Super Sailor Remarque had spent the vast majority of his time gathering energy alone, and after a few recent run-ins with senshi, he was left feeling a bit bitter towards the white moon. He had played his part in the Dark Mirror Court diligently, but after the energy gathering, after the careful manipulation of some of the weaker willed senshi, after the scuffles and battles, he was taking a break.
Not a bigbreak, but just a social one. He had invited Lesath to come gather energy with him at the park they’d started out it. It was still chilly, but it seemed like a good excuse to spend time with his girlfriend and appreciate the fresh snowfall before it was gone. He had gone through great efforts to set up for the evening—he’d taken a romantic approach. He had prepared dinner for the two and packed it up in a quaint little picnic basket, taken candles and lit them by the fountain, and set everything up in a nice, romantic display. And after they had eaten their fill, he’d take her out for a pleasant stroll to gather energy, and then maybe he’d invite her back to his place…
It was cold as hell at the house. He’d have loved someone to curl up, and damn it, he had to get her away from that little dog.
He had arrived early so he could light the candles and set up the display, and he still had five minutes before the rendezvous time, so set about primping and preening. Just because the scene looked good didn’t mean he could get away with not looking his best.

Lesath made sure she was at least a few minutes early and gave a little frown. That power signature wasn’t one that felt like Jetts use to…but…but this is where he said to meet, and it was a chaotic aura…
So even if it wasn’t Jett, it wasn’t someone unfriendly. She walked up towards the fountain and blinked, a slow smile forming on her face. How lovely! There were candles everywhere…and what looked like a picnic basket. The smile only continued to grow. Huh. Something like this, something sweet and romantic…it could even push away the thoughts of her stupid short hair. She had gotten it cut after Ambrosia had gotten a bunch of honey stuck in it…
Her face was covered in shallow cuts as well, from the feathers that that eternal sailor had sent at her. In short, Lesath was just slightly worse for wear, but…this was a big step in the whole direction of cheering up.
“J…Uh, Remarque?”

Remarque glanced over at Lesath, small smile on his face. It fell quickly when he noticed her hair. It took everything in his power not to blurt out, ‘My God, what is that abomination growing out of your skull?’ He once more sported a smile, however forced it may be. “Lesath,” he greeted. “…You’re early. What’s with the new haircut?” he prompted.
It wasn’t like she needed his permission or anything before cutting her hair, but it was a change he absolutely hadn’t been expecting. Raven loved her hair, so why she’d shorted the gorgeous golden locks, he had absolutely no idea. He hadn’t failed to notice that her hair was now shorter than his—a concept he wasn’t quite pleased against. No one wanted to have longer hair than their girlfriend, so he was immediately questioning if he should be next in line to get a few inches cut off.
He gestured to the display, inviting her over wordless. It was almost difficult not to stare at her hair; he had only ever seen her with long hair, so the change was rather surprising.

The smile faded as quickly as it had come and once more she fell into a very grumpy mood. “Well thanks for noticing. Some chibi senshi brat threw honey at me and it sliced off a huge chunk. It looked terrible and the stylist turned it into this short…masterpiece.” She was clearly not happy, though just shrugged.
“What about you. You have sleeves now…and…you feel a lot stronger than you did last time…What’s the deal?”
He had gotten stronger…why was that? What did he have that she didn’t? If she got stronger…then she could really give that little honey brat the beat down that she deserved.
“I want to get stronger too, Jett. Tell me how you did it.”

Remarque blinked. At first he considered teasing her for letting a chibi best her and damage her precious hair, though he wasn’t the sort of person to throw salt on the wound. Well. Not tonight, anyway. He was still intending to try and convince her to spend the night at his place. “Right place, right time,” he said, deciding against a usual snarky retort. “Guess I drained so much energy that some of it rubbed off on me. And I guess I got into my fair share of fights, so chasing off enough senshi must have finally added up to something. Don’t know,” he said, perhaps rushing away from the topic a bit. “Anyway, I made dinner, so how about we put our energy towards eating instead of just running our mouths, hmm?”

Lesath shrugged, then looked at the food. She thought for a long moment, then glanced around. Looking to Remarque once more the blonde gave a smirk. “Fight me. Fight me, Remarque. I want to get stronger too. I want to be able to take anyone and everyone down that approaches me. You gave me lessons once before, so give me some now. “
She took a step forward then stretched for a moment.
“Or are you afraid of me and my crazy short hair. I guess it’s not too awful. I mean. I miss it. But…Whatever. Come on. Come at me, Remarque.” She wanted to prove that she could indeed do something. Or at least maybe he could teach her something new so she could manage to get stronger as he had.

Almost immediately, Remarque frowned. Raven was clearly out of her damned mind--even more so than usual. "Now, hold on a minute. There is a huge difference between giving you lessons to defend yourself and telling me to fight you. I mean, powers aside--not to mention that mine are stronger than yours right now--I'm a boxer. I've been in fights before. I've beaten guys to bloody pulp. I've sent them to the hospital."
He didn't even so much as take up a defensive posture, just stood off to the side slightly, once more looking at the food. Sure, there was something admirable about a girl that would much rather fight than eat, but Jett had worked hard on this meal--and Raven was never going to be want to come back to his place if she lost a fight to him--even if he had the upper hand in every aspect.
It was clear that he wasn't too keen on the idea of his girlfriend challenging him to a fight; he wasn't scared by any means, just somewhat stunned by her ambition. "...It's really going to turn this into an awful date if I end up mirror walking you to the emergency room, Raven. Don't pick a fight with me if you're not in the mood to lose.

