooking and baking a lot still! And..."
She trailed off for a moment, a small frown suddenly tugging at her lips. "...And I should really be practicing my dream diving more. I've already improved since I first starting coming to this school, but my skills are nothing compared to a full-fledged baku."

Ha…Hel understood the vague gesture. Not much more could be said about the subject; she understood.
The reaper smiled. “That is wonderful!” She replied. “It is always good to meet new friends and forge new bonds." Hel nodded her head happily as well at the cooking and baking part, because that was always a good thing to her, but then she frowned as Xiu talked about her dream driving. Aw, Jack damn it. Hel definitely felt terrible. She promised she’d help Xiu out with that…but with all the hectic things as of late…she’d been neglecting to do so.
This had to be fixed, right now.
The valkyrie had a rather serious look on her face as she leaned towards the baku. “I promised to help you practice, and I have been failing to deliver. I need to make amends for that, dear Xiu, so let us have a session right now!”
