Sara was preparing to leave, it was strange how many affairs she had, all of which needed to be put in order before the end of the month. She had not really left Lunaria since she was brought here by her parents and only now was she realizing how much of a life she built. She had always thought of the farm as her home... yet now, she was starting to come to terms with the fact that this was more of a home to her. This is where she wanted to be, always.
Les was taking care of her home but there was one thing that needed constant attention, something she needed to leave with someone she could trust.
So naturally she was going to see Bataar.
Most of the time she dropped by Van was with him, though she had caught him alone a few times and she would be lying if she said she did not prefer those visits. She loved spending time with Van, but Bataar acted quite different when it was just the two of them, especially as of late for some odd reason.
The conduit made her way into his home, totally unannounced. His fellow Nobles did not like meeting him in a place where a soon-to-be Legion Captain resided. Thus Sara had gotten into the habit of not knocking, afterall what could she walk in on?
The little bundle squirmed in her arms, hidden under her white cape for now. She held it close, hoping that this would go smoothly...

Bataar had been lounging next to his actual bed upon a pile of furs, and was currently deeply involved in outlining an ambush scheme for a trip he was to make in about a weeks' time. He quickly stuffed the papers under the bed as he heard someone enter and stood abruptly, his surprise subsiding the moment he saw that it was Sara. The captain's shoulders relaxed and he strolled over to the soul conduit, pressing his lips briefly against hers. Affection, yes, and seemingly casual, but it was enough to make his heart beat uncomfortably fast.
Something had, after all, been wrong with him lately, or so it seemed. No doubt it was a side effect of his earlier illness, or so he liked to tell himself. Something was different today, though, because Sara had something that was quite clearly moving in her arms.
Bat was quick to aim a quick jab at the thing, and was startled to hear an alarmed "MEOW" emanating from it. "What the hell is that thing?" he asked, clearly uncertain as to why Sara would bring such a creature into his home. All things fuzzy melted the man's heart, but he was apprehensive about this particular thing.
Bat had, after all, never had a real pet before.

Sara knew Van was not in, even without looking around. The Captain never greeted her in such a way if there was a chance of him getting caught. It was a fact that Sara and Bataar were the only ones obvious to what was going on between them. The girl still insisted they were just friends, if not very affectionate ones. There relationship, in a nutshell was complicated, this why the conduit did not think about it. Thinking too deeply into things had gotten her in trouble before, so for now she was just going with the flow.
She looked up at him and pouted as he prodded the cat. She needed the two boys to get along or this was just not going to work, Sara flicked back the cape, holding the cat under its shoulders and letting the rest of its body dangle down.

"This is Khoonbish!" She exclaimed holding him up so the cat was on eye level with Bataar. Sara was bad at naming things... if Ghost and Kim were not the perfect examples of the fact then Bish made it obvious.
She pulled the cat back into a hug and tickled under his chin, Sara loved animals, the more pathetic and needy the looked the more motherly she was towards them. In other words, she took in every stray Lunaria had to offer and made sure they had a home. "I found him when he was a kitten wondering the streets and I have been taking care of him ever since, though I had to keep him at the temple because... Ghost eats cats." If it was alive and big enough to fill his belly Ghost would most likely eat it. The wolf's lust for blood and death was the only aspect Sara could not control, he was afterall a natural killer.
"Anyway now I am going away there is nobody to take care of him... I was hoping that he might be able to stay with you. He is not much trouble and he does not eat much. He just is not a cat who can make it out there in the harsh cold world..." She looked up at Bat with the largest most innocent eyes she could pull off, she really needed his help this time. She had spoiled the cat rotten, to the point where it could no longer fend for itself. "What do you think?"
Like it or not, she was not leaving till he agreed to take care of this cat.

The animal was obese, but that wasn't what Bataar saw. No, indeed. The captain instead saw a helpless creature, staring at him desperately, practically begging him to adopt. He could feel his biceps twitch a little as he struggled to restrain himself from hugging the fuzzy thing immediately. He must act like a man, and a grudging one at that. It would be too revealing if he embraced the little puff-ball right away.
"Sara, I don't have the time to take this on... I have to direct missions a lot lately." Van could take care of it while I'm gone. The Mongol quickly looked away from the animal, biding his time so as to seem as reluctant as humanly possible. The thing was, of course, just like a giant rat in Bataar's eyes, and he could see that it needed him. "Besides, I'm sure there are better people that you can go to about this," he muttered, crossing his arms. That poor thing needs me, damn it. The gaze that the animal was providing the captain with was clearly one of abject terror, but the man couldn't see that: all he could see was adoration, a potential life mate. What man needed a wife when he could have a cat for company?
Surely this was going to prove to be a better roommate than Van.
"I mean, maybe..."