Lesath let out a laugh. “Well…we’ll have the date after the spar, okay? I just…I don’t want to disappoint you by being a weak girlfriend. You deserve the best. And I’m going to be the best. Both for you and for my own pleasure. I deserve to be the best, so I’m going to make myself that way. And you’re going to help.”
She smirked. “Now. I’m going to practice my attack on you, okay? You ready for this, Remarque? Don’t want to give you a headache or anything. “
The senshi drew in a breath. “Moth Scream.” She focused, and tried her hardest to aim the attack right to the super senshi. She didn’t want to drive him away…but she wanted to prove herself. Completely. And she figured…this would help.

Remarque had been unfortunate to have been within the five foot radius her attack encompassed. He had been unfortunate to not expect it—mouth still half opened to protest that they could spar after the meal—when the wretched screech met his ears. He cringed, head throbbing after only a second of the noise, and reached to clamp his hands over his ears.
He wasn’t going to stand there and suffer from it—or let his girlfriend have the upper hand for very long. His attack was useless since holding her frozen wasn’t going to do anything, so instead he bolted towards her—braving the severity of the scream head on—so he could kick out her legs.
He tried to be gentle—for Raven—but when suffering from a noise so god-awful, maybe he kicked her in the back of the knees a little stronger than necessary.

The kick caused Lesath to stumble forward and she nearly lost her balance, wobbling for a moment, before trying to throw her weight backwards to compensate.
It was a good plan in theory, but in practice all it did was have her land rather hard on her a**. She grumped, then flung herself back up, striking what she thought was a good stance and swinging her hand at Jett, hoping to strike him, as he had taught her back up in space. Though, this time it wasn’t a matter of life and death, just one of pride.
She hadn’t anticipated the fall though, and some snow had gotten into her boots, making her legs rather cold, a slight shivering taking over as she held her stance.
That didn’t matter though. She had to win. She had to get stronger.

Why Lesath thought she could win, Remarque would never know. His own arrogance and self confidence told him that he had this in the bag, and there was no reason to continue it, but if Lesath wanted to spar, fine. He wasn't going to chicken out just because his ears were ringing and his head was throbbing and the dinner he'd made them was getting cold.
He was still disoriented from the Moth Scream and Lesath's fist collided with his jaw. His response to this this was to swing his left hand, balled into a fist, into the hollow beneath Lesath's arm, trying to discourage her from throwing another punch

Lesath grunted when the fist slammed into her armpit and wrinkled her nose. That hurt, and she was rather glad she had her sleeve poofs to absorb at least some of the blow. Well…Punching was out, so…
She swung her leg around, aiming for Jett’s ankles, hoping to trip him up some, if it didn’t work, well, then they’d eat and continue on with their date. That was the reason she was there after all. But if she could bring him to the ground, she would figure that this stupid sparing had been worth it, that would be a really good feeling.
Though it was always a good feeling to triumph over someone stronger than you. Even if that just so happened to be your boyfriend.

Jett’s history as a boxer had given him phenomenal skills with his fists—and his feet. Lesath was fighting dirty, though, and he was still shaking his head to try and dismiss the remaining ringing in his ears. Her foot collided strongly with his ankle, and knocked one leg off balance—he was able to save himself by hopping on the other foot, but the disorientation from her attack was making it really hard to focus.
So he did the logical thing. He gripped Raven’s arm to try and balance himself. If it worked, he stayed up right. If it didn’t, at least he wasn’t going down alone.

Well, he didn’t end up going down alone, and Lesath tumbled down on top of him, looking down at the other blonde for a moment before laughing and placing a kiss on his cheek.
Well, her plan had worked to a degree, and it was pretty fun. She felt more relaxed now then she had in the past few days, though that just might have been from Jett being there.
“You know, Remarque. I have to admit, you might be the very best boyfriend ever. Though, I shouldn’t say that because I know you don’t need to have your ego fed anymore. But, thank you. And let’s eat. I’m hungry now. It all looks beautiful. Thank you, for being so thoughtful.” She got up then stretched, going to the picnic basket and sitting down, turning her gaze back to him, waiting for him to join her.

Thoughtful? He had tried to knock her down and punched her under the arm. He had thought about going for her face, but the last thing he wanted was for people to think he was an abusive boyfriend or something. Raven didn’t seem shy about aiming for the face. As long as he didn’t start to bruise, he was sure he’d be able to forgive her.
“Yeah, yeah,” he grumbled, sitting up. He shook his head once more and rubbed at his cheek. “…Glad you are not on the other side, Rave. Don’t think I could handle that every time I ran into you.”
The evening hadn’t gone how he’d planned but as he sat down across from Raven, he flashed her a small smile.
There was still plenty of time to make tonight worth it.
