The mages in Kirkwall have escaped to Ferelden only to find themselves taken in by the Templars in the area and sent to the Circle Tower. United with even more mages, this larger group has now openly rebelled and many are on the run, save a few who have decided to stay withe Circle to either work for the Templars or to solve the problem peacefully. The First Enchanter has taken the role of being a spokesperson for the mages while Knight-Commander Greagoir has taken the liberty of standing for the Templars. Unfortunately, the Templars are torn between recapturing the mages or simply executing them all. All-out war is a very, very real possibility.

Can your group find a way to solve this problem before it gets out of hand? Or will Ferelden become a giant battleground between these two forces?

Unjustified, I was forced to lay among the filth, imprisoned...
Redcliffe, Tavern...
Within the realm of Arl Eamon, many who look to seek refuge away from the templars and mages come here, out of the way of the Circle Tower as it gives the mages no place to stay or hide. Mercenaries and wanderers hoping to take a break from the war huddle withing the tavern overlooking the village outside of the great castle where the Arl lives. Templars sometimes wander in to strike up bargains with mercenaries to bring in apostates and to track down malificarum, though it is a rare thing. Most templars would rather to do mage-finding themselves, seeing others as ill-equipped to deal with the magic-users. Within this tavern are a group of the oddest of sorts, who would have maybe glanced at each other once and thought none of it later. It was so quiet, everyone either drowning in ale or lay wasted in many areas not normally meant for people to sleep, while others quietly ate and refused drink, wanting to keep their senses sharp.

Darius was one of the latter, picking at small bits of a dish he ordered earlier. He never drank, he never knew when someone might recognize him and see him as the blood mage he was, and being intoxicated meant fighting for his life only got harder. When drunk, he would probably not even hesitate to expose himself to others anyway, so it was best to not take the chance. One does not live as an apostate at birth by being careless and vulgar.
Nor was it to say he ever wanted to. He personally never understood why people would numb themselves to life as they did. There was one time when he wasn't careful and he drank enough ale thinking it was water that his head started spinning. During the time of his drunken state, he couldn't concentrate, couldn't think straight, nor could he try to control himself. It was downright annoying and stupid to make yourself so defenseless and so willing to do things that get you in major trouble, and to top it off the hangover he got was something he never wanted to experience ever again, he would take an arrow to the knee before he got that bad of a hangover again.
He thought he heard someone whispering about a heist outside the window, but he assumed it was his imagination. Why would bandits be out here, the only place they could possibly be safe from the great war besides the far was? Wouldn't it be easier to pick off runaway mages or toll mass amounts of them to get past or keep silence about their whereabouts? Or did they think a room full of unhappy and relaxing warriors strong enough to travel through it all would yield greater rewards?
The fools. Men who use their hands to steal don't deserve any hands in the first place. You could make almost as much money with just as much work by doing a honest job, without the threat of severe punishment. For all Darius cared, the fate they got in prison or maimed was well-deserved and they should be happy they escaped with their lives.
Without warning, the doors to the tavern burst open to reveal men and women carrying swords and daggers, others hiding outside with bows and arrows. Darius leaped up from his seat to avoid the first slash, since he was closest to the door. He picked up the spear he used in place of his staff, deflecting a blow before spinning it to send the weapon into the air. The bladed end swept through the air and cut open the man's stomach, causing him to fall and be of no threat, unless you count slipping in his guts and blood a great hazard. He prepared to fend off more assailants as they ran in, tossing out bolts of lightning while more came in to attack the others in the bar.

A lithe figure sat atop of a rather intimidating bear. The curves of the slim silhouette suggested that the person was female. The woman was outfitted in green silk accented by navy armor and undergarments. An elven longbow rested on her back, still strung from a previous scuffle. The human woman descended the mountainside, approaching a Ferelden city she thought was called "Redcluck" A small, lighthearted chuckle released from her vocals, "zese Ferelden's certainly come up with silly names, no?" she asked her mount with an accent unfamiliar with the region and got an amused grunt in response.

The young woman released a small sigh of pleasure as a light breeze ruffled her loose light brown hair. With sunlight gleaming down upon her soft, pale skin she smiled widely. Her appearance and composure made it quite obvious she came from noble loins. Her eyes were heavily lashed, protecting her gorgeous sapphire blue eyes while they glided over a rather particular sight in the village hiding behind the mountains. As she and her trusted companion reached the village she became aware of a scuffle around what she would assume a tavern by the signs. All of her attention was directed there, she drew her bow, sliding an arrow into position against the string. She approached, not even trying to be quiet, unnoticed by the men and women gathering outside with their weapons, obviously trying to fight their way inside.

