About
Welcome to Magical Battle Arena's Quest Subforum's Series Guidelines. In MBA, you can make your own mage and they can come from whatever series, in the system, you want. Here, I have compiled the guidelines to creating a character from any of these series. That way, you can look at them and know exactly what to do to make yours fit into that series.

Blanket Statements
Unless a series specifically states something to the contrary, these apply.
User Image Everyone in the civilian stage has at least a given name and a family name.
User Image On the series guidelines, if the name is n/a, then it means there aren't any guidelines for it and if the weapon is n/a, then it means that kind of mage doesn't use a weapon.
User Image Magic can be offensive, defensive, supportive, or healing. Basic Moves can only be offensive magic. Healing magic can only be used for Ultimate or Desperation Moves.

Forms
After you have checked out the guidelines, you'll be ready to start questing. Just pick whatever forms apply to you, fill them out, and post them in a new thread in this forum.

If you don't already have the art, then use this and whatever series form you plan your civilian stage to become. If anything changes between the stages, then specify that on the form. You don't have to fill out everything. Just do it to the best of your ability.

User Image

General
User Image There are two types of this kind of magical girl/boy, Clow Reed's followers and Sakura Kinomoto's followers. Reed's draw their magical powers primarily from the sun and moon, while Kinomoto's mostly rely on the stars.
User Image Incantations, magical circles, and weapons are used. Incantations are used to cast spells and activate & deactivate magical items. Their magical circles are based on either Clow Reed's or Sakura Kinomoto's.
User Image Some have Guardians that can help them in certain kinds of battles.

User Image n/a

Moves
User Image They use magical items and/or channel their magic through weapons.
User Image The magical boy/girls that use cards do not use the Clow/Sakura Cards. They use their own cards, which were created through a similar process.
User Image The magical boy/girls who have a wand for weapon can make it go into a smaller, dormant form when not in use.

Weapon
User Image They use wands or real world weapons.

Appearance
User Image Hair and eye colors are natural colors in both the civilian stage and the magical boy/girl stage.

General
  • They get their powers from any piece of art. Unless the art comes in pieces, like Auguste Rodin's The Gates of Hell, there is only one mage per piece of art.
  • Their magic is most similar to wild magic, which is powerful, but hard to control. Because of this, they use magic without the aid of incantations, magical circles, or weapons.

Name
  • The magical girl/boy stage is usually named after the piece of art the mage got their powers from. Only those who got their powers from art that comes in pieces can have names different from them.

General
  • They're the jack of all trades of magi. The only requirements are that technology must be incorporated into their moves, weapon, or appearance and that their moves should fit their theme.
  • Each magical boy/girl has a theme that they base all their moves on. For example, Nowel's theme is darkness and Lulu's is drills, so all of their moves revolve around those respectively.
  • They can use incantations, magical circles, and weapons.

User Image Puellae Magi/Pueri Magi (I don't know Latin. If those don't mean girls of the mage/boys of the mage, then please correct me.) get their powers by making a wish to and entering a contract with an Incubator to fight Demons.
User Image They all have Soul Gems that house their souls. They can control their bodies within a 100 meter radius. Outside that range, their bodies are empty shells. If their Soul Gems are destroyed, they die. The Soul Gems turn into rings with their names on it in the civilian stage and into accessories, like hairpins, in the magical girl/boy stage.

Name
User Image The magical girl/boy stage is named like this: Puella/Puer Magi (Insert name here) Magica.

Moves
User Image Their powers relate to the wish they made. For example, someone who wished to heal someone may end up with healing magic.

Weapon
User Image They use real world weapons, but they can have fantastical designs, like a ribbon gun, scorpion pole-arm, or rose bow and arrow.

Appearance
User Image All hair and eye colors are acceptable for both stages, but nothing can change from one stage to the other.
User Image Their uniforms' main color is the same color as either their hair or eyes.

General
User Image They can use incantations and weapons.
User Image While they may have weapons, they primarily use magic. It's one of their specialties.
User Image Their other specialty is teamwork. While they do well in one-on-one battles, they excel in team battles.

User Image The magical girl/boy stage is named like this: Sailor (Insert name here), Senshi of (Insert sphere here).
User Image Sailor Senshi are named after anything natural in space and only one person can have that name.
User Image The sphere can be anything in nature and only one person can have that sphere.
User Image The name and sphere must relate. If you think their relations aren't apparent, then explain them.

Moves

User Image Mews get their powers from the planet and what living things they represent.
User Image Mews lose their powers if the living things whose DNA they have are no longer at least threatened. If this ever happens, the user who owns that Mew will get a prize.
User Image They can use incantations and weapons.
User Image Mews represent and have the DNA of 0-2 living things that are at least threatened. Each living thing can only have one representative.
User Image Mews with the DNA of 0 or 2 living things don't have Mew Marks. Every other Mew has a Mew Mark at his/her injection site.
User Image Mews with the DNA of living things can turn into them. If they have the DNA of two things, they don't turn into chimeras; they turn into one thing at a time of their own choosing. For example, someone with Iriomote Wild Cat and Humboldt Penguin DNA can turn into a cat if they want to or a penguin if they want to. They won't turn into a cat with flippers and wings.

Name
User Image Mews' magical girl/boy stage are named like this: Mew (Insert name here). Names can't repeat.
User Image Mews' civilian stage given names are identical to their magical boy/girl name. They're named after any fruit, vegetable, herb, spice, or dish. Never baked goods.

Moves
User Image They have innate powers of the living things whose DNA they have.
User Image They can use their innate powers no matter what, but if their weapons are taken away, they can't use magic.

Weapon
User Image They can use anything as a weapon.
User Image Their weapons are named after their namesakes and match their uniforms.
User Image Weapons either have their leader's Mew Mark or their own Mew Mark on them. If a weapon comes in parts, like a pair of castanets or daggers, one will have the leader's mark and the other the owner's.
User Image Mews with the DNA of 0 living things have weapons imbued with Mew Aqua, so they don't have any offensive magic.

Appearance
User Image If hair and eye colors are a natural color in the civilian stage, then they can change color in the magical girl/boy stage. Hair styles can change and accessories can be added.
User Image Mews' uniforms must have at least one of their colors match their namesake. For example, Mew Pudding's uniform is cream and brown, because pudding comes in those colors. Here are some elements you can think of for yours. You don't need everything. These're just ideas based on pre-existing uniforms:
Hat
Choker
Armbands
Garter
Gloves
Tops
Bottoms
Shoes
Living thing parts (like ears, tails, wings, branches, leaves, flowers, etc.)

Resources
The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species
This is an extremely useful website if you're stuck on what your Mew to represent. It lets you search for endangered living things and there's even an advanced search if you're interested in certain animal/plant phylums/divisions. If you're searching for living things here, then you can use anything from NT to EX. If you do choose something from EX, then it has to have gone extinct from human activity. Any other reason wouldn't fit the Mews' theme.

Taken Names/Living Things

Ichigo (Strawberry)/Iriomote Cat
Mint/Blue Lorikeet
Lettuce/Finless Porpoise
Pudding/Golden Lion Tamarin
Zakuro (Pomegranate)/Gray Wolf
Ringo (Apple)/Humboldt Penguin
Berry/Amami Black Rabbit
Berry/Andes Mountain Cat
