Jael didn't seem to properly appreciate her beauty and rarity and it upset Maysa. His lack of admiration toward only disrespected her deceased family that had been as beautiful as she hence why the poachers had hunted them down. Why they had continued to search her out even after she'd been able to escape. Oh, Jael was sweet and nice, but really he was . . . he just wouldn't be wrapped around her little claw and that was upsetting.

Maysa was quickly falling into love with the lion and he didn't even seem to notice or care of her affections. This had never happened to Maysa before, neither the emotion or the his reaction.

Maysa wondered the night sand dunes tormented by the situation. Finally she settled down atop of the sand dunes and stared at the quarter moon and the stars seeking guidance from them and the spirits of her family.

Maysa sighed. "Maybe I should just leave." The idea chilled her, but there were other males that were more appreciative of her affections. Even the human males would be more attentive toward her even for the short time before they killed her for her fur. Staying with Jael was breaking her heart everytime he didn't melt or anything when she was near him, and the last thing Maysa wanted was to dishonor the memory of her loving beatuiful family by staying with a male that would start chipping away at her confidence in herself, her beauty, and her self worth.

User Image Roz came out of the water and shook himself off, not really worrying about where the water fell. He was out in the roguelands not too far from home right now, but it was just a little trip to see a few things, and perhaps bring some new flowers home for Suri to plant. She did love her little patch of flowers so. Roz had just arranged to have a third banu join their den and he wanted them all to get on. This third was by far the youngest and seemed to also be the most ambitious. Suri and Lahoma didn't care who was baybanu or even if there was not one.

Roz had found already that Na'ilah wanted to be Baybanu and he had only spoken to her a few times yet. Yes, he had decided to take her as a banu, because he thought she deserved to be appreciated and she seemed to be clashing with her father a good bit, but still he did not expect her to be asking about baybanu right away. He had to laugh at it really. If it was important to her, he was sure the other two would not mind her being Baybanu, so long as she respected his authority, and thus them. Besides, they knew where Roz' heart was. It was on all his banu and making each of them feel special.

Like hunting for flowers for Suri, and thinking of ways to entertain Lahoma, he found lots of things to keep them happy. He had finally told Na'ilah she could be Baybanu if she gave him the first litter of cubs, just to make her happy and keep her from asking the same thing over and over. Roz chuckled. She was as stubborn as he was and younger to boot! He loved it and would likely find it frustrating along the way. As he walked, still a bit wet, he found he was not alone in the area. Roz gave himself a last shake and finally his fur puffed up where it should be as he approached the female. "Such a beautiful sight for a lion missing his own lionesses. You must be the prize of some lucky male's life."

Maysa didn't want to preen from the lion's comment but she'd been getting little to no reaction from the ever stoic Jael. Even though this lion was only using her to replace other lionesses. Her confidence really shouldn't have boosted from what he said. At all.

She skimmed her eyes over the approaching male and felt a bit of appreciation. He was handsome in that male way they had. The night darkened the colors of his fur, but the markings where interesting. Maybe not as interesting as hers, but then she was Maysa, the last of her family. And he was male. It was truly hard for males to pull off beautiful markings such as veins, flowers, flower buds, dragonflies, and the such so she didn't hold it against him.

In fact, his markings and fur were nothing like Jael's. And that's just what she may need. "He just doesn't realize it. Not an observant male such as yourself, sir."

Maysa knew she didn't have to place herself in the moon's beams to make herself any more appealing, but it had been so long since a male had taken notice of her beauty that she couldn't help herself.

Roz loved how he could make a female happy just by saying something nice. He watched the look on her face and the way she preened a bit. Oh yeah, he had done very well with her. Roz gave himself a mental pat in the back for making someone else's day a little better. He gave himself a second one for it being a female. He couldn't help but think she was enjoying the compliments rather a lot more than was proper if she did have a male, but that was okay by him.

"Perhaps he does realize it, but does not know how to put it into words? Or perhaps he feels it is a given, so does not need to be put into words?" Roz was trying to save face for a male he'd never even met. This had to be a first for him. But he was still trying to make the female feel better with it too. "If a not so bright male like myself can see your radiant beauty, there is no way another male could miss it." Lay it on thick, make the female feel better. Roz knew what he was doing, or so he thought.

Maysa was tempted to roll her eyes at the attempt to defend Jael. In her mind, there was no excuse to complimenting beauty, no matter where you found it, and especially with her. The spirits of her Father and Mother would not be at peace if they acted as guardians to their daughter. It was not an acceptable match if a male could not express affection, appreciation.

And she truly couldn't see Jael not knowing words to express himself. He just refused to. Even if he could not, or would not, Maysa couldn't help but resenting Jael for being a fool that didn't state the abvious truth about such things. It was never hard to speak truth.

Maysa shook her head and smiled at the male. She didn't really want to talk about Jael and so wanted to steer the kind, honest male that had come to visit her to another avenue of flirtations, purring at his radiant beauty comment. "Perhaps the Moon and the Stars lend a helping hand this night then. I will have to make sure to thank them properly for guiding such a kind and honest lion to me."

