12.31.1999 4:00 pmLiam said nothing over the last-minute antics, simply smiling absently, as if remembering an old flashback, a similar moment a long time ago. It seemed almost everyone of the two-hundred Hunters had taken the opportunity to leave behind a visual memory, including some division leads.
And when his cell phone beeped, and there was a text confirmation on the setup at the other end, he was almost sad to see the moment pass so quickly.
The first two Fear barriers were laid on the ground with relative ease, a small hospice had already been constructed to one side, packs of Runic equipment for those entering the Labyrinth had been each inspected, charged, and prepared, and lastly, the temporary portal entering into Halloween had been isolated.
He pressed against the headset, just so everyone could actually hear him this time. "The mission is green lighted, preparations are complete." No other words were necessary, as the faction leads plunged first into the portal, followed by the selected others.
And then all was quiet again.
FEAR HUNTERS - If you are a Fear Hunter you are now HERE. Please read the rules carefully and proceed! Feel free to post an EXITING post here. RUNIC HUNTERS - If you are a Runic Hunter you are remaining in this thread. There are several things that you may do:THE HEALING STATION: - There is a healing station nearby. If anyone is injured, they can simply rp going there to patch up. Runic Hunters are also stationed nearby for anyone needing bandages.
- A Runic Hunter/ Hunter CANNOT HEAL or go to the healing station in mid-battle or while a creature is attacking from the portal. Once the portal is safe, they can come to heal back to full HP. Simply post [HEALING] at the top of their post to specify. THE PORTAL- While the Fear Hunters have gone into the portal, it doesn't mean that nothing will get out. Runic Hunters are in charge of making sure that nothing escapes into the human world.
- If there is a GM POST with a FEAR ESCAPEE, Runic Hunters can roll 2d12 (subtract six) and attack with their Runic weapons. Your Runic Hunter has 40 HP total. Every single time they attack a monster, they take 5 damage as well. Also note the special effect of Runic weapons, if your weapon is none of the below, it is simply considered melee (2d12). MAKE SURE TO QUOTE YOUR TARGET.
- You can only active the effect of ANY ONE of your Runic Weapons per enemy battle.
- Flame/Torch weapons: - You can sacrifice your 2d12 roll to use its special effect, please specify if you are using it and quote your targets. The next two rounds you attack will have damage doubled for you and one other target nullified.
- Healing Runic weapons: - You can sacrifice your 2d12 roll to roll 1d20. This is the amount you heal yourself or a target.
- Barrier/ Dagger Runic weapons: You can sacrifice your 2d12 roll to use its special effect, please specify if you are using it and quote your targets. The next two rounds you attack there will be no damage taken for you and one other target.
- Chain/weighted Runic weapons: You can sacrifice your 2d12 roll to use its special effect, please specify if you are using it and quote your targets. The next two rounds you attack there will be no accuracy misses on your attack. That means you and the quoted target do not have to subtract 6 from your 2d12 damage. SAMPLE POST ** I FORFEIT MY 2d12 roll to use the her Weighted Chain Runic Weapon** Carmenia the queen of generally awesome things throws her Runic Weighted Chain at the enemy. It slows the creature down. ((OOC: Damage done: N/A Using Special Weapon Effect: Yes, Runic Chain weapon, do not have to subtract six from total damage done for next 2 turns Carmenia's total HP: BLAH Turns with effect in order: 0/2 (just triggering) )) **QUOTE YOUR TARGETS***

Lowe didn't even bother to go after the camera, instead holding onto Afzal as he looked around at everything. It was time to go, perhaps to victory, and the pit of his stomach was clenching and unclenching itself like an angry fist.
DIG DIG DIG, LET US DIG. FIND THEM, DESTROY THEM. DON'T BE SCARED, WE SHALL DIG THEM ALL NEW GRAVES.
Lowe was not afraid. This was.... "If I cannot chose my time of passing, I shall just take it as it is." He was shaking, but gripping his weapon tighter he stepped into the portal.
There was no turning back, and it was just the beginning.

"Let's go," Marsh said, and headed into the portal. They'd do this, and with luck, they'd come home safe.

Adam's face immediately fell. had it really been fifteen minutes already? He looked down to Zoey and touched the side of her face before leaning in to kiss her other cheek.
"I'll be right back," he said reassuringly, smiling, "Isaac?"
<< It's time for some action, young Hunter. Are you prepared? >>
As 'prepared' as I'll ever be.
With that, he gave Cliff and Zoey a wave and slung Petia over his shoulder.
"Be safe."

