Not... the best Christmastival he'd ever had, Roch thought as he stepped out of the reaper dorm. He'd taken Taryn to the train station, had a run in with a guy that he hadn't really wanted to talk to, and failed to find a handful of the people that he had been planning on playing for. It was the afternoon by this point, and he was tired of trying to chase down people, anyway. And he had a seriously strong urge for pizza. Christmastival pizza. Yeah, it was starting to sound better by the moment. The punk boil headed down the path that led to the front of the school, shadowstepping once to speed it up, then stopping as he heard a very familiar sound at the front gate.
A motorcycle pulled out in front of him, the man on the back as familiar to him as his own mirror image, but wearing a helmet, which he brought the front up on. "Hey, kid, get on," Austin said.
"What? Why?" Roch demanded, making a face.
"Just get on already, we're on a schedule," Austin growled, grabbing Roch by the front of his vest and hauling him closer. Then he handed him a familiar silver helmet, which Roch reluctantly put on before climbing on behind him.
Hel had been busy marching around the school grounds at the moment with a messenger bag hanging from her side that was full of wrapped presents. Her expression was set into a determined one, as she moved around the grounds and pondered over what had only happened yesterday. She hated to say it…but they all seemed to fall into an odd pattern of sorts. Something drastic would happen, they’d try to deal the best they could…and then they’d carry on about what they had planned. Not like they could really do anything else at the moment, right?
The valkyrie scowled to herself, but paused as a loud sound caught her attention. What in Jack’s name was that? Her dual toned gaze narrowed at the sight of some…contraption of sorts at the school gate, but what suddenly had her on alarm was that Roch was there…and some being was pulling him around. In light of recent events…and Hel was just a protective being by nature…it didn’t bode well for the person on the motorcycle.
Suddenly the ghoul leapt straight up into the air, and was climbing with an amazing speed. She summoned her weapon, giving it a twirl before pointing it at the being that was ‘forcing’ Roch onto the contraption. Hel then dove at him, her spear outstretched, ready to lance him. “Unhand him, now!” She snarled once she was within ear shot.
Austin blinked. That's about all he could do at the sight of a pipsqueak Valk snarling at him from above. "Oye..." he said to Roch. "That ain't your ghoulfriend, is it? Cuz she doesn't seem your usual type."
Roch blinked, too. Then snickered. It was horrible, really, but he was about to have some serious fun with this, and he was too much of a d**k to mind that it would be tormenting his old man. In fact, that was what made it entertaining. "Hel!! Don't do it! He's a dangerous jacker! Just let him take me!!"
"'Just let him take me'?" Austin repeated. "You little jacktard!"
The punk boil choked on a laugh, even as Austin revved the motor. "I'll be okay! I--just tell the others not to worry!" he added to the Valk.
Way to set Hel off Roch, really.
This just seemed to further steel her resolve to take out the being that was trying to take him away. Like hel she was going to let her friend get taken away! The reaper tucked her wings against her back, speeding up her drop dramatically as her burning, narrowed glare was entirely focused on the being wearing the helmet. Hel was a little too close for comfort now, and thrust her spear out at the being, letting out a cry.
The bike twisted and Austin dodged it, racing around the little Valk so quickly that the tires threw up dust. "You d**k!" he snarled over the speaker of their helmets. "And here I was takin' you to Wallow-mart to pick up the Christmastival dinner for Monica to cook!" he snapped.
"Christmastival dinner?" Roch repeated in surprise. "Like an entire meal?"
"Yes, an entire meal! One so big even you can't eat it all--but if I wind up dissipating before we get there, your a** is gonna STARVE!"
Hel’s eyes widened as the being on the contraption managed to out maneuver her rather quickly. The ghoul’s wings snapped out and start to flap furiously to stop her from crashing into the ground where the bike once was, and she spun around quickly, scowling. Oh, he wasn’t getting away! The reaper pulled her spear back, and with an arm like a pro brute-ball player, chucked her spear at the bike’s back tire.
Couldn’t risk hitting Roch, after all!
"Not MY BIKE!!" Austin wailed, hitting the gas even harder and roaring forward to avoid the spear hitting his tire. "Call your ghoul off, already, kid, or I'm tossin' you off without slowin' down!"
"You can't do that! We're goin' to get FOOD!" Roch yelped, wrapping his arms around Austin's waist tightly. "Speed up, we can lose her!!" Or not, but jack it all, Monica was cooking!!
"CALL HER and tell her to lay off!" Austin snarled. "I am NOT losin' my bike over this, it cost good money!"
Hel scowled once more as the contraption sped up, easily getting out of reach of her spear. She dismissed the weapon before it would start to skid along the ground, and shot up into the air again. Heh…it may be able to use paths to get around…but there were buildings in the way! She’d just go right over the buildings. That contraption could probably move across the ground faster than she could, but she’d be able to get ahead of it with them still in town! With this in mind, the reaper shot over the tops of buildings, following the loud noise of the bike.
Eventually she soared over enough roof tops to gain a bit of an edge, and the next thing Austin would see would be Hel whipping around a corner after she dove from the sky, and was coming straight at him from the front this time with the intention to tackle him…while he was still on the bike.
Austin raced pass a few boogies, skidding into a turn behind a large building, then down a long street that led to a massive building with the word "Wallowmart" glowing in eerie green colors over the door. Then he saw her coming towards them. "Giddoff," he growled at Roch.
"Yeah, but--" Roch grumbled something before jumping off the bike. Austin summoned his sharp looking saxophone, holding it up to block the ghoul's attack. Then he cursed, kicked the footstand, and disappeared.
"NOT THE BIKE!" Roch bellowed when he saw what his dad had done. "If he dies, that's mine!!'

