Jude had read stories: uniformed thugs who jumped people in the night and gave them some sort of drug, something that sapped their strength and left them weak and tired, something that didn't show up in any kind of blood test and that, on occasionally, did worse than that. Rumors on the internet blamed it on the terrorists, the girls in their white tops and little skirts, young people with strange magical abilities, and all in all it had made no sense to Jude.

This, though, made slightly more sense. Two girls in crazy outfits cornering one of the a*****e who tended to call him 'f**' and who had stolen one of his favorite hats a week and a half ago -- these didn't look like crazy magical sailors in weird short skirts, but instead looked like normal troubled teenagers, dressed up and wielding what they had on hand to push him around.

The guy deserved it. Jude knew he deserved it, crouched down in the gap between two rundown houses, staring from the scene to his house across the street and back. He deserved it, coupled with a fear of running across home and getting that attention turned on him, and topped off with the fact that police response time in this area wasn't great, was all the justification he needed to just stay put and watch and wobble, overcome with uncertainty. Add on top of that morbid curiosity, the need to know what was going on, a deep-down, heavily-repressed thirst for understanding...

He stayed put. He watched, around the corner, shaky and scared, unaware of the cat watching him from behind a chimney, above.

It was so easy now to just stay in her own neighborhood and terrorize the asshats, gossips, and bullies that had made the lives of Chromite and her friends miserable. There was a certain power in knowing that they could say whatever they wanted about her alter-ego but at the end of the day, one way or another, she would be the one making them cry. Taking from them all they held dear- And there was nothing more dear than one's very lifeforce.

Grinning from ear to ear she held tonight's particular jerk by the neck enjoying the panic that filled his eyes as she watched him. No words were needed for Chromite. If taunting him was something Xenotime felt the urge to do that was her prerogative- But the blond wasn't feeling it. She just wanted to make the d**k squirm for as long as possible. Capping her energy quota was just the cherry on top.

Taunting was something Xenotime always had as a prerogative. Much like flirting, the smack talk and bitchy comments flood like water from plum lips, and there never seemed to be anything even close to a language filter on that pretty mouth. "Not so tough now, are we?" Her tone was dripping in sugary sweet condescension as she leaned in closer, head tilting so he could easily see the grin that was growing ever wider.

She watched on as Chromite held the teen by his throat, his face slowly going redder and redder. It was only a matter of another minute or two before he started turning purple. It was a wonderful show.

One gloved hand rose to rest on her fellow soldier's arm. "I still want a piece of him, so don't strangle him into unconsciousness." Fun as that would have been to watch, her knuckles were itching, and the only cure was the satisfying slam of her fists into his face. And any other part she felt inclined to pummel.

Everyone in the neighborhood was likely watching them -- through pulled-aside curtains and dirty windows, some of them lingering out of curiosity and others merely flicking a glance before they turned back to their lives. Only two pairs of eyes, tonight, really mattered, though. The wide, worried dark brown, Jude tracking them uncertainly, and the yellow-green flash from the cat above him.

Under the cover of Xenotime's words, the cat slithered down off the building and pulled up next to Jude, fur against the side of his hand, warm against his leg. The contact got a noise out of him, a startled little bark of sound that he only mostly bit down on, his attention flashing from the girls to the puss.

"Shhh, go home." His tone was a whisper, poking at the cat, trying to drive her back and away, but she merely blinked back up at him, serious and implacable. Taking in his face. How could this be right?

But she spoke all the same, Laoise's voice low, a breath that shocked him back into silence. "You must trust me. We can handle this."

She flicked a look out toward the girls again, though, looking for an opportunity. Jude just stared at the weird talking cat.

((One more round and I'll toss a ... rather helpless young senshi at you? >__>))

All Chromite could think as she watched her victim struggle for breath was how this was a great opportunity to teach Xeno the fine art of taking a starseed. It wasn't so much kosher anymore, but sometimes it was necessary. Taking a senshi's seed for example, needing a rush of new energy to escape a tricky situation, or even because the a*****e in your grasp deserved it.