The foreigner saw what she thought were bolts of lightning being set off from inside the tavern. "A mage? Oh my... zat would explain ze commotion." she commented with her melodic accent. With a small shrug of her shoulders she let her first arrow fly. It's target was a full grown man with a greatsword, preparing to enter the tavern. Upon seeing one of their comrades fall, four of the attackers changed targets to the mysterious adventurer who dared interfere. The foreigner dismounted with ease before she nocked another arrow with surprising speed, pulling the string back with ease before sending the arrow on it's way, straight into the neck of a charging woman. The enemy fell quickly, blood already dribbling from her gaping mouth.

With a fierce roar, the foreigner's mount bounded towards the other charging opponents. Usually his owner wouldn't allow such a thing, but seeing her enemies outnumber her so she would not stop his fun. Nor did she have time to, for her bear had already pinned one man to the ground, sending the others running for cover. The woman had too much respect for the art of battle to laugh at her opponent's terror. instead she stood outside, picking off lingering archers while her bear roared ferociously. She figured he was announcing his victory, though it worked very well to startle those who weren't deafened by their adrenaline.

Unjustified, I was forced to lay among the filth, imprisoned...
Darius noticed the many bodies strewn around across the ground, all of them picked off by arrows. Who would have such accuracy, to be able to land so many killing blows? The Dalish, maybe? But then why would they even be her-
He spun in surprise when he heard the roar of a bear, forgetting that he was currently being attacked. It looked as if he were to be killed by his current foe, sneaking up behind him when the blunt end of a spear struck his knee, sending him to the ground, followed by a blow to the chin that made him look up. Darius finished his enemy by spinning back and swinging his spear, the sharp end cutting open the neck of the bandit. Blood sprayed everywhere, all over Darius, getting him soaked, sticky, and thoroughly pissed off.
The next man was unlucky enough to attack the opposite side of how Darius held his spear, as it enabled the mage to swing his weapon and cut down the man's legs. A women Darius never noticed up until now launched herself at him, daggers out, only to find herself petrified. Darius turned so the body would miss him and slammed his spear onto it, shattering it to pieces. He then launched a small ball of energy at a group of bandits, hitting one and making him explode, hurting the others severely but giving them similar effects of explosion. Luckily for the bandits, these ones didn't pass on any more explosive energy.
Darius growled at all the needless bloodshed, it was so pointless. It could easily have been avoided, but now Darius had to repay them men for their actions. He called out, "May you meet the blade of Justice, for he has more mercy than I hold!"
With those words, he continued his part in the fray.

Cassius Avitus

In a grimy corner of the tavern, a particularly lanky man paused from drinking his last two silver to identify whatever was important enough to interrupt his drink.
He studied the armed gang teaming up on the elf and searched his drowned mind for a possible reason for such a ridiculous scene.
"Bandits?" he muttered to himself, "Assassins? Mage hunters?"
Being physically exhausted and noticeably intoxicated, Cassius quickly weighed the risks and benefits of getting involved in a fight that wasn't his. He determined that it was an absolutely terrible idea, brushed the gin from his beard, and snatched the staff he had stashed under the table anyway.
Upon standing and gaining some semblance of balance, he fired wildly into the group of invaders, managing to set a pair of them ablaze along with a bar stool and a terribly gaudy painting of a woman riding a griffon through a field of oddly-colored flowers.
He instantly realized the disadvantages of trying to aim while drunk but abandoned his regrets to blast the woman behind him with a wave of ice, leaving her both injured and frozen.
"There you go," he assured himself, "Nice and steady. Stay focused. Not like we haven't done this before."
Adrenaline overtook dizziness as he used his new found competence to scan the area for more attackers.

The woman's gorgeously lashed sapphire eyes narrowed. Her bowstring stiffened as it was pulled back to it's maximum. Within a millisecond the bowstring snapped back into it's original semi-lax position, firing a single silver tipped arrow into an eye socket of .an archer at least ten yards away from the avid archer. Without realizing, she had been closed in upon, two men grabbed her arms from behind with such force she dropped her bow.

She was too calm to panic, instead she poured her adrenaline into focus. She growled, releasing fury as she was literally dragged backwards against the dusty dirt road, each men had one of her forearms, keeping her arms restrained from attacking. It wasn't her arms they should be worrying about. As if on que, she hopped to a squatting position, allowing her feet to push off the ground. She used the momentum to curve her body into a flip before she landed right side up. Her captors were stunned for a moment, that was all she needed to take advantage of the fight. She dropped down low, preforming a sweeping kick to the man which held her left arm. He released his grasp in shock, allowing her to use her freed arm for balance as she popped right back up. Her silverite boot shot straight up with her, shoving the middle of her foot right against his chin, forcing his head viciously back, falling away unconsciously.

