Who: Cruz, Zurine, Phiel, Anita
Where: Gambino Mall
When: Late afternoon, around 5PM on a Saturday
Weather: Cold and a little windy. It snowed a bit the night before, but clear skies today.

____________________

A soft cough broke the meager silence that crept through the storefront when there was a lull in customers. It was around that awkward time on a Saturday where it was still too early for things to get really busy, or where everyone else was just partying and not using their precious time to hang around the video game store in the mall.

Cruz turned curiously from the bargain bin, which housed mostly past gen games ranging from cartridge to CD, the DVD and "next big step" games were all neatly hung on the walls in alphabetical order, overpriced as usual if they were brand spanking new. Anita put a fist to her mouth and coughed again, clearing her throat as she pressed a few buttons on the register. Whenever she did this, she said she was "signing out" but the Frei did not quite understand and figured it wasn't something he needed to if he wasn't expected to do it.

"Alright, bud, my shift's over. I just wanna grab a snack and then we can head on home, unless there's anything you wanna get," Her voice was a little scratchy, the Winter weather affecting her in ways he had yet to be. It was apparently called a "cold", and this was the early stage of it according to his guardian.

The crocodile Raevan flapped his small fin-like wings and hurried to her side as she stepped out from behind the counter, exchanging pleasantries with her co-worker who was taking over the rest of the day. One word in her explanation made him crane his neck, eyeing her curiously.

"Snack?"

Anita stopped, putting on her jacket, and raised her brows at her charge. "You want a snack?"

A wide smile stretched across his face and she couldn't help but laugh, inciting a throaty chuckle from him in turn as he hovered forward and took her hand for warmth. "Alright, you can have a snack, too. Let me just... figure out what to do about that," she gave another chuckle, this one a bit less jovial and holding an air of stress. It was difficult to grasp, but he was beginning to understand now.

Some people did not like kisses.

For someone who absolutely loved kisses, this was something that took Cruz most of his time out of the tank to understand. He was only a meager three and some odd months old, and it had taken three very unique individuals for him to even consider this as a valid outlook in life, but there it was. He could not kiss everyone, no matter how much he wanted to, and that was something he had to accept.

Floating beside her, hugging her arm, Cruz was very content with the level of warmth she gave off and in the mall. His coat and scarf helped a lot, and when they went outside she helped him pull his hood up to keep his face and ears from freezing. She lead him through the large halls, populated but mostly with people who were looking for a warm public place rather than to buy anything today. He didn't blame them, being warm and with others was always a nice feeling, even if you didn't know them very well.

It didn't take long for Anita to gather her small portion of food, just a simple fast food burger and a soda. Once they were at a table, she cleared her throat again. "Now, I can't have you kissing me because I'm getting a cold." Cruz's brow knit worriedly. Anita continued speaking as they walked, heading over to one of the fountain areas and sitting on an edge. "If you did, you might get one too and I don't wanna see you sick even if it's nothing serious. Colds suck." He planted himself beside her as best he could, crossing his arms while watching her curiously. "So, if you want a snack while we're here it's gotta be somebody else. How do you think we should work that?"

This was an odd conundrum he had never been faced with before. Cruz leaned back, a look of critical thought weighing on his features. He did very much want to have a snack, but he wasn't starving. He couldn't kiss Anita even though she was seeming a little more receptive to the idea if it weren't for her cold (a fact that was frustrating his rune greatly). The lesson was that he could not just go around kissing people willy nilly. Not everyone liked kisses, and he had to respect that, but how was he supposed to know who liked kisses or not?

"...Ask?"

Anita watched him curiously, stopping mid-chew to point around the wide open space. "You wanna go around asking everyone in the mall for a kiss?" The way her brows were tilted, she seemed skeptical, and the corners of his mouth creased, making his lips form a tight, thin line. "You're headed in the right direction," she added before he became too despondent with the idea, "But the thing about most people -- err, humans at least -- is they're not normally gonna go for some random person asking for kisses. Raevans, maybe. You definitely should ask before you feed, but you'll probably have better luck if you know them already." Another bite of that warm burger and his rune flickered beneath his large green peacoat.

