Every now and then, Hel liked to stop in front of one of the bullentin boards in the school and look over the flyers that were posted on it. Sometimes, rather interesting things popped up on them! Today, the valkyrie wasn’t about to be disappointed.
The ghoul hummed thoughtfully to herself as she shifted her weight from one foot to another, and in her dark fingers was a particular flyer for a boutique…that sold chainmail…and bloomers! Score. Hel couldn’t say no to bloomers! Her stash had been a bit depleted due to the last field trip, and then of course the ones that gave way to regular wear and tear needed to be replaced…
The ghoul grinned widely as she looked over more of the flyer.

Levi had acquired more silver from her folks after the ghoul mentioned she was running out of the necessities. It wasn't much, but she figured she could get some bloomers and things at the very least. The ghouls back home all sewed such things, which resulted in varied fits- buying rather than asking for some homemade bloomers, Levi wanted to try it the city folk way.
...but where did the city folk buy bloomers? Thinking on the subject, there weren't many who actually wore-
Levi stopped in her tracks. Hel! Well Jack as ma witness, was just wonderin' somethin'. The valkyrie reaper wore them too; excellent!. Surely she knew a place! Unless she'd made hers too; best to ask her about them and get the scoop. Eh... As she got closer, her head tilted downward to meet the petite ghoul's eyes before noticing she was reading something. Don't make yer 'own pantaloons, do ya'?

The reaper’s attention was suddenly caught by a voice she hadn’t heard in quite some time.
Hel’s head snapped up as the monster ghoul came to a stop nearby, and instantly her grin widened. “Levi!” The ghoul greeted energetically. “Good to see you again, friend!” Her attention returned to the flyer as well as she gave a shake of her head. “Ah, afraid not! I am a weaver, not a seam stress…but, I did come across this flyer that seems to be having a sale on them!” The reaper held out the flyer for Levi’s inspection.

It had been the right place at the right time, it seemed. Yea~ buttons n' mendin' but never makin'. Hel hadn't made hers and would thusly have to buy them as well.
Hmm Peering at the writing on the advertisement, two things caught her immediate attention. One was the fact that there was a SALE being called to attention in giant type and the other was that bloomers were involved in it. I'll be danged. It was pretty unbelievable that there would be such a smashing chance to score some garments for sale price. This looks like 'a pretty fine deal ta'me. Of course, Levi didn't know what was full price for them in the first place, but sales always meant cheaper than the norm, right? Right.
Thinkin' a goin' there some'point ta' have 'a look? With any luck...

The reaper was along the same lines of thought as Levi.
Hel nodded her head vigorously. “Ah, yes! It looks like a good deal to me, as well!” She folded up the flyer then, and tucked it into an apron pocket. Turning back to Levi, her grin widened. “I am thinking about going there right now actually. I have nothing else to do right at this moment, and I am in sore need of some new pairs!” The ghoul jabbed a thumb at the exit. “Care to join me, friend?”

Levi's tail swayed, coiling and uncoiling happily at the idea of having found someone to join her on this endeavor. A bright grin perked when the tatzel answered the invite. Sure do! Let's see what 'they got! Into the direction of the exit she strode, keeping at the pace of the ghoul.
Hel always seemed to have a lot of energy about her in that tiny form. Ta'be honest, sure am glad I ain't gavin' ta look 'bout tha place on ma'own. Me n' shopping'... For a day of required shopping, the reaper's company would certainly be a positive addition. Bloomers wouldn't be as bad as dresses though, she reasoned.
Levi peered at the back of Hel, clasping her forearms behind her back, catching a glimpse of those wings and finally asking her most common of questions: Say, Hel, what sorta critter are ya? I mean, ya ain't just no reaper. That much I know by yer dorm n' all, but outta' all the other reapers I 'know (which wasn't many, really), yer tha 'only one with 'em. She tilted her chin towards Hel's back. Something just yer kin got? It was a casual stroll to the exit gate with a few forward questions she'd meant to ask but never really found the opportunity to.

The reaper seemed very pleased. She had always meant to seek out Levi’s company…but alas…other things just always seemed to get in the way. Not today though! The ghoul was sporting a grin of her own as she fell in stride with the tatzel, and exited out of the school. Hel gave a laugh at Levi’s words, and a firm nod of her head in agreement. “My sentiments exactly, friend. I would rather be shopping for food any day over clothes but…ah…when you need bloomers, you need bloomers.”
She watched as Levi seemed to be peering at something on her person, and didn’t mind her forwardness at all. If anything, she seemed to puff up with pride over what Levi was inquiring about. “You could say that!” She replied proudly. “I am a valkyrie, and all of us valkyries have wings!”