At the touch of her partner's hand on her arm, she grinned and nodded. "Of course, hon!" It was not even remotely in her personality to begrudge a friend some fun. Before she set him down, however, she got real close to his ear and whispered sweet somethings to him. "When you're dragging your near corpse home, I want you to remember one thing: Leave Jude Harrow alone. Or I will ******** kill you."

With that she dropped him, laughing as he gasped for breath, and then stepped back to let Xeno have her way with him.

The grin that spread along Xenotime's lips as the young man was dropped was priceless.

Before his knees could even hit the grass she had grabbed the collar of his shirt and hauled him back up to his feet, one small fist cranking back before slamming forward, into his jaw, to rock his head back on his neck. She did this twice, studded knuckles leaving bruises and even tearing the skin along his cheek before she turned her aim to other places.

Like his stomach.

The sound of the air leaving his longs as her knee drove up and into his solar plex was like music to her ears.

She didn't notice one of her best friends hiding in the shadows, nor the talking cat that seemed to have taken a special interest in him. If she had, the irony of the situation certainly wouldn't have been lost on her. They were doing this for him, after all. To keep Jude safe.

Jude wasn't all that safe, right now, in all honesty. His heart pounded wildly in his chest as the cat turned a careful little circle in the air and dropped a pen in front of him. Obviously, Lee expected him to take it; she nudged it in his direction with her nose and stared up at him expectantly, impatiently.

For a floundering moment, he just stood there. Stared at her. Until the pounding of flesh-against-flesh made him wince and kick into motion, leaning forward to grab it up and, under her instruction, bring it into the air with a softly-whispered phrase --

His energy signal flared into life behind them, suddenly there. The top of his hat, brightly white, showed out of his hiding space, any easy target even in the relative darkness. Sisyphus straightened slowly, uncertainly, as the cat stared up at him. His knees were cold.

"...for the love of...go drive them off, boy!" Lee hissed at him, and it got him moving again. Two steps outward, Sisyphus's fingers lifting uncertainly to his hat and a flush light on his cheeks as he pointed to the girls.

"Um. Stop!"

The sudden appearance and close proximity of an order aligned aura was enough to have the lieutenant pause in her assault to raise her head and look around. It also afforded the bully a chance to twist himself free of her gap so he could make a break for it. This caused a certain amount of swearing, and she was about to make chaff, but her partner in crime took off after him first, telling back that she'd "take care of it".

This left Xenotime some with the fancy pants senshi that was currently standing in the next yard over, pointing and telling at them to stop.

The sight of him actually made the girl blink, because for a moment she could have sworn she'd been staring back at Jude, but the moment passed, and Xenotime met the senshi's command with a twitch of one violet brow. "Or what?" Was the obvious come back, and she folded her arms under her breasts, weight shifting to one hip.

It was a really good question. It was a question that made poor Sisyphus blink, still clutching at his hat and pointing at the girl stupidly. Slowly, he lowered his hand, squinting back toward the cat still lurking in the shadows. She, in turn, rolled her eyes and hissed something sibilant in reply.

Nonsense, to him, but he turned and repeated it, stammering just a little as he did:

"S-s-sisyphean Task!"

This was the time to point at her again, too. He didn't, and it made Laoise hide her face under a paw, all to sure that she was going to have to step in and save him. In contrast, Sisyphus thought he'd done a good job, blinking in surprise as the magic kicked in.

Xenotime would be stuck taking out her weapon and putting it away again for a solid thirty seconds, and that seemed great. However. That only occupied one hand, and Sisyphus was entirely unaware that the rest of her could do whatever it wanted.

A very deadpan expression followed the senshi's following silence, and as he looked back into the shadows of the house he was standing next to she rolled her eyes, snickering softly. "What a rookie.." Cleaarly he had no idea what he was supposed to be doing.

Evenually he did shout something, but it wasn't much of an answer. It brought her attention back to him, but only momentarily as the gloves on her hands began to phase in and out of being. "What the ********?" She tried to concentrate on keeping the gloves summoned, but as they flicked back into nothing she shrugged, rolling grey eyes back up to him. "Please tell me that wasn't your attack." She was laughing again.