"Good to ask... not always get from ask?" his brows creased, pursing his lips as he tried to understand the concept. Anita nodded, swallowed, and then gently nudged his shoulder with her own.

"Even if they say no, at least you won't get flipped over a table again."

A grin grew as he slyly side eyed his guardian. That settled it, then. If nothing bad besides someone declining were to happen from him asking for his food, then that was the way to go. However, he was becoming more peckish as the minutes ticked by and Anita said strangers probably would not say yes to such a request. There had to be some way for him to grab a snack before they left, but he supposed if it didn't work out he could always ask Anita's mother for one.

The winter weather was treating Zurine well, though it was not as kind to her poor guardian -- though Phiel had never been prone to colds, this winter had been rough for him. It had been a struggle between he and Zurine -- the temperature in the house was up and down. He would turn it up, needing a brief respite from the bitter cold sea-wind, and she would turn it back down to keep herself comfortable. The result was Phiel's own version of a nasty little cold, which kept him sneezing and snuffling all the way through their mall outing. The neat white handkerchief hardly made it back to his pocket before it would emerge again to catch another breathless sneeze, and it left Zurine feeling a bit distressed, a bit moody. She stuck close to her slightly feverish guardian, and only when he fell asleep, weary from illness and medicine, in a comfortable, dark corner with a chair in it at the coffee shop a few stores down from the food court. She had carefully tucked her own deep-grey wool shawl around him, as he had done for her a few times, and patted his head. "Will be back, Phiel," Zurine murmured softly to him. "Do not worry." The cold of her delicate hand on his head, even through his iron-grey curls, made Phiel shiver in his doze, shifting a little closer to the fading, steamy warmth of his coffee cup.

With that gentle warning, Zurine floated away to explore. The mall was an interesting place, she had found, and she quite liked it. Just people-watching was fascinating here, and though she had never met anyone of her own kind in this particular place, she maintained her fascination with it. People generally kept their distance from her, which was just fine by Zurine. And if she kept near the entrances, at least sometimes, she could cool off.

Carrying her cup of shaved ice delicately, she floated in toward the food court. Maybe she could buy Phiel something here that would make him feel better...

It was still a little difficult for the crocodile to comprehend, but he was trying his best. He knew his Anita was right, but what if he was absolutely starving and everyone kept saying no? He couldn't take such an answer then, could he? Surely not, or he would crumble and wither! Thankfully he was not in such a situation now but the hunger was beginning to mount and the more he thought about it the more peckish he became.

As Anita tucked into her meal from the food court, Cruz's nails drummed idly against the marble of the fountain's edge they were rested upon. His green eyes followed each passerby and, while not all residents were human, there were none as vibrant to him as one of his own. Even Ana who was so dark would have stood out like a beacon in this crowd and, briefly, he wished she were there. Humans were fine company to be sure, company he greatly appreciated, but to be around another raevan was an unfortunately rare occasion that made it so even if one were disagreeable he would likely enjoy their presence.

That was what made a certain icy chill, normally unwelcome to his cold blooded composition, not matter in the grand scheme. It was light, barely there because of the distance between them, but Cruz's eyes immediately fell upon the gleaming blue and porcelain white of the ice rose. The sun from the skylights reflected gently against her, brightening her like a diamond under scrutiny. Small cup in hand and emotionless gaze in place, she was both reminiscent and completely opposite of the spider who had momentarily infiltrated his thoughts. As quickly as Anastacia had been thought about, she was tucked away in place of this new face.

"Neeta," he whispered excitedly, the words coming out sloppily as he fixed his mouth from hanging open, "Neeta, look!"

Anita made a rather unattractive grunt through her food, tired green eyes surfing the crowd to try and follow her charge's gaze. It didn't take long. Her eyes widened excitedly as well and the two exchanged a brief glance, Cruz's face retaining a look of shock while Anita's full mouth was smiling as wide as possible without spilling the contents of her meal.

