The sun was too hot already. It wasn't even high in the sky yet! Durin groaned as he rolled to his side, surrounded by two ladies. His sons had died, struck down by a rival male and other females had come and gone, but a pair of twins had stuck around. A small smile spread over his face. At least he had something left. With a wide yawn, the brown lion rose to his feet. Perhaps today would not be that bad of a day despite the heat wave that decided to pester his favorite napping spot. Even with that in mind, he made his way towards the carcasses that had been left from yesterdays hunt. Luckily the buzzards and hyenas hadn't gotten to them yet, most likely because they were hidden in the brush under a tree that wasn't too far from the one where he slept, only minutes at most. It wasn't much with three hungry bellies to fill and only one young zebra, but it was something to fill his belly with.

A group of raucous birds had forced Moeras to abandon the tree she had been sleeping within. She was not happy about having to leave behind her tree. It had been one of the more comfortable ones she had slept in, and still had a bit of remains in it’s branches from a previous kill, however with her stomach giving no gripe she was more focused on continuing her nap than the potentially wasted meal. She could always catch another, but not if she wasn’t well rested! So she left the tree and the annoying birds behind in search of somewhere quieter, ears flattened against her head in annoyance at the whole situation. She had been having a nice dream too where she was sleeping on some soft mosses on a fallen tree. It had been quite a nice dream, one she would have liked to continue.

As soon as he was close enough, the heavy body flopped onto the grass under the scattered shade of a dying tree. Lazily he pulled a leg bone towards himself and then up and onto his leg, coming to rest on his foreleg. Finally, food. That walk over seemed to have taken forever, at least it was worth it. Durin smiled to himself as he looked to his growling stomach before seting to work relieving the femur of any leftover meat on it.

Moeras slunk along, her tail dragging over the ground. it was far too warm out for her to be up and around. Perfect napping weather, but unfortunately she had to find a place to continue her nap now. Ahead she spotted a prospective tree. It seemed to have plenty of shade-giving foliage on it, and at least a few branches she could lay on. Her pace quickened slightly, eager as she was to continue her nap. However as she neared she smelled lions, and they had been here a while by how strong it was. Mild curiosity caught the leopardess as she came closer to the tree, climbing quickly up and on to one of it’s thicker branches.
Lions indeed. In fact right below her was a large male gnawing on the remains of some unfortunate beast not quick or smart enough. A couple females lay not far off either. Moeras draped herself over the branch, despite the potential danger the lions posed. She was high enough out of their reach anyways, though the smell of meat caused her stomach to growl. “Must be nice having a couple lionesses to catch your meals for you.” Moeras stared down at him, brows raised as she eyed the meat resting on his leg.

Durin's tail flicked beside him as he ate. It wasn't until the leopardess started talking to him that he even paused to really breathe properly. His brow sunk as his head rose and turned upward to see what had spoken to him. A leopard. How else would it get into the tree. "It is." He replied flatly to her question, not sure what such a creature would be doing so close to not one but three adult lions. Was she brave or stupid? Or...hungry? It didn't take much for him to notice what she was eyeing. Then her stomach growled. That just further confirmed what he already thought; she was after his femur.

Moeras looked away, her voice rather nonchalant as she stretched out further on the branch. “Yes. Not a bad idea having others do all the work. Certainly makes it easier to nap through the day.” Her gaze shifted back down to the meat. “Maybe I should find someone willing to do my hunting for me. Quite a preferable solution to having to do it myself.” She mulled over in her head some way to get the meat from him. She could perhaps try some sort of distraction, she had heard male lions weren’t usually fond of other males on their land. Perhaps she could say she saw a young male around. Might be enough to get him away from the meat.

"Hahah! You sound kind of like me." Durin couldn't help but laugh at how similar they were. He was lazy and was more then happy to have females hunt for him while he protected them. Golden eyes looked her over quickly. She wasn't bad looking and while he was trying to produce children with the two lionesses with him but another chance wouldn't be bad either.
"How would you like to stay with me for a bit? No hunting required and you can lounge as much as you want?"

Moeras raised her case upwards in to the foliage in thought. It was quite a tempting offer, and really she already had her decision ready, however she was going to at least pretend she wanted to think about it. “Quite a tempting offer you have put forth.” She purred, tail swishing off the side of the branch. She waited a few moments longer before looking down at him. “Alright then. I think I shall take you up on that offer.” Moeras could stand the company if it meant she wouldn’t have to hunt for her own food.

"Well, when you're ready, come join me and my lionesses under the tree over there." Durin motioned to the tall, shady tree with two females under it. "They hunt every other day at dusk, so you'll get your fill. As for payment for being allowed to laze around and eat from their kills, well...we'll talk of that another time." The large brown lion turned and grinned widely to himself after his face was facing away from her. Slowly, he walked back towards his small pride. Maybe soon, gods willing, it would grow in number. Just maybe...

Moeras looked over towards the tree, under which the two females were laying. She said nothing as he continued to speak, brow quirking at the mention of a payment to be discussed at a later time. Of course there was a catch to this offer, though on she was not going to know going in to this deal. Was it worth it? Being able to lay around more as her meals were brought to her, by a pair of lionesses no less. The very thought brought a smile to her face. Yes. For now she would stay. With that she pushed herself up and descended the tree, slowly following after the large male lion.
