It's not the best poem, or the best rap, but It's a pretty good message. (and it's only been up for a few days and has a million hits)

Your thoughts?

I would be that guy's student any day.

He is right though, Religion is more about man made rules, money, materialism, etc...

Sounds like the Pharisees.

I thought it was REALLY good! If you read the description, it's "false religion" he's bashing, but so many people I know disliked this video big time, just because he says he hates religion. But that wasn't the point of the video, it was the falseness that comes when people call themselves religious but don't act on it. And it was religious peeps in the bible who were the ones preaching the word who were hypocrites and wanted Jesus crucified...I think this vid is talking about James 1:26 "If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight rein on his tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is worthless" so basically talking about hypocrites. Then verse 27 says "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world." I dunno, what do you guys think?

He isn't bashing false religion... he is bashing those who do the routines of Religion... and forget that Christ should be in EVERY moment of their lives. He hates the routine, those people that go to church on Sundays to make themselves feel less guilty for sinning, or praying when it suits them. Yah know? That is what he is hating on.

"A poem I wrote to highlight the difference between Jesus and false religion." I got the "false religion" from his description under the vid biggrin I was just trying to say that who he was talking about are those people who call themselves religious but are hypocrites because they don't act it, but yeah you worded it better wink

What I mean is... Religion is just routine... even if you see Jesus above everything, like going to church, praying every night (if you do so), etc... is routine right? You just do it without really thinking twice. I live spontaneously myself, I let Jesus just guide me. Heck, I bumped into a man because I decided to go out and get some food, and he gave me some great wisdom. It was a spontaneous decision to go out, and yet I got more then just a good meal of food out of that night, but a meal of wisdom.

I like going the way Jesus wants me too. I barely got to church, because I have yet to feel a connection to any in my town. Though one pastor I do find inspiring, and he is a family friend also, I have yet to feel like I belong to any one church. To me, that seems like something God doesn't want us to do. Sometimes, I wish I had the money to just travel the world, and each Sunday just go to a new church, and I do not care what kind. Protestant, Baptist, Catholic, what ever... Go with the flow, and maybe I will stumble upon something amazing.

Worshiping Jesus should be in EVERYTHING. Religion is worshiping when you "have too". Like in Church, prayer at night... etc.

Religion = a daily task, routine, something to do on Sundays.

Jesus = every waking moment, every breath you take, every moment you make.

That sounds like something that would be amazing to do. Church: the world tour. Some one should do a documentary on it.

Just going to throw this out here but the word "religion" in James is translated from the word "Threskeia". It basically means ceremonies and disciplines in regards to religious worship.

Threskeia

Jame 1
25 But one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of liberty, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer, this man will be blessed in what he does. 26 If anyone thinks himself to be religious, and yet does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this man's religion is worthless. 27 Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this : to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.
It was basically a stab that the Christianities under James made at Pauline Christianities. So the way I see this passage: If what your practicing doesn't lead you to helping those in need, then your practices are worthless.

True that.

But then again, how can you help others if you can't help yourself?