It was unusual for a frei to be wandering alone, as far as she could figure. She seemed calm, poised and proper, but it was difficult to tell whether she was truly this way and merely wandering or if she was attempting to keep up appearances so she didn't appear lost. Was it possible she and her guardian had become separated in this large mall? Once she managed to swallow her food, Anita bumped her forehead against Cruz's shoulder, causing him to quickly swivel his gaze back to her.

"You gonna say hi?" she joked, the poor boy looking completely confused.

He paused, wide eyed, and pouted before offering a weak "Hi" to Anita. She could barely contain her laughter at such a pitiful and perplexed response.

"No, silly. To her!"

That snapped him to attention and his fin-like-wings frilled up with excitement. Determination surged through him suddenly. His rune pulsed and wings flapped as he came away from the fountain, glanced to Anita once more (who waved him toward the icy frei with her plastic fork) and he set off to greet this new female.

With her leisurely pace, it was easy to catch up with her and losing sight of her in such a drab crowd was certainly no problem -- she stuck out like a sore thumb! When he was close enough to truly feel her chill, however, he recoiled and paused, looking concerned. Of the raevans he had been acquainted with thus far, none had given off such a barrier. Eiry had a rather distinct lack of heat but it was far different to the frosty air this one gave off. Even bundled up he could feel it and he hesitated, rubbing his hands to keep his fingers warm. Still, he was not about to let her go without at least saying hello as Anita had suggested and before their distance became too great once again, he pursued.

Once he was just out of reach of her air but close enough to be heard, he gave a throaty grumble of nervousness and fumbled over his words.

"Hi-llo..."

Caught up and tangled in her own worried thoughts, Zurine never really noticed her pursuer, drifting back and forth as aimless and wind-blown as a snowflake, avoiding the people bustling about and radiating their uncomfortable heat into the already-warm building. What could she get that would make Phiel feel better? Was there even anything she could do? He was taking those medicines every few hours already, the bright-colored ones in the boxes from the corner store marked with titles like Cold-Ease. They didn't seem to be doing much for his flagging wellness.

However, as she stopped to take a spoonful of her shaved ice, Zurine heard someone greet her. She paused a moment, exhaled the vapor, and then turned to face the unfamiliar voice with her wings spread wide, not wanting to seem small. Still, it surprised her to see that the stranger was not so strange after all: he was like her, only... not. He was bundled up but she could still see that he floated in place, just like she did. The chilly frei perked up a little, dark eyes widening as she fluttered softly, tinkling with frost.

"Hello," Zuri answered softly, looking him over with intense curiosity, black eyes glittering in fascination. This one she did not know. "Who are you?" She had the air of one expecting a prompt and honest response, imperious and cool.

The icy frei's voice was calm and quiet, accompanied by a gentle and sultry lilt. It wasn't unwelcoming but her voice also did not stretch out its arms in jovial greeting -- it was terse, but her eyes spoke otherwise. She was just as curious as he and his own green eyes softened at this realization. "H-hello," he corrected himself after her, nodding. Her next question was a simple one and he was eager to answer, smile growing. Cruz's rune pulsed happily and his small wings gave a shiver of excitement. "Am Crooz," his name was drawn out, the R curled gingerly. It was accompanied by a throaty grumble of approval.

With each glance over her pale skin, the more the croc was captivated by her appearance. Each Raevan he met was unique, of course, but there was something so much more about this one that he could scarcely explain to himself, let alone anyone else when he knew so few words. Her long hair, the tufted crest upon her brow, the ribbons all across her arms and draped over her wings -- and her wings, oh what wings! Clear as glass but tinted so beautifully, his fingers moved instinctively to touch them but before he reached out too far he drew back, clasping his hands together. Anita had just told him that he needed to ask to be fed and he had just met this one; he would ask if it was alright to touch as well. "You?" he purred delicately, daring to hover mere inches closer. His eyes found the elegant gems resting on her forehead and he couldn't help but smile, revealing the curves of his sharp teeth.

"Pretty..."