She was also now moving towards him. Completely unhindered by whatever the ******** he'd done to her "weapon". They were gloves, they didn't really do anything. She could just as easily punch the snot out of him with or without them.

Crap and double crap. Jude had never been a fighter, more the type to get noogied and pushed around by the bigger kids than to stand up for himself, and just having a uniform wasn't going to help with that. No. He stared at the oncoming officer and fought the urge to start hyperventilating.

One step back. Another. He stumbled and didn't quite fall over rubbish at the curb, and then Lee's frustration got the better of her.

"Just hit her, you stupid child!" This time, it was probably loud enough for Xenotime to catch her voice, to recognize the tone of voice, and the low height from which it came. A cat, certainly. And not very effective, no matter how much shouting she did. Sisyphus seemed, for the moment, paralyzed.
PostPosted: Wed Mar 20, 2013 3:39 pm

The flickering of her gloves stopped when she was about halfway across the yard, and she gave th edge of one a little tug. Unnessicary, but it had a certain theatrical element to it.

He tripped, stumbling over a pile of ever present rubbish left out near a curb, and the girl snorted in laughter. It didn't do much to slow her down, she was still advancing on him, but her cookiness was growing with every passing minute. She wasn't even going to have to break a sweat!

And then another voice called out from the shadows he'd been looking towards. That did stop her. She blinked, staring into the gloom, and frowned. It had been a very comanding order, and had come from a spot about shin high..

"Oh no way. You're a ******** baby senshi?" Right out of the ******** nest. "Boy, did your kitty pick the wrong Lieutenant for you to tangle with right out of the gate." Maybe shed get lucky and beat the magic right back out of him.

OR, scare him into never powering up again. It was a possibility.

Laoise bristled, at least, stepping out to glare at the lieutenant and raise her chin. Sure, she was a cat, but she could pack some fury into that green glare -- and, at this moment, she did. Behind her, her tail swished out a rapid, furious pattern in the air, a pale swoosh that never stilled.

"Come on child, are you going to let her talk to you that way?" She actually hopped, two steps to the left, voice dropping down into a slow rumbling growl. Not that it had any effect on the nega -- or, even, Sisyphus, who only took the time to stutter out his challenge again, as if it would have a different effect this time:

"S-s-sisyphean task?"

And it did work. Kind of. Exactly the same way it had before. And did absolutely nothing to slow the oncoming officer. He'd probably get back to his feet just as she came into swinging range.

The cat showed herself finally, and Xenotime sent an unimpressed glance down at her before rolling her eyes at the guardian's attempts to rally her charge. "Right, because he's got any choice at all about how I'm going to be talking to him." The kid was quaking. What was he gunna do, hit her? Ya right!

Apparently he was going to stutter out his attack again, and the lieutenant just stared at him for a second or two as her gloves flickered in and out of being upon her hands. "Really? Because that worked so well last time, didn't it?"

He did indeed manage to get back on his feet by the time Xenotime had closed in on him, and she was already cocking back an arm to deliver a punch that would likely lay him right back out on his a**. She spared the cat a quick glance, lips twitching in a smirk. It said clearly that she was powerless to stop wht was about to happen, and Xeno found it hilarious.

Her fist rocked forward, and she aimed those slightly twisting knuckles, not for his face, as was her usual, but his stomach. A head shot might have knocked him out, and she wasn't ready for the fun to end just yet.

There was, at least, one thing that Sisyphus was good at -- and that was taking the hit. He'd been pushed around by enough bullies at school [and around home] over the years that he was familiar with this maneuver. He'd been smacked, tripped, kicked, and punched enough times to know how to fold around it, how to go small, and that when he went down it was stupid to get up again.

In other words, he took the hit to the stomach in almost-silence and crumpled up at her feet, muddly and still. It was impossible that she could have knocked him out, that easily, but she had at least knocked him down. And he stayed down.