She turned her attention immediately to the man she had only managed to trip, with a mixture of rage and adrenaline she literally stomped on his face, shattering his nose before walking away, back to her bow. A small huff of disapproval sounded from her as she watched her trusted mount crush his jaws around a woman's head. His strong fangs easily broke through her skull and it was rather a grotesque sight when he dropped her lifeless cranium to the ground before bounding off to find more squishy enemies.

To be completely frank, the wanderer wasn't too keen on entering the slaughterhouse tavern. So she may as well help out to the best of her abilities fending off any other attackers outside. Especially hearing a man shout out about some blade named Justice. 'Ferelden people name zeir weapons?... Curious...' she thought silently to herself while she dusted off her bow, keeping it drawn and pointed towards the high-points of the mountain, where the enemy archers seemed to hide.

Darius cut down one of the last bandits as efficiently as possible, leaving the rest to either run away or be cut down by some of the other mercenaries or wanders in the tavern. He put his spear to his side and picked up a glass of water, took a sip, then calmly placed it on the table as if nothing had happened. He took notice of the noble outside the tavern and wandered towards her, noting the bear that seemed to be protecting her. He yelled, "Hey, where did you learn to become a crack-shot archer like that? I always thought nobles just pretended to play hero, not try to actually be one."
He raised his left hand to his side and unleashed a bolt of lightning at a bandit trying to run in for a surprise attack, knocking her to the ground almost pathetically. He continued his pace towards the girl, even as a Templar started to stare at him with great interest. But the Templar was not just focused on Darius, he also took notice of the other mage in the tavern, freezing people, and the noble whom Darius' focus was on. He scratched his chin thoughtfully...

As soon as she realized that there would be no reinforcements she smiled softly. Her adrenaline vanished almost as quickly as it came. She whistled rather loudly, calling her long-time companion and summon. "Jacques~" she called with her orlesian accent at it's most noticeable. The bear, named Jacques came trotting right back to her, blood smearing his reddish-brown coat.

She was just about to comment on the gore before she felt herself being addressed. She turned with her bow slightly drawn with an arrow still nocked against the string. When the foreigner saw that the mage shoot lightning out of his hand she pulled the sting back more, only to loosen her muscles and face the bow harmlessly to the ground. Her brows furrowed as she replayed what he had just said to her.

"I am Skylark Vai. I learned ze majoritee of my skills from my mama. She has taught me many useful things." Sky responded with a slight nod. Her accented voice was dulcet, calm and collected, much as one would think a princess to sound. "I beg your forgiveness, I was not trying to be a hero, simply trying to assist those in an unfair fight." she said with an abrupt nod.

Her soft pink lips pursed together as she rose a gloved hand to move a strand of her wild brown hair out of her face. She glanced to a Templar which seemed interested in the aftermath of the scene was obviously unsure if he should follow his duty into try and capture the mages, which would be obvious suicide or to simply sit back and watch. Skylark's gaze turned back to the mage which approached her, "I hope I was not intruding on a personal fight?" she asked in a soft tone, obviously not wanting to step on his toes.

She was a foreigner, after all, unaware of the majority of the affairs going on. Though she did know very much about the mage-templar war and the aftermath of it, seeing as the majority of Orlais wished to take advantage of the fractured fractions and attempt to re-conquer Ferelden, against the Emperess' wishes. Regardless, she promised herself she wouldn't bring up her homeland's politics to this land.

Cassius Avitus

Regaining his precious sobriety, Cassius was just able to stumble out of the way of the bandit leaping at his back, gripping the table behind him. His oddly slender fingers searched for anything that could be a weapon and found his unfinished glass of cheap gin. He thrust it at his attacker, catching him off-guard and sending him stumbling backwards. He followed up his attack of the warm, bitter swill with another blast of fire, the resulting explosion re-igniting his enthusiasm.
He spun around to face more attackers, only to find the tavern almost completely void of life save for the dark-haired elf on his way out.
"Hey..." Cassius found himself denied answers to his curiosity and a good fight and was thuroughly frustrated. "Hey, wait!"
He gathered his things and left to follow the elf who was already long gone.
"Hessarion's Mercy, what was-" he stopped short as his eyes fell on the slender young woman and her companion. "Is that bear wearing armor?"
It was with this last sentence that he was certain that he must be more drunk than he thought and decided to simply observe until things started making sense.