Back by the fountain, Anita watched with a smile as she picked at her lunch, happy to see that her charge seemed to have taken a lessen from her so quickly. If she hadn't and he was as hungry as he said, he might have greeted her with a full on smooch.

Softening a little bit herself, Zurine let a small, cautious smile curve her lips, her body language gentling a little bit. Cruz looked sweet despite those sharp, sharp teeth, and he wasn't radiating uncomfortable heat at her, and though he was a little bit of a space-invader... Well, she didn't mind so much, she'd have to admit. She did like others of her kind, especially, and it was nice to meet one who didn't seem too unsure of her. It warmed her heart a little, and she fluttered those icy wings softly. "My name is Zurine," she said softly, tilting her head. "Good to meet you too, Cruz..." Her voice lingered gently on his name, soft and kind. His expression of wonder made her smile widen subtly, just slightly -- she'd always liked feeling pretty, and she preened a little under the attention.

"You don't mind the cold?" Zurine asked, after a moment.

Of all the letters in the alphabet that he still had yet to master by heart, Z probably had to be his favorite right beside A and R. The two consonants provided him much enjoyment in speech and so whenever an individual had a name with them, it was a joy to be able to say it.

"Zzoo-reen," he tested it, enjoying its sound and how it felt on his tongue. Once more, twice. When she tilted her head oh so delicately and and repeated his name, his rune pulse longingly and Cruz's breath left him as he stared, captivated. "Good to meet Zooreen," he returned slowly, giving her name the same lingering treatment. There was something mysterious about her name but it fit so well to her face and form, he knew he would never forget it.

Her question brought Cruz back to the present and he gave a quick inhale, blinking dumbly at her before he realized what she'd asked. "Cold," he repeated, trying to organize his thoughts. Looking down at his hands he flexed his fingers; the red gloves that covered them stopped at the middles of his fingers, clawed tips poking out and paler thanks to the cold, rather than the pink of someone warm blooded. "Cold is... not bad," he started with some difficulty. Cruz was still young and his vocabulary limited. Pouting for a moment, he looked her in the eyes and outstretched his hand between them, "Zurine is cold...?" As far as he was concerned, the chill in the air was more of an inconvenience than something to be feared. It was uncomfortable and restricting in many ways but it also brought what he considered to be one of the best days in the world: Christmas. The falling snow, the hanging icicles, the carolers and the good will, the cheer -- if that was what the cold brought, then he would deal with the discomfort as best he could and he would smile while doing so.

That gentle repeat made her cheeks color cutely, and she shifted shyly, unused to such sweetness. He was adorable, she inwardly squeaked, her dark eyes wide. But not cute like her mouse; Cruz was cute in an entirely different way, strange and unfamiliar. She laughed softly, a warm and surprisingly rich sound as she covered her mouth daintily with one hand. "Yes. I am... a little cold," she said softly. Looking down at that extended hand, she hesitated a moment. This was going so well! What if he decided he did not like her, once he'd felt her cold fingers on his? Her chest fluttered softly, strangely, with a nervousness that Zurine wasn't entirely used to.

Taking a breath, Zurine cautiously lowered one cool, delicate hand to touch Cruz' fingertips with her own chilly ones. She was not as cold as she sometimes was, and the touch of her hand was light and gentle against his, ready to pull back quickly if he should react poorly. "Is that... okay?"

Her lightly flushed cheeks, the subdued laughter and smile, it all riled around in Cruz's body and his rune panged hungrily. He ignored it as best he could, wanting to do right by this lovely frei and his guardian by waiting for the right time and asking permission, but it was becoming more difficult as the moments crept by. Still, his senses were keen and Cruz kept his eyes on Zurine's own rather than her lush, blue lips. When she looked down, he glanced as well and spread his fingers a bit further apart.

Coaxing, inviting.

The aura of chill surrounding her hadn't quite registered beneath his warm Winter layers since they began talking until she drew her hand near. His fingers twitched instinctively but he held his position, watching her movement carefully. With the most gentle touch, she rested her fingertips against his and though her temperature was higher than average for Zurine, for Cruz it was a new low. His brows immediately scrunched with worry, mouth opening to huff out a short pained groan. Though his hand went rigid at the touch, he did not allow himself to pull away and closed his eyes tight, grimacing -- but enduring.

