The world seemed a better place now that the sky had returned. Light flooded through windows during the day and in the evening it was possible to watch the stars. Infinite numbers of them glittering from the black sky. Cosine loved to watch them, it was a novelty after so long trapped in a stone and then the blackness of a world without the universe.

During the day she liked to sit on the balcony of either her or Ankou’s rooms and feel the warmth on her skin. She was glad she had taken Ankou up on his suggestion to wait before setting out on their journey. It had taken her a couple of days to get used to her new form and of course there had been things happening. The council had been formed and of course the sky.
Smiling to herself she wandered down the hallways of mysterious doors, her bare feet almost silent on the floor, the light fabric of her long dress swishing as she moved. In her arms she had some cookies she had made and a couple of notebooks which she had scribbled some mathematical problems and rhymes.

Her feet stopped outside the door to Echo and Nergal’s rooms. She was taking a gamble on her friends, no, family being home. She was prepared to not be recognised. It had been a long long time since she and Echo had had the time to relax and enjoy each other’s company.

Click to show.Cosine wasn't the only one who enjoyed the return of the sky - so she could easily gather once Alto answered the door and let her inside - the glass ceiling that covered the garden was fully open, allowing a striking view of the newly-remade sky as well as fresh air inside.

And Cosine would also notice that she wasn't the only one to have changed, through Music was definitively recognizable, she was also definitively very different.

...And at the moment, was sitting amid the roses and bushes, tweeting a little song back at the blue jay who had taken her finger as a perch.

User ImageCosine held her presents and stepped through the door as she was admitted to the familiar rooms. She could feel the fresh air, smell the scents of the garden and hear the bird singing happily. It was almost as though the terrible times had not happened ... almost.

She stepped out into the garden and stopped, dead at the vision she saw before her. Echo, that was obvious, but she was not the Echo she had once known. The goddess looked magnificent. Music had returned.
"It seems we are different each time we meet." She relished the feel of the cool floor on her feet as she stepped forwards. "You look very well."

"It seems so." It wasn't long before Echo was up, and from there, stepped toward Numbers to hug her. "Through you'll have to forgive me if I am not too bothered by your changes..." No, it was a good thing, a good thing indeed, to see Cosine as she was now - truly herself. "How have you been ?"

Cosine laughed a little and nodded.
"bothered? I think I must be the least intimidating goddess in the pantheon. I evolve but I do not grow." She placed her gifts on one of the benches and gestured to her form.
"I have been well, very well actually. I am feeling ... liberated and refreshed. optimistic perhaps with the return of the sky and the election of the council." She looked up at her friend. "How have you been? It has been a long while since we last met. How are the children?"

Some things simply did not chance. "I've been training Elizabeth... She's a bard that had come to me recently. She settled in quite nicely." And had a lovely voice. She just needed to learn how to use it to it's full extent...

"They are doing well. Getting more independent by the day, it seems. They do grow so fast..." A note of nostalgia made itself known in her voice, now. "Akakios has been working on restoring the library with Endiovar. Sotiris is getting in trouble as always, and Crys' getting really good at cooking. Not that it's hard to outdo me." The goddess laughed.

Cosine smiled warmly at Echo's words. It was easy to listen to her soft, musical voice, she was quite sure she could listen to it all day. The thought of Echo cooking took her back to watching the world through Lien's eyes. Sitting in Echo's kitchen in the house that most likely did not exist any more.

"I must hunt them down. I've missed singing rhymes and playing number games. Though, I suppose they must be getting too old for such things." She looked to the books she had brought with her. "I brought some exercises for them. Some puzzles and problems." She gestured to the books. "Cookies too, not cooked by me I add, so they are quite safe."

I am sure if you promise Akakios that you'll teach him something new he'd follow you everywhere you want." The was an amused chuckle. Her youngest would never change, and in a way probably would never be satisfied.

She was leading Cosine back deeper in the gardens, to a lovely bench where they could sit. Alto was bound to return soon with tea, as what his usual when guests came over.

"Who knows, maybe the cookies will lure some of them out ?" She pondered out loud.

"These gardens are beautiful." Cosine smiled as she picked up her things and followed Echo further into the gardens. They really were beautiful.
"I have some rooms now too." She said with a bit of a smile. "No garden but a view of the pantheon gardens. There's a nice atrium." She took a seat on the bench and opened the lid on the tin the cookies were in. "There, bait set."

Music was quick to snatch a cookie for herself, before anyone else could descent to take them. "I would love to see them, sometime. You will have to show me." Through... Did that mean her and Ankou... ?

Ah, no, She'll let Cosine speak. And she seemed perfectly happy, so...

Cosine watched with a smile as Echo helped herself to the cookies, she had made them for her and the children after all. The Aoide too if there were any left.
"They are very nice, though, It was a bit of a hard decision to make." She confessed, regarding her rooms. "I know I have a home with Ankou, though ... He is away so often it feels a little awkward there sometimes. Also, there is no way for people to seek me if they do not know that I share with him. No mark of mine on the door and I did not want to be presumptuous and request one." She smirked a little. "It's not like there are children or anything like that. So I have a space of my own, the rooms are joined within by a hallway. When he is home I will likely stick to his rooms. Or drag him to mine." She laughed a little and poked her bare toe at the ground.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show."Oh ?" The interest escaped before Cosine could explain fully, but she forced herself to be good and silent as she elaborated. Oh. good that nothing wrong had happened, after all, and her worries were lifted.

"Depends on which one is more comfortable." Echo said, amused. Ankou had never been a master of interior decoration - she was very well aware of this.

"Are you... thinking about it ?" The question escaped in spite of itself, a glimmer of mischief in her eyes. "Children, I mean ?" Ankou would make a good father, if a bit spotty in attendance - she'd seen it, in the way he'd played with Sotiris, explored with Lacrymosa, or patiently listened to Akakios' recitations.

And well, she certainly wouldn't mind being in the aunt shoes at all - to be able to spoil and love freely some bright new lives who had not yet grown old enough to start to distance themselves a bit...

User ImageEcho's question caught the Number goddess off guard. It was a logical question of course but not one she had anticipated. She felt herself flush a little and opened her mouth to say something. She wasn't really sure how to answer, so paused a moment.
"I ... um, I'm not sure. We've certainly never discussed it. I think it is somethig I would like. I enjoy being around children." She shrugged. "Ankou likes them too I think, he is certainly good with his niece and nephews. It's not all that easy though is it. There are not many natural born gods and goddesses."

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Oh, Echo wasn't the least bit sorry. Not at all. She simply waited patiently until she got an answer, tailstrings waving in the grass much like a contented feline might have waved it's own tail about.

"It does seem to be a rate occurrence indeed... I know of Wind and Hunt's." Through she had seen neither in so long... "And Water seems to have children as well, through I do not know with who." Of if with anyone at all, through the concept of making little lives by her lonesome had never been one she'd really thought about for herself.

"He'd make a good father. Perhaps not by mortal standards, but his heart's in the right place." Even if it sometimes looked like he was trying hard to hide it...

User ImageCosine nodded in agreement.
"Lien met Hunt's child. Suffocation." She smiled a little. "She was an interesting young goddess." That was all a lifetime ago, she was most likely grown now. It was amusing really. The immortal children of gods took no time to grow and the mortal children took years. At Echo's statement she nodded and smiled warmy.
"Yes, he has a very good heart. I think for anyone it's not the ammount of time that you spend with people that is important, but how you spend that time. There are fathers that see their families every day and hardly acknowledge them. It makes me happy when he is home, like now. I look forward to going back to our rooms and pestering him. As I am sure the more he grows the more distant he will become? There will be more work to be done."