"My heart bleeds." She mumbled as he exclaimed how busy he was, it was true he was a Captain, however if he had time to cage and care for Lunaria's population of vermin then one cat should not been that much of a burden. She raised an eyebrow and looked at him, trying to figure out the game he was playing. Sara knew that he -loved- animals. She could tell by the excited glint in his eye which emerged when he saw the little fluff-ball and in truth found the fact that he had failed to see the cats terror as adorable. He really was oblivious at times.
Sara quinced as she felt claws stick into her arm, as if the cat was begging her not to let it go. Cat's were not the most adaptable at creatures and this new place was enough to send the spoiled feline into panic mode. The conduit did her best to keep a straight face and quickly put the animal on the ground. The cat remained perfectly still for a good couple of seconds and then tentively went to explore his new home. Sara tilted her head and rested a hand on her hip, pale eyes watching her cat before her attention went back to the captain. If she could not tug on his heartstrings, then maybe all out flattery and charm would win him over (too bad she did not posses any of the latter). "I am sure if you can find enough time for -me- you can find time for Bish" Her voice was gentle, her eyes large and innocent and her finger slowly ran up and down his folded arm.
She was not leaving until he agreed to do this one thing for her.
She edged closer to him, tilted her head to direct his attention back towards the obese creature. "But Bataar there is nobody I trust more than you, I need a strong, handsome man to keep him safe whilst I am gone." The cat had wondered into the fur's that remained on the floor, sharp nails tugging and pulling. He looked back over at the two before curling up into the nest it had made. The stress of the situation was too much, thus he decided to get comfy and sleep. Sara rolled her eyes at it, such a typical man. All that cat did was sleep, if it spent anymore time with its eyes closed she would think it dead. None the less she loved him, he was her stray, her kitty.
She stepped away from the large man, her hand running across his back as she moved over to the cat, threatening to disturb his comfort and pick him up, however for now she left him be - she had a sneaking feeling Bataar would change his mind. "But if you do not want him... I guess I will find someone who will." She sighed, reaching down and tickling behind the animals ear, almost immediately he began to purr loudly. She looked back over to Bataar, tilting her head to one side, her scared face flashing for just a moment. "It is a shame, he seemed to like you and I would have been very grateful. but if you are really that busy." Her eyes dated back down to the cat, she was trying her best not to laugh.
She had him. She was sure of it.

Bataar had been working long-term now on being a lot less readable, but it was sometimes hard, especially in the face of small animals. He stared the thing down, chewing on his lower lip for a little while, his green eyes narrowing. Sara was trying to convince him of something that he'd already convinced himself of, and it was more than likely that Bat was just about to welcome the cat with open arms, but there was also the question of logistics. All he was really doing while he was pretending to deliberate was figuring out where exactly the cat would sleep, and where he'd put its litterbox, and how often he'd let it outside.
Khoonbish, in short, already belonged to Bataar Jaoret. He watched the cat, looking agitated, knowing that Sara wasn't going to leave until she'd gotten his full agreement to take the animal in and care for it as if it were a helpless little infant. "Fine." His words were sparing, but the deal was, in effect, made. He would take in the cat more enthusiastically than he was letting on, but then there would also be the matter of telling Van... and, well, he'd get Sara to do that bit.
"But you have to tell Van," he said, smirking. Even if Van and Sara were friends, the soul conduit would probably realize that this wasn't the best of scenarios that he was forcing her into. There was no way that Van would be pleased with another creature tearing around the house, in any case, especially not if it was going to pledge allegiance to Bataar.
Another thing that struck him, however, was that this was all part of Sara's preparation to leave, in order to become a priest. He took her by the forearm and pulled her in a little, before giving her an awkward one-armed hug. "How long until you leave, again?" Bat asked, pulling away abruptly and strolling over to the cat in order to scoop the furry blob up. He was doing his best to ignore the claws penetrating his bicep at this point, and making an effort to pay a little more attention to the cat as opposed to the soul conduit.
Things would be different once she left, and he didn't know that he was entirely comfortable with the changes that they'd both be dealing with.

"That is not a problem, I have my ways.." Sara smirked, pale eyes looking to the side somewhat mischievously. She had Van wrapped around her little finger, as did most younger siblings. Bataar was the only challenge (and that had not proved to be much of one at all). So it was now almost a certainty, Bish had a foster family to care for him whilst she was in the North. That was good, it was one less thing for her to worry about, If she had to leave, she wanted to make sure everything she loved was waiting for her when she returned.
As fickle and clingy as Bataar accused the conduit of being, he was becoming the same. Sara had seen a change in him, ever since she had delivered news of her leaving. He often accused her or sending mixed messages and now he was committing the same offence. At the moment, he was incredibly hard to read and this unsettled her. She was putting her affairs in order, yet this was one she was unsure about. Where did she actually stand with the Captain? Maybe that was a question best left for when she returned, as for now, she saw nothing wrong with returning his affection and his signals. What was a little fun before she was whisked away to some sacred land?
Ghostly orbs watched him as he wondered away from her to play with the cat. She knew he would fall for the fuzzball the moment he clamped eyes on him, however now the Mongol seemed to be directing most of his attention towards it now - maybe he liked animals more than she thought, or maybe he was doing it on purpose. "Hmm." She thought for a moment, days were running away from her, she had so much to do - it sometimes felt he would miss one if she blinked. "Just over a week I think, a week and a half at most. Though they could be some delays, the path might still be unacceptable because of the snow, though I would not really count on that, from what I hear the winter has been gentle." She nodded, thinking that answer was totally acceptable. It suddenly seemed so close, could time have really flown by so quickly? Her stomach knotted and she moved uncomfortably.
"Then, with any luck, I will be back come next summer. Though again, the snow might keep me there a little longer... or I might need some extra training. I have never been the fastest of learners, but I am going to try my best - the quicker I master the arts, the quicker I can return - and the quicker I get to see you again." She gave a soft, but sad, smile. Wandering slowly over to stand near him, close enough to see the white marks on his skin where the cat was holding on. She put a hand on the animals head, raising her other to stoke the braid which always seemed to be resting on the behemoths shoulder. "I will miss you. You know that, right?" The answer was obvious, but she wanted to say it - for whatever value it held.