It wasn't painful so much as shocking. An instant numbness overtook his fingers with a distinct tingling sensation and it caused his digits to stiffen involuntarily. The color from them drained subtly, slowly, the longer they kept contact. Clenching his teeth shut, Cruz let out a quiet hiss as the remaining warmth from his fingers dissipated with her frozen touch. His hand trembled but he refused to relent unless she pulled away. Her voice sounded so concerned, so convinced it was utterly not okay for her to be this way, but it was just how she was. She couldn't help it the same way he couldn't help needing kisses to survive. Cruz still couldn't wrap his mind around why they were embarrassing or why Anita refused outright to give them on the lips, even upon request.

At first she wasn't sure of his reaction. What was that expression? It didn't quite click in her head until Zurine heard that soft, uncomfortable little huff and watched the gentle face wrinkle in discomfort. She swallowed hard, her expression almost instantly flickered to a hollow sort of distress, a sort of utter let-down, mostly at herself and at her own nature. She was hurting him, she was sure of it. But at the same time, he wasn't pulling away, a mystifying thing indeed. After a moment of confused pondering, it clicked into place -- he was doing it for her sake!

Her heart hurt with that strange kindness, and despite the faint flicker of tears in her dark eyes, she smiled a little wider. "Thank you," Zurine murmured softly, blinking just a little quickly, perhaps. Gently she pulled back her fingers, though the gentle touch had been wonderful while it had lasted. "But I don't want to touch if it hurts... are you okay?"

Another soft gasp left him when her fingers retracted, breaking the contact, and Cruz opened one eye to peek at the damage. His fingers were pale, the entire hand trembling slightly, and as he flexed them he found they were difficult to move. Cruz drew his hand back and cradled it, brow knitting with confusion and worry. The numbness seeped through his pores, hitting every nerve and vein, and had begun spreading quickly while they were still in contact. It slowed when that contact was broken, but it wasn't until Cruz tucked his hand into the warm folds of his coat and began rubbing it did it stop entirely and slowly, very slowly, begin to reverse its effects.

Looking up, Cruz's eyes widened as he saw the glistening in Zurine's dark eyes. To this, he began rubbing his hand more vigorously, attempting to warm it as quick as he could and return it to normal while daring to hover just a few inches closer. "Y-yes," he gave a small shiver, feeling her outer aura, but his bundles were keeping most of his body warm and as the seconds ticked by his fingers were regaining color and heat. "Zoo-reen..." he cooed quietly, treading the slightest bit closer. She was much lower to the ground than he but Cruz was far from the tallest of Raevan's, floating roughly at five-feet-eight-inches but it was more than enough of a difference between them. Pulling his hand back out to examine once he found it comfortable, he showed it to her -- front to back, and even a small wiggle of his fingers. "Okay," he repeated, offering her a smile.

Once more he reached out, this time with both hands, but he did not force the contact on her. "Please," he started simply before sighing her name once more, "Zoo-reen... can kiss?" As the last word passed his lips, his rune flared brightly, hungrily. Her touch had taken a good chunk of his energy -- not to a dangerous degree by any means, but he felt sluggish and tired. Cold or not, his rune was craving her blue lips. It was time to test her limitations and hopefully make her feel better about the situation.

Back by the fountain, Anita was finishing up her burger and tilting her head occasionally at the pair. She was out of earshot and Cruz's back was turned toward her, so she couldn't make out the quiet sounds of discomfort or the change in his demeanor but she clearly made out the subtle changes in Zurine's. Anita didn't want to intrude but from her side it seemed like Cruz might be accidentally offending the poor girl and if things kept in this direction she was going to have to step in.

