Name: Teng Xiong (滕 香)
Country: China
Period: ~2300s
Age: 32
Reason for Joining LOTUS: Unlike most of her peers, Xiong's initial reason for joining LOTUS has nothing to do with altruism; she was actually quite happy with the state of things in China before her secret was discovered. Over the course of time, she will discover that she desires sweeping societal change in her home nation which is only possible in a world in which time is restored. In her grand plan of remaking China into a nation which allows people like her to exist, she views restoring time as the first step.
Current Job: As a new recruit, Xiong is still working towards finding a place where she fits as a member of LOTUS. Her duties currently involve nothing more personally strenuous than getting to know the complex.
Strengths: Disguise, diplomacy, hand-to-hand combat, mathematics, fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese, attentive to detail
Weaknesses: Unable to read or write English, overly aggressive, weapons-based combat, difficulties conceptualizing/looking at the "big picture", has difficulty understanding English spoken with a strong accent, not very curious, easily irritated.
Personality: She's a great actress and a better deceiver, but when she's not pretending to be someone else she's generally very poker faced. She takes all of her responsibilities very seriously, and if she feels she's being disrespected she will react. Xiong doesn't want to tolerate slip-ups or youthful antics; she's very stubborn and self-controlled. It's almost impossible to amuse her enough to make her smile or coax out a visible frown. Only she has shitty coping mechanisms, and this leads to her bottling up everything she feels until it explodes out into a terrible deluge of hatred and distress and rage. When she does, though, she dredges up anything that she thinks will help her cause--AN Y THING. No matter how long-settled. She always has to be being useful and accomplishing something; asking her to wait patiently is like asking for fire not to burn you. As soon as a situation comes up she wants to plan, and until she has a plan she will be bitchy and irritable.
She enjoys the privilege and security her disguise as a eunuch brought her, but sometimes she struggled with feelings of jealousy and still does. Sometimes, not often, but this can cause her to be short with anyone that is biologically male. She is incredibly possessive of her friends, and gets jealous when they associate with others. She won't forgive any slight, no matter how minor, although she tries to keep personal and private life separately.
Despite being born after the fracture of time according to her personal timeline, she is disturbed, even haunted by the idea that something so puerile and common, yet massive and majestic, as time could be destroyed by human hands. She often spends time ruminating over what it must have been like for people who were born before time fractured, bolstered by half-recollections of her mother's stories of the world in 2263 before Time broke. Her imaginings are often horrific.
Xiong uses her calmness as a knife to test those around her. Those she cares about are subject to barbs both verbal and resulting from her actions; she tests people to ensure that they care about her, not just for what she brings them.