The picture was taken and it wasn't long before Liam was telling them...it was time. Heidi's breath left her in a nervous shuddered sigh as she looked all around her. Remember these faces, Heidi. Remember them. They all needed to return. You needed to see as many of them as possible when you get back. It'd be okay, Heidi. It'd be alright. You can do this. It'd be okay. "Em. Remember...you're not allowed to die." Heidi told the girl firmly, though she was smiling. She leaned in close, leaving a sweet kiss against Em's cheek. "For luck." Because they needed all they could get. The hunter was given a tight hug before she could even think to let her go to enter the portal. Just stay focused... This was serious. No more playing around.

And that was expression on Zoey's srs face as Adam parted; no time for explanations, no time for something more eloquent like something out of a Fabio-a** kissing-cover romance. Strangely, despite the portal being open and the possibility of something nasty coming out, all the Death hunter could think about was Jesus Christ I hope that photo came out okay. The rest that happened afterwards she was still processing.

Aiden turned to pay attention to the hunters once the announcement was made, watching as Fear hunters left to do their duty.
Part of him was always a little bit jealous of them, able to fight with such power alongside their comrades.
No matter though. It was outside his power to help it.
For now he stood watch.

So now it was time for the Fear hunters to go down the rabbit hole. Julio stared at the portal for a bit, then nodded to Liam. He would have to stay back here, but there were plenty of good men and woman going into that portal now. Letting out a breath, he spun his staff, then made his way over to where Heidi and Em were, to give the latter a bid of good luck.
"Show those monsters what you're made of, Mariposita. We'll be here, waiting," he smiled.
Was he worried about her?
Yes.
But he was trying to hold himself back. He couldn't get too attached.

And as quick as that, the fun was over. Em hopped off of Cael and gave him a quick kiss on the shoulder, before leaving him alone to go say goodbye to her friends. Heidi was closest, and she grabbed the girl for a tight hug. "I will, I promise! I love you, baby! You be safe out here too, okay?" She gave the same 'goodbyes' to C, and Mark, before turning around to Julio. "You." She murmured, super seriously, as she flipped her weapon behind her back and poked him in the ribs. "You stay safe. I got something really important to tell you, tonight. Okay?" She snuck her hand around to his, captured his pinky in hers, and curled it. "Pinky swear!" Her toes pushed her up as far as she could go, to leave him with a kiss that had to last until New Years - so she made it count. But when she finally pulled away, her hand brushed against his cheek, and her eyes misted up. "Adios, querido." She hopped off quickly, hugging and kissing every other person she saw that she knew, and gave them all as many words of encouragement as she could. It was no wonder that she was one of the last people to enter the portal. Her last stop was Cliff, who she reached up to kiss on the cheek wordlessly. But when she entered the portal, you could hear her going all the way down. "YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE-HAH! THAT'S FOR YOU, COWBOY CLIFF!" ((Em is EXITING, PEACE OUT!))

Stunned. That was how she felt. It all happened so... abruptly and was done in a blink of the eye. He was gone. She furrowed her brows and drew her rifle. Creeping towards the portal but keeping her distance suspiciously. Her mind drummed out every foul word it could muster as she proceeded to pace a bit. She didn't like this. Not one bit.

With a kiss in return, Julio soon paused at Em's choice of wording. He wasn't entirely certain what to make of that. But for now, he just took it as Em being her loving self, before waving her off. Taking in a deep breath, he leaned against his weapon lightly, then turned to Heidi. "Welp. We got our own job to do here. How about a kiss for good luck too?" he grinned.

They were off. There wasn't much for the runic-mist hunter to do, so he squatted down, trying not to watch as hunters younger and more inexperienced than himself went into the Labyrinth. Sure they had special weapons. Weapons that may just turn on them. He didn't trust those things, and had never attempted to get one of the Fear based weapons. But now these little ones were going off on their own and there was nothing he could do to help them out. Happened every day. Nothing he could do about it. Still the man had lost most of his good humor, and idly began checking to make sure everything was in place. Shotgun was loaded, beefy banadages in his pocket. Yep, nothing else for him to mess with now, just to wait until there was something for him to do.

 Lee pinched her lips as the call to go came through the headsets. She swiftly made her way over to the portal taking up her position in case of any escapees, watching each Fear Hunter go past with a grim expression. This would probably be the last time she saw any of them. Happy New Year, eh? She whispered a silent pray for good luck for all the poor sods going through. Apocalypse time.

Mercutio stared at the hunters departing through the portal. Some of them were in high spirits, others were looking somewhat grim. Merc found himself on the grimmer side. How many of those entering would exit? Heck, how many on this side would exit?
So Mercutio did what he did best. He went to the tent to fix up, and then found himself a spot in the grass.
Goddamn it was quiet. Not that Mercutio minded. He loved a good silence now and then- but this wasn't the right kind of silence. All eerie and creepy. The tension in the air was stagnant at this point. They were all just waiting for something to burst through that portal ...
A familiar sight caught his eye. "'Ey old man, why don't you pop a squat?" he called out playfully.