It was a relief to find his hand relatively unscathed, and Zurine swallowed hard. She didn't seem to mind him so close, and his reassurances eased her fears a little. At least she hadn't done lasting damage, as her worst fears had been breathing in her ears. That would have been inexcusable, but he seemed at least not afraid of her, and in fact the closer he moved the more she smiled again, relief warming her subtly. "I'm glad you're okay," she whispered, but when he reached back out toward her, Zurine's expression shifted back over to puzzlement. Her lips pursed softly in an uncertain, silent 'what', her fingers clenching and unclenching in shy uncertainty.

She swallowed softly, dark eyes widening when Cruz made his request plain. Zurine had never been kissed before! Perhaps Phiel had dropped careful little ones atop her head when she wasn't paying attention, and perhaps she had seen the handsome, rakish detectives kiss the troubled beautiful women in Phiel's favorite movies. They certainly seemed to enjoy it, and Zurine had never had the talk with Phiel -- the one about why one shouldn't kiss strangers. Her fingers came a little closer to his, cautious, not quite touching. "Will it be okay? The cold? It is okay with me, but..." She was willing, but nervous, given their experience a moment ago -- he seemed to really want to, or perhaps even need to, and it wasn't as if it was her that was going to be hurt by it...

Her voice, though chilled, was a calm sort and it was a soothingly cool sound to his gently pointed ears. She was so nervous, so unsure, but the closer he came the less she looked as though she were about to cry. Still, her pale features read shock when he requested a taste of her lips. All the same, her body language read acceptance and she held her free hand out, matching the position of his own. They were so close without touching that her aura wrapped around his clawed fingers and it felt as if they already were. Though it was uncomfortable, he held strong and kept a soft but determined gaze upon her dark, owlish eyes. His lips quivered with hunger and it was taking a great amount of will for him not to stare at those taut, pouting lips colored gracefully with blue.

In his peripheral he watched them move, slowly curling with each syllable. Understandably -- and adorably -- she was concerned. Perhaps he owed her an explanation. Furrowing his brow slightly, he nodded and gave her a tired smile. "Is okay, Zooreen." Moving the hand that wasn't near her own, he indicating to his lips and then trailed his fingers down his chest to the hem of his coat and parted the end to reveal his rune which gleamed ravenously inside his ribbon. "Must kiss to live." As a fellow Raevan, he was certain she would understand. Though the means was different, the results were the same. If neither of them had a certain special something when they needed it, they would surely perish.

"If is okay, please," he asked again, heart beating faster with anticipation along with his pulsating rune. Cruz leaned in further, closing the gap between them that had been steadily shrinking every few seconds. Closing his eyes, his voice lowered to a whisper, he muttered one last phrase before gently closing his fingers around her own, one by one. "Kiss Cruz..."

Their lips touched. The chill from her hand did not meet his lips, which instead were met with a slightly damp warmth. It happened whenever he was the one kissing; an exchange of energy from the kiss itself. Whether those he kissed could feel it too, the frei didn't know, but it was a wonderful, comfortingly warm sensation that coursed its way through every nerve, every pour, down to his very core, and even managed to offset her aura so it felt nice and cool instead of harmfully frigid to his cold blood. Hungry, Cruz let out a mirthful sigh against her lips and lightly tightened his grasp on her hand. The other, which he had left attached to his coat, moved experimentally to her face and stroked the icy owl's cheek before brushing her side bangs back. The energy received from the kiss was direct, not sapping any energy from the one he kissed but taking it from the kiss itself. What energy and warmth he had lost from touching her previously was being completely regained and then some as Cruz pushed against her lips, tilting his head slightly to get a more pleasant position.

As for flavor, hers was one of the best he had sampled yet. While Prajna had a spice to it akin to cinnamon and Eiry was something comparable to mint (old mint that perhaps was starting to go bad), Zurine's was almost like vanilla in a way. The chill of her body added a sort of refreshing flavor all its own, making for an addicting combination.

While his kisses had begun long and slow, savoring the warmth of her kiss' energy, her taste, their touch, he had shifted to faster, gentler kisses which became more like pecks upon her pale lips. Before long and with another charming grumble, he removed his hands from her and left one final smooch on her lower lip. His eyes opened and he felt completely renewed, his eyes having a bright sheen and his skin giving off a properly flushed look. In his excitement, his breathing had picked up and Cruz had to take a moment to regulate it. Grinning subtly, he watched Zurine's reaction and managed to breath out a single compliment.