Well them feathers 're sure neat n' clean! For a ghouls who had no problems rolling around in mud during a fight, the tatzel was surprisingly neat and tidy usually.
By comparison, Levi had only ever seen another student up close with large white wings. The wrath demon owning those always left them dirty to wherever they disappeared off to when he put them away; red stains at the ends were proof. The valkyrie obviously knew how to maintain her wings better. Hmm.... valkyrie valkyrie. First time hearing' 'bout all'a ya'll folks. Yer parents both got 'em like ya? 'or-
Levi herself wasn't the same fur color as either her Ma or Pa, but that wasn't necessarily the same for Hel. Perhaps there was a reasoning to why she had different colored wings... and halves for that matter. One got white n' one black?... or everybody's got 'em in different colors back home? She was honestly asking and interested in the ghoul's family and kin; this was a soft spot for the tatzel herself.

Soon enough they were clearing the school gates, and making their way towards town. Hel was smiling widely as she looked over at Levi, a grin tugging at her lips every so often as she conversed with the tatzel. “Ha, thank you friend! It would not do to run around with them dirty, ya? Feathers would get matted and worn, then be useless for flying.” The ghoul gave a shake of her head. “No, my mother is a valkyrie, and my father is a grim reaper…ah, like Mot!”
Hel hummed thoughtfully. “…Ah…I suppose you could say my mother and sisters have different colors. If you have seen my sister Freya, she has owl like wings and colors…one side of me is an off white….my mother has off white with light stripes...some of my sisters have spots…” Hopefully that was descriptive enough? “What about you, friend? Are your parents of the same species?” Hel was just as curious about family in return. It was a fond subject for her as well.

Ahhh- well, that's true! Never 'thought 'bout that. How was West able to fly when his wings were unclean? Then again- Hel's wings didn't disappear into the unknown when she wasn't using them. She'd consider asking him about it one day. Effectin' yer flyin'. Imagine that'd git dangerous if yer in'a rough draft. She listened, continuing to carry on with interest in Hel's family and heritage. I see! Like tha'cowboil. Yer Pa 'bout as- Levi wanted to say skinny or small, but that wouldn't seem kind in describing Mot somehow. -lenghty?
Levi went through her index of students, trying to recall if she'd ever seen another ghoul with fluffy wings. There was that one time. A ghoul had danced beside West during the DDD contest and he'd brought out his wings then to counter how large hers were. Levi hadn't caught her name, but did remember the fair ghoul with wings like an owl. Think might'a seen 'er. Yeah. Nodding as Hel explained, Levi examined her off white half, understanding why now. So yew ghouls kinda' take after yer Ma.
Her tail swayed when Hel asked about her own family and origin. Yep. First time seein' critters'a tha'sorts 'ere. Back home we're all tatzelwurm. Ma is'tha' cousin'a Uncle Vern who's'a brother ta ma Pa. My Ma met 'em through their folks since Pa's actually 'a cousin 'a Ma too. It was the best way Levi could explain it. They'd dun been havin' tatzels in ma town since it was made, yep. Her grandmother and grandfather were brother and sister, she knew this much. Levi didn't see anything wrong with their choice in mates; the town continued on this way. What was wrong with that?
On the same note, Levi shuddered at the thought of mating with her Cousin Enis or Demi. She didn't dwell on the idea of mating with kin for long; somehow it didn't seem right for her. She knew all the boils back home. None of them had a positive enough response from her. Stupid boils. It was the way of her town to structure based on boil/ghoul as was tradition, though in some cases, to freshen up the line of FEAR, boils and ghouls mated with one another. Thinking of the ghouls yielded a similar disinterest. They were all too ghouly.
All in all, Levi didn't see herself mating with her kin. It was like her urge to school elsewhere; she wanted to see new and different things than what was known to her kin already. They're all black though. Picking at a strand of her hair, spinning it around her finger and looking at it in thought. Once'in'a while, somethin' like this happens, ya know? Whatever disruption in the FEAR melding occurred within her pumpkin, Levi wasn't the first. They usually worked out rather well scheming out how to sort out mating for the purpose of breeding. Levi happened to be one of the discolored at birth and stayed that way. She had no knowledge of this process. Just that she wasn't as good as the others while hiding in the dark brush at night because her fur was a beacon. Levi did enjoy the fact that she could better cover herself in this tiny student form.
