Some of them had retreated already; his simple appearance had been enough to break the morale of the basic senshi. He wondered if they would even stay with their ‘team’ after such a wide-eyed retreat when their comrades stayed. It was the ones that stayed though that was his immediate concern. He did not want brave, coordinated soldiers in the name of Order; he liked things as they were… disorganized. A disorganized squabble that held little or no respect for its royals and each sure that they were the ones who would bring order to the ironic chaos of their side.

Ego, he could use that as well as their fear. Kind words and dark thoughts mingling as he laid before them the wicked deeds the senshi had preformed, bringing down their confidence that simply by being what they were, that they were some kind of pillar of virtue and wisdom. If they wanted to claim to be human that was their most human trait, fallibility. “Don’t just ask me, find the remains of your Blood Moon court, ask them about what they did to us, ask how many they killed not quickly and mercifully but slowly over a period of weeks. Tell me then how much more humane you are by nature, how kind and wise you are when you know that senshi are capable and willing to flay someone alive, feed their toes and fingers to rats as they dig their fingers into someone’s softest parts while they scream. Does it delight you? Does it feel justified to do that to a lieutenant who’s only crime was to be freshly recruited?”

The young woman before him looked almost as green as her hair at the vivid imagery, he moved slowly forward, tilting his head down to remove some of the visual levels of intimidation. Lowering him-self slightly in posture so she seemed taller than him as he spread his hands, a gesture of peace, pulling the emotional strings, toying with the casual nature of body language to play her into his hands.

“They even turned on each other, divided in the end, I wonder still if they will torture their one time team mates.” He added, just enough inflection in his voice to sound troubled, worried perhaps for her safety should she choose to read it that way.

So close to the senshi he was focused on HER aura, on her mouth lest she chose to speak her attack, if she did it would be the last thing she did, yes it would start a fight but he would end that one fast enough.

Behind him though, one of those who had retreated had ‘other ideas’, ambitious ones. Having the drop on someone, even a powerful someone could make a world of difference. If they could but eliminate this one Officer, then what would people think of her, she’d have killed a General King.

The streets were dark and quiet, wet from the slush of snow trampled by countless footsteps. It was almost three in the morning, long past the time when bar-skanks had meandered their way home, and long before those with things to do during the day would wake to the smell of their automated coffee machines.

What might've been a peaceful, if chilly, neighborhood check for the Captain was derailed by the strong pull at her senses of power. It wasn't often that Howlite felt so much chaotic and ordered energy in her neighborhood at once, and that alone, warranted a look. It was impossible to tell, from afar, just how many of each there were, and the blonde wasn't the type to leave her teammates without backup.

She ran, her footsteps muted by slush instead of the usual hard pound of boot to pavement, as she drew near, the signatures became more pronounced, and she could feel one large chaotic presence, and... One... No... Two smaller ones? The close you were, the harder it got. She slowed, then, taking the time to peer around the corner, dark eyes quickly tracking and analyzing movement.

Zinkenite. She knew that musing tone, and he seemed relaxed, playing some mind game on a senshi, but-- There.

Movement caught her eye. The slow shifting of someone preparing to attack from behind a car. A streetlight made the metal of the tiara and belt on his uniform glint, and she recognized him as some type of order aligned senshi, who, from the set of his jaw, had plans for the General-King. He began to move, and that was all that the Captain needed to see.

Howlite's greatest strengths were technique practiced until it became reflex, and her lack of hesitation to go straight for a kill. It was not her place to debate ideology with the enemy, it was her job to neutralize them.

It was over quickly.

As her shielded gaze locked on him, Howlite teleported instantly, reappearing in front of him and taking his momentum into her own body with a hard strike to his solar plexus, stealing his ability to breath as her hand found her belt, freeing one of her explosives. Hit hit the cement with a bright flash, blinding those in the surrounding area as she followed through. A sharp jab to his temple sent him reeling, making his white vision go dark, followed by a solid punch to the adam's apple.

Clapping her hands over his ears, she tightened her grip to yank his head forward and down, jerking his body after it, and slammed her elbow into the niche between the base of his skull and the nape of his neck.

He dropped like a stone as she shoved him back, and Howlite didn't hesitate to follow through with the senshi who would already be losing consciousness. She took a knee, and slammed her hand into his chest, ripping out his starseed and sealing his fate even as the effects of her flashbang would be fading from the eyes of any who might've otherwise witnessed the attack.

Standing, the blonde stuck the starseed into one of her belt pouches, her gaze searching for Zinkenite and the location of the other senshi as she wiped her hands on her uniform and kicked a limp arm from her boot.

Adrenaline coursed through her veins as she shook her muscles loose, rolling her shoulders as they made eye contact.

"General-King," she acknowledged, lifting her chin slightly.

He and the senshi he had addressed before watched the carnage. The girl’s eyes were wide and shocked. There was no chatter in the fight, no toying or witty banter. It was short, brutal and efficient. Zinkenite’s gaze was more passive, calm and patient as though both accustomed and pleased to let another dispose of the duty. Detached like it was so very casual and ordinary though well executed. "Captain" he replied with a nod.

The senshi made a curious strangled sound somewhere between terror and rage, a thin and tinny wail that rose into a hoarse scream as she raised her hands to shout her attack. She'd left and hope of listening behind and Zink's patient poise turned exasperated. He vanished for a heart beat. It was a page torn from the Captains book when he appeared again behind the woman and swept her star seed from her chest. The spell, or magic the senshi had attempted to cast failed, the glow around her fingers vanishing as he pulled his hand free and stepped over her freshly toppled body with a shake of his head. "Pitty, I think she was actually listening at the end."