Instead of feeling flesh underneath her hands, she felt the weapon of another reaper. Her eyes widened a bit, having a better idea of who she was dealing with, but before she could do anything more, he disappeared. The ghoul came to an abrupt stop in the air, flapping her wings furiously once more to keep her position, her head whipping back and forth before landing on Roch. Ah! He was there!
The ghoul dropped to the ground and ran over to him. “Roch!” She cried, “Are you alright!?”
"Hel, you--" Roch groaned as his father appeared behind the short reaper, grabbing her around the waist. "Let her go, Dad," he said, snorting. "Game's over."
Hel did not take kindly to being grabbed from behind, not one bit. As soon as Austin’s arms were around her, the ghoul lost it. She flailed like mad, and quickly raised one of her legs. It should be noted that both the front and the back of her boots were steel plated.
She snapped her leg back, aiming for a weak point.
Austin let go of her, appearing behind Roch this time. "Seriously, TELL me she ain't your ghoulfriend," he said to his kid.
"Pop, I want a cup for Christmastival," Roch said instead, turning to look up at the gigantic store in front of them. "And now you know why. Hel, this is my DAD, Dad, this is Hel--"
"Seriously? Her name is Hel?" Austin asked, looking stunned. "Jackdamn, boil, her parents aptly named her!"
The valkyrie scowled as the reaper suddenly disappeared, and reappeared once more behind Roch. Hel looked about ready to tackle him once more, until Roch’s words cut through her anger. Woah, wait. His father? The reaper was still in a crouched position as she stared at the two. “…He…really is your father?”
She questioned, now brows furrowing in confusion as she eyed Austin warily, like she could still lunge at him at any moment.
Austin took the helmet off, standing right behind Roch, so he was looking over his son's shoulder. They looked almost exactly alike, other than the darker skintone and a few wrinkles around the eyes and mouth. The hair was different, of course, his blonde where his son's was dyed purple, but the eyes were almost exactly the same. Only Austin's seemed harder, more cynical.
"Austin Texas Scythe," Austin said, a cigghoulette appearing between his fingers. "This punk's old man."

Well…now that the helmet was off, the resemblance was pretty damn apparent.
Hel made a face. So wait…she thought Roch was practically getting kidnapped, and it was just his father picking him up? Oh…huh. Hel scowled as she rested her hands on her hips, and shifted her weight to one leg as she leveled a look at Roch. “…and with all the trouble that has been going down as of late with the false reapers—“ Hel hissed, “And you lead me to believe you are in serious trouble as well, when it is just your father?” She raised a closed fist at the punk boil then, before unclenching it and turning on her heel to face Austin.
“Hel Brynhildr.” She quipped back with a firm nod of her head, resting her hands back on her hips. “His friend.”

Roch looked away, his shoulders shaking. Austin grunted and shook his shoulder, already having a clue what was going on. Sure enough, Roch started laughing his head off. "Yeah, but--but--" he said, still laughing, "he deserved it!" he explained with a brilliant grin.
"You're a little s**t, you know that, don't you?" Austin told him.
"Where are we, anyway?" Roch asked, changing the subject as he looked up at the store.
"Welcome to Wallowmart," Austin said to both of them. "Biggest tragedy in the entire jackin' Halloween. It's fascinating, isn't it?"

Hel still didn’t look very impressed. “…You know what you should get for Christmastival, Roch? It’s black and blue…” Hel narrowed her eyes made a popping motion with her knee. The threat was clearly there.
Now that she wasn’t worried about trying to take out Roch’s father, Hel actually took in her surroundings, and peered up at the large building. Huh. She never had been to one before. “…Why is it a tragedy?” She questioned, regarding Austin with a raised brow.