"Zurine kiss good."
PostPosted: Mon Aug 13, 2012 11:54 pm

When he explained, Zurine felt any concern she might have had about the idea of being kissed were eased. It was feeding, plain and simple, and that wasn't something to quibble about. She didn't mind helping Cruz with feeding -- and besides that, being kissed sounded pretty nice. She liked having him closer; and she looked down cautiously at his rune. It looked a little like hers, at least in that it was glowing prettily, and she understood its hunger. Her own pulsed and glowed when she was overheated and hungry and miserable, and she could see his doing the same.

When he asked softly, though, she gave a soft sound of agreement -- and their fingers gently twining together, this time without the pain for him, was pleasant. What was even more pleasant, though, was the warm, gentle press of Cruz's lips on hers. Oh, that was more than nice, and her wide-pupilled eyes closed slowly and sweetly, long dark lashes brushing her cheeks as a high bloom of pretty blue flushed the soft skin. A sweet sound escaped her, and she gently clung to his hand. She certainly didn't understand why pleasant warmth spread slow and soft in her chest, like a faint flutter of soft little wings, and it made her catch her breath when he tilted his head, pressing their mouths together more firmly. For someone who had only ever tasted ice, the taste of a kiss was something much different indeed, and Zurine thought that she could most definitely get used to the idea of them. This was something she'd carry the memory of with her later, that gentle hand touching her cheek, the sweet closeness she was so unused to. Phiel was wrong -- touch wasn't bad, at all.

It was so much fun, in fact, that she felt a little disappointed when the kiss began to peter down into smaller, lighter little ones. In fact, she leaned forward a little into one before she could stop herself, and felt a soft flush of embarrassment warm her from the inside-out. She let his fingers go willingly once he was ready to pull away, though, and her eyes fluttered softly open after a moment, breathing a little too quickly herself. One dainty hand came up to rest against her breastbone, and her eyes were wide as she looked up at Cruz. A shy smile curved her kiss-flushed, slightly swollen lips, and Zurine looked up to meet Cruz's eyes. He looked much better, now, even to her eyes. She gave a low, pleased hum, at the compliment. "Ooooh, I am glad. You kiss good too, Cruz," she sighed, her wings ruffled with delight. Even if she didn't have much else to compare it to, the icy frei had to agree hands-down that it was going to be filed under 'distinctively positive' in her catalog of experiences.

As he let out another contented breath, the green frei could feel the tingle of her chill and taste still upon his lips. He closed his eyes and rumbled pleasantly, savoring it, then hovered a little lower as he relaxed. Among the stark few he had been acquainted with, Zurine was a curiosity -- as unique as the frozen rose that bore her.

Her voice brought him back to the present and Cruz smiled at her compliment. He watched her wings ruffle cutely and his small fin-like ones shivered in response. The croc was excited inside. Though he was now satiated (perhaps more than that considering his partner enjoyed the kiss as much as he did), his heart had not quite calmed from the excitement. There was a silent prospect there, something in her voice that called out to him as if an invitation. The way she sighed after their lips parted, he could tell that she would be open to feeding again -- even without asking -- but he would take the polite road and tuck this lesson away. Asking was for the best; he would not like it if someone took things from him without doing so, and it was the same for kisses.

"Zurine," Cruz purred her name, fingers at his side itching for more contact but he refrained for now, "Alone here?" He tilted his head slightly, glancing over his shoulder to his guardian who seemed to be finishing her burger up. Their eyes locked and he smiled, which prompted a smile from her as well as a wave before she took another bite. "Am with Neeta. Will be going soon," with a quick turn of his head, Cruz gave his icy companion a sly and playful grin, "Want to meet?"

He was certain Anita would like Zurine and that the two would get along. If Zurine's guardian was anywhere in the building, it would be nice to meet him as well.