Roz chuckled at the purring from the female. Okay so his ego was a little big right now. "It was a quest for flowers for my own dear Suri that brought me out here... I was not expecting to find the most beautiful flower to be a lioness that I met on my travels." He winked at her and looked a little smug. He thought himself doing quite well right now. Perhaps not on his original mission, but it was dark out so his flower search could be excused for a bit.

Roz purred back at the female and gave her a playful grin. "Are you hiding from this nameless male that does not appreciate you? I would take you back to my den, but my three ladies would likely skin my hide from me for bringing back another female. I do not spoil them enough for them to put up with me bringing back more females." His tone was teasing as he spoke. Truthfully his females were spoiled rotten and Suri at least told him that.

Maysa couldn't help but be impressed at the lion's allure and prowess. Her own uncle had held four fives by the time he was close to being an elder, but this lion had three and he couldn't be that much older than herself.

"I think he's off doing something like filling the stores or some such task. We don't like to be unprepared for guests to our den. Dens, really." Maysa shrugged and stood, stretching and flexing. She walked proudly toward the male rather than have to talk at any great distance. It had been too long since she'd just had a flirtation conversation with a male. "They must compete amongst themselves, your females, for you attention. If they don't they should." Maysa purred. "I know I like the attention of such a handsome male. As I said, I appreciate observant lions, and you are definitely both."

Roz puffed himself up proudly. He thought himself a good Pad to his Banus. "My banus love me... at least my first two do. Na'ilah only just joined us... we shall have to see with her, but I shall try very hard to make her happy." Roz nodded to make his point. He was not a traditional pad in many ways but Suri had come to love him for it. Na'ilah had to eventually do the same, right? At least this way she was a banu again... she had gotten herself in trouble with her rather easygoing father and been kajira for a while. Roz hoped that things would be better for her with him.

Not that he felt that her father was a bad Pad. He was a rather laid back and nice Pad. One just did not cross him and Na'ilah had apparently found a way to do that. Roz really did not want to know how she had managed that. He just wanted to avoid having her end up in trouble again. He wanted her happy and content, and behaving in front of other Pads. He brought his attention back to Maysa. "I thank you for the compliment, but really there are much better males than I. I simply try to be the best male I possibly can, especially in regards to my banus... they are stuck with me, after all."

Maysa smiled. "A handsome, intelligent, attentive and considerate male, they would have to be fools not to fall in love with you. Surely, your females can't be any less intelligent."

If only Jael could be the attentive and considerate of her as this male was of his three females. Obviously showing affection to three is more time consuming and emotional than just her by herself. It's not like she need him to lie to her about anything. There was nothing to lie about. Just a truthful, "You are beautiful, Maysa" would suit her. At least then, Maysa would know as this male's females must know that it was worth staying with Jael.

Why did Jael have to be so stoic? It took a bite out of her confidence and sometimes made her. Made her ... depressed. She hadn't been depressed since her family's death at the hands of those poachers. And he, he ...

Maysa forced her self to stop thinking about it. She refocused on the male with all her will power. "A quest for a flower for your female. The desire to make your females happy and content. To win their love and affections. I think you too modest."

Roz shrugged at the female's praise. He figured that his banus put up with enough that he owed them these little nice things. "They put up with quite a bit from me, I figure that they deserve anything that I can do to make them happy. With the pranks I pull and how I often say silly things instead of being a mature male, they certainly do not get any rest from my cubbish antics." He grinned fondly at the thoughts of his banus.

"Suri has her little flower garden on the edge of our pride lands. It is her escape from anything that bothers her. She can tend her flowers and sort her thoughts before she has to come back to the den. So a new flower for it will be a nice gesture for my having brought in a younger female that is a bit headstrong and likely to stir things up a bit. Lahoma on the other paw loves pranks and jokes, so making up to her, will be something that might require a bit more thought and planning, but will be a shorter task in the long run."

He sighed. "Na'ilah will settle down as she gets older, I am sure, but she is obsessed with being the 'best banu' and does not yet get that to me they are always going to be equal. I may never be able to truly win her affection, but she will do a very good job of faking that I have, just because she feels it is her duty to do so. I am sure in time my other two banus will sort her out some too, but I fear I have created an aggravating situation for all three of them. So I am doing my best to try to make up for my mistakes and stupidity."

Maysa liked this male. He tried to fix what he thought he'd done wrong for his females. Why couldn't Jael do that? She didn't want Jael to be this male, she just would have liked Jael to have heard that last little bit about apologizing and then maybe gone and gotten her flowers. As a sorry, that would have been almost as good as words, especially from Jael.

Maysa had wanted to distract herself from thoughts of Jael by flirting with this stranger, but it wasn't working. She was thinking about him more and more. And it was making her want to see him when he got back from whatever he was doing. She wanted to be there to greet him and maybe they could have a nice evening under the stars, and she could tell him about this nice male that was on a mission to find flowers.

Smiling, Maysa sat down on her haunches. "Two miles to the south of that sand dune just beyond us, is a very small oasis. It's easy to miss, so look carefully, but within it is a beautiful night blooming flower that I'm sure your female, Suri will love. They are very delicate, so be careful transporting it back. I wish you all the luck in the world. I think you and your females will work anything that comes before you out very well indeed."