"Because it's put millions of small mom and pop shops out of business, and most importantly, it's addictive," Austin said before heading inside. Roch paused as he took in a creepy old man ringing a bell over a black bucket at the front.
Austin came back and grabbed his arm, hauling him inside. "Electronics, clothing, bathroom stuff, and food," he said, pointing to each section.
"This place is terrifying," Roch said with a hint of admiration as he glanced at Hel. "Hey, now that you know he's my dad you could probably skip out if you wanted, I guess."

It put a lot of smaller business out and it was addictive, what? Hel looked puzzled as she watched Austin start to head in, and she didn’t move yet, until he came back to drag Roch in as well. At the punk reaper’s works, the ghoul leveled him a flat stare, and was silent for a moment before she scowled. “Oh Hel.” She started. “I am going to yank your leg and send you on a wild case when I was perfectly safe the entire time…and now that it is over, you can leave now, BAH!”
Someone was just a little bit cranky.
The ghoul narrowed her eyes and stomped after the two. Might as well see what all the hustle and bustle was about this WallowMart.

"I never lied," Roch said cheerfully. "He is a dangerous jacker--not as dangerous as granddad, sure, but dangerous--"
"I'm gonna kill that old b*****d one of these days," Austin said conversationally.
"Let me get his signature on the will before you do," Roch said, his eyes huge as he looked in every direction he could. "But... uh... do they sell cups?" he asked, intent on that one thing.
"How many times have you been kicked in the balls?" Austin asked a bit blankly. Roch looked at Hel.

Hel almost looked like she was ready to whap Roch a new one…until automatic sliding doors happened. The valkyrie startled, her wings flaring out as she stared wide eyed as they disappeared to the sides. Woah. Her jaw dropped a bit. This was what happened when one lived out in the country.
She stared at them for a moment longer before tearing herself away from the sight, and followed after the Scythe boils.
The valkyrie snorted as Roch mentioned cups, and when he looked at her, she just gave a half hearted shrug. “Not enough.”

"Please, for the love of jack, tell me she ain't your ghoulfriend OR crush," Austin said, pointing to the sports gear area and starting forward.
"Neither. Absolutely neither. But there was this massive nutcracker guy in... wherever we were that kicked me in the balls right after she did," Roch explained. "I'm thinking metal lined, seriously."
Austin looked at Hel, a disturbed expression on his face. "Hell of a way to make friends, kickin'em in the balls."

Hel scowled at Austin’s question, and jabbed an accusing finger at Roch. “I would not date him if he was the last boil in Halloween! He’s a knucklehead and comes up with the most foolish assumptions! Besides.” Hel rested her hands on her hips as she meandered after them into the sports section. “I am honored to have the most wonderful boilfriend in Halloween right now.” Hel jabbed her chin into the air then, peering at Austin though a cocky lidded gaze.
“It truly didn’t start this way. But as I said, Roch was coming up with some rather stupid assumptions…I was surprised there was a pair to nail, actually.”

Roch's eyes narrowed on her. "That's it, we're leavin' you here," he said, irritated with her now. "I no longer claim you as a pal," he added. "That was LOW." Then he turned to stalk off, leaving Austin standing there looking at the valkyrie curiously.
"Y'know," he said finally, "it's one thing to be pissed at a friend then get revenge, but you probably shouldn't keep bringing it up AFTER you got the revenge."

Sadly, Hel didn’t look remorseful in the slightest as Roch shot his words at her. If anything she just crossed her arms and shifted her weight to another foot. “I am a good pal!” She called out after him, “I don’t contemplate leaving you alone! I also came here to save you, didn’t I!?”
Hel ‘hmped’ and let the punk reaper stalk away from now, instead turning her attention to Austin. “I don’t take kindly to stupid ideas.” She remarked. “And this whole ‘I’m not going to hang out with you because you are in a relationship’ was pretty damn stupid.” Hel huffed again. “…Someone who can contemplate just pulling themselves away from their friends like that need to be reminded that it’s stupid.”

"That what he do?" Austin asked curiously. "Hmm... but," he said after a second. "You might not have lost him over that, but gettin' kicked in the balls by someone, then being accused of having none to begin with, that's definitely a legitimate reason to NOT be friends with them--Roch--Jackdammit, he shadowstepped," he complained, seeing the punk boil nowhere in sight.
"Do you like my kid?" he asked her as he started for the sports gear area.

“If Roch is as petty to toss me aside over those words, then maybe I am better off without him!” Not that she truly meant she’d be happy without him…she was just making a point. “Bah! If you are going by that logic, sir.” Maybe that was said with a bit of sarcasm, “Then I should have let go of him when he insinuated that I was slow and dim-witted, but I didn’t.”
The reaper started to trail after the older grim as he moved along.
“Do I like him?” Hel repeated incredulously. “Of course I do! He would not be my friend if I didn’t!”