His gaze turned towards the body Howlite had created. "Very nice work." he said before scuffling his boot over the ground having just trod in blood or spittle.

"I'm sorry if I interrupted," Howlite's droll voice expressed a dry sort of amusement as her dark eyes swept over the form of her superior officer. His muscles were tense, tight with the control it must have taken to show no surprise or anxiety over both the assassination attempt and Howlite's execution of the senshi in question.

The blonde only glanced down to the female senshi's body once, as it hit the ground and lost all traces of glamour, to ensure that she was, in fact, dead, and no longer a threat. Her tone, then, became something firm, but quiet, as she confirmed, "We're clear, here, sir." Some might have said it was the captain's way of offering some form of comfort to the General-King, wrapped in a package of respect, and it may very well have been true.

"You've got the energy signature of a mack truck," She grinned, then, breaking the tension, "Did you know that?"

Some of the tension drained out of his shoulders but not all, just enough to let the mask crack and a laugh burst out at the description of his ‘energy signature.’ The corners of his eyes creased slightly with the sound. “It’s a bit like carrying a search light at all times.” He admitted. “Sometimes I do wish I could masquerade as a general the way the Senshi seem to be able to, perhaps it’s more honest this way.”

His voice perhaps a little taught, but measured at least. “You do excellent work Howlite. I mean that.” There was honest admiration unleashed in that praise, it flavored his words and the look in his eyes despite the thrumming tension that lingered in his shoulders and pose. “Thank you.” He glanced down at the would be assassin again and his eyes half lidded in thought, his fingers curled but didn’t close and he shook his hand out and looped a thumb over one of the lengths of chain around his waist.

“You’re out late as well, walk with me?”

"Of course," she accepted both his compliment and gratitude with a wave of her hand. Dispatching the enemy was her job, and though she took satisfaction in challenges and excelling, it was neither distressing nor pleasing to kill. It just was something that needed to be done.

"I'm always out late, sir," Howlite's bright smile flashed again, lighting up the dimly lit street, before she lifted a shoulder in a shrug. "You're in my neighborhood."

At his invitation, she raised her brows, and bent, gloved hands grabbing the clothing of both of their victims. Glancing up at him, she nodded, once. "I'd love to, in about a minute."

The captain blinked out of sight, presumably to do away with the bodies [in Negaspace, to be properly disposed of later], and reappeared only moments later. Scanning the street to be sure nothing had changed during her short absence, the blonde fell into step with the shorter officer.

“I could give some speech about how we used to have to haul bodies up hill through the snow both ways before staging accidents for them.” He said with a droll amused tone. He watched her in silence for a few moments, thoughts which he’d pass on to other people, thoughts for his own notes as well, sorting and measuring what it might be safe.

“So tell me, if you don’t mind, for as well as you’re doing, why haven’t you taken any lieutenants? Why are none assigned to report to you as their primary captain?” He looked curious at least rather than judgmental or scowling. Better to change the topic than dwell on ‘well gee that senshi nearly did some damage’.

"Permission to speak freely?" The captain waited for Zink's nod before continuing, her expression at ease. "I've had no real interest in teaching others until I felt I got a handle on things, myself," She laughed, running a hand across her short, pale hair. "I also don't recruit. It seems like most sort of gravitate toward whatever General recruited them, which I suppose makes sense, since that General is the one that saw potential in them in the first place."

She frowned. "I haven't seen much potential, myself. It'd take a particular sort of person to keep up with me." Of course, if Howlite was doing the recruiting... Well... That would be a different story.

The neon glow of a 24-hour diner made her stomach growl, and the captain put a hand to her stomach, mock-grimacing at Zinkenite. "Killing always makes me hungry." Anything and Everything made Howlite hungry.

"What do you say we ditch the uniforms and get breakfast?"

A soft laugh, amused but understanding, “It used to be we were assigned teams, it worked surprisingly well. Of course it would have been hard for me to report directly at all times to the man who recruited me.” He rolled his shoulder in a shrug; more or less glad it would have been hard. Times had changed and for the better he thought.

“Well, before the youma you ate breaks free let’s do get something, it’s been a long… ‘Day’?” He hesitated over the word realizing he’d lost track of how long he’d been ‘working’ today both as a civilian and as an officer. “I’ll pay for it.” He added to be civil, not so much to be a gentleman, it was just rather the least he could do.

"Sweet," Howlite might've fist-pumped, if she was feeling particularly flamboyant. The girl did love a free meal, even if she ahd the feeling that she had a lot more change to spare than her teenage companion.

Jerking a thumb toward a nearby alleyway, she ducked into it, planting a hand against the wall as she scanned the nearby area, looking to see whom might be watching. It was clear, and she quickly powered down.

Left in a winter jacket, with a sweater, button-up shirt, and tie underneath, above dark denim and a pair of brown boots, Kess Reever looked rather dapper for an agent of chaos and drug dealer. Raising her brows at the now altogether too-human Zac, she shoved her now chilled hands into her pockets until she got close enough to the diner to push open the door for them both.

"Was wonderin' what time you'd wander in here, Kess," The waitress was familiar with the blonde's nocturnal habits, and she smiled welcome to the two young people. "Let me get your friend a menu..."
